On the Grid : Lost In Tokyo

"Ever wondered what a Baby Godzilla tastes like? Yes, no, maybe? Well head down to Lost In Tokyo and find out! This bar is the new kid on the block, taking over one of the downstairs areas in 24 Lever Street’s creative network. Whether it’s the name, the cocktail menu or the paper lanterns, it’s not long before you feel transported to a top secret Japanese bar. The bar’s impressive selection of Japanese whiskies is yet another reason to try to tipple with a menu of Suntory, Yamazaki, Hibiki and Hakushu to name just a few. Whilst these might be some of the nicest cocktails you’ve tried, you won’t be paying through the baby godzilla nose for them with two for £10 before 9pm and just £6.50 any other time. The vibe is friendly and buzzing, full of creative minds and friendly faces. On Fridays and Saturdays, the bar is open from 4pm until 3am, hosting DJ’s playing some great tracks. Follow the neon, grab a cosy both and be truly transported to another city." - The Neighbourhood

Staff were drinking behind the bar. Waited 20 minutes for my drink because this idiot was clearly off his head, drinking from the cups he was making. I asked the staff next to him if he was drunk, all they did was shrugged. Very unprofessional.

Super vibey place and the cocktails are great! 2 of the same for £12 and the flavours are great - each comes with a little something on top, like a rubber duck, fan or an image pegged on to the side of the glass and this will correlate with the drink’s name/theme. Just a really cool place and the bartenders were friendly and served pretty quickly. Definitely quite busy though so that is something to keep in mind if you’re wanting more quiet drinks. However if you want to go somewhere with a great vibes, decor and fun drinks - this is for you

Most the cocktails in here are great and come with cute little props but avoid the marg - the worst I’ve ever tasted! Atmosphere is usually pretty good in here, can have a little dance on the weekend.

Very stylish, high quality bar in the Northern Quarter. Interior is very well (maybe a bit over the top) themed in the style of a Japanese street, with separated booths and a relatively large seating area with Shoji styled decoration behind it. The drinks are also very reasonable prices, with them having 2-for-1 cocktails advertised everyday up to 10pm between Sunday and Thursday and then up until 7pn on the other days (however they were still doing it until 10pm on the Friday I went). The cocktails are all amazingly done, with creative names and brilliant garnishes. The whiskey are all Japanese too and very high quality. They do have a 10% service charge on all transactions (which isn't written on the menu, or at least I didn't see it). The only slight qualm I had was that the music doesn't fit the ambiance, however, I can understand that having city pop or J-pop playing wouldn't bring in as many customers as playing more popular music. All in all, will definitely be returning.

It’s great that they gave the 2 for £12 cocktail offer. Although the offer is great, the drinks are definitely on the sweeter side. I like how they have a boba cocktail, which was actually quite interesting. I enjoyed the passionfruit one the most and would recommend.

Fantastic little hidden gem tucked away in the NQ. Friendly staff who know how to make an excellent cocktail, every single time without fail. Casual setting with cool and atmospheric interior. If you're planning on going out-out or even just fancy a cheeky cocktail after work, this is the place to go. Also, 2-4-£10 until 19.00 weekdays. No-brainer really.

Arrived early, no queue, no crowd, dressed well, polite at the door… and promptly told “not tonight, mate.” Turned up with a female friend, and shock horror, the bouncers only wanted to let her in. Apparently I was “too drunk.” Now, their expert assessment was based on a single question: “Have you had a drink tonight?” I said yes (because, I don’t know, it’s a night out?), and that was apparently grounds for exile. Truly groundbreaking door policy. My friend asked if it was because I was “too manly” or “too gay” – and they fumbled to assure us that of course not, heavens no! Nothing like a bit of vague discrimination mixed with zero accountability. No crowd, no chaos, no reason – just a good old-fashioned brush-off. If you’re a guy thinking of going, maybe bring a disguise… or just don’t bother. Hard pass.

A security guard turnt me and another sober man away despite letting clearly drunk females in. When asked for his security ID he refused despite being legally obliged to produce it. He then began to swear at us. Absolutely ridiculous environment. Do not go here.
