L'OV Osteria Vegetariana

I hesitate to ding vegan concept Restaurants but flavors and focus matter and value for the price matters. La Osteria Vegeteriana in Florence offers a promising concept by providing a vegan and vegetarian menu, but unfortunately, they’ve also chosen to make it gluten-free. While being vegan or vegetarian is a lifestyle choice, gluten-free dining is a medical necessity for some, and the all-encompassing approach might not cater well to everyone. The menu is vast, ranging from Pad Thai to gnocchi, but this broad focus seems to spread the kitchen too thin, resulting in dishes that miss the mark. Our meal included fried mushroom, polenta cake, gnocchi, sausage and beans, quinoa cabbage roll, and pancetta. Sadly, each dish was easily forgettable. Portion sizes are incredibly small, especially considering the high prices. The wine list is not impressive, featuring only one subpar wine available by the glass. Service was ok, we asked for that said glass of wine and they completely forgot to deliver until prompted. Overall, while La Osteria Vegeteriana has the right idea in providing diverse vegan and vegetarian options, it needs to refine its focus and execution to truly stand out.

I LOVED this place! It’s definitely worth coming to if you want a nice dinner, regardless if you’re vegetarian or vegan, but definitely should come if you are veggie. I ordered a few things just to try for myself. I loved the pasta soya bolognese / ragu, while the eggplant dish was interesting I thought it was going to be more of a hot dish, baked but it wasn’t but still good, and the chocolate cake w hazelnuts I thought was also delicious. Service and ambiance were lovely. Highly recommend !!!

The service in this restaurant was fantastic. The waitress was very attentive. I tried the Balinese satay and it was great! The gado gado was great with the peanut sauce. Would recommend. The atomosphere inside the restaurant is also very nice. A lot of plants and lights.

Pasta was delicious! We got the spinach and ricotta ravioli with butter and sage along with the carbonara tartufo. Both dishes were great so Highly recommend for pasta & dessert. The cheesecake with chocolate was amazing and the perfect way to finish the meal. Great for allergies. AIC kitchen for celiacs. With all vegetarian options & many vegan options.

Absolutely fantastic food! I was blown away by their take on vegan lasagna and Italian sausage! Would highly recommend. Many vegan options that feel really thought out.

Vegetarian could go anywhere else, it would be better. Went to this restaurant twice. 1st time had the medallion, which was ok but no seasoning and small portion for the price. Second time had mushroom leek risotto with a side salad, very disappointed. Salad arrived first, 7€ not on the menu. The risotto was just plain rice, no leek, with four mushrooms and no seasoning, very small portion for 14€. Menu indicated outside is different to the menu inside. Atmosphere is great tho, but it pretends to be "gastronomic", while it's not. I'll go eat my desert somewhere else...

The people who give this place 5 stars have very low standards when it comes to vegetarian/vegan food... and a lot of money. We ordered the zucchini flowers and only got 3 of them for €13 ???? Then we had the black truffle carbonara, which needed a lot of extra salt and pepper and lacked truffle flavor, and the bolognese pasta which was just "fine". Both pastas were slightly undercooked and the portions were way too small. Worst place we went to in Firenze. We left super disappointed. Definitely avoid this place! You would be better off as a vegetarian eating literally anywhere else.

Very good food, super friendly staff. If you’re an animal lover, you will love their menu and their vibe. Most of the menu is vegan. Absolutely recommended if you visit Florence!
