Lowthwaite B&B

What a beautiful B&B, in a tranquil, quiet location. The room was clean, spacious and well appointed. The breakfast was really good, the showers were warm and a nice pack lunch service available. Jim was a considerate host and very happy to give recommendations for places to eat and walk. Even where to find the free car parking! Although remote, with a car the nearest pub is only 10 minutes away. |My only small complaint was the firmness of the beds. Jim did kindly provide a mattress topper when I asked, but it wasn’t thick enough to make the bed comfortable for me. I probably wouldn’t go back because the bed was just too firm, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to those who aren’t so fussy about beds as me.

A lovely place to stay with wonderful decor and amazing hospitality. The hosts Jim and Tine serve delicious breakfasts and are always there to help. We went off most of our days on Jim's wonderful reccomended walks and hikes and Tine's daily muffins would be the best snack to take on the road.

Our first stay with Jim and Tine but hopefully not our last. A peaceful location a building with interesting history, lovely welcoming hosts great room fantastic breakfast a perfect mini break. Unusual for this summer the weather was against us in being able to sit in the small terraced outdoor seating area but perhaps next time. Great recommendation for our evening meal a short drive away at the Royal in Dockray most acceptable. Didn't manage this time but some fantastic local walks plus only a short distance to join the Ulswater circular trail - more reason for a return visit.

Jim and Tine are amazing hosts! The passion they share makes every guest into true fan of Lake District. Everything is well thought through for hikers - comfortable cosy rooms, delicious breakfast, packed lunch. Loved staying there and will be definitely coming back!

My fiance and I had a wonderful relaxing weekend break here a couple of weeks before getting married.||Lowthwaite was my maternal Granddads home for nearly 30 years from the mid 70's, me and my sister spent summer holidays there in the early 80's with him.||I confessed my link to the place with Jim on arrival and he was able to share a lot more history about the building and what my Granddad did to it during his time there.||Jim kindly showed us around their home, even some of the rooms I wasn't allowed in as a kid, we even stayed in the same room I used to sleep in!!||Jim and Tine are the perfect hosts, the rooms are lovely, very clean and well appointed, the breakfasts are delicious and Tines homemade muffins are perfection👌||We will definitely be re-visiting as it has already become one of our favourite getaway places. Can't recommend it highly enough.👍

Many thanks to Jim and Tina for their warm welcome, incredible breakfasts and kind and detailed advises for walks in the area. We had a lovely room with a confortable bed, a separate sitting area (!) on a floor and delicious homemade muffins every day. Highly recommended !

Very comfortable, very clean and the bonus was the host’s abundant knowledge of the great outdoors, particularly trekking in the Lake District, even abroad! Top attention to detail. A great breakfast too!

Knowledgeable friendly hosts, wonderful breakfast, yummy daily muffins, comfortable beds and lovely fluffy towels. Parking available if you want a quiet peaceful break this is the place for you. What's not to like ☺️. Looking forward to a return visit
