"A local favorite, Los Yeyo' la Casa Del Mofongo is the spot to visit for Puerto Rican mofongo (mashed plantains) and empanadas. “Their food and service are amazing,” my guide Rivera said. “Decent prices and great food.”"

Loved the interior cool decorations. The staff taking order were amazing and the music playing gave a nice cultural touch to our Old Juan visit. Food and drinks were good.

Stopped in PR old town before boarding cruise ship and found this local gem. Enjoyed the ambiance and dollar bills everywhere. They have a great happy hour & the stew chicken was delicious. The empanadas were more breaded than meat so that was unfortunate but overall we had a great time and enjoyed the service.

If you miss a home cooked Boriqua meal from your Abuela, then this is the place to go. And also DO NOT forget to get the $2 rum shots! Everything tasted absolutely amazing and the staff were just as great!!

Tiny little restaurant with great food. The service is very slow, but the food is worth the wait. This is not the place to go if you’re in a hurry.

Google
Really enjoyed the fried pork mofongo, chicken empanadilla, and the beans! Fried pork mofongo comes out sizzling on a skillet, is tender and delicious with the fried onion. Also ordered the fried pork chops with rice and beans and the pork chop was ok, but the beans were the star. Would love to just have a bowl of that. We also ordered one beef empanadilla and one chicken empanadilla. The beef one was tasty but only half filled with beef. While I liked the crust, there was way too much of it for the filling. We cut it in half to share and literally all the beef was in one half. Would have preferred they just make it smaller for a better ratio of beef to crust. The chicken one was great! Perfect ratio of filling to crust, good texture and great flavor. Also tried the Mojitos and did not disappoint!

Yeyos is an awesome spot just off of Plaza Colón in Old San Juan. Cheap Medalla beer and delicious mofungo (it is the House of Mofungo, after all). ¡Todo bien!

Google
The pictures of food doesn’t do any justice! I loveeeee food and if you’re like me, you like your food to taste as good. And I can’t complain the food is so flavorful! They have a house made hot sauce to add to you food for tang and heat. I ordered the beef steak with onions and rice and beans. I also added sweet plantains for a sweet taste. My wife ordered the chicken stew and rice and beans. She also ordered a chicken empanada! Also delicious. They have an happy hour and we ordered rum punch 2 for $18. They have a local beer called Medalla it’s a light beer and we got those 3 for 5. Overall great place to eat for a great price!

Google
There’s a guy out front that is going to tell you this place has the best mofongo in San Juan and he might be right. The empanadas are also incredible, doughy, fried perfectly and flavorful. Not a bad spot to pop in and have a quick bite

Yelp
Terrible customer service and not worth your time or money. We ordered, paid, and waited over 45 minutes for just one drink and one mofongo. I followed up with the staff a couple of times about the order and eventually asked for it to be packed to go because we were running out of time to catch our boat. When I finally requested a refund, they suddenly made the drink and handed us the food, which turned out to be cold--like it had been sitting out for a while. The restaurant wasn't even busy. To make things worse, they changed the TV news channel the moment we started watching it, which felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. Another group came in, waited over 10 minutes to be seated, and eventually gave up and left. It felt like the staff had a bad attitude, possibly driven by ego or pride, even though we had done nothing to warrant such treatment. As paying customers, we at least expected our food to come out in a timely manner. Unfortunately, even that basic expectation wasn't met. Disappointing experience overall and do not recommend.

Yelp
Tú sabes que es malo cuando estoy escribiendo desde la mesa. Este mofongo es una porqueria. Seco seco seco. La chuleta estaba quemado y duro.

Yelp
They're open on Christmas Day. The Don Q coconut rum shots were pretty good. Our bartender was attentive and quick. The atmosphere was lively, with menu options like Mofongo. Looking forward to trying more of Puerto Rico's signature dishes next time!

Yelp
The tastiest mofongo in my opinion, and limonade too. Delicious and so fresh. But the pernil was so salty and the service was a bit choppy. But overall i really liked it.
google avatar

Aditya T.

Yelp
The service was quick and ambience was great. Perfect hole in the wall for quick lunch. I got the shrimp mofongo. The shrimps were seasoned well and delicious, the mofongo was a bit dry. The star was the roue that the shrimps and the mofongo was in. Absolutely delicious.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Ni vengan aqui a comer! El cocinero obviamente no sabe hacer un mofongo. Después Que sirven esto por $20 dicen que me hacen otro mofongo criollo. No gracias prefiero quedarme con hambre. Que mal!

Yelp
We got a mofongo with crab here as a second dinner (lol we were hungry) / post-dinner snack. My friend liked it more than me, I think there are better mofongos in the city and it was a bit salty, but it was still solid. The interior (especially a side room with lights) was super cute but it was so cold in the restaurant especially as you got farther in. The air conditioning was blasting and it wasn't hot enough outside to warrant it, in my opinion. We didn't have drinks, but the prices looked cheap/reasonable.

Yelp
Our cruise ship swung by San Juan for a couple hours and I had two missions: rum and mofongo. After satisfying my rum cravings we searched for an authentic place to get mofongo. Sadly there are a lot of tourist traps in San Juan (like birthplace of the pina colada? Come onnnnnnn man, do better). But we finally found this place. Unassuming joint that was 1/3 restaurant, 1/3 sundries store, 1/3 liquor store? Manager had Keith sweat on repeat, beers were cheap and ice cold. We were more than ready for the food and DAMN was it delicious! We had skirt steak and roast pork mofongo and a couple local Puerto Rican microbrews. Everything about the meal was incredible, totally low key vibes and great location. I will always recommend this place to friends going to San Juan!

Yelp
After searching yelp for a local place to go to while visiting from a cruise we decided to stop in here. It's a fairly small place so keep in mind you may sit with other people or close to them. They play 90s music which was fun. We got seated immediately and our order taken quickly however there was a bit of a language barrier but we made it work. For drink I ordered a coke which in a can and then I got a rum punch which had a good flavor however it was thick. I'm pretty sure they use fresh fruit not processed juices. Hubby got a Cuba libre and it was strong but good esp with a lime squeeze. Started with a chicken and a beef meat pie and they were sadly mostly dough but still good. Would have definitely liked more filling. They gave us a bottle of hot sauce to go with them and it was a bit spicy but a needed addition to the meat pies Main course I ordered crab mofongo it had a very good flavor and was a large portion. Only complaint was the whole meal was one texture so if you're like me and have texture issues order a different meat option. Hubby got the pork mofongo and the meat was plentiful and large portion as well. Great taste and well seasoned. They have restrooms and they take Apple Pay. Overall good experience and would stop in again.

Yelp
We were the only ones in on a Friday afternoon, food was delicious. The breaded chicken blows the beef steak away. Would gladly come back.

Yelp
We recently dined at Los Yenos and had a wonderful experience! The mofongo was absolutely delicious, and the fresh juice was incredibly refreshing. Our kids were fascinated by all the messages written on dollars taped to the wall, which added a unique and fun touch to the ambiance. The service was also very good, making our visit even more enjoyable. We highly recommend Los Yenos for a delightful meal and a memorable dining experience!

Yelp
Headed back for a shuttle pickup and decided to stop at Yeyos to get a bite. I was strictly relying on other yelpers to help me decide. The atmosphere was a little dark for my taste and pretty tight. We were a party of five so they sat our group in a hallway with three narrow tables out together. One the food arrived my Obed impression is that not all Puertorican food is created equal. The chicharrones de pollo was well cooked but under seasoned. The bbq chicken was juicy and tender. The arroz con habichuelas and gandules was well cooked and nicely seasoned. We all had natural juices like passion fruit and pineapple. The food was descent but I wouldn't return because of the atmosphere.

Yelp
Serví CD e top notch greeted at the Door with all smiles for a 2 dollar shot after walking in and being convinced to try the sancocho we were escorted to a secret room filled with dollar bills . We were offered tape and markers to put our mark in the room we took the opportunity to join the party. Sat down ordered a fresh mango mojito and omg I was not ready for what they were about to serve up. The best veggie mofongo I have ever had in my life! The pastel on was insane. I couldn't be happier. Food is fresh and I don't know what kind of vitamins are in this food but I can feel it I. My body. It was very reminiscent of eating at grandmas house that food that really fuels the soul!

Yelp
Service was so bad rest didn't even matter. Story as old as time. Ordered food and drink, didn't get anything for 40 min. Went to ask for it, staff said okay, but had a very disinterested attitude, and as we watched them roam around again completely forgetting about us. Told them we wanted a refund and like a magic trick the food and drink all appeared in a matter of minutes. No food is worth a terrible staff. Just to be clear this was not a single person, we interacted with three different staff people, the waiter, a tall big man, and two bar tenders, both petite females. Find a place that respects your time.

Yelp
We were walking by and wanted dinner so my mom got the snapper fish and we got the lasagna. Food was a good portion size. Ours came with plantains. Minus the salads. My mom's fish was missing her plantains. We waited a reasonable amount of time. 15 minutes. This location does serve alcohol but we don't drink so I can't speak about that. It was very noisy with the music but it's a bar as well. The entrance is stairs which my mom did struggle with.

Anissa B.

Yelp
We came in here on a POURING night, I came In holding my 40 lb 2 year old, absolutely DRENCHED, one of the workers was very eager to help us up their stairs then assisted us with some dry napkins and seated us very quickly. Service was amazing. Food was probably even better.......definitely recommend their pork mofongo and mango mojito; thank me later ;)

Laura G.

Yelp
Los Yeyos! Thank you for the best meal we had in San Juan! Small, local, family owned and operated, super friendly service and OH THE FOOD!! Even though we thought we didn't like plaintains, we ate them and they were incredible and the fresh fish... YES! Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy for yourself : )
google avatar

Yelp
3/12 stars. Located in old San Juan, Los Yeyos serves solid Puerto Rican fare for fair prices. The pork, chicken and mofongo were all solid. It's very no frills, more like eating in the back of a bar, but service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
My bf and I had dinner plans elsewhere, but the restaurants on my list had long wait times. We stumbled across this restaurant and was originally just going to grab a drink, but decided to get some food. Pretty big inside and the bartender/waiter was friendly. Food didn't blow us away but hit the spot. We shared the crab mofongo and chicken cracklings (chicharonnes de pollo). Crab mofongo was delicious. It came with no sides and was a bit pricey compared to other places that sell mofongo with a side included. The chicken cracklings we did not like. Waiter said it was popular so we ordered it, but overly fried and dry. I'd definitely come back to grab drinks here!
google avatar

Isabella R.

Yelp
Stopped in Los Yeyos for authentic mofongo. Decided on the garlic chicken mofongo and it was delicious! Very flavorful and juicy. The entire restaurant is covered with dollar bills all over the walls from past visitors, which was neat. Received our food quickly, but had to wait over a hour to receive the bill. Scrumptious food, but if you're in a hurry be prepared to wait.

Yelp
What a great find . It's so small and gets crowded at times. The dishes look really good and taste even better. Try the one dollar rum shots before you leave.

Yelp
Came here very hungry snd tired . It's in an ally of Old Sam Juan. I ordered fried Pork chops with rice and beans.it was delicious . My husband ordered their fish with coconut and salad . His food was the best . Their drinks are pretty good. We were lucky to come here firing Happy hours . Overall a good experience. Friendly staff.

Yelp
If I could rate 0 stars, I would. Food was just OK, the place was very claustrophobic, and service was an absolute disgrace. Our server forgot one of our meals and by the time she realized, everyone else was finished eating. When they finally gave us the meal, it was incorrect and they still tried to charge us for it. All of the staff did not try to mediate the issue, instead they talked back and gave attitude. In fact, our server TRIED to fight us, with multiple staff members holding her back while she tried vigilantly to attack us. I do not recommend this place at all, there are plenty of other places nearby where I am sure you would not have an experience like this. What ever happened to the customer is always right? Or at least proper service and management. Highly disappointing.

Yelp
Best mofongo!! The skirt steak mofongo is phenomenal, along with the drinks. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Opinion Coming from a 100 % boricua' I'm So sorry it might have been a bad night for this business but all these people giving all these high ratings know nothing about Puerto Rican cuisine. I ordered The chicharrón de pollo' and it was horrible !!!! It Had a bad taste and a bad smell, I also ordered a garlic with chicken mofongo' I never in my life saw a mofongo come out on a sizzling skillet !!! It was not at all what I expected. It was extremely greasy. I had rice and beans' The rice was mushy but the beans were ok. The only thing that was good was the waitress and the Customer service' Sorry it was my first and last time. Eat at your own risk.

Yelp
We stumbled across this restaurant as with other many ones walking around old San Juan. The menu is what drew us in since we were looking for something authentic and in the area. We came back around dinner time with a party of 5 and was seated promptly. I ordered the rice and pork chops and my wife ordered the beef stew. Both of us enjoyed our meals. The beers were also decently priced . I got two 8oz Presidente for $3. Definitely more of a bar atmosphere than restaurant but don't let that scare you away.
google avatar

Yelp
Authentic mofongo experience right in the heart of Old San Juan. Quick service. Nice atmosphere.

Kobi L.

Yelp
Think about going somewhere else. We were seated at the smallest tables within the back. Continued to order and the waiter did not speak english which was very understandable however, she wasn't writing any notes at all. As a big group she did not check on us and continued to mess up. She messed up our drinks, she messed up our food orders and had to return to the table to re-ask the amount of both the drinks and again with the amount of plates we had ordered. One person was waiting on their meal, we were not checked up on so we had to get our waiters attention to ask about the food. She proceeds to tell us that " she forgot " & runs to put our order in. We wait again, another 15-20 minutes pass and she still has not brought the food until we asked for the bill. She did not return to give us our food but instead had another employee give us our food. Our family member did not recieve her food until we were leaving and it was INCORRECT which included the allergens that were requested to be taken off. We were there for more than an hour which is inexcusable and negligent. Once we got our bill, we were still charged for the incorrect food. The Manager, Food Cook/Manager, and The waiter all argued with us over the food, that they never put in!! An hour waiting for food that was never put in twice and we were considered in the wrong ? The waiter continued to almost brawl our family member and screamed at us as she clapped her hands. Manager telling us to shush. Food Manager rude when asking us why we had asked our food to go? Where is the accountability. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Customers are not always right but how are we supposed to control a waiter who doesn't speak full english & didn't put in our food? You guys need to do better with customer service and it shows with your reviews and response reviews.

Yelp
Small Gem in Old San Juan PR. Visiting from LA, California. It was the $1 Rum shots that brought us in. They played good 90's music it was definitely a vibe. I tried the best beef patty and I'm sad because I know I'll never find a patty like that in CALI! Everything was so fresh and authentic even the sauce ! This place will be first on my list to return if I ever get the chance to travel back to PR again. Amazing customer service as well! I ordered beef stew with rice and beans. I got to try my sisters Mofongo with fried pork, and also tried some pork chops. Everything was so AMAZING. I can't wait to go back

Sheay D.

Yelp
Very authentic food that was made fresh. The chicharron was the best I had while in old San Juan.
google avatar

Amanie O.

Yelp
The husband and I were craving sancocho and we called in for a take out order. The ambiance seemed fun when we went to pick up and wished we had dined in. The service was fast and prompt at the front and the prices where reasonable. The sancocho was the perfect food for a rainy stay in night and we will definitely come in again next time!
google avatar

Claudia D.

Yelp
I was so excited but my fish was very salty and basic. We ordered 3 dishes and none of them are food enough to recommend. We came here as a cheap eats and the price are similar to any other restaurant in the area. Try it for yourself but this was my experience. We arrived an hr before closing, so maybe the cook was rushing to get home.
google avatar

Jane D.

Yelp
I wanted to try some authentic Puerto Rican food during my stay so I was happy to run into this spot. One thing I wanted to try was "mofongos," which I learned are typical here. Well, it was really good! I also liked the vibe of the restaurant and how the walls are covered with messages on dollar bills put up by the clientele. I had to add a couple myself. Fun times!
google avatar

Erika F.

Yelp
This place is very low key and delicious. It seems more like a bar, but don't snooze the traditional Puerto Rican food. We had two different mofongo dishes and both did not disappoint. Service was good. I would highly recommend this place! 9/10
google avatar

Kelly-Ann N.

Yelp
My husband n I were on a hunt for a restaurant after our 2 go to places were packed. Came across Los Yeyos (down the block from Madres) and we are NOT disappointed. Food was amazing, staff very accommodating.. My husband wabted his meal alter and the cook came and asked him "what is it that you want" Husband explained n he said " Okay I got you " Made it exactly how my husband wanted. The Fresh lemonade is to die for (added a lil water).. Most importantly (for us) they are vegan friendly Another one for our list.

Velma C.

Yelp
The Chicharon de pollo was horrible, it had a foul smell. I had the pastelon, which was not what I expected it to be or taste. The only thing that was edible was the white rice with beans. It was a party of 11 and everyone was dissatisfied. This establishment gives Puerto Rican cuisine a bad name.

Arnold P.

Yelp
Where do I begin! After getting in late and hungry our party decided to stop in at this place. True disappointment. Not at all what we're use to when eating Puerto Rican cuisine. Basically everything that was ordered was near horrible. Avoid this place. Plenty of better choices in the area.

Bert B.

Yelp
The mofongo is incredible. Light, moist, and flavorful. The pernil is my favorite. My current favorite mofongo in San Juan.
google avatar

Debra R.

Yelp
Classic old style local bar with a few tables, two for one cocktails, and cheap beer. Their local specialty meals served with made-to-order rice and beans are filling and tasty. Their mojitos are strong and the real deal with muddled limes and fresh mint. Just a ten minute walk from the cruise terminal.

Susan L.

Yelp
This is the real deal if you want authentic Puerto Rican food. We found this place in 2020. We had the chicken stew with rice and beans. We returned to Puerto Rico this week and this was one place we wanted to return to. Prices are good. Food is great. Looks like a little hole in the wall kind of place but it's clean, service is good and worth the visit. We were not disappointed.
google avatar

Olivia P.

Yelp
Visited for lunch today (12/20/2022) and we had a great meal! It was happy hour so we took advantage of the drink special- 2 frozen margaritas for $14.00. The mango and the strawberry are very sweet but still very good. We ordered shredded pork, yellow rice and peas, white rice and beans, plantain pie, and maduros. I ordered the vegetarian options and the others in my party ordered the meat dishes. Everything tasted great and the service was excellent. Prices are very reasonable and I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for authentic PR food in Old San Juan!
google avatar

Diane H.

Yelp
I love finding authentic home cooked food when traveling. This place was not a disappointment. I had the pulled pork and rice and beans. There's not much seasoning on it, but they do offer a homemade hot sauce, which is fantastic. Not extremely spicy, more like red peppers. The potato salad was delicious too. I like it made with egg just the way it was.
google avatar

Luis C.

Yelp
The service was great! The atmosphere felt like a hole in the wall. This restaurant was listed as family friendly; but we were disappointed to see profanity written on the chair directly in front of us. All of the notes written on the walls and furniture with marker are pretty cool but someone needs to check every once in a while and remove the more obscene comments. The food was good. The waitress was excellent. We will definitely return the next time we come back to San Juan. It is definitively worth the visit.
google avatar

Jose V.

Yelp
Amazing food, anyone visiting old San Juan should definitely come and experience this place outstanding service
google avatar

Al L.

Yelp
Excellent! Food was ver tasty, plentiful, and fairly priced. Would definitely recommend for an authentic Puerto Rican meal.

Charlize A.

Yelp
If I could leave zero stars I would... PLEASE don't waste your time or money. In a party of 10, our server did not even take notes of our orders, which led to our server forgetting to put in my sister's food order. While the rest of us finished our food my sister never received her shrimp mofongo, in other words we were unable to enjoy a dinner as a whole with our family. When we asked for updates on her food the server replied, "i forgot" and did not even apologize, and failed to explain the inconvenience... at this point we decided to take it to go and leave immediately. After 30 minutes of waiting, they finally brought the food and everything about it was wrong--completely ignored her requests of no onions or vegetables (p.s. she is allergic to onions). As anyone would do, we told them to just take it back and take it off the tab, in which they replied "why did you ask for it to go then?" Every single one of the workers lacked professionalism and hospitality to their customers, never apologized or admitted to their mistakes and actions. At this point, my sister spoke up about it since they failed to come to a reasonable compromise and our server began to argue back. The server was completely rude and ignorant, and proceeded to AGGRESSIVELY yell at my sister with an intention to fight her. About five workers had to hold her back, and even then she broke through them and ran towards us. I sat at the very edge of the table and the server was less than a foot away from my face... I honestly believed that if she wasn't held back she would've attacked me along with other members in our party. She continued to scream insults to us and stuck up her middle finger. That server needs to get fired immediately, but i doubt they will take further action because they all seem to share the same horrible attitude. Once again, save your time and money it is not worth it at all. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Yelp
Mofongo - Mofongo - Mofongo! Sizzling hot skillets, moist chicken and FRESH Hand muddled Mojitos! Authentic Puerto Rican Cuisine cooked and served with all heart . Definitely a must TASTE for a PR Culinary and Cocktail journey - simple in style and price with BIG on TASTE!

Yelp
Food was overall good. I would have preferred the ride to mixed with the beans instead of separate. The empanadas were okay and the crab mofonga was a must try since it's a staple in PR. Overall we chose this place since we were in the area buying souvenirs to take back home.
