We stopped here for Sunday breakfast. Three of us. We've been here before, so we knew what to expect. It's a very popular place and always busy. Small, jam packed.
We waited for a table about 20 minutes and were seated at a very, very old booth. Very beat up and not exactly clean. Ok.
We had decent service, orders taken quickly, coffee and sodas refilled promptly, food arrived hot and on time. Check delivered and picked up as expected. No complaints there.
I ordered bacon, scrambled eggs, home fries and a homemade biscuit. My eggs were fine, bacon tasted as if it had been cooked yesterday, and home fries were not good. It appeared that some of the fries were possibly French fries from yesterday added to the mix. The other potatoes were limp and undercooked, with very little seasoning. I didn't talk about it with my dining partners, but I only ate a few bites of those. (Sometimes it isn't worth the calories!) I noticed my daughter left the home fries on her plate as well. Hubs, who eats everything, took one bite of the home fries and didn't come back for more. (That's not a good sign.)
Hubs ordered an omelet and said it was meh. It looked very thin, like the eggs were as thin as a crepe. I don't prefer omelets to be thick and fluffy, but this was too much the other way. He left some of his omelet, and being a member of the clean plate club, this is commentary on food quality.
Daughter had a Denver omelet, and she left half of it and almost all of the home fries. I've seen her scarf down food in the blink of an eye. Leaving food means it wasn't very tasty.
Would I return to Louisa's? Maybe. I'll put it at the bottom of my list for now. It's been in SLO for a long time, but they need to think about the food quality and the feel of the place. Old is one thing. Not clean or comfortable is another thing.
