Louisbourg Harbour Inn Bed and Breakfast

My husband and I spent one night at this cozy and charming inn at the end of September and stayed in the Rose Castle room on the 2nd floor, on the back side of the inn (easily accessible via the rear stairs). The room was nicely furnished, clean and comfortable with a nice ensuite bathroom. The room description indicated it has a private harbourside balcony to enjoy the harbour views, but unfortunately, we were not able to use it as it had been torpedoed quite badly by the local birds (and looked like it had not been cleaned in a while). But we thoroughly enjoyed the inside of the inn, which has a very cozy living room area and separate dining room. Breakfast the next morning was scrumptious; a banana and blueberry topped crepe, a scone, some bacon and an orange slice. Yummy! This inn is also walking distance to some places to eat, one of them being the Spoondrift Café (literally a block away). We enjoyed a wonderful dinner there, so we recommend it as well. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the inn and would visit again if we pass that way.|Irene & Eric (Montreal)

My wife and I stayed at Louisbourg Harbour Inn for three nights in early October on the ninth and penultimate leg of our Canada Maritimes road trip. We arrived just after check in time of 2 pm and we picked up the keys which awaited us before heading up to our room. We saw the host in passing as he was driving out. We would have preferred to have been greeted by the host and shown round the accommodation which we find more hospitable. It provides guests with a chance to ask questions and to pick up some tips about local attractions, places to eat and other questions they may wish to be answered. Having access by phone or email is no substitute for the personal touch as far as we are concerned. Once we had a look around, we hauled our luggage (except for the big cases) up the external staircase and a further staircase inside to begin settling in for our stay.||Our room was called ‘Chameau’. It was one of two rooms on the third floor and it had views to three sides with two windows overlooking the working harbour below. It would be an understatement to describe it as spacious - the room was huge. The centrepiece of the suite was the two person soaker bath in the middle. As well as the queen sized bed there were two comfortable arm chairs looking out of one window and a pair of rocking chairs to enjoy the view out of the other. There was a chest of drawers and a wardrobe to store clothes, as well as a desk and a stool. The room had a Keurig coffee pod maker and we borrowed a kettle to make tea. We found the bed to be very comfortable and we slept warmly. There was no air conditioning but fans and a small portable radiator were available if needed. The bathroom had a very compact shower cabinet which was rather restrictive. There was plenty of room in the bathroom with two sinks and a bidet. The towels were soft and fluffy. There were no robes provided.||For the most part we found the accommodation to be particularly quiet - we could hear nothing from other guest rooms (except for when toilets were flushed or guests had showers) or from any traffic movement outside. It was helpful to have shared access to a tiny fridge on the landing between the two rooms. Milk and cream were provided.||The breakfasts provided were freshly prepared although there was no choice. The food quality was exceptional. For example on our first breakfast we were given rosemary flavoured Belgian waffles with a single Eggs Benedict and a piece of Freshly baked blueberry scone. It would have been good to have been offered cereals and fruit juice, toast and preserves for those who didn’t want the cooked option. Not sure what would happen if guests didn’t like what was provided …||This bed and breakfast accommodation has been ideally located to access the National Historic Sites of the lighthouse and the fortress, both less than a 10 minute drive away. In Louisbourg there is a small local grocery store and a small selection of restaurants - by far the best was the ‘Spoondrift cafe’ which was less than a 5 minute walk. Reservations were needed, especially as the restaurant is soon to close for the season and locals want one last visit.||My wife and I enjoyed our stay in the area although we feel that we would have been struggling to do something worthwhile had we stayed for longer. It seemed most of the guests stay for just one night.

We had a wonderful two night stay at the Harbour Inn. It is impeccably clean and the breakfasts both mornings were delicious. Arrival was easy with our name, room name and key in the foyer. The owners were available if any assistance was needed. The Inn itself has a lot of history and Karen was very knowledgeable and happy to share some of the stories of the Inn. Our room was very comfortable, clean and we even had a lovely private deck with two adirondack chairs to enjoy. The views of the fortress and harbour are lovely.

Our experience at the Louisbourg Harbour Inn was excellent. It was the perfect place to stay as we were visiting the Fortress of Louisbourg and the Inn was located less than 10 minutes away from the historical site. The Inn was also peaceful and beautiful with a wonderfully comfortable bed, a tub with jacuzzi jets and our room had a view of the harbor. The owners and staff were all helpful, friendly and lovely. Finally, breakfast was delicious! I highly recommend the Louisbourg Harbour Inn for your next trip to the Louisbourg, Nova Scotia area.

😊: The breakfasts were presented beautifully and were delicious. Of all the places we stayed on this trip, the breakfasts here were the best. 😢: We didn’t realize we had booked a room on the third floor. It would have been better if we could have stayed on the second floor. Stairs are difficult for me.

We stayed in the Chameau room which was unbelievable. It was huge and very unique in its design. There was a view of the ocean and in the distance you could see the Fortress of Louisbourgh. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The hosts Karen and Parker were great as we had an issue with the hot tub and a light which was fixed immediately. Again, Karen was very helpful with any questions you had about the area.

Stayed at Louisbourg Harbour Inn 2 days last week. It was wonderful all around. The house is on the waterfront which is busy with boats during lobster season. Pleasant breakfast atmosphere and deliciously-prepared breakfasts which I hear the Louisbourg Harbour Inn is known for.|Friendly staff. The rooms are cheery and bright Best sleep we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend!

The room had a beautiful view of the ocean and was so clean and comfy! The breakfast each day was absolutely delicious & always came with great chats and tips for travellers from Karen! What a special place :)

Cozy and friendly with delicious breakfasts - the inn is everything I could possibly want in a B&B and I slept like a rock. We stayed here in 2011 and again in 2024 - hoping it won't be another 13 years before we make it back!

We stayed here for one night and Parker was absolutely friendly. The Inn was beautiful and our room really nice. Breakfast was delicious. No buffet but the lady served us on the table. She was running around and in such a good mood. She was fantastic. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
