Where to Stay in Lisbon When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I found this hostel to be a solid budget choice at the edge of Cais do Sodré with private rooms and female-only dorms, and some rooms even have balconies." - Matthew Kepnes

The 7 Best Hostels in Lisbon (Updated 2025)

"Housed inside an 18th-century palace in downtown Lisbon, this place offers free sangria (and coffee and tea) every day, cheap breakfast for 3 EUR, walking tours, and themed nightly dinners for about 12 EUR (Portuguese, tapas, vegan, Mexican, Italian); I liked the chill common area with games, consoles, and Netflix, the female-only dorms for added privacy, and the proximity to important monuments, museums, and the Bairro Alto party area." - Matthew Kepnes

I had such an amazing time at Lost Inn Lisbon! The hostel has a full kitchen where you can cook your own meals, the rooms are clean, and the cleaning staff does a great job keeping everything fresh. Reception was always welcoming and helpful. But what truly made my stay unforgettable was Valter. He went above and beyond to make me feel at home. He even helped me carry my heavy bags all the way up the stairs, made sure the hostel always felt safe, and really cared about everyone’s experience. I also noticed how he stuck to the hostel’s policies and ensured everything ran smoothly, which made me feel comfortable and secure. Without Valter, my stay just wouldn’t have been the same. Thank you so much to all the staff and especially Valter—you guys were amazing. I will definitely be coming back to visit, and I highly recommend this hostel to anyone traveling to Lisbon. If you stay here, make sure to say hi to Valter—he’s truly the best!

It's a nice hotel if you're staying with a team and sharing a room. It's clean, quiet, and cozy. And the staff are great—you can leave your suitcases and bags and go for a walk on departure day.

Hostels are always a unique experience and can feel like a roll of the dice, but the staff here make it a wonderful experience. It's my home away from home when in Lisbon. Shout-out to Valter for being a real one and being there for late night convos ❤️. Shout-outs to Alex, Robert, and Maria for the kindness and hospitality as well.

I had such a wonderful stay here! The beds are very comfortable, and the whole atmosphere feels welcoming and relaxed. The team is incredibly friendly and goes out of their way to make guests feel at home. A special shoutout to Ricardo — his sangria is absolutely delicious and not to be missed! I also felt extremely safe during my stay. Valter is always attentive, making sure the front door stays locked and that everyone shows their card when entering, which really gave me peace of mind. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a warm and safe environment. I’ll definitely be back someday!

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in! The location is perfect, just a short walk from Cais do Sodré station, Chiado Metro and the Pink Street. The building itself is beautiful, with azulejos inside and a cozy living room where it’s easy to meet and relax with other travelers. The dorms are spacious, with air conditioning, large and comfortable beds with privacy curtains, and big lockers that open with your key card. Each floor has two large bathrooms, one for men and one for women, each with 4ish toilets and showers. Everything very clean, smells fresh, and even the hairdryer is high quality. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. Something I loved was the free Portuguese caldo verde soup on Sundays, free sangria every night, and plenty of activities like walking tours and trips to Sintra. Highly recommended for solo travelers in Lisbon. I’ll definitely be coming back! Thanks guys :)

Amazing hostel if you’re looking to meet people 🙌 The staff all have great vibes and the free sangria every night at 8pm makes it super easy to make friends. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Lisbon. Um grande beijo para a Luana, a Maria, o Rodrigo e o Ricardo ❤️

Awesome breakfast, spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Also I must ask , what laundry detergent do you guys use to wash your guests clothes? The load of laundry your team did for me smells fantastic!
