We got reservations for the Champion's Booth and were blown away by the quality of the service we recieved! The food was presented in a really luxurious way, with golden tableware and beautiful plating. I was especially impressed by the chips and salsa trophy! I ordered the Plucking Chicken California burrito and my partner ordered the Birria California Burrito. Both were so delicious and VERY filling! The handwritten thank you card included at the end of the service was so incredibly sweet and really made our night! I'll definitely be coming back and can't recommend the service enough, you genuinely feel like a champion! 😄

I got the beef taco as well as the chicken. I would give 2/10 to both of them. The beef was especially flavorless and if it would have had any flavor, it would have been drowned out by the guac and beans on the taco. My wife however did enjoy her seafood taco. The fries could be described as “cardboard. The service was fine. It is not at all little-child friendly. The bathrooms did not have a changing table. The shop’s look and feel was cool with all the art on the walls, etc, but there was contemporary country music blaring so it didn’t exactly fit the vibe.

TBH I only came here to try the tacos and salsa. I ordered the steak, adobada, and birria tacos with a side of horchata drink. My favorite was the adobada tacos. It has great flavor and none of the tacos were oily. They all had good portion of meat. i only saw one staff and one cook. She had a great customer service and was very attending. The place was clean which is also a +. I love that i can go to a taco shop where they actually have a legit decent salsa bar & they don't charge you extra! My favorite was the avocado cilantro creama. I would recommend to go there on a weekday before 12pm when it's less busy. As for parking, well it's on university ave.. so parking is always difficult to find. This review is only for the customer service and tacos.

This one is a tough one but I think it deserves 5 stars simply because of taste and quality of tacos. Pricey and not very big, tacos start at 4.50 and can go up to $6. Got a surf and turf taco as well as an adobada taco. Some of the best adobada I’ve had - tasted delicious and cooked perfectly. Carne asada was nothing special but the shrimps took the taco to another level. Free chips and salsa with every order - chips were super fresh and salsa was very tasty! Interesting decor, not sure what it has to do with the store but the taste of the tacos make up for the gimmicky environment. Interesting juice store next door connected via a hole in the wall! Did not try it, but some of the things looked pretty tasty. Give this place a shot. A bit pricey but what isn’t these days? Delicious tacos!

As we set off on our adventure trip just to go check the first location. Were bummed to find out we couldn't sit down to eat due to floors being finished. But we got great info on the next location. Our dog goes everywhere and she was up and ready for her first long drive. As we called ahead of time to make sure it was dog friendly they were very accomediating and brought her water. As we walked in they told us they knew of our long travel and had reserved a very cute table for us. The food was so good and the staff was awesome. The burrito was so filling I brought the half home along with my fiance tacos. It felt like we brought a little bit of San Diego yummy tacos. This would be an awesome place to watch wrestlemania or any ppv matches.

Such a rad atmosphere and awesome decor. Food was really good and reasonably priced. The burrito was pretty big and tasty. They have bottled beer as well. Seating was limited but we found a seat pretty easily.

Me and some friends stopped by for a quick bite in the evening, I ordered the birria burrito. I enjoyed the flavor of the birria but didn’t end up liking French fries in my burrito so it killed the overall taste for me. Place was nice to sit in and enjoy the decor but expected more out of the food menu.

Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop: I've wanted to give this place a try since first seeing it on an episode of Man V. Food back in 2010. There are three locations in Southern California, with the North Park location being the most convenient for me to visit while on vacation. Lucha Libre is a fast-casual Mexican restaurant themed after Mexican professional wrestling. The restaurant is decorated in vibrant colors and even offers a golden "champions booth" to eat in. I'm more of a burrito than taco guy, so I went with the basic California Burrito (tortilla, steak, French fries, sour cream, Pico de Gallo, Jack Cheese, and added avocado). My burrito was both massive and tasty. In regards to the taste, my only suggestion is it could have used a little more cheese (but I'm a WI Cheesehead so most people would probably have found the amount of cheese to be just fine). I found the French fries to be a unique twist, but they did not impact the flavor as much as I had hoped (overpowered by some of the other ingredients). The steak was excellent and the avocado fresh. Now for some of the cons. For starters, the service the night I was there (11/9/21) could have been better. I placed my order online and when I went to the counter to pick it up I was ignored by both staff members working. Neither of them said "I will be right with you" or "just a minute". After standing around for a couple minutes I was the one that initiated the conversation by saying I had an order for pick-up. Secondly, I did find a hair on my burrito. Before any of you accuse me of saying it was mine I should point out that the Doughboy has short red hair and this was a long black hair..... I'm not sure when the next time is that I will visit the San Diego area, but I will probably be trying a different Mexican restaurant as Lucha Libre was a little disappointing. Doughboy_Food_Reviews
