Lost Freight Cafe

After experiencing the unbelievable wind at the top of Mount Wellington / kunanyi, we stopped by here for some hot chocolate and warm water. The staff were really friendly, and there’s seating both inside and outside. Don’t miss this spot if you’re visiting the mountain — it’s the perfect place to warm up and relax!

Genuinely the best Reuben I've had in recent memory, and bloody good scallop pie. Great coffee, comfortable outdoor table options where my three year old could run around and explore. He loved checking out the little cabin with the fireplace too. Lovely and quick service.

Lovely place to grab a coffee and delicious toast after the hike. Service was a bit on the slower side, but no problem if you aren’t on a hurry of course.

Excellent coffee, friendly staff and if you couldn’t tell my favourite pit stop mid ride! Highly recommend :)

Exceptional quality food and coffee. The Vegan Madras pie was delicious as was the coffee.

I wandered out of the bush, as part of a days hiking on Kunyani, in to the clearing at The Springs, to find this wonderful little cafe. Really good coffee, great locally made food, and really friendly staff, all set in the leafy surrounding Wellington Park. Great places to sit outside, plenty of parking off Pinnacle Road, and well maintained toilets nearby. The perfect spot for the weary hiker, or as a waypoint on your drive to the top of the mountain.

This is an absolutely fantastic addition to Mt Wellington. We took the bus and hopped off at the chalet, then hiked from the chalet down to the cafe (about 1 hour) and had a coffee and lamb pie here. My friend had the Monte Carlo biscuit which was superb. The service was great and the food and drink were good quality. I also picked up a cute magnet while I was here.

Cute little cafe makes a great spot to stop before or after your hike, walk, drive, bike ride up or down the mountain. A great place to meet fellow travellers and locals. nice bunch of people running the place, always smiling and greeting customers as you approach the counter. Inside seats 5-6 people but outside seats a lot more.

For a tiny trailer on the side of the mountain, the coffee is surprisingly good! I wasn't expecting much except warm liquid to warm me up on my way down the mountain, but my usual flat white which was pleasantly strong and not overly milky. A small assortment of sweet treats on display if you're so inclined.

Glorious creamy hot chocolate to wrap your frozen fingertips around on your way up or down Mt Wellington! A cup conscious cafe so bring your reusable cup for your coffee, chai or matcha latte. Some sweet treats if you arrive earlier in the day!
