Underwhelmed… first word that comes to mind. First experience (couple years ago) was good. Tonight was lackluster and so so. I went early and dined in the bar area. The service was not great, they were brining in furniture rearranging chairs and the bartender was in the back a lot. My Sensation salad, included with the meal, was lack luster… fresh, but one cherry tomato, one olive, one peperoncino 🤔 I ordered the “Louisianne”- Black Drum fish / lump crab sautéed in lemon butter. The fish itself, a little crispy was good, but the crab was shredded and DRY. I asked for extra lemon butter and was told that it was real butter on the crab. I understand what lemon butter is, but the dish needed more… It definitely needed something. “Long run for a short slide!” … especially for the price.

Hostesses were uppity acting and very unpleasant with me. I stopped in to pick up gumbo and catfish. However, only catfish was thinly fried catfish, and I don't like it that way. Decided on seafood dressing stuffed bell peppers and gumbo. I've had better gumbo in "New York City". The roux was so dark and thick it was like eating a stew, and there was grit in it from the flour, I assume. The bell peppers barely had any taste to them and were under stuffed for the 34 dollar price tag that was attached to them. They did come with a side salad, bread, and one half of a twice baked baked potato, though. This place is always packed, but I have no idea why.

Wonderful experience and delicious food. They have fantastic weekly specials, the service was excellent and the ambiance is quiet.

Where to begin... Excellent service, fine dining, seared tuna steak, drum, soft shell crab, if given enough time and visits one could go down the menu line by line and there's no reason not to. You really can't go wrong. Oh and half price bottle of wine on Mondays? Sounds like a good old fashion, happy hour to me.

Great seafood selection with a Louisiana taste. The atmosphere is terrific along with the service. Expect a jam pack crowd everytime your there.

Google
Louisiana Lagniappe has never disappointed. The marinated crab claws that we had as an appetizer were very good. The broccoli and cheddar with crab soup was another one of the tasty soups that Lagniappe’s offers from time to time. Of course, if you have not had their seafood stuffed peppers then you are missing out. There is no skimping on the seafood. Every fish dish is mouth watering. The service is on point and the ambiance is just right. I always look forward to dinner here. This restaurant is a must try if you haven’t already done so.

We had a party of 8 and reservations. Not one glitch in our dinner service! All the food was delicious and served hot. I can't wait to go again. All ages in our party from 3 year old to 70 year old....palettes were pleased. I'm sorry I didn't remember our waitress name... she did AMAZING.

Louisiana Lagniappe Restaurant, located at 9990 Perkins Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70810, is a wonderful establishment. I don't frequent seafood restaurants often, but when I do, I strive to make it a special occasion. My recent experience was exceptional from beginning to end. I plan to return soon! 1. Marinated Crab Fingers: Fresh blue crab claws marinated in a blend of fresh herbs and olive oil. $21 2. Fresh Fish en Papillote: Fresh fish topped with lump crabmeat and shrimp stuffing, baked in parchment paper and finished with a light garlic beurre blanc. $40 3. Almondine: Pan-sautéed fish topped with toasted almonds and a light lemon butter sauce. $30 4. Yelp
The Louisiana Lagniappe restaurant was great! A party of 7 of us got to the restaurant and sat down and ordered drinks.! Ordered 2 makers mark manhattans on the rocks with extra cherry juice and they were delicious and I brought a bottle of Quilt Cabernet from Napa and I bought a bottle from their list of the Decoy Sauvignon Blanc for $27 was a good buy for the price it was all about having a enough for everybody to drink at the table. They give you a salad with sensation dressing on it and it was delicious. I got the Ponchatran dinner entree and it was great it had 2 Soft Shell Crabs and it's Filet of fresh fish sautéed, and topped with a fried soft shell crab, Hollandaise and honey roasted pecans and almonds. $42 then Mike had the Á La Roland which is a Fresh filet of fish, sautéed and topped with the original Lagniappe shrimp and mushroom sauce over rice. $32 and Erin had the Pecan Pan sautéed fish topped with toasted pecans and Meuniere sauce. $30. And Lindsay had one of the specials which was a red fish topped with crabmeat and it was also excellent. So everyone loved their entrees and then we split 2 desserts. One because it was Miss Marilyn's or Honey's Birthday the crew brought over a piece of cake and a blueberry bread pudding and both were delicious!! And our waiter was awesome!! The room was cold when I got there but it got warmer or maybe I heated up during the meal! And it was a great night!

Yelp
Louisiana Lagniappe would've been a 6/10 but that salad and twice baked potato saved it. I give it a 8/10. The dressing on the salad it's sooooo yummy I would go back just for it and the twice baked potato. The Chicken Acadiana just wasn't anything special. It was good but nothing really to write home about. I want to go back and try more of the food tho. I'm thinking the Chicken Acadiana maybe wasn't the right thing to get. The staff were exceptionally nice and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I got to go but I really want to go dine in for the experience.

Yelp
Just staying overnight and tried this spot. Staff is exceptionally nice and attentive - your water glass will never go empty. The restaurant was very crowded and loud while we were there making it difficult to converse. We had cocktails - a rum old fashion and cucumber elderflower martini which were very good. The small salads that come with meals are very tasty. We both got the black drum topped with crab meat. The entrees were well done and delicious but expensive for what you get.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday and was absolutely amazed by this place. I had never been here before but I had always wanted to come. This place is absolutely delicious. The crab claws are to die for.. actually. In my opinion this is easily one of the top 3 restaurants in Baton Rouge and I have tried around 90% of them. Our waitress was the sweetest girl ever and she was so knowledgeable about every single thing on the menu. I wish I got her name because she knew the ins and outs of this menu without even looking at a piece of paper. It is smaller than I thought it would be and it's always packed in there. So just be aware that parking is a little rough. Other than that, some of the best food I've had in BR.

Yelp
This is our fourth time back to Louisiana Lagniappe. The place is always packed for a reason. Service is invariably friendly and accommodating. The cocktails and wine list are excellent. But, the food is the real star here. As pescatarians, we really appreciate how they never skimp on quality ingredients. The soups were delicious, full of crabmeat and flavor. The entrees were also flavorful, and prepared perfectly. We even shared an excellent King Cake bread pudding for dessert. Once again, we were beyond pleased. It's not inexpensive, but worth every penny.

Yelp
My 4th visit to this restaurant--which was already 5 stars in my mind--and it hit on all cylinders tonight. Eggplant appetizer was excellent. The fish in paper is top notch--there's a reason why it's their most popular dish. The Ponchatrain was great too (black drum with a fried soft shell crab--see picture). Some very reasonable wine choices (and 1/2 price on Mondays). $15 corkage (or no corkage if they don't have that wine). Not an elegant setting by a long shot, but great food all around. If I had to criticize something, it would be the bread--it'd be nice if the bread were fresh and warm. .

Yelp
3.5 stars. Lovely "fine-dining" dinner spot for a special occasion. Service tends on the formal side with lots of help to tables and in the dining room. Someone was always nearby for a request or assistance. Immediate bread service, plate-clearing, and beverage refills were timely. This is where to go if you need to impress a date or out-of-town business client or that fussy mother-in-law who thinks you don't appreciate her enough. While tablecloth, carpet, and dinner club decor, nice tableware, and wine service. The whole meal will find you taken care-of well. Grilled Oysters are served in porcelain dishes (not on the half-shell). Tried the bbq shrimp, as well. Entrees: grilled drum and fish en papillote. Both preparation styles were delicious. And very "Louisiana" French. (I mean: Well-prepared to traditional French culinary standards.) Food was well-prepared/plated with care, and to the table in good time and at temperature. This was a solid meal. Service - on its own - 5 stars! While there is very little wrong with the meal, Lagniappe suffers by comparison to other seafood and restaurant options, both price and quality. I would much prefer the oysters served in the shell and in a casual environment. But I'm also not fussy about table cloths versus paper placemats. Doesn't matter if it's a diner or a fine dinner club, I want delicious food, competent service, and value. The prices for two starters, two entrees, and two non-alcoholic beverages and gratuity was $164, and about 20% higher than the seafood place I visited the evening before with one fewer appetizer, and the oysters and shrimp - while okay - weren't nearly as good. Great service and entrees. Go to feel obliged or pampered and order the entree that sounds most amazing. But get the oysters and shrimp at a different spot.

Yelp
Traveling & stopped to a winner. Set at at the bar & watch the show. Huge variety of drinks.

Yelp
Oh man, this is place is dangerous. Best seafood I've ever had, not just in Louisiana, but in my entire life. Freshness is one thing but that flavor cannot be beat. We went with our server's recommendations of the various daily specials and each entree knocked it out of the park. I genuinely cannot understand how something can be this good. A real gem in Baton Rouge. We contemplated coming back a second time during our very short trip because we feared nothing would live up to it- obviously untrue, such amazing food all around in the South - but an absolute must for anyone visiting the area.

Yelp
Ambience is average. I sat at the bar and the service was good. I arrived at 4:50 and the bar seats were full by 5:10! I left at 5:30 and the parking lot was already full! I had the Chipotle Fish (black drum) and it was excellent and not too rich! The twice baked potato was also very good and I don't usually eat potatoes! The Blue Pudding was also very good. My only turn off was the cafeteria salt and pepper! High end restaurants should have cracked sea salt and cracked peppercorn shakers!

Yelp
Incredibly rich, decadent, delicious fattening. Great service. Really recommend this place!

Yelp
First time visiting Louisiana lap restaurant was for a date night with my husband. We got the crabcake appetizer, which was great! I got a blueberry lemon, drop martini with it. There was a large wait, but the food was well worth it we will be returning! Service was also great.

Yelp
Such a warm and laid back vibe. We made reservations for a Friday night because they are always busy. Extra parking is over to the back right if you need it. Very nice hostess and our server Ben was the best. We started with oysters lagniappe and wow. I will get these every time. So much flavor! I had to get the fish en papillote because it seemed to be their signature dish. It was fantastic and I've had this other places and this was by far my favorite. The stuffed potato was just that, but perfectly done and both came out piping hot. Oh and you do get a house sensation salad with your meal. It was simple but also well dressed. The bread is nothing spectacular so don't expect a lot from that. The sazerac was definitely a generous one! My husband really enjoyed his fish louisana and what I loved is that you got a great portion of crab meat on top. Just great food and service and we will most definitely frequent this place.

Yelp
Another night with co workers after being in class all day for training. We had a good night with laughter. Food was good as well.

Yelp
The service here is amazing!!! This was my second time here and it was just as good! The Chicken Acadiana was phenomenal. James was our waiter and he was fantastic. Will definitely be back again!!!! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I ordered the 7oz tuna steak. The sauce was delicious and the seared tuna just melted in my mouth. Hands down the best tuna steak , the sauce is what made it though.

Yelp
We went on a busy night, but luckily were able to sit at the bar. The bartenders were really attentive. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures. The eggplant appetizer was delicious. I'd never had eggplant before but the fry on this and the toppings were a great balance. The fresh fish en papillote was super flavorful and worth the price. Plus you get a twice baked potato which was yummy.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing! Food was so good. I did a takeout order of the fish of the day with a very fresh house salad. Twice baked cheese potato.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great experience, our waitress Kaylee W was outstanding! Our appetizers were ok, boudin balls and marinated crab fingers. I really enjoyed the bell pepper with crabmeat. It was the best!
google avatar

Yelp
A little pricey for a seafood restaurant in Baton Rouge but well worth it. I was by myself so I just sat at the bar and took the barkeepers suggestions. So glad I did! The softshell crab was absolutely perfect and I'm not exactly sure what the sauce was but, it was truly outstanding. Can't wait to take my girlfriend here.
google avatar

Amber J.

Yelp
Louisiana Lagniappe has some of the best crab cakes in the city! The crabcakes are listed as an appetizer, but our waitress how any appetizer can be turned into an entrée. The portion size was generous and perfect that i couldn't finish it in one setting. The appetizer crab cakes comes with two but the entree comes with four crab cakes, twice baked potato, and a salad. I enjoyed every aspect of my meal. Our waitress was friendly and she did a great job with her service. This restaurant is good for a family seafood night. The menu offers a variety of options a. Depending on the time of day, the noise level can be elevated but tolerable. Overall I will definitely visit Louisiana Lagniappe again for mor crab cakes

Yelp
Hands down - the best in Baton Rouge. I have never had a bad meal here. Phenomenal stuffed peppers! Service is great!

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Fish in a bag I believe it's called was amazing!! So glad we tried this place. Will certainly be back!

Yelp
Amazing dinner, Tuna cooked rare and medallions were deliciously topped with crab and shrimp. I'm leaving a 4 star bc our waiter seemed to have an opinion with a side of attitude. Teach your staff to show respect to everyone.

Yelp
Quaint atmosphere, EXCELLENT service, extraordinarily TASTE!! This is a regular on our list. Our favorite appetizer is the marinated crab claws! The gumbo is also a favorite! That fish is fresh and DELICIOUS! You truly can't go wrong here!!!

Yelp
I have heard so many good things about this place but I really wasn't all that impressed. I had the crabmeat Augratin but it has a thick roux filler:( It wasn't my best crabmeat Augratin in Baton Rouge. Service was ok but not stellar.

Yelp
Amazing food! Will go anytime we have this restaurant as a choice. Service was also great!

Yelp
I had a great time at this place. The place feels like a locals restaurant that knows its audience. It is decorated very simply and honest was very unassuming. I was very surprised to find that the service was stellar and extremely professional. The food was much more elevated than expected. We got crab wontons, boudin balls, and eggplant to share as appetizers. The wontons could have been a little more filled in my opinion and the boudin balls were not stellar, but the eggplant stole the show for appetizers. For main course I got the chipotle dish which was served with black drum topped with shrimp. It was FANTASTIC!

Yelp
Always amazing food and our favorite place to celebrate. Perfect for Christmas Eve, Valentine's Day, Birthday or Graduation. We love to sit in the bar area or at the bar.
google avatar

Darlene B.

Yelp
The service was impeccable. The atmosphere is Perfect for a date night or casual dining. Low lighting and white table cloths without being stuffy. The house salad is dressed with oil and vinegar with the pepperocini adding a kick. The etoufee was spicier than I have had but it was perfect! Full of crawfish. More than I have ever been served. Rice was flavored well even without the gravy. The veggies were almost sweet because of their freshness and being blanched crisp tender. Definitely a place to remember for great dining any time. Not for just special occasions.

Mellanie K.

Yelp
Food and service here was awesome!! I will definitely refer people here and will return.

Yelp
I wanted to lick the plate clean, but did not want to embarrass myself and the crew. The crab cakes and the oysters were so good. I used the bread to sop up the remaining sauce from the oysters. I ordered the red fish and it was delicious . This place is on my "I'll be back" list.

Yelp
Jackie (A-MAZ-ZING) called us back in after they didn't have any reservations. This meant so much to me! High chair for my granddaughter which was so nice. Chelsea was our server and she was a absolute 10! They serve you bread and water while you decide what you want to have for your appetizers and meal. They follow the CDC guidelines for hand sanitizer and mask . This was my 1st time here and We will be back! The ambiance is great and the restaurant is clean. The drinks are so bomb.

Dan M.

Yelp
Food and service at this restaurant is very good you can't go wrong eating here. I have been eating there for years and always come back. I bring my friends who I want to impress and it always does impress them with the food and service

Yelp
My absolute fav restaurant. The food and service is second to none. I was ecstatic when my company booked this restaurant for our holiday party last year and it's where I celebrate my bday each year. The tournedos are my fav!

Louis C.

Yelp
We were a party of 5. Great service and ambiance. The Pecan Fish was 5 star. I opted for traditional fried oysters - great - lightly fried, well seasoned. Staff were very attentive. We had several appetizers - the marinated crab claws were best. Good value - recommend it highly.
google avatar

Yelp
I am not a seafood eater, but this is my husband's and mother's favorite restaurant, so we come fairly often. There aren't a ton of non-seafood options, but they are still delicious. I especially love the grits and grillades! It is not we'll know because it is only started in the entire section and not with the starters, but it can be served as an appetizer portion which I would recommend to people who come for the seafood. It is so good! Service is always excellent, and it's a great dining experience always.

Merri Y.

Yelp
The fish in papiote is to die for. I get it everytime I go. The staff are so nice and attentive there. Can't ever go wrong here.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
I was in town for business and wanted my Cajun/creole fix. This more than hit the spot. The gumbo was great, I judge by the rue mostly, and the New Orleans bbq shrimp were spot on. The atmosphere was great as was the service. I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Good food, good service. Good ambience and good location that is relatively close to the interstate

Yelp
Great meal! Had crawfish bisque with stuffed heads. It was yummy. So was my fish cooked in paper bag. Very good. Attentive wait staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous food and excellent service. I can't say enough how good all our meals were. Everyone loved every dish they had. This is the second time I've come with a group of eight and it did not disappoint.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
AMAZING!! First time that I had been to the restaurant. I had crab and corn bisque - superb- and the fried green tomatoes. I was surprised that the tomatoes has a brown roux based sauce but it was really good. The service was wonderful and the restaurant was clean and well appointed. My husband had the grits and griades. He said that they were tender but that the roux was a bit heavy. Others in our group had seared tuna and fried catfish that they really liked. Desserts were bread pudding and cheesecake, one turtle cheesecake and one caramel. Excellent. My only negatives were parking was very limited and that the dining room got very warm, but considering that it was 102° outside, I may have to visit again. You better make a reservation because it was jammed even at 5:00 pm. I think that you will find something that you like.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Got takeout out tonight and I made the mistake of purchasing the catfish plate and it was terrible For my $25 I got thin strips of overcooked fish which had no moisture left in it and it was like jerky. My meal did not include cocktail sauce or any dipping sauce so I had to use ketchup from my fridge. It came with a baked potato with cheese. I've eaten here before and didn't have a bad meal, but tonight's purchase was a real waste of money and time my wife and daughter like it here so I'll probably eventually eat here again but I probably won't be excited about it especially with the prices they charge based on tonight I would not recommend eating here to my friends and family Who

Yelp
I can't believe how long it took me to come here. I've lived in Baton Rouge for almost 15 years and my first time was in year 14! Needless to say, I won't wait that long for a second trip. Louisiana Lagniappe is one of the better restaurant experiences I've had in Baton Rouge from start to finish. The waitstaff was courteous, patient with us at first timers, and quick to provide wine and food suggestions. We were there for my birthday, so she was sure to make our experience special. We started with the marinated crab fingers and their delicious bread along with a beautiful red blend the waitress suggested. The crab fingers were flavorful without being too heavy, which was great because we all went big on our entrees. Each served with a salad and a twice baked potato, we did the Crab Au Gratin, Fish Almondine, and the Ponchartrain to name a few. The Ponchartrain was one of the most indulgent meals I've ever had. A beautiful piece of fresh black drum sautéed and topped with a fried soft shell crab (one of my favorite foods on this earth) topped with buttery pecans and a light hollandaise. So indulgent that I split it in half and was able to enjoy the rest the next day with my twice baked potato. Heaven. As if that wasn't enough, in typical birthday tradition, they came out with a bread pudding for dessert that was sweet custardy goodness! I can't say enough about my experience and I can't wait to go back!
