"The Cookout is a joyous event that celebrates advancements, growth, and kinship within the Black community. It is characterized by its music, traditions, and cuisine, deeply rooted in Black American history, particularly Southern comfort food influenced by the history of colonial slavery and the antebellum era." - Andrea Byrd Andrea Byrd Andrea Byrd is a writer, poet, screenwriter, and storyteller based in the Midwest. My expectations were modest before trying Lot Que due to the amount of negative reviews. But, after trying it I must say that it exceeded my expectations. The meats were tender and flavorful and the sauces were all very good. The chicken wings are a must try, as well. They have ice cream and pints to go if that tickles your fancy. I will say that it does function more as a lunch spot than an evening dining experience. They do have some outdoor tables if you want to bring your pet.

I tried this place years ago when they first opened and had their own dining space. The food was pretty good. Then they were closed all the time, and now you have to order through Lot One. Tried again today and was so disappointed. The ribs had almost no meat. The burnt ends were rocks. Please do yourself a favor and get BBQ elsewhere. The Golden Mill has amazing BBQ that's great every single time.

I so wanted Lot Que to have good BBQ. The first time I went I got the pulled port sandwich and the meat was obviously leftover from previous day(s). I went again with the hope that the first day was just a fluke. But, with the second trip I found the brisket sandwich to be very very chewy and again not fresh. That brings me to today. I am writing this over a half eaten pulled pork sandwich. Most of the meet in the sandwich was so dry I couldnt chew it. Looking at the meat it was obvious half the meat was dried out from the air and overcooking. The other half was fairly fresh and definitely edible. Definitely mixed old meat with fresh meat. When you skip the real BBQ places, you get what is in the attached picture which was taken just 15 minutes after picking up the food.

Great pulled pork the sides at $5 each were very small!!!! The beans were not baked bean , more of a chili was good but the kids weren't a fan bc we were expecting baked beans . . . . The brisket was very salty as a NC born and raised bbq lover I respected the Carolina sauce but they charge extra for brisket and ribs this place is mediocre at best. For $10 I should get a half a casserole of Mac and cheese lol

Wife and I ordered to go. They were out of brisket. We both ordered burnt ends and we were both disappointed by them. They were overcooked and in some cases pure fat. The good news was the pastrami. It was unique and very flavorful. The ribs also had good flavor. The Mac and Cheese was fun with the bacon. Perhaps one day I might return to try the brisket but frankly there are too many alternate BBQ places in the metro that are better than Lot Q.

We had Lot One/Que cater our wedding, and it was awesome. We loved it and we got a lot of good feedback from our guests.

I had high hopes, since this place is literally part of the neighborhood. We bought a lot of food. 2lbs burnt ends, 1lb brisket, smoked wings and sides. I grew up in KC, so I’ve had good BBQ in my time and this place needs some work. Burnt ends are not supposed to actually burnt and dry, they were covered with sauce to coverup the fact they were burnt. The brisket was moist, but lacked true smoke flavor and seasoning. I will say the wings were good. Mac and cheese is good. For the price paid, I expected to have a higher quality BBQ. The search is still on for good BBQ in Denver.

Wow! What an awesome experience tonight for dinner! The Brisket and ribs were smoked to perfection. The Brisket was heartily sliced and perfectly tender. The baked beans were literally the best baked beans we've ever had in our life. Every sauce was home made and delicious. The Alabama white sauce (yes a white sauce in a BBQ restaurant) was a perfect compliment to the other sauces and a nice cool down after a little spice. The freshly pickled pickles topped off the whole meal. The freshest home made ingredients made our meal top notch. The staff was friendly and inviting. The owners greeted us and listened to our thoughts on everything. Very impressed. We will definitely be back again. Our new favorite local fare!
