Very nice hidden Italian place! The waiter was very nice with us. To start, we had the burrata, which was really good and the eggplant gave it a different but special touch; the only thing I would change it was that it could have some focaccia to go with. Then we tried the campagnolia and the truffle pizzas. For me, the campagnolia was amazing! The cheese was super good, and I switch the sausages for hot salami (I loved it!). The pizza was neapolitan style - amazing; and the dough was super soft. To end the meal, a tiramisú, which was really balanced and tasty. Really nice hidden gem in Sydney.

🍕 A Neapolitan Delight in Darlinghurst! I had the pleasure of dining at Lucio Pizzeria last night, and it was an outstanding experience. I enjoyed an absolutely delicious Neapolitan pizza: the dough was thin, light, perfectly baked, and the toppings were fresh and carefully selected. The welcome was warm, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere very pleasant. Kudos to the kitchen, to the restaurant, and to the entire team 👏 For dessert, I had a vanilla panna cotta with a strawberry coulis — a real treat to end a perfect meal. I’ll definitely recommend this spot to all my French friends visiting Sydney. Many thanks again, and see you soon !

Lucio's pizzeria is without a doubt one of Australia's top pizza restaurants and a staple each time we are visiting Sydney city! Coming from a pizza fanatic who is on a never ending quest to master the craft of pizza making. If you love true Neapolitan pizza or are interested in trying it, Lucio and he's team will definitely deliver you the authentic experience! Pizza is always cooked to perfection and the service is very friendly and welcoming. We asked if we can get each pizza served to us one by one so we can experience the most freshly cooked pizzas possible and the chef and waiter catered to our request. Lucio himself is the vice president of the AVPN which is an organisation that teaches and protects the art and traditions of true Neapolitan pizza making. The crust of the pizza has that crispy outer layer with the soft, airy cloud texture inside. The base of the pizza has a nice even char. All the toppings are fresh, simple and perfectly balanced which is what you are looking for when you are experiencing this quality pizza. And one of the biggest details is that the chef's cook pizza inside the woodfire oven at the correct temperature which ensures the pizza comes out on your plate the correct colour and texture. Come try Lucio's pizza! An extremely satisfying experience!

Google
I ordered three types of pizzas, and all of them were delicious. I received pizzas pretty fast. However, was that the dough of the two tomato-based pizzas was overcooked and too burnt, which made the burnt taste overpower the overall flavor. However, the cream-based pizza that came later was perfectly baked, and I was able to enjoy it thoroughly. Overall, I would be willing to visit again.

16/11/24 - 4 stars Neatly tucked away in central Darlinghurst is this open woodfired Neapolitan style pizzeria. The focus is definitely on the food as the furnishing and decor are rudimentary at best (which I don't mind). Service is quick and no bookings needed even at the busiest times which is a plus. Food, overall, is good. But. This is a pizzeria as stated in the name and that's a hint on what to order. Margherita Pizza base: S+, 8.5/10. Quite light and chewy without being doughy. Thin centre but sometimes too thin I think Toppings: SS+, 9.5/10. One of the best balanced I've had. Basil flavours were nice Value: B, 6/10. $24 is not the worst but for your basic margherita that is expensive even for Sydney Lamb ragu Flavour: A, 7/10. Decent but a bit too salty so can't rate it more than average Texture: S, 8/10. Ragu was tender and pappardelle was al dente. Maybe a bit more sauce would have been nice Value: B-, 5.5/10. $30? Really?

This was definitely worth the walk from The Cathedral. With my Nonna, mum and 4 kids, it took us back to Napoli. The food was fresh and quality was 10/10. The pizza and gnocchi was amazing 🤩. Can’t wait to go back when we are in the city next.

We went to celebrated my boyfriend's birthday and waaaaaas amazing! The place is located in a hidden vibrant street. Nice service. Also, I'm gluten-free and this one its been the most trusty, flavoury crusty pizza ever! Please, go and give it a chance!. We will be there again, for sure.

Google
A short 10 min walk from Museum station, the Lucio pizza is one of the best pizzas I’ve had in Sydney. Service was also lovely, polite and timely - no complaints at all. Seating arrangements are a little bit tight

Yelp
Walked past Macchiatto Pizza (bad reviews) twice as far to find out of the path Lucio pizza. What a gem! Similar in price but apparently superior in service and flavor. Would definitely return again!

Yelp
Went with the whole family (all 12 of us) on our last night in Sydney. It was a welcome change from the packed streets and long waits of Chinatown. Lucio's is about the same distance walk from Hyde Park, just in the other direction, tucked in a quiet residential area. They don't take reservations so we made sure we were there right at 6 when they opened. Friendly servers stacked some tables up and we enjoyed the outdoor-cafe ambiance watching people in a stroll or arriving at ours and the other little restaurants in the square. The pizza was just what we've come to expect from certified Neopolitano pizzerias. The crust is key: thin, chewy and delicious. They have a wide variety of toppings. We loved the Calzone but just as toppings on the pizza, the Fontina, the arugula-prosciutto one and the white-sauce broccoli. We ordered the 1 meter pizza (which is NOT a diameter like we were thinking - more like 4 pizzas in a row) but it wasn't enough so we ordered another 1/2 meter. The rocket-pear salad was also very good. We finished the equivalent of 6 pizzas between 8 adults and 3 kids. One of us was gluten free so they brought a mozzarella/prosciutto plate. The location was nice. The kids could run around the square while we sat and chatted. It filled up quickly - if you have a big group get there early.

Yelp
What the whaaaaaat - this pizza slayed me slice by oozing slice. It was pizza of the TMNT variety - thin, floppy, saucy, cheesy, and utterly life affirming. Traditional with a capital T, from the Italian service to the proper pizza oven rituals, it's a super humble and almost sterile restaurant, and it's clear that the focus is on one thing and one thing alone. (Or so I thought, until I tried the ridiculously amazing vanilla panacotta.) Get here quick as it fills up about 15 minutes after opening.

Yelp
Hard to believe that this is some of the best pizza that Sydney has to offer! Fairly mediocre at best, the best thing about it is its location on a quiet street.
google avatar

Randy P.

Yelp
Decent pizza. Neapolitan style which means soft dough and crust. Not my favorite but if you like Neapolitan pizza this is your place. Located in residential area next to 2 or 3 other restaurants. Fun atmosphere. Very kid friendly.

Yelp
Convenient Darlinghurst location and opens onto large square with a few other restaurants. Good for noise as the chatter doesn't bounce off the walls but disperses outside. Tartafurta (sic) is great- proscitutto, mushrooms and truffle oil and so is the sausage, rosemary and potato pizza. No BYO but the wine is quite cheap. Messina is also a short walk away.

Yelp
Probably one of the best pizza in Sydney. We've ordered from them quite a lot of times And we've always been satisfied with the quality of the ingredients they use. Their pizzas try to respect the real tradition even if sometimes the pizza base is a bit high. Anyway usually they have a very good quality pizza and the price is average in Sydney.

Yelp
Plain looking, no frills or decor at all really... Lots of white, nice-enough-but-stiff seating. Even their wine glasses are ugly. But who cares when the food is the #1 priority and this place absolutely nails it. They're too busy cooking really good stuff to have to bother about the looks. Thin yet cushy dough pizza that 2 fresh-from-small-town Italy friends have attested is the best pizza they've had in Australia. Menu is one page, showing that they are experts at a few really good dishes. Place is always packed for a reason, despite being a little hidden away on a very random, quiet street in Darlinghurst.

Marce M.

Yelp
We enjoy this pizza! One of the best I have ever tried... the dough was really thin and delicious and the service extraordinary.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot for pizza in Sydney: authentic Italian crust, fast service, reasonable prices, definitely a winner for some nice pizza comfort Not exactly ideal if you're planning to spend 3 hours though: you can't book and there's always a queue at the door after 7 pm, which makes it hard to sit back and relax once you've finished eating I still give it a 5 out of 5 because the food is so beautiful

Yelp
So the family was craving pizza half way across the world on our vacation. Long story short...One of the best pizza joints I've been too. The family ordered the Bufalina and the 4 Formaggi. Classic Naples thin crust - delicious. It was so good we had to order a pizza to go. We had the tiramisu to top it off with some drinks to finish off a great meal. Service was great. I would go there early since it's not a big place and it did get packed pretty quick. This is the place to go for pizza in Sydney.

Samar S.

Yelp
One of the best pizzas I've ever had. We got the bufolina. It was cooked perfectly with fresh ingredients. The bread is so soft and has the best flavor. Very small restaurant located on a residential street. Most of the tables are indoors but we were seated on one of the four tables inside. I would definitely recommended sitting outside as it gets a bit warm with the pizza oven.

Yelp
Best pizza place EVER!!! We had the capricossa and the lucio calzone amazing ! I love how the place us completely run by Italians cooking wood fire pizza, serving italian beer and great hospitality love it love it love - def coming back!

Yelp
My favourite pizza in Sydney! The meatballs are exactly like nonnas home made. The calamari also a must. Best pizza is the tartufata

Yelp
I loved this place! Interior would have been a bit crowded without outdoor seating option, but in the summer on a nice evening, outdoor table was perfect . The guy who took our names on a busy Saturday night was really nice and definitely on the ball- people were seated promptly and he was running food and taking orders. The service were efficient, attentive and perfectly timed without being imposing. My husband and I ordered a salad, a bottle of wine (all bottles very reasonably priced), the Bufala pizza and the ricotta e spinaci calzone. We told them they were sharing and, again, the pizza and calzone were perfectly timed and delicious. The calzone especially was probably one of the best I've had- the crust was crispy but not over-dry or hard to cut, and every item had the right proportion of cheese, sauce and dough. For dessert we had the Nutella bombolone- DELICIOUS! Will definitely be trying this at home.

Yelp
Lucio might just become one of the gourmet pizza champs in Darlinghurst. Ingredients in the thickly crusted, floppy Lucio signature pizza ($20) tasted fresh and delicious. For value though, I'm still digging the $10 cracker-crust garlic pizza at Hugo's in Woolloomooloo or the amazing, ultra gourmet pumpkin pizza at romantic Puntino Trattoria nearby, just on the other side of William street.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza, you must try the Siciliana pizza. Good service, they don't take bookings. I have waited 1 hour for a table but there is a nice pub called the darlo you can down a nice cocktail while waiting. ;)

Yelp
One of my favourite pizza places in Sydney! Bufalina is by far my favourite with excellent buffalo mozzarella, a tangy but sweet tomato base and fresh basil. The pizza base is chewy but soft and crunchy, really perfect all round. Truly Italian pizza in Sydney. To top it off you can sit outside in the courtyard. Absolutely recommend!

Yelp
This was back in summer. After hearing about it somewhere that it was one of the best pizza places in Sydney, I wanted to come try it and so I did with my friend. After walking around, I finally found the right place and knowing it was first come first served, we were lucky to get a table after a few minutes. The weather was warm and cool so getting a seat outside was good as there was a light breeze. The waiter was quite friendly and good at suggesting and explaining what was on the menu. After looking at the menu, we got the Flori di Zucchini and Lucio, the signature pizza of Lucio Pizzeria. It is half a Margherita and half calzone and when it came, it was great. The taste of the pizza here was unbelievable, much better than anything I have ever tried at that time. I think describing the taste of the pizza is quite hard and so you need to come try it for yourself to see. This is a great place to go to for their pizzas and I think it is certainly one of the best pizza places in Sydney.

Yelp
I've been to most of Sydney's hyped pizza places: Lucio's, Mario's, Via Napoli, La Disfida and Rosso Pommodoro. In my opinion Lucio's is the best! The woodfired crust is fluffy, but with just enough bite to the dough. It is delicious enough to eat on its own, but add the fresh and simple toppings offered at Lucio's and you have a sumptuous feast. Personally I am a big fan of the calzone pizze at Lucio's. Folded over pizza packed with flavour inside. Try the eponymous 'Lucio' (half calzone, half normal) at the eponymous 'Lucio' pizzeria, named after the owner, Lucio De Falco. Service is also fantastic.

Yelp
This place is really good. We live two minutes away, but walking by on a weekend you'll see crowds of people waiting outside for a table. We came on a weeknight, no wait but still full house. I believe it's only opened for dinner? Full Italian experience. We shared the antipasto plate, with cheese, melon and prosiutto, olives, bread, etc. Had a margharita pizza and a rocket salad on the size. Reasonable pricing (about $20-something for a pizza -- filling and yummy). Would definitely return if in a pizza mood!

Yelp
I was very excited to eat at Lucio, since it had a five star yelp rating, which you don't see very often. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The pizza itself was...fine. It was floppy, which some folks say is traditional-- but that's just not for me. Some parts were cool, like it hadn't been cooked evenly. It really wasn't bad at all, but when a place has a five star yelp rating, I expect to be blown away. The service was miserable. When we first arrived, I wove my way to the front to request a table (they were full). A waiter snapped at me and said "What do you want?" Um...a table. For two. Please. He nodded, then shooed me away to wait. Ok... Eventually, a table came available. It took about ten minutes for someone to bring us water and take our order. We ordered two pizzas, and since we were sharing, the waiter said he'd bring them one at a time so they stayed hot. I appreciated that, and it made sense. SO, our first pizza came. It was, as described, fine. Then...we waited. And waited. And waited. Someone came to take our plates, but we explained we were still waiting on another pizza. Our waiter was talking to another table of people he clearly knew well, his back to us, for about fifteen minutes before vanishing entirely. Finally, almost thirty minutes later, our second pizza arrived. We finished the second, and it was time to get the check. We waited another thirty minutes for that. I was quite sincerely considering walking out without paying the bill entirely (we only had a little cash on us, so we would have shorted them about $10)-- I mean NO ONE would give us a second glance so we could flag someone over to pay, and after getting snapped at for walking toward the front when we arrived, I didn't want to do that again. Finally, we got a check, and got the hell out of there. Food was okay, but not great, service was terrible. I can't recommend Lucio, sorry to say.

Yelp
Amazing pizza in Sydney! If you are looking for the real Italian pizza, this is the place. We ordered a Margherita and a Bufalina, they were both great. As a dessert a tiramisu to share... A positive surprise as usually it's hard to find such good tiramisu outside of Italy! Great service as well, I can't find a bad comment. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Went back to Lucio's and had the Calzone, since last time I was pretty convinced by the calzone half of the Lucio pizza. Well I am happy to say that it wasn't a fluke, the calzones are truly great: perfect dough, great tasting ham, ricotta that has a nice taste ... nothing to add !
google avatar

Gertrude X.

Yelp
Possibly the best pizzas in Sydney. Also: gorgeous Italian waiters who address you as 'signorina'. Swoon. Come here early if you don't want to queue. Best flavours are the marinara, the margherita and the calzone.
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
This was the best pizza I've had in Australia and pretty much anywhere. The tiramisu was awesome also.

Yelp
I am so glad we tried this place. So thankful for previous reviews. Truly a GEM with the best thin crust pizza I have ever had with real Italian speaking staff!

Yelp
My hubby and I stopped in here after doing some research on yelp for some delicious pizza. It was a nice walk from our hotel. This place is tucked in off the street with about three other restaurants all with open seating. We sat on the front patio which was lovely since it was a very warm night. Started off with a radicchio salad. This was fantastic. Had walnuts, fresh creamy blue cheese and a balsamic reduction sauce. Next up were our pizzas. I opted for the buffalina (added some mushrooms) and the hubs got a margherita. Both were great. Dough was soft yet had a slight crunch and the cheese was creamy. I preferred my hubby's since he had more sauce but I'm a sauce freak lol. The wait staff was friendly and our waiter was patient. Thanks Lucios! You made us Americans feel right at home.

Suzy E.

Yelp
Good food, great service. Wait staff was excellent, you could tell they really care about their customers. When an extra dessert was accidentally brought over, they said - keep it on the house, our mistake. And that was an awesome tiramisu!

C J.

Yelp
Best pizza I've ever had, and I've traveled to Italy. Warm, gracious host and servers (and cooks) from various cities of Italy provided an amazing Neapolitan-style pizza -- top quality, fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced sauce -- with superb crust. The radicchio salad with walnuts and Gorgonzola is a delicious start and large enough to share. Even the fruity olive oil in the salad was a stand out. I'll definitely return.
google avatar

Elyse T.

Yelp
AMAZING! I've been to Italy (and South Philly;) and I've never had a better calzone. The Lucio was so good...half margarita pizza half calzone; highly recommended. Not much diversity on the menu but definitely an upscale pizza/Italian place. The owner is hands-on and very great. Would come back for sure!

Steve O.

Yelp
Great pizza, one of the best in Sydney. The ambiance of the courtyard is nice too, and if it is too busy there is always take out from Phamish.

Amar D.

Yelp
Classic Neapolitan style pizza. Nice chewy crust, right about of charring, good quality toppings. Small but good wine list - had the Salento which was excellent. Friendly service, good vibe.
