Luca Hotel

Our stay at Luca was decent overall, and it was a plus that breakfast was included. We arrived late at night, and check-in went fairly smoothly, but the staff member who assisted us came across as aloof and somewhat off-putting to me. I was with my partner, yet he directed all conversation toward my partner and barely acknowledged me, which made me feel uneasy. The yard also gave me a slightly sketchy impression upon arrival—it could really benefit from better lighting—so my first impression of the property wasn’t the best. Our room had two French doors, but both were blocked for some reason, which was disappointing since I would have loved to open them. The next morning, seeing the yard in daylight and having more time to appreciate the room, I recognized that the hotel does have charm. That said, some areas could use improvement, as there’s a fine line between charming and feeling a bit run-down. Customer service could also be improved, particularly in terms of communication. Breakfast was a highlight—we had the Dominican option along with fresh fruit, and it was quite good.

The staff at Luca Hotel were fantastic. Great attitude. Helpful and always available. This hotel felt like a natural home away from home. The history, the room, the patio. I was so impressed with the level of comfort and attention to detail. My stay was perfect.

Having worked at hotels in the past I always watch for the level of service and this team is the best I have experienced in many years. Their kindness and willingness to help is very sincere and you feel as though you are their favorite guest of all time. That service was consistent from person to person. Great breakfast beautiful grounds and ideal location round out an excellent stay.

DO NOT BOOK- I booked an appartment which this hotel manages. Given my experience, I would highly recommend you to not book at any of their locations. I encountered severe cleanliness issues that significantly impacted my stay, unacceptable conditions. I question their cleaning and ethical practices. The only good thing is the location. I’ve been promised a refund due to the issues. It’s been weeks and I still didn’t receive a refund. They are now ignoring my messages. As we were leaving, we discovered shocking filth under the bed sheets. The mattress protector was covered in mold, we have not check the mattress but probably covered in mold. We are appalled that they would cover the mold with a sheet and let guests sleep on it. We also found a dead cockroach in the kitchen. This is completely unacceptable and is a health risk. We were very distressed after finding out that we've been sleeping on mold as this can severe affect our health. This apartment should not have been rented out. We noticed that the apartment had not been cleaned at all. Even basic tasks, such as emptying the garbage and changing sheets, had been neglected. There were hair of the previous guests everywhere. The general state and smell of the apartment wasn't up to standards. It is clear that maintenance and cleaning has been neglected. There was mold in the shower, stains on the floor, and broken faucet.

This room was a great value. The address is currently a little tough to find (and Google's pin is wrong) due to all the construction. Ask around and people will help you find it. The staff was excellent and speak English well. The breakfast was the icing on the cake. 100 percent would stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Luca Hotel. The management team was very friendly and accommodating to our needs, and we enjoyed how intimate and cozy the hotel felt. We traveled as a family, which was highly welcoming for our trip. The rooms were very comfortable, and the breakfast options were great. When we went, the elevator was not working, which was the only downside, but the staff and everyone were very helpful and kind. We would highly recommend this stay to anyone.

Its a fantastic option near downtown at a great price. We loved everything about the hotel. Really nice room, fantastic breakfast. Amazing staff. We were there for our first night in DR and decided to change our reservation we had at another hotel for the end of the trip and come back here.
