"Damp, dimly lit, and decorated with skulls, chandeliers, and stuffed animals, this quirky drinking establishment is part of the extensive cave system cut into the soft sandstone upon which Nottingham is built. Accessed via a dark and uninviting alley, through a heavily disguised door with a polished brass skull as a handle, a staircase leads into a basement beneath a 200-year-old building. Along a corridor in this basement, a further series of rock-cut steps lead into the cavernous void beneath the city. The final descent into the Lost Caves is by escort, as they have a strict maximum occupancy. Here, 26 feet below the venerable old George Hotel, which has accommodated guests as diverse as Charles Dickens and Elizabeth Taylor, is a most unlikely gin palace. When, why, and by whom these deep grottoes were excavated is unknown, however, they do appear to have been adapted for the purpose of storing and brewing ale on rock-cut ledges. Instead of holding barrels of beer, these rock ledges now make a cosy cushion-strewn perch upon which gin and cocktail aficionados can sample the bar’s latest below-ground beverage creations. It is also worth remembering that it’s just as difficult to find the way out of the Lost Caves as it is to find the way in, so visitors are advised to moderate their cave cocktail consumption with escape in mind! Know Before You Go The access to the Lost Caves is somewhere in the vicinity of the George Hotel and The Lost Property Bar. Dress warmly. Any more information would spoil the fun." - Capemarsh, erjeffery

Wow, what an incredible hidden gem! This isn’t your typical bar you’d just stumble upon, but that’s part of what makes it so special. The creativity and effort they’ve put into bringing this idea to life is truly impressive. We explored both the bar and the caves, and every moment felt like an experience. From the unique walk-throughs to the carefully crafted drinks, the music, and the quirky details, everything was thoughtfully done and completely unique. It’s a place that stands out in the best way, offering something truly different. Absolutely worth a visit if you’re looking for a memorable night out!

What an amazing experience! Lost Property is so fantastic! The experience is amazing, the staff were lovely and the rum is so good that we've ordered 3 bottles so it'll be delivered before we return from our trip! Most groups seemed to stay a short while but we were there over 2 hours! We couldn't decide what rums to try next! We did get doubles of the cherry, raspberry, smoked chilli rums but the butterscotch is an absolute must try! I would absolutely recommend Lost Property.

I am not sure why the reviews are so positive for this bar. It was incredibly dirty, sticky everywhere, no cleaning done by the staff, filthy floors and awful toilets. The staff themselves were uninterested, rude and unwelcoming. For my taste the music was too loud for any ambience unless shouting to each other is your bag. Now the positive. The location is great, the decor and building very cool and the cocktails for the price were about right. If they change one thing it would be to clean it. Until then go to the Hockley Arts Club.

I don't typically leave bad reviews, but the service when I was here on Friday 22nd November was awful. The bouncers were unnecessarily rude, the staff inside were the slowest I've encountered in years, and the music is so loud in every part of the bar that you can't possibly have a conversation without shouting in the ear of the person you're with. The only saving graces are that the drinks, when they were eventually made, were good, and that the venue itself with the caves is pretty cool. It's probably worth going once, but don't expect too much from the staff.

Lovely bar however unfortunate member of staff caused a scene, claiming that my partner had done something and he was going to check cctv. Put a sour taste in our mouth as we couldn’t sit and enjoy our cocktails and drinks. Staff member came back and said there was no issue, although we were left feeling uncomfortable as we felt like we had done something wrong. We spoke to another couple of lovely staff who refunded us for the drinks and we left as we just wanted to leave at this point. Embarassing and unnecessary.

Very strange experience, have to be let in by the door man and it isn't obvious where to go. Very cool though I loved being in a cave system. Smelt damp and everything was damp sure to the caves but to be expected. I'd go for a stop over but wouldn't stay. Staff were great.

Really cool atmosphere and vibe! Just having drinks in a cave is boujee and unique + the staff were lovely, finding us a table when it was already full! Given four stars because they don’t make the cocktails in the cave, they are pre-mixed (apparently) so whilst tasty 😋 they aren’t able to offer changes or adaptations
