Cute lil restaurant! The staff were so friendly. It’s a really small restaurant! So be patient if there isn’t seating! But there was outside and indoor seating as well. The breakfast was very good! The french toast was excellent. Really good price for the meal! It was easy parking for us due to it being a weekday and early in the morning.

Google
Keeping it simple and straight to the point. Menu's are simple, easy to navigate, not an overwhelming amount of items to choose from. Service is great, very kind and respectful and the atmosphere is awesome wether you sit inside or outside. Although the place is small and the wait times can be lengthy, l'd say it worth the wait.

Google
This is hands down the BEST breakfast place in Monterey!! The place is small so you must come early. Their sausages are excellent along with everything else. My husband had a crab cake and it was delicious!! Come, come, come!!

Google
Tiny place with BIG portions! Get the hubcap pancake with strawberries. So so good and made with fresh California strawberries. The mimosas are great, the staff is fun, the location is ideal. Highly recommend. While it may be "touristy" locals love it, too, and it is worth the wait!

Google
Great little hole in the wall, service was very friendly. The food tasted like home and was filling. The atmosphere was very chill and welcoming. The hubcap is no joke and can be shared with 3-4 people. We will definitely be back.

**A Hidden Gem on the Pier - Loulou’s Griddle In the Middle** I stumbled upon this restaurant during a morning scooter ride while riding in the city and it turned out to be a great spot. This charming little spot offers everything you could want to start your day off right. The setting is absolutely perfect—right on the pier, with stunning views of the water and seeing people board their boats, and kayaks. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with a warm and welcoming vibe that makes you feel like a local, even if you're just visiting. The menu, though small, is packed with delicious options. I had the Monterey omelette with potatoes and it was fantastic—fresh, and flavorful. The portions were generous, and everything tasted homemade with a lot of love and care. The coffee was excellent too, strong and smooth, just what I needed to kickstart my day. They even refill your cup. What really stood out was the friendly service. The staff was genuinely kind and attentive, going out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. They’re also happy to share recommendations about the best things to see and do in the area, which was a nice bonus. If you’re looking for a spot to enjoy a delicious breakfast with a view, Loulou’s is a must-visit. It’s a true hidden gem, and I can’t wait to return on my next trip! Only negative was the wait time… We arrived with no reservation and were told it would be 30-45 minutes. It ended up being 65 minutes until we sat down, however, the food came out quickly after ordering. **TIP** Call ahead and place your name on the list. Also, review the menu so you know what to order when you finally get seated.

Once in a blue moon we find a unique place like this that makes us feel like old friends from the moment we were greeted and shown to our seat at the counter. We loved everything about it! The humor of the hostess immediately made us feel welcomed. We enjoyed watching the cooks while at the counter. The atmosphere, the food, everything was wonderful. Especially the pancakes!!!

I was very excited to come here. The service was okay. Our food was not good this day. My oatmeal was not good. It could have used a pinch or 2 of salt and butter while cooking to help combat the creme brûlée sugar topping. I added salt to my oatmeal and then half-and-half and still was only able to eat about 4 spoonfuls before I decided it was a no-go for me. My scrambled eggs were dry and felt like they were sitting on the plate a little too long. The bacon was cold, but it was cooked well. The orange juice tasted like a cheap concentrate sink water and was not good at all. My husband got 2 eggs over easy, which were undercooked, and the egg white was still liquid. The potatoes didn't have any seasoning on them at all. They were just plain. The bacon was also cooked well, and this day, they ran out of sausage, so we couldn't order the sausage. Lastly, my husband ordered wheat toast with his meal, and they gave him sourdough. The food looked/looks nice.It just did not taste good at all. This was my first time eating here.I wish I had a better experience because of all the hype.

Yelp
My now husband and I hosted our 18 family members here the day before our wedding. From the beginning, Loulou and the rest of the staff were extremely accommodating, professional, and attentive. The food came out promptly and it was delicious! I appreciate the team so much for accommodating our large party and for all the little details that made this experience an unforgettable one. We will definitely be back anytime we visit Monterey. Thank you!

Yelp
Food: Went with the special of the day that is a 3 egg scramble with mushrooms, spinach, cheese, chicken apple sausage, and country style potatoes. I went with corn tortillas, and avocado slices on top. It was filling and was the perfect start to the day in Monterey. Ambiance: Diner vibes in full effect. Hole in the wall type of spot with friendly and lovely staff. About a 30min wait so you can walk around and explore, while you wait. Parking: You can park on the pier or park down the street for an easy walk to the diner.

Kenzie T.

Yelp
If I could give this more than 5 stars I would! The views, service, and vibes of this place are unmatched. Their food is to die for! It's a quaint and charming diner with ocean views and cooking right in front of you. The omelette and French toast we LOVED! But this has got to be up there with the best clam chowder I've had. We will be back!

Roberto G.

Yelp
Made it over to Loulou's for breakfast and was not disappointed. It's a small spot, and first come first serve, and some times may be a bit of a wait but it's absolutely worth it. You can tell that workers are upbeat and attentive, having a great time while providing service so the atmosphere was wonderful! The food was also excellent, my wife and I opted to get the wharf wrap and the hubcap cake and split them between us. The wharf wrap was excellent, pico tasted great and the eggs and potatoes were cooked to perfection. But the hubcap cake was absolutely bomb. It's like having a short stack of pancakes, but everything gets the right amount of syrup. Absolutely loved it and would recommend to all

Anna H.

Yelp
Excellent and kind service, views right by the water, and delicious food! We would definitely come back next time we are in Monterey. We added bacon to the wrap and it was a delicious addition! Yummy pancakes; everything was great.

Briana V.

Yelp
I did a really basic breakfast but really enjoyed the potatoes. Waited for a little over 30 min but the service was extremely friendly and I had someone always checking on my table along with making sure I was satisfied with my meal. I would try them once because there are a lot of breakfast/brunch options to choose from in the area. There wasn't a huge wow factor for me.

Grant H.

Yelp
There's usually a wait on the weekends, but there's stuff to walk around that's close by to bide your time. Outside seating worked as it wasn't too cold. Service was quick, and the food was good. I have my favorite breakfast place in Monterey, but this was a good place to try. I do like how they have the fruit cooked into the pancakes rather than just on top.

Racheal A.

Yelp
The wait time wasn't too bad. The staff was super friendly and very kid-accommodating. Service was super fast even when they were super busy. I didn't expect this little gem to be on the pier. It's super small on the inside and they have a little outside area. We were seated in the inside area. I didn't take a lot of pictures just because they had a sign about chatting on the phone and didn't want to make anyone mad lol. I had just an egg and toast, my husband had a breakfast burrito with egg and potatoes, and my kids shared a pancake. Mine was super simple and good. My husband liked his but thought that the potatoes were cut too big and my kids liked the pancakes.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Wooow this place serves great breakfast. And such a cute and well placed spot! I had a craving for a chocolate chip pancake so I ordered the chocolate chip hub cap cake, with half chocolate so my husband could share the plain side. My husband ordered the Monterey Jack omelette and we shared a cup of clam chowder. Highly recommend their clam chowder! It's award winning and in our opinion one of the best we've had. It's very creamy, flavorful, and has lots of clams. As for my pancake, it was GIGANTIC. And I mean gigantic, like the size of a large pizza. I don't know how anyone finishes that thing unless they're sharing with a group of 4. It came out fresh and hot with a hefty chunk of butter on top. So thick, fluffy, and addicting. My husband's omelette was solid, and the potatoes and pico it came with were delicious and flavorful. Highly recommend this place if you catch yourself stopping in Monterey to lookout on the pier, and want to go to a small local shop that serves great food. And a big plus! Guy fieri has been here, so it's gotta be good

Heather M.

Yelp
Always a great place for breakfast!! Enough to feed an army!!! The pancakes feed 5 hungry appetites and can be plain or half chocolate chip/half berry (or several other options. The omelettes are also huge like the Popeye- filled with cheese and spinach and paired with THE BEST breakfast potatoes! We order an extra side because they are so good! Biggest hot chocolates and nicest wait staff!! Oh and do t skip@out on the clam chowder for breakfast- yum!!

Matt H.

Yelp
This is one of my top breakfast spots when traveling. I discovered this spot years ago via Food channel when visiting Monterey. First time visiting, we waited little over an hour, but with the location on the water and plenty of spots to walk around, the wait was well worth it with amazing service and food for this little spot on the Monterey pier. With limited seating, you know you're getting full attention from the staff. I come back to Monterey a few times a year for work, and make sure at least once I walk to Loulous for breakfast. I love sitting at the counter and chatting with the cooks. Always friendly and asking how the trip is going. All their food options are delicious. You can't go wrong whether it's their omelets or their pancakes. Once you get your meal, can't help but enjoy the beautiful Pacific Ocean, sealife, and boats in the marina. Beautiful views & food all at once. All homemade, fresh and leaves your belly full and happy! No matter the wait time, put your name down and be patient. You won't be disappointed and will be coming back each time you visit!

Yelp
LouLou is a small diner at Pier 2. Famous for huge pancakes that is almost the size of a hubcap. We had the chocolate chips pancake, chunky monkey French toast, and their famous clam chowder. Everything was delicious. The coffee was strong and staff was warm and welcoming. This spot fills up fast.

Kim B.

Yelp
I loved this place and my family nature restaurant experience. When they say don't come in a hurry, they mean it. But honestly, if you can take your time for breakfast, do it! This place is a little spot on the wharf. We arrived at 10:15 and had a 45 min wait (for a party of 2). We were seated inside and so glad we were. The energy inside is so nice, relaxed and just a vibe. One of cooks was playing their playlist and they had all of the hits. And it really made our experience great. We ordered guava mimosas (so yummy). I ordered strawberry hubcap pancake with bananas on top and a side of potatoes. The pancake was of course, the size of a hubcap. It was delicious and cooked all the way through. The potatoes came with pico on top and was seasoned to perfection. It was worth the wait! And honestly, with the kitchen being open, it was a well-oiled process because there wasn't a lot of noise from the kitchen either. HIGHLY Recommend!!

Courtney P.

Yelp
After walking around the wharf area and working up an appetite, my husband and I needed to find a place that would allow us to dine with our two dogs. We were traveling down the coast for the holidays and had them with us. Luckily, the servers at Lou Lou's Griddle in the Middle were more than willing to accommodate us and our two pups. We sat out on the pier and took in the beautiful morning. The service was fast and very friendly. We decided to split the squid and eggs, as well as a bowl of their infamous clam chowder. Just as an FYI, they no longer serve lunch and are solely a breakfast place but this did not disappoint. The Squid and eggs was absolutely delicious as the calamari was some of the most flavorful and tender I have ever had. Talk about a unique breakfast!

Queen B.

Yelp
A nice walk from Portola Hotel & Spa. Came first thing in the morning and seated right away. This place feels like going to your friend's house with ocean view, that throws down a delicious breakfast, plays a fun playlist you sing with and is nice to anyone that comes, even with their dogs. We witnessed them greet an employee with a birthday song, two "pay it forward" coffees, employees greeting guests with their first names and even their dogs! The vibe is special and truly the star of the experience. I left with wonderful, positive vibe to carry through my day. We ordered crowd favorite hubcap pancakes (half banana and half chocolate). TIPSpread out your napkin over your table so it doesn't touch the table, it's that huge and freaking delicious. I didn't know what to expect with this but the squiddle breakfast plate was a tasty surprise! Calamari was cooked just long enough for the right texture and easy to eat. Neither disappointed , we'll be back in future visits.

Arthur L.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the employees were even better. If you get a chance go to this little gem in Monterey I highly recommend it.

Amy H.

Yelp
This place is small but mighty! I definitely recommend a visit to Loulou's if you can! We came for breakfast on a Saturday morning 12/23/23 and were able to get front tire pier parking for about $1 and we were about to be sat right out front. The staff was super friendly and laid back - it was a great vibe all around. The menu is full of stuff and it all comes out in a reasonable time, we didn't wait long at all. They had festive holiday mugs for our coffee which made it even more fun.

Nicole I.

Yelp
Me and my fiancé decided to visit Monterey for the Fourth of July for an overnight trip and it was one of the best holiday decisions we made! We wanted to try this place because of the reviews but to put the cherry on top, it was also featured on diner drive in and dives! And man of man was Guy right about this place! We loved everything about it! The food was delicious. Especially the house made sausage. I even tried to buy some not cooked from them lol. We didn't have to wait too long cause we got there early but this place is worth the wait! The service was awesome and made us feel at home. We also loved how nothing matched and we could sit at the counter and watch the magic be made by the cooks! We would come all the way back to Monterey just to come here again!

Adrian F.

Yelp
Food: 7/10 - Mid Customer Service: 3/10 - The crackhead serves were damn near disrespectful. Ambiance: Cramped like a can of sardines. DO NOT GO, AND SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND MONEY!!

Nicole G.

Yelp
If you want an experience... come HERE! Had a blast! Everyone sang HBD to my husband... it was fun and hilarious at the same time, but memorable. The food is / was AMAZING. All types of music from bad bunny to Brittany Bit$h. So much fun!! Definitely come back!

Richard M.

Yelp
Simple menu with great quality items. We ordered the breakfast wrap and sourdough French toast that we had them monkey style it. Very much enjoyed both. Staff is fantastic and the atmosphere is great with fun music. You're right on the water and if you have to wait for a table it's no big deal, go look at the Seals playing.

Angee G.

Yelp
First off, do not come if you are in a hurry! You will wait for a seat, and then you will wait for your food, more than normal wait times. Boyfriend brought me since I had never been, looked like a cute little place and it totally is! Staff was nice, busy. Got the hubcap pancake, it was HUGE. Also ordered clam chowder, could've been too early in the day, waited longer for it to be brought to us. When it finally arrived was just off. Runny. Much better clam chowder out there on the wharf in my opinion. Overall happy I went and experienced it.

Mary Cel A.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Their chocolate chip pancake was humungous, bigger than my daughter's face. It took 45 minutes before we got seated because of so many customer line, however the service was great & the staff were attentive once we were seated! The place was tiny and located in a tiny wharf but the food was excellent!

Taniesha L.

Yelp
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so when I find a good breakfast spot I'm happy. First of all, this place is small and we passed it up while looking for it. It's right in the water but I have to be honest, it looks a little sketch at first glance. When we walked up the woman at the front was friendly and let us know we can sit anywhere because it wasn't busy yet. Once we sat down people started coming so we came just in time. After looking over the menu I ordered a veggie omelet with chicken Apple sausage and my husband ordered sausage , eggs and waffles Everything was very good! I loved the omelette, the sausage was so good! And I husband really enjoyed his meal. I loved the service , they played music and was very friendly, it was mostly woman staff and when I asked what to do today for my husband and I, I swear they planned my whole day and we had a great time! I really like this place. I will be back!

Anthony M.

Yelp
Wife and I came here for a quick breakfast, not knowing how amazing this place really was. We were surprised on how small the location was, but it also made you feel more connected to the cooks and servers. Both cooks and servers were amazing and the whole vibe and experience was amazing and made us feel welcomed. The flavor of everything was above expectations and we would recommend this place to anyone who comes to Monterey. It's right on the pier so the walk up to the restaurant is also very nice. Overall, A++++++++++!!! This will be our go to spot anytime we come back to Monterey!!

Teri G.

Yelp
Get a seat at the counter for the show! Happy busy people serving up breakfast at its best. We mentioned to our friendly attentive server that we were sharing our omelet and then watched the chef split it on our plates. How sweet! The show is fast and furious. I learned a new way to make French toast, and saw the biggest pancake in my 63 years. Our spinach omelet with cheddar, bacon, avocado was superb! Loved the pico de gallo topping or omelet omelet and potatoes. Enjoyed the view of the kitchen and the harbor. You'll have to wait a bit for a table, so enjoy walking along the wharf. Its worth it! Enjoy!

Krystyne M.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this place. I had the crab and shrimp omelette with a Lou Mosa. I would recommend you come early so you can enjoy your breakfast with a beautiful view. Best Breakfast in Monterey!!!! The atmosphere is fun and warm and exciting every time I come.

Wendy K.

Yelp
We were there early on a Sunday morning before 9:00 and there was no wait. The service was excellent and very attentive. They had squid and eggs on their menu and I asked our waitress if many people ordered it. She said her it was her best friend's favorite. So I got it. It was very tender. My husband got their daily special which was a Mediterranean scramble with spinach, feta, sun-dried tomatoes. He loved it! We had to go with the huge pancake just because this place is famous for it and it was bigger than the plate and delicious! It's so funny that they serve their syrup from coffee cups. But a great idea to keep it warm!

Rob M.

Yelp
OUTSTANDING little shack full of the best and largest pancakes I've ever seen. If you're looking for a "cool factor" for breakfast, and if you're starving - you'll love it. I had the banana pancake, and ate about half, taking the rest back to the hotel for the next morning on the way out of town.

Tyler H.

Yelp
A cute little stop in the middle of the pier. Great for breakfast. I recommend the crab cakes as they go well with the pico de gallo. They were welcoming and attentive to refill our coffees. My only complaint was the knife in my place setting wasn't clean. They replaced it immediately.

Kristina T.

Yelp
Service was nice but maybe I came on an off day for their strawberry pancake. My pancake was mushy and jelly. Maybe they use frozen strawberries? My husband said my omelettes are better at home. For the price, it just wasn't worth it. I'm not quite sure how they got so many good reviews.

Molly L.

Yelp
Advertised as open on Sundays, but went 20 minutes ago and they're closed. No sign or explanation.

John C.

Yelp
We came back here as my wife has been craving the clam chowder. You have to get here early as there is always a wait and they close at 12:30. We got lucky and they were still accepting waitlist at 11:40. (I think we were the last group in ). Anyways my wife says the clam chowder is always worth the wait. The employees are friendly and my bacon eggs and potatoes were delicious. We will be back next time we are in town.

Z L.

Yelp
Thriving breakfast spot with fantastic food generous portions and wonderful people. Unfortunately the restaurant is now closed due to what looks like failed lease negotiations. While the view is unreal trust me when I tell you that those business would thrive in any location. I sincerely hope you open up again soon, and if it happens to be in a new location I'll be the first to visit. Whoever the landlord is has no chance of getting a better tenant. Probably a good business move to make the landlord hemmorage because let's be honest its too small of a place for most but you figured out how to make it work. All the best!

Bj H.

Yelp
Wow!!! Everything was so delicious!! The crab cakes were so fresh! They didn't have a lot of filler, just delicious crab! The reef rider was perfectly done! The potatoes were also amazing. We didn't get the hubcap pancake, but it was HUGE! Guy Fiere agrees!

Juanita L.

Yelp
It was nice to have breakfast on the wharf but I don't think this place has amazing food - it's a decently sized menu with decent/basic food. It's a 3.5 for me! There's usually a wait since it's a small place so once you get there out your name on the list (well, make sure your name will be on the list before paying for parking because if their list is already long, you won't get a spot since they do want to close on time too). To kill time, you can walk around and they'll call you when your table is ready. We sat outside since that's where a table opened up. I didn't get to go look inside but it looked really dinery and fun. Service was fine but more like "here's your plate, we'll come back later to collect payment" since that's how it was for us haha. Now, the food. I ordered the crab cakes breakfast plate with sunnyside eggs but got scrambled eggs (too hungry to wait for new eggs). The plate itself was small and didn't even come out hot. The crab cakes were the really bready and flavorless. The "famous" potatoes were barely warm but have potential if they were actually hot and crispy. Overall, a fun spot because it's on the wharf buuuuuut it's definitely not worth the wait unless basic food is your thing.

Annie C.

Yelp
The food was excellent and the waitresses were sweet and energetic. Food came out quickly. The table next to me ordered the pancakes and they are a SPECTACLE. Random note: the ketchup is clearly not Heinz; it has a unique flavor, so I recommend trying it. (They told me they don't make it themselves, though, so it's not a house special thing.) There are a few outdoor tables and the inside looked pretty small as well, so be ready to wait depending on when you arrive. It's on a pier with a giant paid parking lot, so prepare to pay.

Donna F.

Yelp
We stop here every time we're in Monterey...at least once! Food and service are great. Restaurant is located on the pier.

K J.

Yelp
Small, on the wharf, but amazing breakfasts and brunches! One of my favs in Monterey.

Denis F.

Yelp
Loulou's provides a delightful breakfast experience with its charming ambiance and delectable morning menu. From the attentive service to the mouthwatering dishes, every visit is a culinary delight. A hidden gem that deserves every bit of praise.

Les A.

Yelp
Tasty food in an unusual location. Menu is somewhat limited, and price is a bit higher because of the view and limited seating. Potatoes and pico de gallo are delish.

Elijah O.

Yelp
The employees at the restaurant on this particular Sunday morning were incredibly welcoming and kind. The menu was diverse and exciting, offering a wide range of delicious options. The food was not only tasty but also beautifully presented, making the whole dining experience delightful! Not to mention it's located right on the pier leaving you a beach view reminiscence of a postcard come to life, with soft sand and crystal-clear waves. A true staple of Monterey! A must visit! Our wait time was completely worth it !

Ken O.

Yelp
Good food, good service. On the working wharf with plenty of free parking before 8 am! My wife and I are seniors so splitting a traditional eggs. bacon, potatoes, and toast breakfast was perfect. Coffee was good too. Nothing great but we shall return!

S M B.

Yelp
Fantastic experience. Yummy coffee, pancakes, syrup, omelettes, jam, potatoes- we loved it ALL. Fair prices and very nice ppl who work here! Thank you!

C D.

Yelp
Went here recently for a three generation breakfast. We had a long wait, about 45 minutes. We had a wonderful breakfast, but I'm not sure it was worth that wait. It's a tiny place, so the wait was expected. I'll probably choose a different location next time just so the older folks don't have to wait so long.

Monique M.

Yelp
We had a group of 8 and were able to be seated outside. Our group had children and adults and everyone's food as delicious! Highly recommend you try this place, the food is very good.

Sandra S.

Yelp
The hostess needs to learn some hospitality manners. They two female hostesses walked around looking in happy and miserable. We were pit on a 40 minute wait and came back 45 mins later and the hostess said you need to wait a minute and rushed took a phone call making reservations for a party of five. We walked around the pier and decided to eat at the Sandbar girl, the best choice ever, and another 45 mins later we still have not received a call letting us know our table was ready. Save yourself the unprofessionalism and get treated like royalty at the Sandbar Grill.

Tom P.

Yelp
We are locals and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast with our dogs. The dog friendly atmosphere and excellent food makes this our new go-to breakfast spot. We highly recommend it! Be sure to try the homemade breakfast sausage. It's out of this world!

James W.

Yelp
Awesome food paired with awesome service as always! A must have every time I'm in the area. The squiddle and eggs is definitely the best!
