Lowthwaite B&B

What a lovely place, I am dairy free and Jim and Tine didn't hesitate to get dairy free products in for me. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Les and I had a spectacular time and Jim is a wealth of knowledge. Les is disabled and Jim's knowledge was put to good use as Les cannot walk more than a few yards and thanks to Jim we found places we would have missed. So to sum it up we had an amazing stay, room was wonderful, food was good and we will not hesitate to go back.

A perfect short break in a wonderful part of the Lake District. Jim & Tine extended a warm welcome and could not have done more to make it a memorable holiday. The room was spacious with great views of the surrounding Fells. Fantastic breakfasts, including takeaway home made Muffins, largely sourced from local suppliers set us up for hiking within the beautiful Ullswater district. Jim is a great source of local knowledge advising on suitable local trails for all levels of fitness. Whilst there are a number of excellent local establishments for an evening meal The Royal Hotel at Dockray, using local suppliers, was our favourite with cheerful and prompt service and reasonable prices.|In short Lowthwaite B & B is a Lake District Gem and sets the bar extremely high. A sincere thankyou to our hosts and we cant wait for our next visit.

Fantastic 3 night stay, Jim and Tine very friendly and accommodating. Great choice of breakfast options. Home made bread and muffins! |Peaceful location, yet near to Ullswater, Penrith and Keswick so a great base for walking and lake visits. |I would definitely return and recommend Lowthwaite B&B

The breakfast, room, location and hosts were great. This B&B would have been incredible and got top marks if it wasn't for the hard mattress which stopped us sleeping and ruined our stay. We wouldn't return based on this which is a huge shame, as everything else was 100% spot on. For us the main part of your stay is having a good night's sleep, so it wasn't worth the stay purely based on that one factor and we regretted going as we were at work the day after, with sore backs and very sleepy. The host was so nice that we felt we couldn't say anything!

Wow wow wow, Location, Garden Room, Breakfast choice courtesy of Tine and the other half of Tine was Jim, an amazing host and tour guide rolled into one. He told us places to eat and walks to go on and the Horse & Farrier he told us about was the best evening meal we had all week. Just all round amazing people who cannot do enough for you.

We arrived for a one week holiday on Friday 23rd May 25 and stayed in the lovely Matterdale Room overlooking the wonderful views of the countryside. This was our second stay as we had previously been on a two night stay back in August 2024. The hosts cannot do enough for you during your stay including excellent breakfasts in the morning to cater for staggered times to suit guests. The choosing of exact food requirements is fantastic to ensure no waste and advice on trips into the Lakes is first class with the offer of maps and very detailed routes. We checked out on Friday 30th May 25 and have had a wonderful time during our stay including a mixed bag of weather but on the whole more sunshine than rain ! Get booked up early as this guest house is very popular and will not disappoint....

Fabulous B and B. The rooms are very comfortable and everything is provided for including bathrobes. Other extra touch is the hime made muffin left in your room upon arrival. We had the garden room which was on the ground floor and what was special about this room was watching the bird feeder where lots and lots of wildlife visited including the elusive red squirrel which we saw everyday which was amazing. The breakfasts are to die for and Tine's bircher muesli is the best. Such a friendly couple who made us feel so welcome every time we visit.

A charming semi off the beaten track rural location yet only 15 minutes away from Pooley Bridge and other popular spots.|Attentive and friendly hosts who are clearly passionate about their retreat and the service they provide guests.|If you want peace and tranquility this is it.
