21 Best Things to Do in The Bahamas

"Located on Grand Bahama Island, Lucayan National Park is home to one of the world’s longest charted underwater cave systems as well as preserved remains of the Lucayan people. According to Vellacott, “There’s small caves to explore, mangrove forests with boardwalks, and a really beautiful beach at low tide. Bring snorkel gear — if you swim out to the rock offshore (about a 20-minute swim in good conditions), there’s lots of coral around.” Spend the day seeing the world-famous Gold Rock Beach and pine forests, mangroves, and coral reefs." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Lucayan National Park is a hidden gem in the Bahamas! The mix of lush mangroves, beautiful beaches, and fascinating cave systems makes it a must-visit. The trails are peaceful and easy to navigate, and Gold Rock Beach is absolutely breathtaking. A perfect spot for nature lovers and anyone looking to experience the island’s natural beauty. Highly recommended!

It is pretty inside the caves, the water is so clear and bright blue, swimming not allowed. The park is small but has flora and fauna to take a look at, which is why the 11 dollars entry fee is well worth it. Once you're done, make your way by walking across the highway and mangrove swamp to the amazing Gold Rock Beach, takes only about 10-15 minutes on the well marked path.

Excellent hike with unique geology. Can be difficult to climb down in some areas. If you have the ability to view, this is a really different experience off the beaten path that harnesses the beauty of the natural environment. Budget Friendly (only $11/pp). Lots of signage. Easy parking. Some garbage cans along the way. Bathrooms do not have plumbing or running water, however the 'pit' was fairly clean and they did have hand sanitizer. It has a fully gravel path, but would not recommend it for someone who has difficulty walking.

If you are into the beach and nature, you will enjoy this place. There are two caves you can walk down to , and when you finish, you walk across the street to this breathtaking beach. We fell in love immediately. Also, pirates of the Caribbean were filmed here. We found lots or coral, and when the tide is out, the marks you can see in the sand from the waves were pretty neat. Put this place on your bucket list when you come to freeport.

Great little park! Beautiful underground caves and flowers throughout. Friendly park rangers. Compsting toilet was clean. The Gold Rock Beach is the best on the island! The mangroves are fascinating. It is worth the modest fee to support this national treasure and help them expand!

The caves are a short walk, but the beach is pristine!

Beautiful caves ! Well worth the trip from cruise port. Park on dirt road to the right, before park entrance and access boardwalkway to avoid the ridiculous 11$pp fee. Bathrooms are horrendous latrines, you're better off using the bushes. Apparently the 11$ pp doesn't go towards much needed upkeep. No swimming in cave, but scuba is permitted with a permit. Cave is similar to Devils Den in Florida, enjoy 😉 👍
