This was an amazing experience especially if you love history. It was a lot of information to take in at once, they are ran solely by tourism so please add this to your bucket list. I’m glad we decided to do this tour before leaving for back home in Canada. staff are very educated and welcoming! Must see !! I do however wish we could have taken pictures inside. Cameras are only allowed in the gift shop.

Our visit to the Lotz House in Franklin, TN was nothing short of extraordinary. We knew we would enjoy learning about the local history, but we did not expect to be so deeply moved — or to leave feeling like we had stepped through time with fresh understanding. A huge part of what made our experience so meaningful was our guide, Chuck. His knowledge, warmth, and ability to bring the human stories behind the history to life was remarkable. We were especially thrilled to discover that we could converse with him not only in English, but also in German and French — what an unexpected delight! It added a personal connection that made the tour even more engaging. What stood out most was the balanced and thoughtful narrative presented throughout the tour. In a time when so many historical sites can lean toward one interpretation or another, the Lotz House honored all sides of the conflict with sensitivity and respect. The story of the Lotz family and the harrowing events of the Battle of Franklin were shared in a way that acknowledged the complexity of the past — not glorifying, not erasing, but helping us see the humanity of those involved, then and now. We left with a deeper appreciation not only for this beautiful and historic home, but for the lessons it offers us today. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Franklin — and if you get Chuck as your guide, you are in for a true treat!

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem of a tour on our last day in the Nashville area and are so glad we did!! Evan was our tour guide and was incredibly knowledgeable and informative. He really took the time to explained the battle of Franklin and the events and people surrounding the significance of this home and area. If you have the time, I highly suggest this tour!!

I did a tour today of the Lotz House. My guide was Evan who conducted one of the most amazing tours I've been on. He was very articulate and well informed not only of the house but of the Battle of Franklin, architectural history, backgrounds and history of Mr. and Mrs. Lotz and their children. Evan really explained the significance of the battle and how it changed the lives of all who were entangled in the war. The museum has a wonderful gift shop and all of the employees I came in contact with were so kind and helpful. I highly recommend taking the tour whether you are a visitor from another area or a resident of Franklin. Fantastic job Evan!!!

This house, tour, relics, and history is amazing. If you’re looking for a true neutral historical experience, this is your tour. Amazing detail from the architecture to the story line of this family. Katelyn gave us a tour today and did an amazing job. She was so personable, knowledgeable, and passionate about telling the story of this house and family. We definitely learned a lot and saw some amazing relics. If you want the best tour in Franklin, stop here and ask personally for Katelyn.

If you are a fan of history, especially the nitty gritty right down to the centimeter type stories in history, then this is a must stop. Chuck was a fantastic guide and his wealth of knowledge on not just the battle of Franklin but also the stories of the families in town and their lives after the war. I can not recommend enough that you stop by the house to see and hear the story of the Lotz family.
