Savannah Just Keeps Getting Cooler—Here’s Where to Soak in the City’s Creative Buzz | Vogue

"A new Italian spot in the hip Starland District, Lucia Pasta Bar pairs exposed brick and an open kitchen with delicious food that suits solo dining at the bar as well as date night in the pasta room. Order the lettuce with bright tonnato sauce, a hulking cherry tomato focaccia, and beet-stuffed scarpinocc. To wash it down, there are Negronis on draft, expertly mixed cocktails made with Italian spirits, or you can ask for a glass of the chef’s favorite Vermentino." - Lindsay Cohn

If you’re craving authentic Italian cuisine, this spot is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly baked bread, garlic, and olive oil transports you straight to Italy. The ambiance is warm and rustic — perfect for a cozy dinner or a special night out. Every dish feels like it’s made with love and tradition. The sauces are rich and flavorful, and the ingredients taste incredibly fresh. The wood-fired bread was a standout — just the right amount of char. The staff are friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food they serve. Shoutout to our server Shaye who helped us with all the veggie options on the menu and the best recommendations! My favorite part was the use of metal straws in my cocktail! 😍 PS: Don’t skip dessert — the Panna cotta was light, creamy, and the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal. Highly recommend! And can’t wait to go back for more! Pictured: CHERRY TOMATO FOCCACIA, TORTELLONI, BOCCE BALL, MOSCOW MULE & PANNA COTTA

If you love Italian food, this is a must try in Savannah. We're locals and didn't know it had already opened! Homemade pasta, brick oven pizzas, and a beautiful outside court yard for enjoying this amazing fall weather or indoor seating at the pasta bar! We tried the homemade foccacia bread, seafood pasta and tagliatelli bolognese! The sauces were light and delicious, filled with flavor! This historic site has now been transformed to such a beautiful restaurant. We heard there will be more surprises coming soon with the restoration and the staff was so complimentary of their owner. They were pleasant, very knowledgeable and kind. Thank you for making our date Night so special, Emma ! I think that was our server's name last night. We highly recommend the homemade Canolis, too!

Best pasta spot in Savannah! Such a delight enjoying dinner in this newly renovated building. Love the industrial vibes which perfectly complemented our meal. And the food—wow! Every dish was bursting with flavor and looked so gorgeous that we couldn’t stop taking photos. Absolutely unforgettable. Amazing service from their professional staff as well!

Absolutely incredible experience! I visited this new Italian restaurant last night, and from start to finish it was perfection. The atmosphere is cozy yet upscale — you can tell they put so much thought into every detail. The staff was warm, attentive, and made me feel right at home. The food was phenomenal. The pasta was clearly homemade — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You can truly taste the quality in every bite. I sat at the pasta bar, which I highly recommend — watching the chefs in action made the whole experience even more special. The cocktails were creative and balanced. Everything from the service to the presentation was top-tier.

Wonderful experience! One small suggestion—take it for what it’s worth. The GRANDMA JACOVINO ‘STEAK PIZZAIOLO’ is delicious, but it’s a lot of steak. I’d recommend pairing it with a side of pasta to balance things out. (Photo courtesy of our good friend AI 😂😄)

Started with the Bruschetta and a glass of Brut Rosé. Both were quite good. The main was a Squid Ink Bucatini with clams, crab, salmon Roe, along with a Catarratto/Lucido (a skin contact, orange wine). I LOVED this dish!! Every bite was heaven! I was debating between desserts when they brought out a Cannoli for my birthday.  Very delicious and a nice surprise!

Overall amazing experience. Every dish was phenomenal, cannot pick a favorite. Great cocktails and wine list, friendly staff, nailed it on the vibe and decor. Can’t wait to come back to Savannah just to eat here!

The waitress Nicole was awesome. We ordered the steak pizzaiolo and the squid ink bucatini . The steak was just ok, it was not prepared in the regular manor that we Are use to! Just had mozzarella and sauce. It really did not have any specialty to it. The squid pasta was great! The squid ink pasta and the sauce were amazing. The main dining room was very loud, room temp s small. The music playing was not appropriate and should be playing Italian music. The wine was great but way too expensive for only a 6 oz poor The cappuccino was awesome along with the affogato . Overall, it was just okay.

Yelp
Service was good but small plates along with the pasta were decent but nothing special. Def not worth the one month wait to get reservations. On a side note. This is not Lucia's fault but looking out and seeing this guy go to the bathroom while I'm eating doesn't exactly set the mood. City mission def drives patrons away with these folks all over the sidewalks.

Yelp
I am SO happy this restaurant opened! Savannah desperately needed it! Every dish is truly perfection. I've been twice now, and both times we started with the octopus and potato appetizer... heavenly doesn't even begin to describe it. And the salad? Not "just a salad." It's refreshing, bright, and the perfect palate cleanser for the rest of the meal. The pastas and pizzas are flawless-order anything and you'll be happy. Easily in my top three favorite restaurants in Savannah right now!

Yelp
I was lucky to snag a seat here! Even though it was about an hour wait for a solo spot, I passed the time with a drink at Smol and came back just in time to grab a seat at the bar. The space inside is absolutely beautiful, and the atmosphere made the wait worthwhile. I ordered a cocktail and the tortellini pasta dish--both were fantastic. I only stayed about 20 minutes to make sure others could get a chance to sit, but I definitely want to return and explore more of their menu.

Yelp
Great experience with friendly attentive staff. They did an amazing job with the building. The pasta fucks! Great ingredients plus great cooks equals amazing pasta dishes. It can be a little crowded inside when busy but that shows you how great the food is.

Yelp
Every dish was exceptional. The bolognese, the steak, the mortadella pizza, just to name a few. The staff were friendly and attentive. Great vibe, music, decor, all of it. I would travel back to Savannah just to eat here!

Yelp
Made reservations, seated immediately, didn't feel too close to neighboring tables as others complained, great customer service, cute aesthetic. My squid ink pasta was great, except my clams were tough. He said his bolognese just tasted like spaghetti. The focaccia was really good, huge portion too! Cocktails were awesome! 90s R&B was a pleasant surprise! I'd go back for sure.

Yelp
We went on a Thursday evening so the noise level was moderate. We sat at the bar. Our server is named Shay, she was knowledgeable about the wine selection and attentive throughout our time. The servings were small compared to most restaurant dishes but the taste, fresh ingredients made the dishes stand out. The venue is small and parking limited but the ambiance was great and the food offerings were fresh and original. We will return for another evening.

Yelp
I was ready to love this place - it's close by and the chef is well respected. I was sadly disappointed. While the flavors are good, the portions are a bit small. I know "arancino" means there is one, but normally one would be larger considering the price. 7 scarpinocc seemed a bit meager, especially as the shape lends itself to a small amount of filling. It was delicious, but a couple of more pieces would have helped. Service was good: friendly and on top of things. The biggest drawback is the volume. It's insanely loud with only hard surfaces and nothing to dampen the sound. You cannot hear across the table. Honestly, I couldn't wait to get out of there, and my husband felt the same. We skipped after dinner coffee/cocktails and dessert to escape to the street. It's a cute space but very uncomfortable.

Yelp
Great food. Attentive but not overly attentive service. We look forward to our next dining at Lucia!

Yelp
We were seated right on time for our reservation, which I appreciated. Our table was small and placed next to a door that staff and some patrons used frequently, which did take away from the atmosphere. While the lighting fixtures added to the restaurant's beautiful ambiance, one jutted into our space, making the table feel even tighter. The curved, petite chairs weren't the most comfortable, but they certainly ensured you wouldn't overindulge. Portions here are well-balanced--not the oversized plates you often find in American dining, but just the right amount. We tried the much-talked-about focaccia; personally, I prefer a lighter, airy, and crisp style, so the denser loaf wasn't my favorite. On the other hand, the beet dish was excellent, and the tortellini had a nice kick of spice. For non-drinkers, options are limited to water or canned soda, with no straws available. Dessert was a highlight--the cannoli shell was perfectly crisp, though the filling leaned a bit heavy on citrus. Still, the texture was light and pleasant. Our waitress was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, answering all our questions with ease.

Yelp
New and trying to be excellent. Very busy at 5:30 pm on a weekday, great food, but a 45-minute wait for the main course delivery. A wonderful time for a couple's conversation, but because of the noise and the material of the floor and walls, no voices could be heard. Yelling in conversation is not ideal. My pasta entrée was excellent, as was my wife's, but $15 glass of wine spoiled the experience. Two people, with a tip $108.95.
