Louvre in Ponta Delgada delivers truly exceptional food—we’ve been twice and returned specifically for the unforgettable seafood casserole. We also tried the cheeseboard, chili mayo fries, mackerel salad, and chocolate cake, all of which were fresh, crunchy, and full of flavor. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality and execution make it well worth it. Service can vary depending on the staff, and while the indoor space feels a bit dark and cramped, the outdoor seating is much more inviting. We’d highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates high-quality food and would gladly return ourselves.

This place is a true hidden gem of the island—an elegant experience with exceptional taste. The seafood arancini are perfectly crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside, filled with tender pieces of seafood. We asked for our steak to be cooked medium, and this is the first restaurant that truly nailed the doneness just right. The pasta is rich, flavorful, and generously packed with seafood. And the lemon and pistachio tart is a delightful surprise—crunchy bits of pistachio add great texture and leave a unique, memorable aftertaste. If you visit, make sure to stop by the bar and ask for a cocktail—the Disaronno Sour we had was one of the best flavor combinations we’ve ever tried.

Fantastic Restaurant! Make sure to make a reservation in advance. Best red wine risotto I’ve ever had and chocolate cake. Great and friendly service :)

We were told this was a place we needed reservations for, but we showed up and got in relatively quickly (1 hour wait). We sat outside and had delicious wine and got some stake. Cute atmosphere too. We had a great appetizer, different cheese from all over the Azores.

It's better to reserve a table in advance. Very cozy place. You could be seated on a table or at the counter (which I enjoyed). I had dinner and food was good, with a fast service. I had an Azorean artisanal craft IPA, but they also serve regular beer, wine and cocktails. Recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience here. It’s a quaint little restaurant in the city proper. A couple tables outside and a variety of seating inside. We didn’t have a reservation but they managed to squeeze us in. The service team ended up rearranging some other table resos so that we could stay longer (originally gave us an hour). Thank you! Minus forgetting to order our mains, service was excellent. They were quick and very accommodating. Good recommendations for the menu and dishes were served warm. My partner and I shared two dishes : the cheese plate and the meatballs. The variety of cheese was nice - there were 3 sorts and all local. 3 slices of bread were provided, I think they could have given one more. The spicey-ish sauce that came with was DELISH! Also should have been more though imo. Actually, they should sell that sauce, it was so good. Meatball & Polenta dish was great , very filling! Came with 4 good sized meatballs. Could be a main tbh. My partner ordered the pork belly . He said the flavour was great but much too much fat - like 25%. The shrimp spaghetti was an easy winner. Multiple staff recommended (yes I asked a couple people). The flavour was popping. Lots of shrimps , pasta cooked perfectly. One of the most delicious sauces I’ve had. A++ Also had a latte, and a passion fruit lemonade. Both were good. The passion fruit lemonade was a lovely balance between tart and sweet. Would easily go back.

If you want to have a calm evening with great food, this is the place for you. Very fun and kind waiters serving delicious food - either traditional or modern cuisine. I loved their bolo do caco and pear tarte tatin. Lovely interior both elegant and cosy

Google
Margarita was such an amazing bartender. She recommended some stunning drinks and provided such great service. She helped us with local restaurant recommendations and tips, all while managing a busy afternoon service My wife was blown away with the lasagna and pastries too. 10/10 recommend this place!

Yelp
I don't want to say this place has the best breakfast on the island, but it might be one of them! Came for a late night amaretto sour one night and then promptly returned the next morning after taking a sneak peek at their menu. I'm glad we did because both dishes belonged in the Louvre The eggs Benedict had a generous amount of ham and bacon on a sweet massa sovada bread. Topped with the fluffiest eggs you've ever seen and slices of avocado that were fresh even by California standards. The fried chicken though was somehow even better. Thick, crispy, and incredibly juicy and paired with a surprise strip of cured ham. The waffle was more of a massa English muffin, which put a plain old waffle to shame. This restaurant mostly caters to tourists, and I'd let them trap me any time!

Yelp
Amazing coffee and deserts!! A must do while in port. Note: they open at 11am but the kitchen doesn't open until noon.

Yelp
Don't bother booking a table. At 50 years old this is the first time I've ever been annoyed enough to leave a bad restaurant review. We booked a table for 2, arrived 10 mins early, after being blanked by the staff for about 20 mins I finally managed to get the lady (with short hair) manager's attention, only to be told that a walk in had been waiting for our table for an hour. The walk in then sat themselves at our table. The restaurant manager, rather than asking the walk in to move because the table was booked, asked us if we could wait for them to finish the bottle of wine they'd just ordered. We'd already been waiting for our table 30 mins beyond the time booked at this stage. First time I've ever experienced anyone working front of house in a restaurant not have the assertiveness to tell a walk in that a table is booked. It's New Year's Day, most other places are closed (which is why we booked a table in the first place), so she's totally screwed up our day.

Yelp
The service is superb here! I visited twice on my visit to Sao Miguel. The first time, I had this beautiful brunch that included one of the best roibos teas I've ever had. And this chicken and waffle type meal that was kiss ya mama! Today, I tried an entree of mine and my server's making: A salad with the chicken from the chicken brunch item, side of fries. I did that because I had to get dessert this time. I was too full on my first visit here. Fries were crispy and thick. I'm not sure how they did that, but they did. This will definitely be one of those places I visit when I return to Sao Miguel

Yelp
Delicious food in this trendy and cool restaurant such as Arroz Malandrinho do Mar or the Seafood Rice Casserole, Croquettes de Morcela Mostrada D'Ananas or Black Pudding Croquettes with Pineapple Mostarda. I shared this meal with my husband on our first day in Azores! We were delighted to have found it. Such a lovely decor and ambiance. We ended our wonderful meal with their notable chocolate cake and it was well prepared. Not too sweet with bold chocolate flavor. The service was good but they seem overwhelmed by the popularity of the restaurant.

Yelp
We loved the Louvre Michaelense so much we went back for a 2nd time this trip. Everything was so delicious, I highly recommend the eggs Benedict and the chicken pancakes! Service was top tier and we had the same server both visits and she remembered us as well. This will definitely be a staple when we visit again.

Yelp
My first night in town and I was recommended to have dinner here by asking a friendly group who had been in Ponta Delgada all week - where should I eat? They said "Louvre" you won't be disappointed. And that's absolutely true! Not only is the atmosphere inside this cozy restaurant very hip, but also the food I had was so delicious - that I came back the very next night to repeat the meal! I had a don julio blanco tequila cocktail, and a Seafood Rice Special that made me first think it was similar to a seafood paella, but it was LOADED with over a dozen small clams, shrimp, octopus, and a solid piece of white fish on top. Friendly young staff, attentive, smiling, and helpful. If I was in town for a 3rd night I probably would have eaten here again for a third time in a row! I highly recommend. Maybe I'll come for brunch before leaving the island!

Yelp
Was welcomed w/a glass of sparkling wine for my birthday. Waitstaff was attentive. Ordered the fried chicken pancakes which came w/bacon & a fried egg. Chicken was moist, crunchy & tender. Pancakes dark, but light & fluffy. Also ordered the avocado toast (ok, but not spectacular) & a quiche which came w/a salad.

Yelp
We started with the pumpkin fritters that was cheesy on the inside and crispy on the outside. My wife got the Ravioli Carne Asada as an entree and I got the Beef Rossini and both were decadent. We ended the meal with their signature chocolate cake which was scrumptious and rich in flavor that sang a symphony in your mouth

Yelp
Cool little spot we decided to try to get away from bad Hotel breakfast. Menu is eclectic and you should be able to find something for everyone. I had Eggs Benedict and my wife got a Croque Monsieur with a fried egg. (They don't offer a Croque Madam, so you can get the egg added) A very strange thing, I asked for a side of berries. Waitress returned to ask if I wanted the berries ON the Benedict? I, of course, said no, on the side. She informed me that additions had to be part of the dish and they could not give me berries on the side. So freakin weird. So, I got no berries. I was excited to see iced tea on the menu but a tiny bit disappointed when it came and was a Roobios blend. It was good and reminded me of a spiced Indian tea, but I was hoping for just regular tea. Still, I would get it again in a pinch. Place isn't perfect, hours of diffrrent service (breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner) are a bit all over the place and confusing, but food was solud and it's definitely worty your time!

Yelp
We ended up here on a quest for a stuffed whale to bring back but turned out to be a fantastic spot to get a quick nice brunch before whale watching. One was a thick slice of sourdough with a tuna escabeche with pickled vegetables and another was a kind of English muffin with smoked tuna and sour cream or crème fraiche with dill. Yum. Everyone was sitting outside but the inside is beautiful wood and tile.

Yelp
Super super super! Tasty dishes, cool vibe, the flavors hit just right. Prices were reasonable, service was great, in a very central location. I loved every plate!

Ashley S.

Yelp
The food was amazing. We had the beef raviolis, fries, duck and another plate I cant remember ! 100/10 recommend! Staff was great, loved the ambiance of the restaurant, very cozy, you can watch the chef cooking too!!

Yelp
I highly you recommend you make a reservation here during your visit to São Miguel. We originally hadn't planned on eating here, we had stopped in for cocktails. While there we decided that we had to eat there during our trip. Because we didn't have a reservation, we had to wait awhile for a table - so make your reservation early! We tried out quite a few drinks off the cocktail menu and a number of the food dishes. I ordered the ravioli, my husband the pork belly, and our friend a steak. For dessert I got the lime tart/pie thing. My ravioli was amazing. It tasted Housemade. My husband raved about his pork belly, I tried a bite and thought it was very flavorful. Our friend tried bites of both of our food and said that, while his steak was good, he wished he had ordered one of our dishes instead. The lime tart was so yummy, and not too sweet. The waitstaff was very friendly. We wished we could have also tried their brunch food, but couldn't because we had to leave too early the next day.

Yelp
Perfect spot! I was here early for a coffee (Americano for me) and a croissant. Coffee was excellent and the croissant was very tasty. There are several seats inside. We were there before she put out the tables and chairs outside, but I definitely enjoyed the eclectic environment inside. They do have strong free WiFi too. I watched someone bring in a breakfast cake (maybe a coffee cake) and set it up to sell. She might have been the owner or the pastry chef. If you are looking for a spot to stop for coffee, look no further. Stop here.

Yelp
What an interesting little coffee shop. The decorations inside are unusual with shoes and old radios adorning the walls. They have a Nespresso machine for making superb coffee. The croissants we had were fresh and tasty. If you are wandering through Ponta Delgado you may find this unpretentious cafe hidden in the maze of streets that make up the town. They do have outdoor seating but when we were there the chairs and tables were stacked up. Inside there are about six tables and they have a counter with pastries that dominates the center of the room. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Really great food, also for vegetarians. Choice company guaranteed. Sit at the bar to learn about cocktail making

Yelp
This was our favorite meal we had on the island! I had the lobster roll and it was one of the tastiest I've ever had, and my boyfriend enjoyed the pork belly so much it nearly brought him to tears. We came for lunch so didn't have to wait too long for a table, and the inside seating area was a super comfortable temperature despite being open to the outside on a super hot day. The service was a little slow but not unreasonably so, just good to be aware if you're in a hurry to get somewhere after. Overall would highly recommend stopping in for a meal!

Karin S.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! The chicken was so tender with amazing flavor. Asparagus risotto creamy and flavorful. Dessert to die for! Cute bar too!

Anita D.

Yelp
Incredible! Had late brunch & then came back next day for snacks that turned into dinner. They elevated avocado toast to over the top delicious, and everything else just super tasty! Great ambience and friendly service

Yelp
Charming café with varied menu. We tried the fish rillettes with house-made picked vegetables and toast, the grilled vegetables with romanesco saice, and the vegetable ravioli. Everything was freshly made, appetizing, and very flavorful. They offer a wide variety of teas by the pot or by the cup, as well as coffees in the Portuguese style. Service was attentive and the prices more than reasonable.

Yelp
Cute second story cafe restaurant where the house specialty is house made granola topped with yogurt. The granola is more like muesli and has a bunch of stuff like almonds and chia seeds. Paired with jams, butter, cheese, bread, tea and espresso. All for ~5.50€. The atmosphere is relaxed and almost like visiting a friend's house.

Yelp
This quaint bakery/cafe specializes in delicious pastries, a wide selection of teas and their house speciality--yogurt topped with honey and granola. During my first visit to the cafe, I arrived later in the day (after 4:00pm) and unfortunately many of the pastries were sold out. I asked the waiter for a recommendation and I ended up ordering a cappuccino and a honey cake. The cappuccino was mediocre--a lot of cinnamon (which I love), but too sweet. The honey cake, however, was absolutely delicious. Very sweet, so if you do not have a sweet-tooth, you may want to share it with someone. It is not large, but about half-way through, it can become overwhelming. For me, it was perfection. I highly recommend it. During my second visit, I arrived a little after 10:00am on a weekday and they were not very busy. I found a table right by the window (perfect to sip on coffee, read and even people watch). I ordered the pequeno-almoço (yogurt topped with granola and honey). For only €5.5, I got a nice bowl of the delicious yogurt, topped with honey and granola, a small basket of toast and bolo lêvedo, three slices of delicious local cheese and an espresso. This was a perfect and very filling breakfast...I highly recommend it! My waitress was so sweet. She gave me the option of butter and jams or cheese. Being a cheese-lover, I opted for the local cheese and I was not disappointed. After my breakfast, I stayed in the cafe and read a little. It was nice and quiet and if you're looking for a cozy place to relax and maybe read a little, this place is perfect. Keep in mind they are super busy later in the day and on weekends.

Yelp
I've been here several times for "avocado toast" and coffee. Great pastries, also! Upbeat staff, easy-going vibe make this a great spot to breakfast, relax, whatever ...

Amanda R.

Yelp
Such a cute little gem in downtown Ponta Delgada. I've eaten a lot of avocado toast, and I'd say this was up there with the best. All the flavors were so fresh, the egg was perfectly cooked, and the local cheese was a nice touch. Would definitely get again!

Yelp
Dont leave São Miguel without eating here!! Amazing coffee, atmosphere, options, etc. I am vegan and my husband is not, and we both felt like we had plenty of options. Alternative milks for lattes, vegan options for desserts as well. Highly recommend!!

Silvane S.

Yelp
Delicious food!! Must try. Large portions of amazing food .. I definitely be back on my next trip to San Delgado

Yelp
Nespresso coffee, really! I edible baked goods...the lard coated my throat. Very comfortable... otherwise

Yelp
This is such a beautiful cafe with excellent coffee and food. The decor and attention to detail are outstanding. Such a cool spot to chill and recharge!

Yelp
Lovey cafe. It was a former hat shop. It has retained the original counters and shelves which adds to the atmosphere. The coffee, beer and treats were all good. Excellent service. We will return for more.
