Yelp
3.5 stars. Lovely "fine-dining" dinner spot for a special occasion. Service tends on the formal side with lots of help to tables and in the dining room. Someone was always nearby for a request or assistance. Immediate bread service, plate-clearing, and beverage refills were timely. This is where to go if you need to impress a date or out-of-town business client or that fussy mother-in-law who thinks you don't appreciate her enough. While tablecloth, carpet, and dinner club decor, nice tableware, and wine service. The whole meal will find you taken care-of well.
Grilled Oysters are served in porcelain dishes (not on the half-shell). Tried the bbq shrimp, as well. Entrees: grilled drum and fish en papillote. Both preparation styles were delicious. And very "Louisiana" French. (I mean: Well-prepared to traditional French culinary standards.)
Food was well-prepared/plated with care, and to the table in good time and at temperature. This was a solid meal. Service - on its own - 5 stars! While there is very little wrong with the meal, Lagniappe suffers by comparison to other seafood and restaurant options, both price and quality. I would much prefer the oysters served in the shell and in a casual environment.
But I'm also not fussy about table cloths versus paper placemats. Doesn't matter if it's a diner or a fine dinner club, I want delicious food, competent service, and value.
The prices for two starters, two entrees, and two non-alcoholic beverages and gratuity was $164, and about 20% higher than the seafood place I visited the evening before with one fewer appetizer, and the oysters and shrimp - while okay - weren't nearly as good. Great service and entrees. Go to feel obliged or pampered and order the entree that sounds most amazing.
But get the oysters and shrimp at a different spot.
