Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head

"Removed from the hubub of Waikiki, but close enough for a quick stroll to all of the restaurants, cafes, and shops, the Lotus Honolulu is perfect for those who love to be in the thick of the action as well as peace and serenity. The hotel boasts modern decor as well as peerless service. For a small daily "boutique fee," you will get free continental breakfast, on-site yoga classes, and use of beach-cruiser bikes. The fee also gives you access for two to the Honolulu Museum of Art, where you can see work that reflects the multicultural tenor of the city."

We had the very best time at Lotus Honolulu. The room was perfectly clean each day and we loved our view. The staff was welcoming and extremely accommodating. Especially loved the in-room espresso machines which saved us a lot each day. Rooms were fully equipped with everything we needed from microwave, fridge, safe, espresso, hair dryer, and robes with beach gear provide daily at no extra cost. We were treated better than any place we've stayed at even at more expensive hotels. We spent the most time working with Katie at the front desk who was lovely and allowed us to keep our belongings at the desk for several hours before check-in when we landed early in the morning and after check-out on our departure day for our late-night flight so we could spend the days travel days exploring without worrying about having our luggage with us. They went above and beyond for us in many ways. We also loved the location. The beach access in front of the hotel is smaller, but much more quiet and private-feeling than the beaches on Waikiki, The 15 minute walk to Waikiki was pretty and crossed through a gorgeous beach and park. We will 100% be staying here when we return to O'ahu.

Very pleased with my stay here. My family and I booked three rooms. We used the complimentary beach chairs, towels, washer/dryers, and bikes. The fitness room had everything I needed for a good workout. The rooms were clean and spacious. The location was perfectly away from the crowds of waikiki strip but not too far either. Highly recommend staying at this hotel.

My family of three had a fabulous stay at Lotus. Rooms are well appointed though mattress and pillows could be firmer. View of Diamond Head is out of this world and proximity of beaches is appreciated. Service across the board was wonderful and welcoming. Appreciated the well stocked convenience store in the property next door. Don’t miss dinner at least once at Arden!

Google
Wonderful stay!! The location is perfect if you want to stay just outside the hustle and bustle, but within walking distance! We greatly appreciated the smaller quieter beaches. Having the beach chair backpacks made it super easy to walk down and enjoy a beach day! What really made this place a great option was the service. A special shout out to Katie at reception who gave such personalized assistance and really treated everyone with such care! Additionally, my husband would like to specifically thank Jeremy at the bar. He was personable and gave wonderful suggestions both for food and drink and places to visit. I'd also note that our housekeepers were top notch, our room was spotless everytime we came back! The rooms are a little dated, but nothing concerning. I would say the doors closing from other rooms did echo, but we appreciated that there was no street noise. I feel like price point accurately reflected the rooms.

Google
Room was clean and comfy with a great view of Diamond Head, and a partial of the beach. Due to it's location at pretty much the end of the hotels on Waikiki, it was always nice and quiet. Drinks and food at Arden were both delicious (if pricey, but it's Waikiki, so the pricey bit just comes with the territory). Staff were friendly and helpful. Honestly, my only complaint is that there's only 1 elevator to the rooms for the hotel, & it's slow. We'd absolutely stay here again!

Google
It was a treat to be down at Diamond Head a bit distanced from Waikiki yet still convenient to all of the places we wanted to go. Our corner room had wonderful views. It was clean, spacious and well-appointed. The bed was comfortable and the A/C efficient when it was time to close all the doors. The onsite restaurant/bar was a pleasant surprise in cocktail and liquor offerings. Dessert was fantastic! Our only complaint was having just one elevator to serve 12 floors. We came back after a long day touring and had to climb a lot of stairs when the elevator was out of service. We came back down the stairs for a fire alarm the same night and were a bit nervous to take the elevator back up afterward!

Google
We loved staying here! It was quiet and clean as compared to staying closer to the shops/restaurants on Waikiki! The rooms are a bit outdated on the tech but we were out and about most of the time anyway. The hotel is a long walk from the bustling center of Waikiki, so be prepared to bring your walking shoes (it is safe and easy to walk, just far) or pay for parking/valet. We were greeted heartily upon check in and really appreciated the hospitality of the staff and their recommendations for food in the area.

We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Lotus Hotel. The location of this hotel is very quiet and close to a park and beach. Great views from the balcony. The room was large and very clean. The staff was amazing and very helpful. We are planning to stay here again on our next visit to Oahu.

Yelp
I called early to see if we could check in prior to the check in time but our room was not ready yet. However, the hotel does offer to hold your luggages so we left it with them while we went about our day. They were kind enough to call me back to let me know when the room was ready. During check in time, they provided us complimentary juice and a bottle of wine to celebrate our honeymoon. We booked an ocean view high floor room and they gave us the highest floor there was on 12th floor and a corner room. It had two balconies with the most amazing views overlooking diamond head on one side and the ocean on the other. The room and bathroom was spacious for 2 people but their shower was a bit small. There also provide complimentary reusable water bottles as well. Pro Tip: At check in, if you opt in to not have daily housekeeping, they offer 50% off the resort fees. This is great because you save money and are environmentally friendly!

Yelp
Incredible stay very peaceful two beaches in inn 2-4 min walk so wonderful and relaxing the front desk was amazing and the cleaning staff was wonderful about coming at whatever time was best for us! Def a repeat for us we loved it!!

Yelp
The Lotus was the perfect hotel for us. It is down at the end of the strip towards Diamond Head. It is still an easy walk to the center of Waikiki but the Lotus area is much more quiet. Our room was clean and modern and was only a very short walk, less then 3 minutes, to the beach. The hotel provided beach towels and beach chairs. They also had bikes available for hotel guests. The laundry room was also free for guests, We would definitely stay there again if we return to Honolulu.

Yelp
My mom and I stayed 2 nights here. It's a great location, outside of the hustle of downtown Waikiki. We booked a high floor room, which I definitely recommend. There were a number of hiccups I wasn't thrilled about. I'm giving it 4 stars for the location, the value, and (most of) the staff. LOVED - Location near to Diamond Head w/ gorgeous sunrise views - Lanai overlooking both Diamond Head and views of the ocean - Close access to Kaimana Resort next door for Hau Tree and their cafe and larger beach - The bathrooms are large, and the showers have a little seat you can sit while you soak your feet. - They offer you free beach towers and beach chairs (that's what the facility fee covers). - Free newspapers in the lobby and filtered water dispenser - Free wine hour in the afternoons DIDN'T LOVE - The staff are young and well-meaning but inexperienced and not very professional. The front desk person (I won't write her name here) was very "by the book" robotic and not warm or helpful. I had booked a room w/2 beds so I wasn't sharing a bed with my mother, but they didn't have that in their system so we had to get a roller bed for one night. She didn't offer any discount or even to move us into a proper room the next night; I had to request it explicitly. She then found us a great room next door for the following night with two beds. I'm glad she agreed to a solution to the problem their system created, but I'm not happy that I had be the one to solve it. She wasn't apologetic about it, either. - Their system is so confused, I discovered on my receipt that they billed my room to someone else's credit card. I called back to correct it and am still waiting for a return call from their manager 5 days later. I guess someone else is just going to be paying for my room and they don't really care? Cool cool. PRO-TIP ABOUT PARKING I had read the Tripadvisor reviews about the new valet-only parking policy of $40/night(!). Luckily, there is ample free street parking right across the street on Kalakua Ave on the park side -- cars start to empty out after dark after sports practices end. Parking meters start at 10am, BUT there is a spot WITHOUT A METER which I was able to park at both nights and leave for half the day without paying a dime. I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to stay here, but next time I'd probably check out Kaimana next door instead.

Yelp
We were in a pinch and needed a hotel for 2 nights. Yoobi at the front desk was able to help us. It ended up being one of the best parts of our stay on Oahu! Thanks for having an excellent staff!

Yelp
First, let's talk about customer service. The hotel staff know exactly what it means and they ALL make you feel like the Aloha is real. The room was excellent, and the cleaning staff had our room sparkling every day. They work so hard! They gifted me a bottle of wine for my birthday, wished me a good morning every morning, and always a welcome back in the eves. The location is far enough from the main strip to not be in the thick of the drag racer boys but close enough that we walked to the Barefoot cafe, onto Waikiki, and ventured to Diamond head on another day. We will be back and hope the Lotus keeps things exactly the same.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I loved the Lotus Honolulu! I had booked the Lotus through the Southwest Airlines website. The price was decent (for Hawaii) and the location was near Waikiki Beach, but a little ways away in a quieter area called Diamond Head. Also, I received 16,000 Southwest Rapids Rewards miles for our stay! Miles are always a great bonus. The hotel is situated near a large park. It is not right on the beach, but the beach is literally a two minute walk, on the other side of the hotel next door. We never had any difficulty finding a parking spot. The front desk staff were exceptional! Everyone we interacted with were very friendly, helpful, and upbeat. They offered lots of suggestions about places to eat in the area. Our favorite restaurant, by the way, was the Barefoot Beach Cafe, only a 7 - 10 minute walk from the Lotus. It had been recommended by another Yelper who had "eaten all her meals there." We ended up eating 90% of our meals there because the food was so good and the prices were reasonable. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but it was quite high end, so we did not give it a try. There is also a well-stocked convenience store at the hotel next door, in case you need water, snacks, toiletries, etc. Our room was very spacious and the air conditioning worked well. The room seemed to be soundproof. We could not hear our neighbors on either side of us. The bed was comfortable and there was a large TV in the room. The toiletries were "Lather", which is a great brand. The balcony offered a view of Diamond Head and a partial view of the ocean. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and bird-watching at dusk. There is an amenities fee, which covers parking, bike rental, beach chair rental, and yoga classes. I did not know about the yoga classes until I checked out the Lotus website. I was thrilled to receive a free private yoga session on Saturday in the park. It was really an awesome experience. They even provided a yoga mat! Just make sure you sign up with the front desk ahead of time. The only bummer was the lack of places to charge our phones in the room. Otherwise, we had a wonderful visit and would stay at the Lotus again.

Yelp
Great hotel, super friendly staff. It was nice to be away from the touristy Waikiki strip. Most people around hotel are locals, except the hotel guests of course. Met some nice locals who chatted with us about the area and the resident monk seals. Grab your camera! Only a 5 minute walk to the Waikiki restaurants and shopping (Kalakaua Ave). Upon arriving, James helped us with our bags and helped us pick a nice parking spot for our rental car (free parking). Plenty of parking under the hotel structure, right in front of the main hotel doors. Rhian checked us in and even helped take pictures of us near the fountain (she saw that we were struggling with selfies, haha). We saw James and Rhian most of our trip, and they were both super friendly and helpful. Our room on the 12th floor was fantastic. Views of both Diamond Head and the Ocean. We sat on that balcony many times, sipping coffee and eating snacks. It was so relaxing. We went snorkeling off the beach just next to the Outrigger Canoe Club (it's a public beach). Super short walk from hotel. Grab towels at front desk. Water was clear and warm. Saw 3 turtles and a bunch of fish. There's an outdoor shower next to hotel to rinse off sand. We loved the TBD Bar + Lounge...and the 2 free glasses of wine during the 5pm-6:30pm social for hotel guests. We ordered food and cocktails too, which were delicious. Bartender, Ostein, is a master at making pretty, delicious drinks. We also saw James, doing double duty as a server. Awesome! Julie, the hotel manager, was there greeting guests. She is so nice. Thanks for a great trip, Lotus! See you all next time.

Yelp
This room is not fancy but very beautiful and room. Lanai was clean and pretty roomy. Love the view and the room amenities were perfect! Thank you Zee and Christieann who were very welcoming and pleasant. Zee made checking in easy. Christieann made my morning with her very pleasant, friendly, full of Aloha greeting. Much Mahalo to Lotus Honolulu, Zee and Christieann! If y'all want a friendly beautiful right on the beach hotel...this is it!

Yelp
This hotel continues to shine. Great rooms, beds, location and most especially the exceptional staff. Their warmth and efficiency make a stay there comfortable and easy.

Yelp
We just got back from a four night stay here. It's our favorite hotel in Honolulu. A short walk from all the restaurants and shops in Waikiki but far enough away to not feel too crowded. We love our room and the view of Diamond Head. And the staff, especially Anne and Rhian were so helpful with any questions we had and always greeted us with a warm "welcome back!" They're delightful, as is this hotel.

Beau D.

Yelp
Costumer service and location was great. We thought we paid more $$ for "ocean view" but ended up looking at mostly a parking lot. Hidden fees charged once you've checked out and home..

Yelp
This is an edited version of the original as I said I would make note if Lotus decided to do the right thing and honor our original reservation agreement. I would like to thank the general manager Ms. Arigo for responding to my previous review and providing contact information. Also thank you to Ms. Yamashita for taking the time to exchange several emails in order to settle this dispute. The original post is below and I sincerely hope they took my suggestions to avoid this issue in the near future. Our stay was enjoyable, the staff was very friendly and their restaurant Arden was a delight. Christieann gave us great recommendations where to go for local dining and sightseeing. The employees here really do deserve 5 stars but I averaged my rating to a 4 because I would only give our room 3 stars. There were issues with the bed, a buckling floor and peeling wall paper at the seams. It was not so bad though that it was going to ruin our 1st visit to the islands. The biggest complaint I had is when we checked in and we were blind sided by a policy change regarding parking. Three months in advance I paid for our reservations (except for resort fees). At that time the parking policy was self park or pay for valet. Somewhere in the next three months management decided to make it only valet and charge $40 a day. I knew I had to pay a resort fee of $273.68 at check in, they charged me $608.72. Its important to note if I left that fees apply for cancellations within 72 hours and now we would need to find another place to stay too. Sure companies have policy changes all the time, but they chose not to inform registered guest of the change until they checked in. This way you are not given the option to shop around again and cancel should you so choose to do so before you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. The new policy should have been only applied to new reservations made after said changes took effect where the new fees would have been included in your quoted room rate. During our stay they also opened a gym which was adding another $10 to the daily amenities fee. Between the two guest were getting hit with an additional $50 a day at check in .

Yelp
The hospitality & customer service training is probably the strongest I've seen on this island & possibly all of Hawaii. When combined with the picturesque location, it's clear to see why this hotel would have won multiple travel awards over the years. Unfortunately, the experience fell apart significantly after check-in for me: I booked through a third party so this may just be the least-effort room appointed for those integrations, or the property management is largely in decline. YMMV. Our bathroom had the most black mold I've seen during these last few weeks in Hawaii. Not just in poorly-lit corners of the shower, but also in the dirty grout lines (walls & floors), in-between the wallpaper, & on the walls. The shower is very small (4"x4"?) so it's puzzling on how the cleaning standards can be so low, in & out. The room was generally not very-well maintained: cracks in the ceiling-paint, corrosion on the fire sprinklers (!), peeling baseboards & wallpaper, dead bugs INSIDE the thermostat & bathroom light fixtures... I originally planned to extend my stay & try a larger room, but upkeep + other issues (restaurant, smoking guests, noise), dissuaded me from doing that. Very disappointing & would not recommend (especially room 923).

Yelp
We booked Lotus partially because they had free bike rentals and free parking for guests. Let me say: both came in handy! Lotus is a small hotel but we loved our stay. The people at the front desk were all very friendly. There was one older woman in particular who we loved. She always chatted w us and helped us get bikes to ride for the day. The room was very comfortable. I have no complaints about the room or bathroom, etc. The second floor has a restaurant and bar, as well as free wine tasting at certain hours. We went for wine tasting and the bar and enjoyed both. There are only 4 bikes to rent but we never had any trouble getting a bike. It was very easy to peddle to Waikiki beach or go to the shops and restaurants easily via bike. We also rented a car for our trip, so it was nice to have free parking. We never had an issue getting a parking spot. Overall, I'd def recommend the hotel for your stay! Whenever we had a long day out, I was always glad to come back "home" go lotus! :)

Yelp
Angelica at the front desk was a sweetheart we had to have our house fumigated so we booked a two night stay at the lotus and Angelica gave us a beautiful room with a lanai that was cleancomfortable we had ocean view ‍also could see diamond head Angelica made our state quite pleasant. It exceeded our expectations. PS all staff members were lovely. Even the person who cleaned our space and brought us clean towels and extra espresso pods~much aloha what a great place to staycation. It's close enough to everything in Waikiki. We also walked into Waikiki to have dinner. Excellent spot very spacious rooms. Bathrooms were beautiful and clean. A couple perks were free parking pass self park, which was very convenient Mahalo Lotis.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for six days during our honeymoon. The hotel has views of the ocean on one side and Diamond Head in the distance on the other side plus a local park across the street. It's located close to Waikiki that you could walk or bike there, but it's further away from the touristy areas which made the area nice and calm. It's a quick walk to the beach behind the hotel. We went there almost every day. As far as amenities, the hotel probably doesn't offer as much as other pricier hotels. There's no spa like some hotels. They do have a nice restaurant called TBD on the 2nd floor which we didn't try out. However, the restaurant is only open for dinner and open just Wednesday - Sunday. The front desk offers free beach towels, beach chairs, and bikes, all that can be rented on first come, first serve basis. The lobby has some nice seating areas but it can get warm during the day. There's also a separate bike rental stand down the road that has plentiful bikes. The room in itself was not terrible but it had its flaws. The wood floors and furniture are nice and the balcony view is beautiful. The room had a microwave, flat screen TV, and mini fridge, too. The bathroom was somewhat small and the shower has an odd tiny bathtub that you can't really sit in comfortably. We ran the AC very cold because it took forever to cool the room, which was especially annoying after being out in the sun during the day. The bedsheets were run of the mill and not very breathable. I learned to sleep above most of the covers to avoid getting hot. Also, the flooring beneath the bed would creak quite loudly when getting on or off the bed. Other than that, the room was fine. Service at the hotel was great. We were always greeted with a smile and the staff would provide helpful information about local sites, shops, and restaurants to visit. We checked out of the hotel but our flight wasn't until the evening and the front desk allowed us to keep our bags there until we could leave and also gave me a beach towel to shower off using their outdoor shower after a trip down to Waikiki. It was much appreciated and I was glad I didn't smell like sweat and ocean on the trip back home. Overall, the room had its flaws but the service and location here were great

Yelp
Great Location to Avoid Congested Waikiki! I have stayed at this property several times some10+ years ago when the property was under the W Hotels flag. At that time this hotel was hustling and bustling, it was uniquely furnished as many W Hotels were, had a great restaurant which turned at to a night club at the turn of the clock. It was an awesome place. The ownership changed and it is now the Lotus Diamond Head Hotel. I still love the location; it is away from the crowd and noises of Waikiki. It is, however, close to an area where there are many local hidden gems for dinner, snacks, and other conveniences. We normally drove closer to Waikiki on the other side of the Kalakaua, parked at the meter and had a quick walk to enter the Waikiki area. Great location!!! Upon check-in we were told our room on the 11th floor had plumbing problems and we were offered the same room on the 9th floor for 2 days and then we would move up and get a one-night discount. I did not want to interrupt our stay with the repacking and moving the rooms and offered to stay on the 9th floor instead. I should have asked, but we were not offered the same discount. I thought it would just be common sense since they just offered it. Each floor has 5 rooms, and our room was in the middle and still was considered the Premium Ocean View Room. I could not tell the difference since it appeared that all the rooms had the same view, except for lower floors. I would have thought that corner units would be considered Premium. Now, the hotel itself. It shows wear and tear, and we think it needs some attention, it needs freshening up. The room's décor was pretty much basic, it was not bad, and it was not fantastic. It was comfortable, but not 4 star comfortable. Our shower drain was not operable, and we had to remove it to drain the little tub that it had. It is a pretty much standing shower, there was no full-size tub available. The room had a small refrigerator and a microwave. This hotel does not have room service. There is a restaurant at the hotel which appeared to be open in the evenings only, but we did not really see many patrons throughout the week. Prices looks high ($$$$). There is free parking with in and out privileges which is a BIG deal in Waikiki. Definitely a plus. The front desk staff has been very kind and friendly throughout our stay. Very pleasant ladies. Maid service was not good. It was inconsistent in timing and services. We had to aske for additional soap and towels several times before we got it. I bought out own soap in the convenient store nearby, at Russell's see a separate review. Overall, for the quality of the hotel, service, amenities, and overall feel, considering the price, this is a solid 3-star hotel. It is definitely not 4.

Yelp
Experienced a staycation and we found the staff, especially Melissa, Zee and Christieann to be exceptionally friendly, helpful, efficient and customer service oriented! Rooms were great with fabulous views and Melissa, Zee and Christieanne made us, and other guests, feel extremely welcomed! Great place to stay and the self-parking is a special perk! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Y'all this place was amazing! My husband and I arrived on Thursday evening and was greeted by 3 different people at the front desk. They greeted us with a "Aloha" and a smile.. Everyone was polite and happy to see us.... The gentleman that was there, went in the back to grab 2 teas and 2 lavender oiled towels for us!!! It was such a nice gesture since we had been flying all day. We were tired and didn't want to go anywhere, so they mentioned the restaurant TBD was open upstairs and for us to call from our room to order. Hhhuuunnneeeyyyy... this room did not disappoint. It was a corner room that had 2 balconies!!! The first balcony had a sliding door that we kept open cause of the breeze being up on the 12th floor.. This balcony was facing Diamondhead as well as Kali'ua park. This park was so big.. it reminded me of Central Park... The other balcony had to sliding doors that opened up to a spacious balcony and ocean and hotel views!! This room was nice.. coming from the "main land" the bathroom was a little dated! The tub was small. However, the bathroom was spacious enough for us both to move around at the same time in bathroom. Everyone was nice and helpful.... They have bikes for the guest to use as well as chairs for the beach. The bed was super comfy... sometimes beds are hit and miss when staying in hotels...!! Long story short.. Can't wait to go back to this place!! We are planning our nxt trip.. I will ask for the same room

Yelp
We are delighted to discover this hotel near Diamond Head in Honolulu! The staff is so friendly and helpful. The valet parking is included. They also offer complimentary wine during Happy Hour and complimentary coffee in the morning in the lobby. The hotel is located just steps from the Kaimana Beach, which is south of Waikiki Beach and away from so many people there. It is also just steps from Michels beautiful restaurant. It is a quiet and lovely little hotel, without the huge expense of so many hotels in Honolulu. Our room is on the corner of the 6th floor. It has two lanais (patios). One has a view of Diamond Head. The other has an ocean view. The location is great near the Kapiolani Park. They have a farmers market on Saturday & this weekend they are having the Waikiki Artfest. Loving it! I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
SUCH a pleasant experience staying here! The views are phenomenal (we had a partial ocean view), you can get a great view of diamond head and see the ocean very clearly. It's also located away from the crowds in Waikiki but at the same time super walkable to any restaurants and Waikiki. We took advantage of the free bike rentals and biked on the diamond head bike trail. But the best thing about the hotel is the NICEST staff I've ever met. They are so accommodating, helpful, and friendly. Christi Ann especially went above and beyond to make our experience great and she truly made us feel welcomed to the island. The other guys that work there are so chill and nice too. I can't thank you guys enough!! Would definitely come back to stay again.

Yelp
Good experience at the Lotus Honolulu. The staff was friendly and helpful. The chef at the restaurant is the owner of the hotel as well. We had a good partial view of the ocean. Interior decor appeared new and trendy. The beds were comfy and the amenities were great. Included beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, and bikes. Parking is included in the amenity fee. They have free wine during happy hour too. The restaurant itself is Aok, good for drinks and is only open in the evening. There is a small beach near the hotel. Overall good experience, slightly far from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki beach. 3-star rating as cleanliness could be better, especially during Covid times. I was also initially charged a lower amount on my credit card, later became a higher amount.

Yelp
I am super upset and disappointed at how the hotel handled our situation. The travel restrictions to Honolulu were that we needed to test negative for the state. We went through our provider Kaiser who subsequently sent us to one of their partner test sites. We bought a 4 night package with Lotus Honolulu due to the reviews and how hospitable they were. Upon arrival at the airport customs tells us that the lab that Kaiser sent us to was not on their "list" so therefore we needed to mandatory quarantine for about 2 weeks. Yet, Kaiser itself is on the list. Being that our trip was only several days basically we need to fly and leave on the spot (buy new flights out of pocket) or we need to go figure it out on our own while quarantined in the hotel. All day the two of us have been trying to figure out this mess. We were calling Kaiser in Honolulu frantically trying to set an appointment to test asap only to be told the run around that we needed an approval from the Dept of Defense to even go test at Kaiser. We called the Dept of Defense only to be greeted by volunteers that didn't even understand their own system. Meanwhile my 5 yo daughter is asking over and over when we can go to the beach. I attempt to get ice and find that my key doesn't work when I try to get back to the room. So pretty much a little mini prison time. 2K+ spent in a room burned with a scarlet letter. They don't even want to accept our tip when they drop things off really treating us like we have leprosy. I get it if I didn't test at all but just imagine how livid I am at this point. We then called Expedia to request a refund to get us out of here so we can at least enjoy the weekend back home. Expedia calls the hotel and the hotel owner (some business owner) essentially says that they will not refund because it's a quarantined room so they are not able to refund us as they will clean the place for two days after we leave (conveniently up to the date of our check out). This adds salt to the wound, the hotel owner refused to speak to us directly. I am trying to make sense of it all. I understand cleaning but it doesn't add up because the hotel is literally at 30% capacity at most. Also, if we were to have stayed our entire stay they still would need to "keep the room empty for two days." These "losses" would have already been accounted for in the good amount of money we paid per night. The owner (through his staff) tells us that Expedia is responsible to refund us and then when we called Expedia they say the owner is responsible. So pretty much the average paying american gets screwed. We are upset because I know the owner could have refunded us and if they had done that then Expedia could have gotten us a flight out and we would be enjoying a small family vacation. I thought it was a good idea to travel to Hawaii because the travel website seemed simple enough but there is literally chaos as to how to deal with this mess and we feel totally screwed over by deep pockets who don't care about anything but their money. But aside from being upset about the above to be honest the price is not appropriate. The chairs are dirty, pillow is flat, bed is old with some old furniture, outdated shower and some nasty tiles in the hall and they just put some sheets over those cheap thin blankets. It is not the 4 or 5 star hotel price. So I'm feeling extra bamboozled. This is so wrong. My blood is boiling.

Yelp
My Hubs and I stayed here for four nights back in October 2017. I've been remiss in writing a review, but better late than never. We loved the Lotus's location. It's close to Waikiki but far enough away that you're not caught in the hustle and bustle of tourists. We also had a beautiful view of Diamond Head from our balcony. Our hotel room was spacious and comfortable, but what made staying here great was the staff. From the housekeeping to the valets to the front desk staff to the manager--everyone here was super friendly and helpful. Talk about Aloha Spirit--everyone here had tons of it! Special props to Travis who recommended so many great restaurants to us and also gave us parking tips for Hanauma Bay. Thanks to everyone for making our stay so awesome!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here. The friendly staff, spacious room, beautiful views and location in Diamond Head made this a wonderful stay. I would repeat the experience in a heartbeat.

Yelp
Best kept secret in Honolulu if you want to stay away from the crowds in a boutique hotel you cant go wrong get a high floor ocean view room. We had as high floor corner room with views of Diamond Head and the Ocean. Christieann was so friendly and accommodating. as were all the staff. The beach is only steps from the property and they have beach chairs, towels and bikes to use. Will stay here again.

Yelp
I had such a nice time here. My room was perfect, just what I asked for, a king bed. The staff were great! I first met Zee, she is fun with a good sense of humor. And KristiAnne is so nice and well organized. I'm definitely coming back. The hotel is just far enough from the busy side of Waikiki, but close enough for a nice walk. The beaches are nearby and not crowded.

Yelp
Went here for our honeymoon with our 2 year old. We booked a high floor ocean view with a king bed. When we arrived they offered us 2 double beds on the top floor (12). I'm 6'2" and would never fit in a double bed... which I'm shocked hotels even offer double beds at this point. They said the only other option was the 9th floor partial ocean view with a king size bed. We took this out of necessity and asked for a partial refund. No refund was given. We then asked for a crib. Unfortunately they had no access to a crib so our honeymoon consisted of my new wife and I sharing a king size bed with our 2 year old. We found the Lotus to not be accommodating at all and fairly unfriendly with the exception of the housekeepers which were great. For the price, there are many better options. Look elsewhere for your stay.

Yelp
Absolutely an amazing hotel! So beautiful and luxurious here. And so moderately priced. Less than $200 a night for such a fine hotel in Waikiki right outside of Diamond Head and only a 2 minute walk to the beach. Wine and snack time is 4pm-530pm every day. Beautiful seating in the lobby area to enjoy your wine and snacks. The rooms are big and the views are breath taking. Our patio has a partial ocean view and a perfect view of Diamond Head and when we walk out our door, we have a view of the city. Only a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki Beach, this hotel is the perfect place to be if you're looking for something still in the city, but away from the crowd. The Honolulu Zoo is across the street and Diamond Head is within walking distance of the hotel. Amenities included in the price are parking, beach towels, bikes, shuttle to Ala Moana and the Art Museum. What an awesome place!

Yelp
I need to preface my review with the fact that the Government actually chose this location for me and footed the bill to boot. Thanks, Uncle Sam! On the smaller side, but very nice! Located In Waikiki and almost right on the beach. Close enough for argument sake, anyway. Walking distance to the zoo and a lot of restaurant choices. They loan you bicycles, beach chairs and towels, all inclusive I believe. Valet parking only, which is nice and they hook you up with cold bottled water as you roll out for the day. The staff is very nice and personable, always ready to make your stay pleasurable, which obviously should be expected at a place of this caliber, but these guys even remember your name, which is impressive. My only issue after staying there for a week would be the morning coffee selection provided in your room. I know, I know, beggars shouldn't be choosey, right? Well as a morning coffee person I am choosey. There's an espresso machine and cups too small to accommodate the amount of espresso being brewed, if that makes sense. Your cup is filled literally to the brim and you're forced to dump a little out just so it's functional. I know that may seem very trivial, which it is, but I'd just rather have a traditional Keurig setup and dispense with the fancy version they're trying to provide. Great A/C and comfy beds! The hotel has its own version of a redbox with free movie rentals that you play in a provided PlayStation 3. If I were a gamer I guess I'd enjoy getting that on as well. In summation, even if I were springing for it, I'd stay there again.

Yelp
I am a local resident and currently moving to the mainland. Found this gem of a hotel while looking for pet friendly lodging. First, the service is 5 stars all around. From the moment we drove up to the valet I knew we chose the right place to stay. It is among other condos and next to a beautiful beach. Kapiolani Park is right across the street, great for exercising or just strolling. I love this hotel most because it is out of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki but within walking distance of it. Rooms are nicely decorated and stocked with refrigerators and coffee maker. We have been here twice now and the noise is nonexistent. They have coffee and a latte maker in the lobby along with nightly wine and entertainment. I just can't say again how much I love this hotel. I will be coming back here when we visit Hawaii in the future.

Yelp
We had absolutely horrendous experience at this hotel. Please be aware if you are member of military. This hotel and the general manager, Carly Clement, were utterly terrible in handling the situation when we were unwillingly exposed to illegal marijuana smoking in their hotel. Since our house has been tented for termites removal, we decided to stay at this hotel for one night. We are not able to stay in the room which we reserved as the front desk informed us that previous guests smoked marijuana in the room and it had strong smell. They were aware of this illegal activity in their hotel. In the morning, we woke up to overwhelming smell of marijuana in our room. We notified front desk. They sent us house keeper to find a source but the house keeper could not articulate the people and location where the smell is coming. We found out the smell in our room was coming from the vent in the bathroom also, house keeper told us whole rooms in the building smells of marijuana. As we were checking out the hotel, we talked to front desk. My SO's chain of command asked for the police report and written statement from manager of the hotel for the proof and documentation. We made the police report right away but could not get a hold of manager till late next day even though we called hotel several times, we were told she was not there and they could not find her. When we finally got a hold of Carley Clement, she not only refused to write a report for us, but also told us "she is not ruling us out as suspects" (exact words) even though we are the one made a report to front desk and made police report. She also told us she was not aware of the situation till now. We got an impression of what she is about is that she was trying to protect her legality but does not care about our lives and safety as guest of her hotel. If my SO got drug tested (as well as myself) and tested positive, our career can be ruined. This whole hotel and Carley Clement, risked our livelihood by exposing us to illegal substance and still, bluntly refused to take responsibility. Please avoids staying at this hotel if you care about your career and life. It is not worth it at all.

Yelp
Fantastic oasis of serenity just steps away from Waikiki. Close enough to walk to the excitement of Honolulu's main tourist district yet far enough away to get a peaceful nights sleep. Staff friendly and helpful. Front desk manager Christieann makes sure everything runs smoothly from check-in to departure. Even arranged a high-end taxi at reasonable prices. Would stay again.

Yelp
The General Manager was very rude. My friends and I rented the penthouse and my boyfriend came to pick me up. He was waiting downstairs in the car, pulled off to the side. Instead of politely asking him what he was doing, the General Manager harassed him, held onto the window of the car and aggressively questioned him about who he was waiting for. This was very unnecessary, and I was very offended when I came down to all of this. I've never had a hotel treat it's customers so rudely. I was going to write a good review about the room, but the fact that this hotel is run by someone who treats others this way is the very reason for this one star review.

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed 5 nights here for our babymoon and first-time visit to Hawaii. We wanted to stay in a quieter, less traffic area but still close to the tourist spots (5-10 minutes drive to Waikiki and Ala Moana). Our room was very spacious, and had strong AC and wi-fi connection. Bed and linens were comfortable. The staff (front desk, cleaning, and valet) were always cheerful and smiling - mahalo for the aloha welcome! The daily resort fee covered beach chair + towel rental, bike rentals, valet parking, and happy hour drinks. We also received a free water bottle, and refilled it with their filtered water in the lobby - very convenient. Just wish there was a gym on-site! But we got our workout in by walking/running the scenic path/green space outside, surrounded by towering banyan trees - very peaceful. You can also rent complimentary bikes from the hotel. Hiking at the popular Diamond Head Crater is also nearby. Overall, would recommend staying if you prefer a quieter area of Honolulu, and don't care for a gym or swimming pool.

Yelp
I was in this hotel lobby. I was getting a cup of water. The host asked me if I was a guest and if not I wasn't allowed to drink their water. Excuse me, but why put out the water in a big dispenser on a table in the middle of the lobby if you don't allow guests or visitors to drink the water? Management seriously needs to step in and reprimand this behavior

Yelp
This hotel is a gem. There's only 5 rooms per floor and they're quite beautiful with wonderful views. The beds are very comfortable, great coffee and all the little amenities. There are a couple of beautiful little beaches that are rarely crowded. You can see Waikiki down the way but this is a gentle oasis. But the best part of this hotel are the people. Two in particular are standouts. Christieann at the Front Desk could not have been sweeter and warmer. She was a joy to deal with and so kind and warm. We felt very well taken care of. The hero of the story, though, is Arnold the maintenance man. We already knew he was a kind and very competent gentlemen who fixed a couple things in our room, but we had no idea he was a super-hero! Near the end of our stay our door lock broke and we could not get in no matter what we tried. Arnold came up and did everything he could, but after a while said - "I'm getting my harness". He came back and clambered from one balcony to the next ten flights up to get into our room and open our door. He then promptly replaced our lock and cheerfully bid us a good night. It was like a movie! We have a great story to tell now. We were delighted in every way with our stay at Lotus Honolulu. You will be too.

Yelp
This was the third time I have stayed at Lotus. I love this hotel for so many reasons. First, we like to do things all over the island and because we are leaving cold weather for a sunny vacation, Waikiki (even with its busy streets and vibrant nightlife), is a good winter choice because we can do our thing on the North Shore, or the West side and head back to Waikiki after dark (6:00-6:30 or so) and still have things to do in town. But I don't want to be right in the middle of all that commotion and that's reason #1 I love the Lotus. It's at the far end of the Waikiki strip, at the foot of Diamond Head, with really only one or two other small hotels near it but with ample parks and beach front. It's also more of a smaller, boutique hotel. Most days we didn't even encounter other guests, just the friendly staff. They don't have a pool, but we can swim in a pool at home. They are basically right on the beach and we would prefer to swim there. You can get out of Waikiki from the quiet side of the strip and be on your way to another part of the island in minutes. Reason #2 I love the Lotus is the staff! They couldn't be nicer, more helpful or more courteous. Everyone is so cheerful, greets you with a smile asks about your plans for the day, or maybe offers some advice of things going on, etc. We particularly like all the valets for parking. These folks are always so helpful, if they spot you in the lobby they are already pulling your car around, opening the door for you or just greeting you with a friendly "Aloha". They also have been great at giving us a heads up on traffic situations or closures that may affect our trip away. Love all these folks, and we really miss them when we leave. Reason #3, we love the rooms! Always very clean, and bright! The staff does a great job while we are away cleaning the room in the morning. Then when we get back from dinner they have come to close the shutters and leave a lamp on for our return. The rooms are a decent size for Waikiki, and allow for a chair, foot rest, a desk and TV as well. The beds are the most comfortable beds of any hotel I have stayed at. I used to travel a lot for work and still do a fair bit on vacations or for work and these beds are the only ones I get a decent rest away from home. The views are spectacular! You won't get a better view of Diamond Head from a hotel on the island. If you want an ocean view, they have that as well. We often get some of both. It's really fantastic. The Lotus is our #1 choice for a hotel stay in Oahu and I can't wait to visit them again!

Yelp
https://photos.app.goo.gl/mQQoNGZxfGphG6JV2 First off, my surprise birthday vacation for my mother to Hawaii got off to a terrible start due to a hot, stuffy, moldy and dilapidated condo rental via Airbnb. We left that awful accommodation almost immediately and search for more suitable living spaces. We happily stumbled upon the Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head on HotelTonight (excellent ratings). The Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head was willing to match and beat the price on HotelTonight and allowed us to book directly with them. Marcie, the front desk agent at the time of our arrival, was so sweet, kind and accommodating. She was the reason that we chose this property). We stayed in room 422 for our first night's stay, a room that featured two queen beds, marble bathroom, mini refrigerator and microwave (available upon request if not already in the unit). Rooms were spacious with a great mountain and ocean views from the balcony Much to our surprise, we were upgraded upon request by the kindness and generosity of the hotel manager, Dean, the following morning to a higher unit on the corner (825) that featured two balconies (one oceanfront, the other mountain, and oceanview). Like Marcie ensured that we chose the Lotus the evening before, Dean ensured that we had no reason to look elsewhere and stay.... and stay we did! All the staff (valet {Travis, Dev and Yure}, maids, front desk personnel {Marcie, JR "William"}, the hotel manager {Dean}, etc.) were extremely down-to-earth, kind, courteous and overall quite helpful. They were indispensable in helping erase the initial terrible experience we had at an Airbnb that almost ruined the surprise Hawaii trip for my mother for her birthday. It is without hesitation and definitely without reservation that I highly recommend the Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head for a smart-upscale, boutique property and a warm, personalized, Aloha! experience. The daily resort fee covers the prompt and courteous valet parking, beach towels, beach chairs, bicycle rentals, as well as the shuttle that takes guests to the main areas in Waikiki. Daily Happy hour between 4:00pm and 6:00pm with red and white wine with bar snacks (like popcorn, pretzels, etc.) Daily Hawaiian coffee and tea in the lobby from 6:00am to 10:00pm

Yelp
I was already in love when the yelp and website pictures/reviews. Made a MISTAKE by booking ONLY half our stay We stayed here beginning of November 2019 to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary/Honeymoon. Checking in took awhile because of their system issues. We stayed on the 5th floor with partial ocean view. It is an obstructed view but it didn't bother us. To our left we had a view of diamond head and the park. Every morning the view was perfect enough for us. Our room had 2 queen size beds, decent size balcony, spacious bathroom and the room itself was a good size. This hotel has beach chairs, towels, bikes to use during your stay which is all included in the amenity fee. It has access to Kaimana beach. It's small and quite. It was perfect because I can't stand crowds. There is a laundry room which is located on the 3rd floor. They do sell detergent and dryer sheets. Here's a PLUS which we never got to try. They have complimentary wine I think it was after 530pm. The staff here were pretty fucking awesome! I hate how we didn't get their names. The front desk guy was super cool. My husband had small talks with him and all we know is that he's Micronesia. The valet guy was just as cool. He always worked the mornings. Gave us suggestions everyday. He always had a ponytail, btw. We will definitely book our next stay here again.

Yelp
1. The staff here is excellent, from the front desk, valet, to housekeeping. Everyone was friendly and we got great recommendations from all the staff on places to eat, the sort of places locals go to. This alone would make me stay here again. 2. Liked that it was a little ways off from the main part of Waikiki. Was quieter which is nice. And the walk to the main part of Waikiki was only 15 minuets or less. 3. Great views of Diamond Head from our balcony. And some view of the ocean. Also enjoyed the illy coffee the rooms had.

Yelp
The Lotus Hotel is a peaceful place. I've really enjoyed my stay for the past 4 days--the room is quiet and dark at night, the beds and pillows are comfortable, I've slept very well after daily snorkeling adventures to Hanauma Bay, Sharks Beach, and the beach cove just steps away from this little gem of a hotel nestled near the park below Diamond Head. The gracious staff embodies the Aloha spirit. My friends and I appreciated the illy espresso in the morning and wine hour in the evening. The restaurant is appealing to those who want to experience fine dining. What a lovely lounge to enjoy the wine hour! The room is newly renovated Hawaiiana, I found it quite clean. Do ask for extra blankets if you like to sleep with air conditioning on (I didn't find that necessary). The products are excellent, especially the moisturizer. When we went out for the daily beach day, we took with use these great chairs supplied by the hotel in which we could pack out gear and snacks and carry it out on our backs. Love how easy this was made for us by this hotel that truly understands what Oahu offers. Fake bling you will not get at the Lotus, but the sparkle of a real deal Diamond will make you smile. #of course trump didn't win, don't be silly and childish. #Authentic Americans participate in a democracy instead of bullying their way through.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. We spent the first 3 nights of a 7-night trip for our 10-year anniversary here. We got the prime corner oceanfront room on the top floor (worth the money). The views were impeccable! PROS: *View (one balcony of Diamond Head, the other of the beach) *Staff were very friendly (they also greeted us with complimentary champagne for our anniversary) *Nightly happy hour with free wine *Inclusive resort fee including valet *Location (just far enough away from all the noise of the city, but close enough to walk there when you want it) CONS: *The room accommodations are pretty dated. The mattress had to be at least 10 years old and the sheets were old and rough. There was a clock that still fit like the original iPhone. BUT who comes to Hawaii to sit in their room anyway? *No A/C. Just a fan circulator in the room, so it stayed pretty warm. *The only beach access is a tiny little area in front of another hotel. HOWEVER we did get the pleasure of watching a seal come to shore here. All things considered, we would definitely stay here again. Very pleasant visit.

Yelp
Cute Hotel but we got duped. Booked a King Bed Oceanview... Upon arrival, we were told there were no more rooms available with King Beds... They "upgraded" us the top floor with two double beds which was worse. It was our 4 Year Wedding Anniversary and man, what a let down. Not only did the bed situation kill our vibes, but the view was nothing like the pictures... The bathroom was on the older side, shower ended up getting clogged which was gross, and they gave us a half used toilet paper roll which was so unsanitary... Most likely will not be coming back and will be going to the Kaimana for our next stay. Im giving this place a higher rating (3 instead of 2) only because Jessica at the front desk was so nice!

Yelp
This was the hotel I booked for my trip and was very happy. First the room the very nice and had everything you needed. The view was awesome looking right out to Diamond Head and out to the ocean. They had free water bottles in the room and a free machine with fresh Purified water in the lobby. Fresh apples by the elevator on your way up. Only 3 minutes from the beach and restaurants. They also have a restaurant in the hotel which I will review another time. It was at the quiet end of Honolulu so you get to really enjoy Hawaii. There is a great park right across the street to go hang out or have lunch. The people working there were amazing and would go to help you in any way. I would love to come back and would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks for a great trip Lotus.

Yelp
On the island country side for the month and decided to get married on Friday for that Monday then come here to get away. For intended purposes this place was great just wished TBD was open while we were there. #TrumpWon
