Loughcrew Estate, Coffee Shop and Gardens

I didn't do the walk as I think it's too expensive, especially when you pay money in the cafe and then have to pay full price, could do some discount Not overly busy (a few did come in for the mass in an hour or so ) but a bit messy. Things like no milk sugar etc on the tablets adding to the workload of busy staff. Lovely smell of I think bacon cooking and the menu looked good Tasty coffee and the girlfriend enjoyed her hot chocolate with a tasty coconut (I think) cookie for average prices Not too fair from loughcrew cairns in a car, so if visiting the cairns then worthwhile visiting (just watch the roads)

I recently visited a beautiful and peaceful place that is perfect for leisurely family walks. The surroundings are picturesque, with well-maintained paths, plenty of greenery, and charming spots to sit and relax. Everything is clean, well-kept, and thoughtfully designed. It’s a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle, offering a serene atmosphere for spending quality time with loved ones. I truly enjoyed every moment there.

The kids were all excited and as we had booked santa you would assume a gift comes along with the visit, the kids got a lolly and a 20 cent toy, I couldn't believe it and the kids were so disappointed as they expected a gift. The staff in the cafe were amazing and very obliging expecially Roisin who couldn't do enough for us. Santa was very good and in a group of 8 kids he remembered every one of their names. There was no elves along the walk, your just left to walk around in the dark garden looking at christmas light, a trip to a housing estate full of decorations would do the trick and be cheaper. We honestly expected to at least see elves interacting with the kids along the walk. 22 euro per child with no gift and meeting santa in a shed and 18 euro per adult was very disappointing. I'm giving 1 star for Santa's memory and 1 star for Roisin in the cafe. Wouldn't waste my money here again. The things they could do with the right person running the show. rose at the check in desk was also very kind and friendly. Hope they up their game soon because many kids are gonna be very upset.

Beautiful gardens. Nice for s short walk. The forest walk is there for a bit of a longer walk. Fairy trail appeals to younger kids and it is fun to walk around readying the fair trail. The coffee shop is nice and the sandwiches and coffees were lovely. There are also a range of deserts to try.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting a Celtic Wellness Retreat at Loughcrew Estate end of September 2025. It was a truly magical experience in a truly magical setting! Owners Emily and Dermot were not just incredibly warm and welcoming but became very much part of our special weekend together, bringing their own lived experience as well as the history and heritage of this unique venue to life in so many ways! As the retreat hosts, we were also delighted and so impressed - from start to finish - by the incredibly friendly, super-efficient event management team. Special thanks to Diana whose communication and support throughout was second to none, and Margy who was seamless in each and every interaction we had. Ceangal is based in France and so organising our first event in Ireland was full of potential challenges but the Loughcrew team ensured the smoothest of preparations, striking the perfect balance between being available throughout and giving us the space to fully enjoy the experience. The accommodation, the yoga/mindfulness rooms, the outdoor spaces, the gardens and of course the cairns just up the road combined to provide the perfect backdrop for our Celtic Wellness Retreat. We highly recommend this venue for retreats.

Family Day Out The Fairy Trail is an exciting interactive sensory trail which gets children exploring Loughcrew Gardens and it is now open all year round! To complete the treasure hunt-style trail, they will get an activity booklet and map and will have to solve clues and answer questions in order to get to the next part of it. Fairy houses, giant ants and a fairy forest await! There is plenty of room for children to play on the garden’s lawns at Loughcrew. Children are welcome to bring their bikes and if they get a little peckish, the coffee shop will satisfy all appetites. There is a little play area next to the coffee shop too.

Loughcrew offers a wide range of different walks on offer which will take you over a range of different vistas including woodland, lakes and ponds, rolling hills and curated landscape gardens. Choose from multiple trails or explore landscape gardens for varied vistas and preferred terrain. Gardens are great for buggies, families, and flat terrain lovers, while adventure and lakeside trails offer more challenge. Lovely place. Found it on Google maps by chance. Spent a couple of hours in the afternoon with the family looking around. Although it is a lovely place, when you add the entrance fees and the costs of drinks and a sandwich in the cafe, it soon mounted up. I would return again, especially as you can bring your dog. I'd probably bring a picnic next time though to keep costs down.
