Lough Erne Resort

"Located on its own peninsula, this resort offers guests an entry point to the gorgeous Irish countryside. Aficionados can book an Irish Whiskey Tasting Experience through the hotel’s Blaney Bar. They’ve partnered with Bushmills to give guests a chance to learn about the spirit and try different varieties, including a 10-year-old single-malt whiskey."

Nice stay in Lough Erne with our young kids and older parents. ||Pros||Lovely spacious rooms|Stunning scenery|Extremely clean|Really nice staff especially the two gentleman on the doors and reception staff|Really nice breakfast||Cons|The Lougjsude Grill restaurant food is substandard for a 5 star hotel. 15£ for a sandwich which was dry and didn't even come with a few chips. Soup was watery and tasteless - also the room itself is backed onto a golf shop which gives it a clubhouse feel. Bathrooms etc and very tatty and need upgrading. ||The Blaney bar had a nice atmosphere and was definitely nicer to sit in. Again the food was only ok. Kids menu is overpriced and they sent out what looked like a microwaved pizza which was sent back. The rest of the food was grand, nothing amazing and definitely not 5 star. ||The breakfast was the best meal we had when we were there, lovely staff. Lovely room and lovely food. ||The only other con is a lack of any type of kids entertainment such as a playground or games room. I know they aren't marketed as a kids hotel but feel they're missing a trick by not having more for families. ||Overall a really good stay, lacking a bit of 5 star luxury and could be improved.

16 of us stayed and played over the weekend of 19-21st September. This is our 2nd time coming here in 5years and hopefully we will get it booked again for next year as the place is superb. We had 4 persons each sharing the chalets behind the hotel which are excellent. There was a main living area/kitchen on the ground floor along with a bedroom of to the side which slept 2 plus a bathroom and upstairs there was a bedroom with a bathroom beside it. The good thing about the layout is that you can close the door to the bedrooms and the only way to enter was with the room card that was designated to the persons staying in that room.

From the moment I arrived at Lough Erne, everything about our stay was absolutely exceptional. The staff greeted us warmly, offering genuine hospitality that made us feel instantly welcome. Check-in was smooth and professional, the food was delicious (I highly recommend the Duck Salad in particular).||||The location is stunning, nestled among the lakes of Fermanagh, with breathtaking views in every direction. The grounds are immaculate, and the peaceful surroundings add a real sense of escape and tranquility. My room was spacious, elegant, and spotlessly clean, with every comfort thought of. Waking up to views over the water was a highlight in itself.||||What stood out the most, however, was the exceptional service throughout. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience and the fine details of the accomodation made the stay just first class.||||Lough Erne Resort is a special place, perfect for a relaxing getaway, a romantic retreat, or even a celebration. I would Highly recommend without hesitation.

If you are looking for a truly 5 star treat for a special occasion or celebration or just to spoil yourself , staying at the Lough Erne Resort was an absolute dream! The setting is just breathtakingly beautiful, with stunning views of the lough and surrounding countryside and only a few miles away from Enniskillen which itself leads to an amazing town to explore. . We were so impressed by the staff – every single person we met was friendly, welcoming, and couldn't do enough for us. Our suite was incredibly comfortable and spacious, a true home away from home, with a comfortable king-size bed and a huge bathroom featuring both a shower and a bath. Although the room was a little warm, a fan was provided, which was a thoughtful touch. The free minibar was a fantastic bonus, and we loved having two TVs, so no fighting over the remote! The five-course meal at the restaurant was a highlight; each dish was a work of art and tasted incredible. We also made great use of the complimentary swimming pool. We'll definitely be back!

Stayed in Lough Erne, for two nights and really enjoyed our time there. The hotel is nice and comfortable , the room was a good size and well appointed. I must say that we enjoyed an exceptionally meal in the restaurant, and I don't say that lightly! (If only we lived nearer) Everyone of the staff were came into contact with, could not have been more helpful and friendly throughout our stay. We did stay there about 12 years ago, and has only got better, and I hope to go there again !

Played the faldo course on Saturday, stunning course with some lovely views but wouldn't advise playing after August as the bunkers are terrible and cannot cope with the waterfall as they need seen to everyday. On to the resort , the rooms are lovely and spacious but the breakfast was a big let down. We got given a time of 10:30 as this was the "quiet" time , only to be greeted with a 45 minute wait on Sunday morning ..

Group of us decided to go away for the 3 days of Ryder Cup weekend for morning golf and watch Ryder Cup live from America in the evenings with like minded people in a bustling atmosphere ||Lough Erne GOLF resort sold itself as the prime venue with 2 courses and one designed by Ryder Cup great Nick Faldo. Upon enquiry we were told we would play Castle Hume on Friday, Faldo course on Saturday & Sunday and stay in a lodge adjacent to Hotel with full access to facilities. We were advised that Castle Hume was not of a great standard but experiences on the Faldo course would be astounding ||Castle Hume clubhouse is on Lough Erne resort but 10 mins from Hotel so we went there first on arrival. There is about 6 driving bays across from clubhouse with trackman. Quiet reasonable too for balls. |Short game practice near end of range was very poorly maintained and putting green very small.|Course was as advised. Greens not great but playable track. Average to say the least.|After finishing round eager to sample refreshments we went to Castle Hume clubhouse bar. Ryder Cup was on 3 average size tvs but no sound. Atmosphere like a morgue. Barman said the Loughside Bar in Faldo clubhouse was place to be for the golf as Castle Hume closed about 8pm. Food was ok so we decided to go Hotel and check into our lodge. ||Scenery including Faldo course around Hotel is spectacular |Staff are very friendly. We got a courtside lodge. Two twin bed rooms and sizeable living area with good size TV.||We decided to go Loughside bar as advised previously to watch the biggest weekend in GOLF in a so called GOLF resort. To our horror, there was a small maybe 43inch TV on a perch. To make matters worse the screen kept flickering and sound was appalling. We were bemused that there was no big screen or atmosphere as expected. Other golfers there too were shocked.|Luckily enough we brought our own streaming devices so we decided to go back to our lodge and watch Ryder Cup. I had to drive to Enniskillen to get refreshments as we'd expected a lively bar with good atmosphere ||Saturday we got up eager to play Faldo course. We asked where the practice area was to warm up and we were advised that it was down near Castle Hume course 10 mins away. The shabby poorly maintained area from previous day. We taught the Faldo course would have a 5 star warm up area befitting the name. This should have rang alarm bells but in our eagerness we let it slide. Hired buggies at 45pounds extra and drove down. ||The Faldo course has spectacular views and lovely layout as expected. The bunkers were atrocious. Caving in on themselves. Superintendent had told us to rake and replace when in them but looked like no maintenance in a long time. The greens were forked and sanded. Wasn't a surprise for September but disappointing as we were not advised. Experience over next 2 days was tainted with the maintenance issues. Loughside bar afterwards both days for food which was only ok not 5 star standard. Chicken burger had little sauce for the price. Then back to our lodge both evenings to watch Ryder Cup.||Pros were Breakfast and Spa facility was lovely.|Cons are the golf experience was extremely poor and no foresight to improve any facility for the best weekend in GOLF.||Definitely will not return and Nick Faldo should be furious that his name is associated in this manner.

Delighted to find this gem of a hotel in a wonderful location, everything we could have wanted from a hotel was there, the room was amazing the food was delicious but most of all the staff were just fantastic, so welcoming and kind and checked on us throughout our stay to make sure everything was up to scratch. They made us a lovely packed lunch for the stairway to heaven package which was yummy. They even turned down our bed and left little chocolates on our pillows. 4 star hotel with a 5 star experience, although this was our first visit to Fermanagh it definitely won’t be our last. Well done staff you’re giving a fantastic service.

Yelp
When we were in the planning stages of a trip to Ireland, I pulled out a cookbook from one of my favorite Irish Chefs, Noel McMeel and learned he is the Executive Chef of this resort. When I found out he would be at the resort the week we were visiting Ireland, we actually changed around our entire Ireland itinerary to dedicate two days to staying at the resort and exploring this breathtaking Central and Northern part of Ireland...with the hopes of meeting the Chef and tasting some goodies prepared by the Chef who wrote one of my favorite and most used cookbooks, "Irish Pantry" http://fermanaghherald.com/2013/12/irish-pantry-noel-mcmeels-new-cookbook/ A trip to this resort was a great decision, this part of Northern Ireland is beautiful and a great change of pace from the busy bustle of Dublin streets. As pictured on the website, the hotel looks like a mix of an old and new castle, but the main building is only 11 years old. The property is built on lake lands, old castle grounds, and complete with a beautiful Nick Faldo golf course. This hotel was also host of the 2013 G8 summit. When initially arriving to the property the actual structure of the hotel was modern, somewhat disappointing compared to what I imagined but the breathtaking views of the lakes and lush greenery on the property are picturesque and stunning. The landscaping is immaculate. The rooms here are spacious and well appointed the décor in our room was a bit dated although still nice. Service was courteous and friendly. Our room had views of the lake, just stunning. Sadly, we did not have time to use the property as much as we hoped, the spa and the golf course will have to wait for next time. We did get to take a golf buggy ride around the golf course, recommended by the Chef and given by Frank the concierge. The buggy (golf cart) ride was a highlight to see the complete golf course, lakeside and foliage which is breatakingly beautiful. A visit to the fine dining Catalina restaurant was not to be missed and was a rewarding meal which we will not soon forget, definitely one of our favorite meals while in Ireland. Breakfast: The all important Irish breakfast was complete here, obviously more upscale, hot and cold buffet and order off of the menu all included in the breakfast package, coffee was outstanding, the spread was quiet nice with meats, cheeses, smoked fish, oatmeal...my favorites were the scrambled eggs, porridge, large cooked mushrooms and breads and jams. Notes: Check with the concierge regarding when the boats rides times and dates because they are only biweekly, we missed them as I assumed they were daily. Get proper directions before heading to the property, GPS kept leading us down private roads, and it did not help that we were driving at night. While in the area, there is lots to see and do. We love nature, so upon the recommendation of the Chef, we visited the Belleek pottery factory tour which was very interesting and worth a stop (the vouchers provided by the front desk got us in for free and also included a snack and drink in the cafe), Carrickreagh forest walk 2km up the road...we were the only people on the trail, so serene, and Tullen Strand Bundoran, with breathtaking views of land and sea, a popular surfing spot. I was so happy to take walks in nature and enjoy the pure beauty of this area without a bunch of tourists crowding around. By far these small day trip stops in nature were among my favorites during our entire visit to Ireland. Thank you Lough Erne, and Chef McMeel for a lovely visit, we hope to return.

Yelp
Beautiful setting. Stern and severe exterior of the main building is grim. Inside elegant if somewhat anonymous. We went to the bar for dinner as the Catalina was fully booked. We were staying in the Court apartments on the property (less than wonderful). Started the evening on their terrace and the lake view was serene. Staff sporadically attentive, but friendly. Moved in for dinner to the bar, filled with seriously drunk guests at a wedding. Food: Fantastic fish chowder, gourmet standard. Guinness bread amazing. Strong start. Second course: Hamburger was really a meatloaf, came after a 45 minute wait more than well done, Tasty but dry. I had to walk up to the wait-staff to ask nicely where were our dinners. Not what one would expect in a luxury hotel. PRICES WERE REASONABLE.

Yelp
We checked into a lovely 2 bedroom lodge at the resort in the Spring. Check in was prompt and professional. We headed to our lodge and shortly afterward the concierge arrived to check on us and to inquire if we would like a lake view lodge. We were pleased to be offered an upgrade and gladly accepted. We moved to the 2 bedroom lake view lodge, which was very lovely. There is a bedroom/bath on the main with a sitting room and bar area. Upstairs was a second bedroom/bath. Both spaces were very generously sized. We had a spa reservation but our travels that day brought us later than expected to the resort. Unfortunately we missed our spa experience but the spa staff called us to offer us an alternative treatment, date and time. We were pleasantly surprised by this level of attentive service. We enjoyed dinner at The Catalina Restaurant, which was expertly executed by Chef Noel McMeel and his culinary team. We enjoyed one of the most astounding dinners of our lives (Chef Noel's signature pork dish, roast duck, filet, steak frites). Our sons (in their early 20's), who were visiting Ireland for the first time, gushed repeatedly about their dinner at The Catalina. The next morning, our family enjoyed a wonderfully tasty breakfast buffet with a wide array of delicious choices (eggs, breakfast meats, assorted breads, fruit, cured meats and cheeses). Overall, the Lough Erne Resort is a beautiful property located on a gorgeous lake with a championship golf course, fine dining, and cordial, attentive and welcoming service, both in lodging and dining. It's a bit of heaven on earth!

Yelp
Very nice, but not any better. Old classic furniture and furnishings. Could use some updates imho. Restaurant and service was good. Silly comment, but doors are like moving slabs of marble. Heavy and cumbersome don't be in a hurry. Long way from any shopping.

Yelp
More than Average but less than Very Good. This is a nice hotel but it's not 5 Star. It's in a beautiful setting - the lake is beautiful and the golf course looks nice. The interior of the hotel is very nice. Staff are relatively friendly - reception staff much more so than bar/waiting staff. Bar food is ok, usual bar food options. Restaurant was fully booked and the menu looked really nice. Rooms were lovely - it was the smaller details though, towels not changed, nothing in the mini bar, etc that just meant it didn't quite reach 5Star level. 5 Star prices though.

Yelp
I was fortunate enough to spend an afternoon at the Lough Erne Golf Resort late last year. Even with the rain, the beauty of this resort was obvious the moment I set eyes on it and its surroundings. I can only imagine what it must look like in the summer or early autumn. I had lunch at the Blaney Bar, where I tried their order of fish and chips. Now, I can't say i know much about fish and chips, but what I ordered was better than any I had experienced in my entire trip to the UK and Ireland. And the view from the dining room was really quite spectacular, as was the selection of Irish whiskey at the bar. If you're a fan of golf or you're looking for a romantic getaway, and you happen to be in Fermanagh, definitely check out Lough Erne.

Yelp
Have stayed here a couple of times. Lovely hotel, beautiful setting. Rooms are lovely, courtyard or lake views available. Allhave free standing bath and super large beds. Well decorated and clean. It has only been open 1 year. Bar has stoped doing lunch menu and now just offers same menu all day. Havent eaten in the restaurant but bar food is lovely. Staff are friendly and polite. Spa area is great, pool enjoyable and treatments in the spa are no more expensive than other hotels and very relaxing. Will be back again soon.

Yelp
Spent an amazing week at Lough Erne Resort. The food, accommodations and staff were truly reflective of what a 5 star resort should be. My wife enjoyed her experiences at the Thai Spa and the Faldo course is one of the best I've played. Also one of the tougher courses I've played but it's a fair test and adds to the beauty of the resort and surroundings in general. Highly recommend from both a golf and resort standpoint - well worth the travel!
