My daughter and I stayed at the Lotte Palace for 4 days during our trip to NY. We booked through AMEX Hotels program, which helped offset the costs for a place like this plus also 3rd night free with the hotel currently. They also did upgrade us to a room which overlooked the courtyard and the absolutely stunning St. Patrick's Cathedral. The hotel staff were also very accomodating and we were able to get into our room a day ahead of time, amid concerns of how transportation might be with the blizzard that was moving in. Checking in was a breeze and service level across the board with front desk, the doormen, & housekeeping were excellent throughout our stay. The hotel itself is just stunning and a bit of a throwback which is exactly what we wanted to feel versus staying in a something more modern. The rooms were nice and clean and obviously a bit more dated, however, it was about the views from the room, the feeling of being immersed in the New York skyline, and the historic feel of the hotel itself. The location with NY was also fantastic spot for us, as we could easily walk to many of the areas of interest or if we needed subway access, that was also just a short walk away. The only ding and why I wouldn't rate this 5 stars is purely due to the criminally high cost of the attached restaurant. Even though we had a daily $100 credit to put towards the cost, it did not particular feel good to be paying $120-160 (including automatic 20% gratuity) for breakfast for 2 people. Couldn't imagine taking a family to breakfast here. They do have an excellent little attached shop to get coffees, bagels, baked goods, etc...and the gym inside the hotel was also fantastic. Overall, I did enjoy the experience and would come back, however, I would just warn others to be careful with in-house dining component and most of what they offer comes with a steep price attached.
