We bought a grill online. When reading the reviews for the grill, we noted most people talked about having to put it together. That's what we wanted...the grill in the box...so we could fit it in our jeep.
So, we drove to the store to pick it up. Note that right there at the register, it says they can help you load merchandise into the car/truck. We told the associate we wanted it in the box. She looked shocked and said she wasn't sure if they had one still in a box but would ask and then told us it would take longer for them to bring it up to us. We were fine with that.
So, when they brought the grill up to my husband who, by the way, is on crutches because he has a broken leg, they just put the dolly with the big box by him and walked away. We had to ask for assistance to get it loaded in the jeep. When we did, the associate said, "I will see what I can do." So, after standing around for a while, the very sweet older gentleman who works there and who brought the grill up for us on the dolly, said he would try to help. As we get out to the jeep, finally, another very nice man had come out to help. So, we got the grill. But it really felt like we were inconveniencing the lady behind the counter. I felt we had done something wrong. I just expected a, "Sure we can help."
So, I wasn't very impressed with the customer service associate, but I was super impressed by the willingness of the older gentleman to help us. His name was Al & Al is awesome.
It is not that she was blatantly rude but, rather, that she was seemingly put out and made the experience of picking up the grill, that had been bought for my husband for Father's Day, less than exciting. It was a blah experience. I don't expect major enthusiasm, but a smile and a genuine willingness to help would have been great.
