Hotel Marcel in New Haven: America’s Eco-Conscious Brutalist Hotel

"Opening this fall, Lost in New Haven is described as more than a museum — a collection of the human spirit told through local relics passionately collected and curated by Robert Greenberg — and I found it to be the most fascinating nearby spot mentioned."

Amazing New Haven historical experience. Rob has brought New Haven history to life. From the indigenous people to the Puritans to the English through the wars to modern pop culture. Utterly amazing storytelling. The Benedict Arnold / Noah Webster portion puts Lost in New Haven in the forefront of historical education for the masses. Rob is a gifted educator. Required attendance for all grades in all schools in New Haven county. Bravo and thank you.

If you grew up in the New Haven area this place is a MUST visit!! If you didn’t - it’s still a MUST! I’ve been several times & see & learn something new every time. The founding curator is wealth of knowledge & has some amazing stories. Endless treasures from New Haven that are constantly being added to the collection.

The 2:00 Saturday tour with collector Robert Greenberg is the only way to immerse yourself in this amazing space filled with New Haven memorabilia. The stories behind all the objects and the stories on how he acquired these objects are equally as fascinating. This is a must see for anyone visiting the area and especially for those who have grown up in New Haven. To make this place even more special is the fact that the space can be rented out for events. When we were visiting they were setting up for a retirement party. What a perfect place to entertain guests!

Such a great place! This is a wonderful and approachable way to find out more about how New Haven became the city it is today. Here is history told through countless mementos, objects and souvenirs. Children and anyone who grew up in New Haven County will find much to interest and delight them. Older people can reconnect with lost memories. The extensive and well curated collection has something for everyone. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Lost in New Haven, and look forward to bring family and friends here.

Thank you to the founding curator and executive director, Rob Greenberg, for returning to New Haven and sharing this treasure trove with us! Your profound affection is a work of art and creativity, derived from history and tradition, CELEBRATING a love of collecting discarded objects. The museum reflects broader cultural attitudes towards consumerism and the tendency to discard objects once their usefulness has ended. It challenges this mindset by physically presenting these seemingly insignificant items as valuable and worthy appreciation. Visit the museum and explore how Rob’s sensual and aesthetic collection has grown into the most breathtaking museum of New Haven’s historic preservation. Can’t wait to visit again!!!

Attended an event recently and was pleasantly surprised at how impressive Lost in New Haven is. The collection of items, the stories, the staff. This really is the most unique and expansive collection representing the history of New Haven. The venue is amazing as well. I agree with other reviews that say it's a must visit. Awesome!!!
