Where to Stay in Lisbon When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I found this hostel to be a solid budget choice at the edge of Cais do Sodré with private rooms and female-only dorms, and some rooms even have balconies." - Matthew Kepnes

The 7 Best Hostels in Lisbon (Updated 2025)

"Housed inside an 18th-century palace in downtown Lisbon, this place offers free sangria (and coffee and tea) every day, cheap breakfast for 3 EUR, walking tours, and themed nightly dinners for about 12 EUR (Portuguese, tapas, vegan, Mexican, Italian); I liked the chill common area with games, consoles, and Netflix, the female-only dorms for added privacy, and the proximity to important monuments, museums, and the Bairro Alto party area." - Matthew Kepnes

I had such a wonderful stay here! The beds are very comfortable, and the whole atmosphere feels welcoming and relaxed. The team is incredibly friendly and goes out of their way to make guests feel at home. A special shoutout to Ricardo — his sangria is absolutely delicious and not to be missed! I also felt extremely safe during my stay. Valter is always attentive, making sure the front door stays locked and that everyone shows their card when entering, which really gave me peace of mind. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a warm and safe environment. I’ll definitely be back someday!

Rooms are clean and spacious, beds are comfy. Definitely one of the better hostels I’ve stayed at, plus the staff are super friendly and the free Sangria is amazing.

Amazing hostel if you’re looking to meet people 🙌 The staff all have great vibes and the free sangria every night at 8pm makes it super easy to make friends. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Lisbon. Um grande beijo para a Luana, a Maria, o Rodrigo e o Ricardo ❤️

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in! The location is perfect, just a short walk from Cais do Sodré station, Chiado Metro and the Pink Street. The building itself is beautiful, with azulejos inside and a cozy living room where it’s easy to meet and relax with other travelers. The dorms are spacious, with air conditioning, large and comfortable beds with privacy curtains, and big lockers that open with your key card. Each floor has two large bathrooms, one for men and one for women, each with 4ish toilets and showers. Everything very clean, smells fresh, and even the hairdryer is high quality. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. Something I loved was the free Portuguese caldo verde soup on Sundays, free sangria every night, and plenty of activities like walking tours and trips to Sintra. Highly recommended for solo travelers in Lisbon. I’ll definitely be coming back! Thanks guys :)

Awesome breakfast, spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Also I must ask , what laundry detergent do you guys use to wash your guests clothes? The load of laundry your team did for me smells fantastic!

I don't know how this place has such high ratings on Hostelworld - it's completely misleading. The rooms were absolutely disgusting, with filth and grime on the walls, bogers smeared in plain sight, and bathrooms that didn't even function. The shower doors were broken, toilets were literally covered with cardboard, black stuff hanging from the ceilings that looked like mold... BEWARE!! It was so bad I requested a refund - which they agreed to - but it never arrived, and they ignored all my follow-up emails. They have paid for their positive reviews, because what I experienced was nothing like what's advertised. If you're looking at this place because of good ratings, don't be fooled. This was THE WORST stays l've ever

Really great experience with the Lost Inn. Stayed here about a month ago for around one day on a stopover from Florence to NYC. Got a great experience with a nice traveler's tour of Lisbon.
