A Wine Lover's Tour of Burgundy, France - AFAR

"A large, well-known Burgundy wine house with extensive vineyard holdings (about 528 acres) producing a wide range of appellations from Chablis to Beaujolais; among its offerings, the 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay stood out for subtle golden honey and mineral notes that linger without the overpowering oak often found in the varietal." - Kristin Braswell

Phoned the day before and arranged tour of cellars and wine tasting. Recommend phoning to arrange in advance. 30 euro per person. Mary showed us the through the wine making process as harvest had only taken place 2 weeks prior, so work of wine making was in full action, then through the barrel storage cellars and then a wine tasting of 3 whites and 4 reds to finish. Mary was knowledgeable on the wineries history, about Burgundy and all the varying area’s in which grapes were harvested by “Louis Jardot” to make white and red Burgundy.

We had a great experience! We were warmly welcomed! Thank you so much! Burgundy wines are incredible, and the wines we tasted here were especially a dream. Each one had different aspects and complexities!

This was a lovely winery to visit. We went on a quiet day and it was just us and the tour guide. It was fantastic to hear all about the process and the attention that is put into every bottle. Downstairs there were so many barrels of wine it would make your head spin and afterwards we did a wine tasting and got to try a few different delicious and rarer samples.

Many thanks to Marie for her informative wine tasting session today. Learned a lot about the range of excellent wines produced by Louis Jadot. Definitely worth visiting their Domaine in Beaune. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

During our visit we were able to try some of the best wines France has to offer. On top of a sublime tasting experience, we learned about the Burgundy region and its wine making industry. Pierrick was an amazing host! Absolutely recommended visit.

The wines are excellent, but the tour and tasting were extremely disorganized and poorly managed. The woman in thick-framed glasses may be a great winemaker, but she completely lacks communication skills. My friends and I were left with an unpleasant impression. I do not recommend attending tastings at the Louis Jadot winery.

Yelp
We enjoyed the tour of the winery. Just wish that the tasting room was a bit more comfortable and welcoming. It would have been nice to have seating to be able to sit while we sipped our wine.

Yelp
Louis Jadot is one of those crazy wine power houses . They make more wine than any handful of vinters combined, yet they don't let their broad catalog dilute their quality. Im particularly interested in their Meursault, as this is a wine that has caught my attention lately. A 2004 will run you around $40-$50 dollars, so it's actually in the lower end of the spectrum. Still a solid wine do drink on its own or with food
