Had the chance to stop by LoveThyBeast on my recent trip to NYC, and I have to say—the store is absolutely charming! They have such an amazing selection of toys and treats, and the customer service was top-notch. I ended up grabbing a bunch of things for my dog because I just couldn’t resist all the cute items they have. I’m definitely coming back next time I’m in town! :)

I love this store! The owner, Tiziana along with her two employees, Caitlin and Judi are super helpful and knowledgeable on both dog breeds and fashion. I was able to fit my dog perfectly into his new sweaters thanks to their help and expertise.

I went to Love Thy Beast and they helped me for my dachshund with the right harness! They have a gorgeous assortment of products too! Def worth a visit if you like good gifts for your fur baby!

Not just cute, everything I looked at in the store was really high quality. The staff was more than helpful. They fit my two little guys into the perfect snowsuit and sweaters. I also picked up the most cozy and posh bed. Everything they have is so stylish. They made us feel like friends and made my pups so comfortable. Thank you for the amazing boutique experience.

Amazingly friendly staff. My dog is obsessed with this store for good reason. They’re so good to her. They have high quality treats, great toys, and well made accessories too. An asset to the neighborhood!

What a fabulous store. The people who work there really love animals! We were able to try on many coats to see what was most comfortable for our dog. They were patient with her and not fussy about her sniffing around things in the store.

I have what one may call an obsession with Love Thy Beast. I live in the San Francisco area and visit New York frequently, with my French Bulldog tagging along. We are fortunate to stay in the East Village during our visits and were thrilled when we discovered the shop was a short walk from our hotel. I had initially learned of the brand via a friend and purchased a bag for subway and taxi transportation purposes, we were immediately hooked! We eventually started adding coats for our chilly NYC visits, along with hoodies, and sweaters. We may literally own one of everything. In addition to some traditional dog toys, the owner has designed some of her own that are sturdy, cute, and made by women in Nepal! We add one to our collection every time we visit. In addition to top of the line bags and dog clothes, the store also carries dog food and treats with quality ingredients for your beloved four legged friend. And also very important... the customer service is always wonderful. The staff is a delight and they remember us every time we stop in... did I mention I live in the other side of the country? As all the products are very high quality, we now order online between visits to the Big Apple. I cannot rave enough about our favorite pet boutique on the planet!

It's not hard to run a retail shop with average customer service. Average customer service works great in New York

Shocking behavior from the woman working at the shop today. Unsure if she's the owner or an employee but we walked in on 12/27 Friday afternoon around 4pm. We were looking around for sweaters, and the woman asked if there was a size we were looking for. I replied, "No, we're just looking around, thanks!" She proceeded to quite literally roll. her. eyes. and MOCK me "...just looking around..." and mumble a slew of other things I couldn't hear under her breath. When I asked if she was saying something, she ignored me. I asked again "excuse me, ma'am, are you talking to me?" and she finally looked up and said "nope." Comically appalling attitude from a middle aged woman. We walked out immediately and will never give them our business again. Thanks, but no thanks!

Horrible customer service. They were running a good sale, and so I purchased two carriers. My order was cancelled without explanation, and no response after two e-mails. This seems like a pretty dishonest business.

Horrendous policies and as mentioned multiple times in the reviews - awful customer service. Purchased a dog accessory and had a change of heart before leaving the store and I wasn't allowed to return it - only exchange. Completely brand new off the shelf less than 5 minutes ago. Having purchased many a somewhat overpriced dog-toy here out of convenience, I'll consciously be steering clear to avoid supporting a business with such poor customer service.

Went In store without my dog to buy shoes, told the man working at the store my dogs size and he recommended a size up from the ones I initially had to purchase. When I got home I tried the shoes on my dog and they did not fit, they were too big. I called the to check how many days I had to exchange the product for a smaller size and was told they were final sale. The man on the phone, who said he was the owner Mark, told me they are very clear about the shoes being final sale and have signs everywhere in the store that say so as well. No one told me this and I asked where the signs were. He not only did not answer but he started maniacally laughing. No one told me anything about final sale, nor did I see a sign. When I said this, I was told that was impossible and laughed at. I have likely spent over 500 dollars at this store and am shocker and appalled by the way I was spoken to and the customer service by the owner. Absolutely shook by this experience.

All I can say is WOW. I am appalled by how poorly a small business handles undelivered products and customer satisfaction. Store policy is "not responsible for lost or damaged shipments"... but if the package never got delivered (even though tracking number says it did) while having your shipment insured with USPS PRIORITY FOR UP to $100, you'll still deny your customer of the proper replacement. I think there's a word for that... Tiziana did not respond to any correspondence email.

Poor quality products from China and VERY poor customer service from the owner. I can also read online that she treats not only the customers bad but also employee do not get paid on time and very bad workspace environment. Do not buy china products for your dog this place

Walked 20 minutes to find they are closed today for inventory. I knocked and no one was there. Call ahead to be sure the store is open before you come. I have been here before and they are an upscale pet shop with unique items like a variety of fashionable dog carrying bags, toys, bowls and more

Super cute doggy and kitty lover store. Nice selection of heathy treat for both species... That salmon skin tho! Got my Yorkie a "love thy beast" canvas bag and he loves it more than his crate. This is their design. Have two kitties and they got a catnip felt cannabis leaf plushie. Loved it right away :) Shoutout the young gentleman who helped Tank get fitted when he got a harness for the first time ! Wish pricing was a bit more affordable but what can you do..come here if you spoil your pet!

While the cake is beautiful (but cupcake size for $27+) and my dog ate it, it did not arrive in time. It took many days for the order to even be confirmed on 6/28. My dog's party was 7/4, his birthday on 7/9 and receipt of the cake was received 7/12. I wrote explaining the date of the party and was sent back a text with a USPS tracking # listed (when in fact it wasn't shipped by USPS but UPS.) Buyer beware!!!!

This spot is really cute, unique, and carries items you won't find elsewhere. Staff is super nice and happy to greet you and help make selections. The toys, treats, beds, and collars are all easy to buy on a whim and be happy with. All nice quality and reputable brands. If you're looking for something for the InstaPet - you'll find something cool here for sure. If you're after the clothes, come with your dog. There's a slim chance you'll be able to return an item although they're happy to accommodate an exchange. Great place, always happy to support small businesses vs. the chain pet stores.

I looked them up on Yelp for a gift. Saw the good reviews. Spent over $150 on a dog bed for my friends new puppy in CT. Paid to ship it. They took it out the of box. Immediately saw it was too small. They put it back in the box. I emailed the store and didn't hear back. Called. Emailed again. Almost 2 weeks later I get a reply that dog beds are non refundable. What horrible customer service and a bad policy. How do you run a business like this with expensive items? I will never ever spend a dime here and encourage all patrons to read the fine print. What a waste of my time and money. Warning: Do not purchase expensive items at this establishment.

This is truly the first pet store I've come across that has thee most ridiculous return policy. I bought a $48 jumper in Dec, too large for my pet by 2 sizes and tags are still on. So I tried returning it yesterday to be told by the sales clerk that couldn't take it back because they have a 14 day return policy! No where was this stated on the receipt and their online size chart is wrong. they were not helpful or accommodating even though it's their fault. I can't see them surviving in NYC w the way their treating customers. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!! They don't deserve any stars

I purchased the Waterproof Rain Suit, Coral for our cockapoo because of the full coverage on the legs. With shipping and tax, the jacket was about $85. After a few weeks the button that fastens the two sides together, to make zipping easier, popped off. I was disappointed. The company offered to sew the button back on if I sent it back, so I complied. The button popped off again after the fix. I wouldn't mind the issue so much if the jacket was $30, but for $85, it's a letdown. I never heard back from the company after I alerted them the button popped off for the second time. The jacket also had plastic-like smell to it that never went away.

Purchased 2 sweaters from this store and decided I did not want them within 24 hours of purchasing only to be told I could not receive a refund for them only store credit. It seems like it is at the discretion of the sales associate or owner of the store if you can return a sweater, regardless of the item being unworn with tags. No where on the receipt is this explained. I was hung up on twice when speaking with the sales associate over the phone and I emailed the manager without any follow up. Will never shop here again and make sure no one I know does either.

Great local dog shop in the East Village. They have unique locally crafted toys and cute apparel. Staff are friendly and helpful.

I loved this store already (from shopping online) but I love it 100000X more after shopping in. They are so helpful, lovely and true dog lovers. Our new go-to shop for our Frenchie!

I have spent so much of my disposable income at Love Thy Beast. I can't help it!! Every time I walk in there's something that is just too sweet or fits a "need" of our pup so perfectly. Their puffer coat is the must-have coat for dogs this winter. All of their toys are so thoughtful and cute. They have a curated selection of leashes and collars. The staff actually seems to love animals, which is more than I can say for some other pet stores in the neighborhood. All of their treats are actually good for dogs and don't have a lot of filler. Great selection of bandanas and an awesome bag in a variety of sizes. Just a word on the bags: we've never had an issue on a train, but I've heard of people not being allowed on buses because the bad doesn't close entirely. You could get around it by adding a couple of snaps or Velcro or something, but good t We had to start taking a different route to School For The Dogs because every time I walked by it was a trap :) I just love it.

So my partner and I were staycationing in the city. We couldn't look at our apartment anymore. Anyways, we found a hotel that takes dogs. So on one of my walks I found LOVE THY BEAST. I was helped by the owner, she was so cool and helpful. I am telling you, best pet store ever. My dog loves her tie dye and the toy French fries.

Great little store with a lovely owner! She helped me pick out the perfect toy for my pit mix that I wanted to give to him before moving away for six months as a "way to remember me." The toy is great quality and my dog has become absolutely obsessed with it - I keep getting messages from my family that he's driving them crazy carrying it around because he won't stop whining until they throw it for him to chase :) Thanks for making Roger so happy!!!

This store is the best!! I got to meet the incredibly talented designer of my dog's carrier, who was super sweet and helpful. Both the apparel and carriers she makes are incredibly practical and adorable. I personally use my small dog's carrier every day! Definitely recommend this place for both quality of products and personalized service!

Honestly, such good quality clothing and bags for pups. We've had the tote for 2 years and it doesn't wear! It's perfect for Oscar, so comfortable and he jumps right in it! The tanks and tees are so well made and soft. Customer service is absolutely amazing and incredibly responsive. I ordered the tie dye tee and sky dye tank in the same size, and as soon as I placed my order I was called and informed that I should size up in the tank. Above and beyond customer service and the tank fits perfectly as does the tee! Repeat customer for life here!

Really poor customer service. Ordered a tote for my dog on Black Friday that was just way too big for him and the only way I could exchange for the same bag in a smaller size was to pay full price. I received a very backwards explanation as to why I couldn't exchange the same bag for the same price, which technically has less material than the one I went with, especially when you can get 20% off of any item, including the very tote I purchased, when submitting an online review via the LoveThyBeast website. The owner suggested I donate the bag - what kind of sense does that make when I had been waiting for a sale to purchase something costly that I actually need? Really poor way to run a small business. My friends who buy from them were appalled and will not be shopping there again. This bag with be sold on the secondary market - eBay.

Update: after I ordered, Love Thy Beast reached out and apologized for my experience and offered to rush my hoodie from their fulfillment center so I could pick it up, and explained that they'd been brusque on the phone because they had customers in the store. While it definitely would have been better to have great service from the start, I appreciate companies that own their mistakes and try to resolve problems so I'm feeling a lot better about them. Update: they finally got back to me on Instagram with information, more politely, after 2 days so I was able to order. I was ready to order a hoodie during the black Friday sale but ran into a couple customer service issues that made me feel unable to support this business. First I sent a message to their Instagram asking about it, and they read but didn't reply. Then I called the shop a day later (still during the sale) and they were pretty rude when I asked about the sale (apparently you have to click a different page way down in the menu even though the Instagram post didn't say so and the main website page doesn't have anything indicating it). Then when I asked if I could buy online and pick up in the store, they said the sale was online only. Not sure why they wouldn't want to skip the trouble of packing and shipping it, and if I had a shop I'd definitely be excited to meet a customer and their dog! For a luxury item I don't really need, I don't feel good about supporting someone who treated me like my business wasn't worth their time.

I was traveling in NYC right before I adopted a cat. I wanted to grab something unique for her as a souvenir. Their cat section is a lot smaller than dogs but they had some adorable toys. I settled on small sushi toys that were stuffed with cat nip. Service was very kind and welcoming!

Beautiful shop! I had asked to come in the store to see if my corgi would fit in the large tote bag and she did. Great customer service, and they really care about your pet and their products. Audrey was super helpful and friendly! Definitely recommend!!

Very nice people who love dogs, great customer service, great products that you don't find in every pet store. Pricing is a bit too high on most things. It's more of a specialty shop and not very affordable. I think they care about quality though, and that's nice.

I love my LTB tote! It is crafted thoroughly with care and passion, unlike anything else on the pet market. Period. It appears as though the "1 star" reviews did not actually own a LoveThyBeast bag -- because a "1star" review is impossible for this bag. Some of the misguided reviewers on here must have some nerve to scold the business because they haven't done their research on a bag that actually suits their needs.

i stopped by the shop yesterday to pick up a gift for a friend's pup who had just had an unfortunate hospital visit and i was so blown away by their amazing customer support. enzo greeted me as i entered the store -- offering the standard, "let me know if you need any help" pleasantry. he left me to my browsing, making himself available if i had any questions, yet not breathing down my neck. i did end up having questions -- some somewhat annoying -- but enzo didn't mind. "sure, we can unfold this beautifully wrapped dog scarf so you can see how big it is - no problem!" he said, without batting an eye. i ended up browsing for our own dog as well, and enzo was gladly able to answer any questions i had, no matter how stupid. i fully recognize that i'm a crazy dog owner, but i felt like enzo could empathize. suddenly, debating the right size Goughnuts.com toy for my frenchie didn't seem so silly -- enzo was down to weigh the pros and cons with me, without judgement. as i was browsing, he casually asked more about our pup -- what was his name and whether i had pictures. what a sweet gesture. i ended up spending way more than i had intended, but: zero regrets / 100% worth it. i love supporting local shops like this, and it makes it even more enjoyable when you have someone like enzo -- who's genuinely committed to helping customers find what they need.

Absolutely the worst customer service out there. They don't care about their customers and their pets. I was given a jacket for my dog as a gift and it was too small. When I called to see if I could exchange it for a larger size, I was told I could t since I was past the two week deadline... how is a person who receives something as a gift supposed to know that? When I explained my situation and the fact that I did not even live in the city, the assistant still refused to allow me to exchange the jacket for a different size. Mind you, the tags were still on and I was only 4 days beyond their "two week exchange period". I will be donating this jacket... and will NEVER BE A CUSTOMER EVER AGAIN HERE.

I ordered a bag and wanted to return it immediately. It was just too large. I found the customer service via email when you *want* to purchase something fast and informative. When I wanted to return this unused bag right after I received in the mail, it took them days to respond how I return (since their website says to contact them) and I had to pay for my own UPS return label since they didn't provide anything. Weeks after returning the bag I was not issued a refund, and they have not emailed me back in regards to issuing the return. The bag overall is fine (nothing great), overpriced, and customer service is very poor. I'd recommend finding any other dog bag.

Love this store! Great selection of great quality toys, clothes, and accessories for dogs of all sizes. Prices are reasonable, particularly vs other stores in the city. Staff is super helpful as well. We will keep coming back!

The woman who owns this shop is horrid. Terrible customer service and was incredibly condescending and obnoxious when asking about various products. I love to support local businesses even when it is more expensive than other stores or online, but the environment here is unwelcoming and store owner unfriendly.

I found Love Thy Beast by chance one evening a few weeks ago while I was walking home with my dog Omar, and he pulled me towards the store. I went in and discovered a really beautiful collection of dog coats, accessories, dog and cat toys, and bowls, as well as a great selection of healthy pet treats and food. I bought the cutest rain coat for my dog who was getting soaked on rainy days. He looks amazing in it! The employee who helped me and the store owner were both so attentive and so nice and gave my dog treats. I have since returned to get my dog and cat some healthy treats and picked up a cool new bandana this past weekend for Omar. Once again the store owner was a gem. I'm happy to support a small business in the East Village over a chain store, especially one that is owned and run by someone so wonderful.

As a dog owner in NYC who doesn't own a car, one reality that I need to confront regularly is the challenge of bringing my pup with me to places where freely-walkin' pups aren't 100% welcome. The subway, the coffee shop, etc. Where's this going? Love Thy Beast has the best made dog carrying bags I've been able to find. My dog is pushing 20lbs and fits in their largest bag. And it's actually pretty comfortable to carry. It blows my previous makeshift canvas bag solution out of the water. The storefront itself is small, but cute. The right size for what they're showing, really. They've got all of their products on display and a bunch of other nicer-than-they-ought-to-be pet supplies that my dog loves.

I am very disappointed! Horrible customer service! I had the worse experience. I got a total of 4 outfits for my new puppy and ill never buy anything from them again. Check the exchange policy before you buy anything because if you need help they will never do anything to help you out. They will never understand the customer.

Love Thy Beast turned an unfortunate situation into a lovely experience. I had the misfortune of my order being lost in delivery. Anna and her team were able to replace my order and now I have a wonderful bag that my Shiba Inu feels comfortable traveling in the city. The new location is great for those in the city and I cannot wait for the big store reveal in a few weeks. The bag is well constructed, simple, and comfortable for my dog and me. I hope to add another bag to the collection!

Basically, everyone with a dog needs this bag! My pup is afraid of total enclosures (like his zip-in carrier) so this bag is a godsend. Also, I figured it would take weeks to get the bag but it showed up A DAY after I ordered it! Love this company and I will probably buy the bag in every color!

Love their products! Good quality and amazing customer service. Even though it's not a retail store and you have to make an appointment to visit, once you do, you will experience an awesome "personalized" shopping experience. The owner Tiziana remembers you by your name and your dog's name and she and/or her staff really pays attention to the details of what you want/need. Can't wait to visit them again soon!!

Needed a pooch bag for the subway, but I wasn't sure of the size. The studio invited me to come for a fitting in Dumbo. They could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The bag is fabulous and of course I couldn't leave without a few toys and accessories. Can't wait for their new store to open in the East Village.

I bought a dog carrier from love thy beast two weeks ago for $180. It was the worst bag I have ever had! I called the company two days later and told the owner about the problems. 1- the bag is too deep and my dog can not lay and put his head out. The response was put a thick towel underneath her! The problem didn't get solved even though a small pillow was put there. 2-the bag has to mesh inside, so when he is laying down he can't breath. 3- it is not sturdy, each time my dog moves he falls out of the bag. 4- handles slip from your shoulder, they are leather and have no grip. No one should buy this bag. They don't return it even after two days. They make no exceptions what so ever. My dog is 9 years old and I have had, at least, 6 bags within these years and never had such awful experience.

We ordered the canvas shearling bag online, since we are from California, and had it delivered to the east coast as we were traveling there for a few weeks with our service dog, an 8 pound Maltese. We have had many different bags for him, he always loved them, he sat in them, laid down in them comfortably, and had no issues. The bag from love thy beast was HORRIBLE. First, it has no structure so when our dog tried to lay in resting towards one side, the whole bag falls over. Second, it has no mesh windows which many bags have so that your dog can have air and see out when he is laying down. So he literary can't lay down. The opening for their neck/face is too high so he has to be sitting up on all fours to even rest his head there. This bag is very badly designed, and I would not recommend it at all. Small dogs can NOT sit or lay comfortably in this bag in any way. The day we received it we called the owner and explained the issues and she said we can not return or exchange the bag. She said to wait until he gets very tired and he will sit in it!!! This is unreasonable as we were expecting an everyday comfortable carry bag for him. I am very disappointed with this bag and the company. Would not recommend.

While out exploring NYC, I stopped by Love Thy Beast and bought some items for my cats. I just LOVE this shop! Wonderful, unique selection. Very, very well made, quality items. The owner is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, too! Great shopping experience.

Buyer Beware. It has been a very long time since I was so poorly treated as a customer. In August I purchased a carrier bag at the store and received a store credit when I returned it. When I asked, I was told that there was no expiration date. I returned in November to buy a coat, which did not reach the credit total. After the sales associate called the owner, I was told that I had to spend the entire amount at one time or lose the difference, which in my case exceeded $50 (was told that I kept the credit, which had no expiration date, too long). This was a surprise and never explained before. I think the owner makes this up as she goes along. Since I never wanted to return to this store again, I decided to buy "unnecessary" items just to close the credit. As such, unless you are 100% positive that you want a product, do not buy at this store because of their vague and changing exchange /return policy. Per other Yelp reviews (which I wish I had read before I stepped in at all), this store does not value their customers. They just lost one customer who tries to support local businesses.
