Had enjoyed the wonderful dinner with- White wine, oysters, lobster, fish soup, mussels, and grilled seafood platter ! In memory of Dolly dog, we brought a puppy to travel with us to comfort our broken heart a little bit! It encountered the waiter told me he likes dog more than people! The thing is the people who love dog would be the nice people!

I went to Lucius Restaurant recently and it was outstanding! The concierge at The Pulitzer Hotel said it was his favorite seafood venue in Amsterdam. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Immaculately clean and beautifully decorated with an amazing salt water fish tank built into the wall, the venue is relaxing and welcoming. The menu is extensive and offers a variety of fresh fish and shellfish. The gracious host offered advice to help me narrow my choices to only three items for this visit. I enjoyed a half dozen clams followed by the lobster bisque and finally a fish entree. Each course was perfectly prepared and presented. I accompanied my meal with a sparkling white from the Netherlands which was excellent. Hats off to Lucius Restaurant! I can’t wait to go again.

At first we went to the other famous restaurant nearby, but it fully booked, the manager said they also go here to buy fish, so recommend us to eat here. The bread with butter excellent, following dishes is amazing. Would say better than other hot seafood places. Very tidy and clean place, cute beautiful fish tank.

If you are a seafood lover, come here! Although the Irish oysters were average, the lobster bisque was above average and then the grilled fish was so over the top good, that I give Lucius a 5 star rating. The tuna , salmon , prawns and baby sole were perfectly prepared to be tender and delicious without the aid of any sauce necessary. I highly recommend Lucius, especially for the fish.

Super friendly service. Came here for late lunch. Seafood was excellent. Happy with lobster bisque and tuna sandwich. Brand of the Still water is soo good, extra point.

The food was phenomenal, refreshing and the kitchen looked spotless. Well curated seafood menu. I ordered the oyster florentine, raw oysters, the scallops and the octopus with chorizo. It paired very well with champagne. The servers need a bit of refinement but nonetheless it was a positive experience.

We had the scallops and tuna, and both were incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. The staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which made the experience even better. It’s a great spot for a relaxed and charming date night. We were able to get same-day reservations, but it was a Monday in December, so it might be busier during peak times. Recommend

I wanted a nice seafood restaurant for dinner when I was in Amsterdam recently, so I asked my Uber driver for a recommendation. He recommended LUCIUS, and let me tell you, he was spot on. Traveling alone, I prefer to sit at the bar and enjoy a nice meal as I'm a little self-conscious when eating alone. My waiter was Nick who was super response and provided excellent service and advice. He also engaged in pleasant conversation and made a point of making my meal memorable. From the appetizer, to the main meal, to dessert, LUCIUS was fantastic! The quality of the Sole (3 pieces) was fantastic, the roasted potatoes and salad were both amazing. Even the ice cream for dessert was tasty and properly portioned. I had a Pomegranate Martini to start, and with dinner, a lovely French Burgundy which cost 7 Euros. That's $10.00! Nick also made a nice nip of tequila, cranberry, and lime. The food, service, cost, wine, dessert were all amazing. The employees care that much. When you're traveling alone for two weeks, a nice dinner at the end of the day makes all the difference in the world.

Yelp
Quality of the food: excellent. We selected locally sourced halibut and salmon. Halibut had a hearty sauce, adding a bit more flavor to a robust selection. Salmon was, predictably, bland - but a perfect cut. Lemon/salt/pepper helped (ok with "less is more" with a dish like salmon). Both mains grilled to perfection. Had a tiny side salad and steamed/sautéed veggies of the day (asparagus, bells, onions). Would order the veggies again - they were a nice compliment. Attractive wine list, though we did not participate. Neighbors selected deserts which looked inviting, but we opted for gelato elsewhere. Water service fast and perfect temp. Nice 'n' clean. Overall service was better than attentive. They offered coat service, which we appreciated. Fantastic alternative to similarly priced / locally sourced seafood restaurants, though not as over the top as some. It is really about the food and getting the patrons fed a proper meal, while paying attention to detail. Our interface emanated an owner / operator vibe. Regardless, a committed staff. We were served and satisfied in an hour (at around 6pm), but they were welcoming while we lingered and planned what was next for a few minutes. Bravo!

Yelp
Lucius has to be the most consistent restaurant I have ever experienced, I have been dining here annually during a trade show since 2000 and it's always amazing. The house specialty Dove Sole is my go to dish and it never disappoints. If you are looking for an outstanding seafood restaurant in Amsterdam this is the place!

Yelp
Could have been four but the assistant manager dropped the ball. We were greeted warmly and received attentive service. Bread was served straight from the oven. Warm and aromatic. We chose to bypass the appetizers in favor of going straight straight to the entrée. My spouse and I ordered the salmon and the tuna. Both dishes were served almost as soon as the bread was cool enough to touch, could have used a little more time to just enjoy the bread before the entrée was served. But the fish was perfectly cooked, vegetables, and sauce, and presentation all worked well for a lovely meal. We were then offered dessert and we ordered the cheese plate which we shared, along with a coffee and tea. This is where our meal fell apart. It took a while for the cheese to come to the table. I had already finished half of my coffee (and the bread being served with the cheese had been brought with the coffee and tea) before the cheese finally arrived. we finished our food, our tea and coffee, and waited. And waited. And watched the assistant manager who was our food server attend to the couple who had arrived after we arrived. I think I can say with confidence that they were regular customers as he stood and talked with them for quite a while when we first arrived, when we were already beginning to eat our meal. They were talking very loudly, and it was difficult for us to hear one another speak, but the conversation ended and we were able to enjoy a conversation over the rest of our meal. Another couple sitting at another table also arrived after us and then another. The second and fourth customers were attended to repeatedly while we tried to get the man's eye so we could have our check and get our coats back. He repeatedly ignored us, to the point that we had to ask another person to help us because we had an appointment following the dinner and we were beginning to run late while we waited and waited and waited. Nikki, the person who helped us, was very gracious, apologized unnecessarily because she was not the one who had ignored us for nearly 20 minutes. She brought us our check, which we paid immediately, and went to fetch our coats. She returned with one coat, which was not even one of our coats, And we waited some more while she tried to find our coats. We watched as our former server the wrong coat and give it to the second couple that had arrived after us. I'm also going to point out that the couple had that now had their coat also received their check while they were still eating their dessert. Meanwhile, even go over there to help her find our coats today Nikki was still trying to find our coats. We weee thevfirst customers of the night. I don't know why our coats were so hard to find. Nikki was eventually able to find our coats with my spouse's help, and we left the restaurant, satisfied with the food and drastically disappointed in the service. For all we know, if it hadn't been for Nikki, we would still be sitting in the restaurant, waiting for our check, hoping we would eventually receive our coats. We have multiple friends and family that live in and around Amsterdam, and we try to find new restaurants and places that they can enjoy. This is not a restaurant we will recommend to anyone until they can get these things sorted out. The food was not so outstanding that we can overlook the rude service at the end. Five stars to Nikki!

The ambiance and decor was great. Food brought it over the top. So good! Well done! We enjoyed our evening immensely.

Yelp
We haven't been in amsterdam for three years- Covid sucks but we all know that. Delighted that this place survived the travel bans- we are here at least once a year and we always eat here. Lots of great places to eat in this town but this is a top choice for us. We both love fish and I really love raw oysters and they do both really well. Lots of choices on the menu and I have never had one that wasn't great.Solid cocktails, excellent wine list, and an added treat is way above average bread- I always ask for extra butter. The service is professional but not stuffy and very good. So yes, love this place however, it's LOUD, fine for the two of us but we included a dear friend and he wasn't having a good time. He wanted to actually have a conversation and this isn't the place - I find it comfortable but consider your audience. Part of the problem is the huge IBC conference- the Lords of Tech treat their teams with dinners out and techies appear to lack inside voices so big tables of guys yelling at each other does raise the noise level. Bottom line - come for the food, service and save quiet conversations for other venues.

Yelp
Great Resturant and very attentive service. Reservations highly recommend. We needed to book the day before. Selected this restaurant based on hotel (NH Barbizon Palace) concierge, Daniel and Yelp recommendations. Small, yet still room to get around. About 15 feet wide. Well appointed, seafood theme with crisp white walls and tile. Aquarium was fun and a nice touch. We started by sharing the tiger prawns placed over a bed of sautéed shallots and garlic. For the main course my wife had the Baby Soles based on a table side conversation with the couple next to us and I had the Cod with a sesame pandan cream, curry ginger, black garlic and red pepper (nothing spicy). Both were delicious. We should have stopped there....but didn't. Several dessert options and we settled on the Dame Blanche. Exceptionally creamy vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate and razor thin almonds. It was fantastic. While we only had wine by the glass, the wine list allowed for a nice selection. Great place, not far from museum square, Dam Square and an easy walk from the Central Station area.

Yelp
Here is the 3-1-1: Food: Couldn't get in on a Saturday night without a reservation as it was super busy so went the next night and was able to get seated.... glad we returned! Started off with the razor clams and smoked salmon appetizers and the portion was big enough to call it a meal. The clams were sauté in a garlic olive oil and was full of flavor and plenty of clams! The smoked salmon was refreshing as it was served on a pillowy pancake and a side of crème fraiche. For the entrees we had a variety of fish; one was a mixed of grilled fish and the other was a mix of poached fish. Both dishes had plenty of fish with the poached served over a very buttery silky bed of mash potato which was enough for 4 people and the grilled selection included a butterflied flounder and large chunks of ahi tuna, salmon and halibut.... both plates were a seafood feast! Service: Very friendly staff and attentive and the dishes were timed perfectly. Ambiance: Very nautical décor, bright and cozy feel. Clean and upscale with a casual flow.

Saved the best for last night. Absolutely delicious food. Lovely ambience. Friendly and prompt servers.

Yelp
This was another one of the real standout meals of my recent 2-week trip through London, Amsterdam, and Paris. Located right behind our hotel, I was curious to try Lucius and really craving some seafood after nearly a week of heavy British food. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table for an early dinner. The restaurant was bright, clean and modern in appearance--things I like to see in a seafood-focused eatery. We ordered a bottle of wine and my sweetie decided to try the three-course special of the evening: a seafood ravioli appetizer, sea bass with a tomato-basil salsa, and peach melba. I had to get the razor and small clam starter off the menu, and the seafood bourride. My clams were excellent, served with copious slivered onions and just enough red chiles to give it a touch of heat. Sweetie's ravioli was decadently delightful, with oozing egg yolk mixing with the oil, lemon and herbs for a wonderfully rich bite. I loved the hearty bourride, which was very different from fish soups and stews I was used to and very filling. He declared his sea bass filet perfectly cooked, with a nice crisp sear on the skin. Our entrees were served with a pickled vegetable radish and excellent fries (which I just had to dip into the flavorful broth and mashed potatoes in my stew.) We shared his dessert, which was a perfect end to the meal. Truly everything we had was spot on and I couldn't have asked for anything better. I would love to go back and try more of their menu in the future...or just have those razor clams again...!

Yelp
Just happened upon this gem. Susan, who greeted us made us feel right at home. Everyone was very welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel special. We ordered some drinks and the Plateau Crustaces. We really enjoyed the food and the ambience here. Great place to get away from the tourist trap restaurants because the staff here do an amazing job with the food, presentation and service!

Yelp
Reason for the 1 star review: Customer service was HORRIBLE!! Food: 4.5 Service: 0 This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at the hotel we were staying at. They kindly made reservations for us before we walked over. We were seated immediately upon arriving and that's where the horrible service started. Our server (didn't get her name) kind of reminded me of Abby from NCIS, dark hair and tattoos. She handed us menus and proceeded to shout at us as if we were idiots or did not speak English (which we obviously did). When I asked what kind of fish was in their fish soup she replied "FISH!!" I asked what kind of fish and she shouted back "all kinds of fish, they are all ground up so you won't be able to tell the difference!" Then I asked what she would recommend for a dish like a house specialty. She shouted back with an annoyed face "Everything here is made in house, IN this restaurant!" We should have just got up and left at this point but decided to look at the menu on our own. We asked what each of the main dishes were served with since it was not listed in the menu. She stated salad and French fries except for the dorado which was served with red potato. We asked if the French fries could be substituted for the red potatoes and she said yes. My mom placed her order and at the time I was still deciding. When I had finally made my decision I asked to substitute the French fries with my dish too she sarcastically snapped "I get it you want red potatoes!" When our food arrived , we got French fries. Not sure about that, but she did take it back and have the red potatoes sent to our table. She never showed her face at our table after that. We saw the same server treating the locals with a way better attitude. Food: The fish soup and mixed grill were both very delicious! Too bad about the service.

Yelp
Looking for a good seafood restaurant in Amsterdam? This is the place to go. The restaurant features a wide selection of fresh seafood selections with specializations on cold bar seafood platters for sharing, oysters, herring, and fish filets. Price point is a bit high, but it is worthwhile due to the quality, service, and the ambiance of the restaurant. A little disappointed with the drink selections, but the food was delicious. This restaurant is located conveniently a few blocks away from the central square. Most of the seating is located indoors with 1-2 seats located on front the restaurant. If you are looking for outside seating, this will not be the best place. The inside has a nice modern ambiance which is cozy yet not too jammed. Really cool tropical fish tank which lines the wall. Temperature was a little warm inside however it got cooler when the crowd thinned out. In terms of drinks selection, they have a multitude of wine selections, however, only have 1 beer available - Warsteiner Beer in bottle form. This would be my primary complaint with this restaurant as I would have expected more beer selections available. Understood on the focus of wines, but there's should be at least a couple of beer selections available. For appetizers, we ordered the oysters, lobster bisque, and the herring. All three where very good. The herring was exceptional - extremely fresh and the balance of fresh onion and pickles was a perfect pairing. I will miss this dish. The oysters was a mix from France and Ireland - all were extremely fresh and have a great briny flavor profile. Lastly the lobster bisque was very good - could have used some more chunks of lobster but overall great flavor. For the main entree, we ordered the New Zealand mussels and the grilled prawns. The mussels were extremely fresh and the sauce was very good - very light and allowed the mussels to shine. The mussels came with French fries which were nice. The prawns were nicely prepared and you can tell they were fresh as well. Almost wish they had a steamed option for the prawns based on how fresh they were. Overall a very pleasant experience here. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
While the food was good, our waiter mistakenly spilled a glass of red wine in my wife's lap ruining her white pants. The waiter apologized, but the manager never responded nor did they offer to anything to make up for this. I assume this poor treatment was because we are tourists. We were very disappointed and do not recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Food was marginal at best! Waiter had an attitude from the moment we sat down. The appetizer cheese and scallops were excellent but our experience went down hill from there. The tuna would have been nice but it was over cooked as was the shrimp scampi. The scampi was so over cooked that the shell had to be picked off into small pieces. Most of the staff was very nice but our waiter had a bad day and gave us a horrible experience!

Yelp
Wonderful, non-touristy, seafood restaurant in Amsterdam a short walk from Dam Square. Recommended by our hotel concierge, which made me wary. But, we were very happy we went. I had the catch of the day, Halibut filet. I received a sizable portion cooked to perfection with a handful of tiny shrimp for added flavor in an outstanding buttery hollandaise sauce. The halibut was, itself, fresh and seasoned just right. My wife had prawns sautéed with garlic, a little onion, and a scattering of thin, fresh, hot pepper slices. NOTE: this was NOT a spicy "hot" dish. She loved the shrimp. Note: we didn't have reservations but were accommodated on the basis of being done by 7:30. Since we were seated at 6, this was not a problem. If you want to have dinner here, you SHOULD reservate. We returned 2 days later having been disappointed by a competitor seafood restaurant (reviewed separately). This time I tried the fish soup, without croutons since I am gluten sensitive. I also skipped the cheese on top. It is served with something they called rouille. Seemed to be seasoned butter intended to be added to the soup. GREAT STUFF! Also great on bread. Don't let them remove it when you finish the soup. Plus, my wife and I shared a large portion of those wonderful prawns. A perfect seafood dinner. I must comment on the PERFECT service provided by ALL personnel at this restaurant. They genuinely understand "gluten free" and even GAVE me a beautiful, hot, crunchy crust personal loaf of GF bread.

Yelp
Hubby and I chose this place for dinner and whilst it was very busy and the service was fairly decent, it just wasn't our thing. We ordered a seafood tower, and yes it was very, very different from what we would order in America. I am not saying that one is better than the other but if you're expecting cooked and then chilled shellfish with all the usual accompaniments like you'd find at a US steakhouse, this is NOT the place. Most of the shellfish we'd never seen before let alone heard of. Like the troopers we are though, we tried everything. We ordered a small assortment and there was too much on the tray. I hate wasting food, especially protein but I just couldn't stomach some of the raw snails. I had the salmon for my main course - it came with a hollandaise type sauce. It was excellent quality but a little undercooked for my taste. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance. Lots of locals. No problem walking in without a reservation.

Yelp
The freshest seafood and attentive service. Reserve a seat next to the aquarium Bonus, the kitchen is open until midnight.
google avatar

Yelp
Not that great experience in a very tourist neighborhood. Expect this place to fit in well - average food at high prices. This is where business people take their customers for an expensive treat - it's just not that good. Find better fish specialties elsewhere around.

Yelp
Amazing seafood here. The plateaus are definitely worth trying, super fresh and it includes everything like oyster, lobster, crab, shrimp, clams, and more I can't even name. We got one that's two people's portion and it was definitely very filling. It gets very busy so make sure to make reservations beforehand, walk ins will be hard to get a seat, and show up on time because your spot will be given away if you don't!
google avatar

Yelp
Came in after a long flight. Few options were still open, and the local concierge recommended us to come here. It was still busy at 10:50pm! Took a while to get service after we sat down, but the service was good after our order was taken. We just went with the set menu, each of us took the halves of the three-course meal. Everything was good: the squash soup and the octopus for starters, the sea bass and the pan-fried cod for the main course, as well as the pavlova and the watermelon desserts. I just wish things were a little faster, and there was more water available. By the way, tap water should be safe to drink. A good place to start our European tour.

Yelp
Good sea food, I will recommend this place if you like sea food, people is very friendly,,,

Yelp
So glad I found this place. Amazing food and great service. Do yourself a favor and order the warm chocolate cake for desert. Heaven. Place is small and busy so make a reservation.

Yelp
A good place for seafood and shellfish. Busy but quiet; mostly older crowd. Friendly crew and good service. We tried the mixed grilled fish; halibut, salmon and shrimp as a main course. For starters we tried the clams and cold assortments of shellfish which contained crab legs, lobster, mother of shrimp, and shrimps.. All were delicious. The place is a bit on the pricy side but worth the visit. Enjoy

Yelp
Off the beaten path and a wonderful surprise! The food was good - the soup was incredible! - and wine is reasonable. Our server was super nice and made good recommendations based on what we said we liked. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Went there with our two little kids (3 & 6 yo). I wouldn't say they cater to young families like ours, but it seemed to work. Our waiter was great (has 2 kids similar ages) and got us something quickly for the kids while we took our time. All the food was exceptional- the sole was amazing and our kids couldn't stop eating it. A very light sweet fish. We also loved the herring. And the chocolate molten dessert was our favorite dessert during our 7 day trip!

Yelp
You can feel the hype that seems to prop up this temple of fish at the edge of the 9 Streets shopping district. The location--between Dam Square and swanky shopping, is prime. The menu and service isn't fussy, but this is still fine dining. It is menu fixated and obsessed with fresh fish. Those looking for much beyond the sea--even side dishes--will be disappointed. We skipped, for instance, on what sounded like a host of afterthought deserts and opted instead for coffee and stroopwafels in a nearby cafe. Pricey and not exactly charming, go to Vicius expecting exceptional food and something of a 'fine dining' experience in a city that adores the casual. You get a dinner that feels a bit stodgy, in a charming way, classic and classy--all not uniquely Amsterdam attributes, but that work wonderfully to showcase the freshest catches on offer at Vicius.

Yelp
Wonderful seafood restaurant right in the center of Amsterdam. Old-school decor with white subway tiles and a fish tank. Waitstaff is lovely, friendly and rather efficient (for Amsterdam!). We shared a few appetizers - local oysters (delicious and large - reminded me of my favorite Gulf oysters I get in New Orleans), mackerel and smoked eel were a revelation. Never high on my list of things to eat, I'm nonetheless an adventurous eater and decided "when in Rome" or Amsterdam, in this case. We were so pleasantly surprised as both dishes were delicious in flavor and simplicity. The mains were great too - fresh swordfish, wild salmon and sole. Good crunch French fries and a nice salad. Definitely go to Lucius if you want wonderful seafood!

Yelp
Better fish house around in Amsterdam. Can not go wrong here but you need to book a RDV as it is a secret not too secret anymore....
google avatar

Ann K.

Yelp
Went to Lucius with my Dutch colleagues. I had the mussels and was a little disappointed. I'd had such good mussels throughout my trip that I expected something fantastic here. They were good but definitely didn't live up to my expectations. My husband had salmon that was good any my colleagues enjoyed there meals. I would definitely go back but my selection will be different next time around. If you want great mussels, and they are in season, go to the small bruin cafe - Cafe Oranjerie in the Jordaan!
google avatar

Tracie W.

Yelp
We were lucky to get a table here and dinner was amazing. Herring, caviar and lobster bisque for appetizers. Halibut, baby sole and Danish prawns for main course. So fresh and delicious. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Marcos K.

Yelp
I can only comment on the service because when I asked to be seated at a table I side the restaurant, I was told they could only seat me outside which I didn't want to do because it was raining. I asked why I couldn't sit at the table inside and I was told that was for four people and I was only one person. I asked if the table was reserved and the waiter told me it wasn't, but it's for four people. Based on the reviews it looks like a great restaurant, but that was rude not to sit me at a table that was open. So, I went to another seafood restaurant, Mr. Crab, to eat dinner.
google avatar

Leeann L.

Yelp
Very nice service, very tasty seafood ( I took oysters 6 pcs -22.5 euros. Mussels as a starter, and black tiger prawn as main dish! Everything is delicious!

Yelp
I thought it was decent. Typical Amsterdam restaurant. Small but cozy. They did a nice job with presentation and food quality. I had the catch of the day which was swordfish with a nice tomato sauce and creamy sauce to mix up and put on top. They added a nice langostino shrimp and a mussel on the plate so everything looked all fancy. However you are surrounded by coffee bars meaning the smell of pot was wafting in throughout dinner. But no big deal.

LOVEMYKIDS L.

Yelp
I would say one of the best if not the best seafood restaurant in Amsterdam. If you plan to go there make sure you have reservation because it is a busy place, and you don't want to miss this opportunity. They will take walk ins but it will either take sometime or may not be accommodated especially for 5 and up people. Food is absolutely great. Crab bisque with cognac, herring, tartar with shiitake mushrooms is a must. One thing they DO NOT know how to cook is seared ahi tuna:) they have no idea what rare means. It was prepared almost fully cooked which tasted like a badly prepared bad old steak:) but I still give 5 ***** because of the variety of the choices and ambiance. Enjoy.

Yelp
This place impressed me beyond measure. I expected some Dutch seafood or fish and I did get that. The quality of the fish was phenomenal. The shrimp was off the charts. The starters were amazing. The oysters were the best I have ever had. I haven't had this much great food in a long time. I ordered like 6 dishes and 6 out of 6 were outstanding. I would give them a 10. Everything had tons of flavor and was very fresh. The baby sole was incredible! Seaweed salad starter was off the charts, the king prawns are a must, the fish soup, the smaller oysters, even the Pinot noir wine I ordered was incredible. Best restaurant in a long long time. I will definitely return when I am back in Amsterdam.

August G.

Yelp
I will not comment on the food of this restaurant. But this restaurant is pretty weird as it charges tap water for a fee without telling customers. Otherwise, I would have chosen a bottled water instead of tap water since they both cost for a fee. And the funniest thing is that the manger is perhaps the most arrogant manager I ever seen. When I recommended politely that they should considering informing the customers that the tap water is also charged for a fee, she said:" maybe you shouldn't assume it is free!" ????? Funniest thing ever and most arrogant service I have ever seen. I would suggest people be cautious not to make any suggestions to the restaurant cuz that is the attitude you will get :)
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service! The fish was perfectly cooked, good size portions. Superb flavors. You must book a table in advance though. Small and cozy space. Clean and inviting. Probably the best meal we had in Amsterdam and we had great meals. Unpretentious food and service! Loved it.

Yelp
We came here reccomended by Pulitzer Hotel concierge. The food, atmosphere and service were wonderful. Black and white tiled floors and walls with a gorgeous salt water fish tank. Busy and upbeat vibe. The waiter gave us great suggestions, white asparagus is in season so we had a side AND soup. Both fabulous-seafood was super fresh

M. Clem W.

Yelp
This was probably the best meal we've had out in Amsterdam. We started with the grilled octopus with sweet peppers and tzatziki which was outstanding. I had the dinner version of tiger prawns in garlic butter which we messy to eat but oh so good. My wife had gazpacho with chopped cucumber, onion, anchovies?, and red bell peppers which she could add. Her main course was a red snapper in a coconut curry sauce with a little bit of Thai cole slaw on top which she said was excellent. We shared their sides which were French fries and a salad with radish, red bell pepper, and cucumber in a dressing. Desert was a grilled pineapple with honey, vanilla bean ice cream and creme fraiche. We made reservations to return before we left

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel concierge when we asked him about reserving a table at John Dory, a more popular restaurant. He was right on! Lucius is more low-key but so good! We sat inside (quite warm in the summer, so come prepared), and we had great attentive service by the staff. I had the mixed grill, and it was the envy of everyone at my table. I am allergic to shrimp so the kitchen had no problems in making a substitution by adding more fish instead. I'm glad that we got to experience this place on our last night in Amsterdam -- a great meal to cap off our trip!

Yelp
Superb food, comfortable ambience, attentive service. Extensive seafood menu including super fresh local fish. Try the Fish Soup - really a treat. And the sautéed whole baby sole, expertly de-boned by the waiter. Other customers were locals, not tourists, a very good sign. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Our hotel recommended and we arrived at 6 with no reservation on a a Sunday eve. We were seated immediately but saw many turned away later in the evening. Service was professional and attentive enough. We started with herring and the fish soup. Rouille was delicious in the soup and my husband loved the herring with the small glass of gin. Bread was also good. I had the grilled king prawns - 9 huge prawns in a light garlic and olive oil with some onions and tiny red peppers. Peppers were mildly spicy but sauce was not. DH had the fish of the day: pike perch , local from the canal, broiled with some sort of fish cake and a beetroot sauce squiggled on the plate. Fries and salad to share were the side dishes. All was delicious and well cooked and hot! Iles flottante and chocolate mousse for dessert topped off a delicious dinner. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to find this place by chance the first time and multiple trips to Amsterdam later, we always make this a must do on our list. The food is simple but prepared in way that brings out the essence of the ingredients. The decor is likewise simple but elegant. This restaurant has been around a long time and it is easy to see why- we have had consistently good meals here. Also-check out the amazing live coral salt water aquarium they have here!

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner at Lucius. The herring appetizer was delicious. The turbot in hollandaise was done well, with the fish being especially well-cooked.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant near the centre of town, with good and rather efficient waiters, and delicious food. Good sized portions, and has a nice atmosphere. I strongly recommend you reserve as early as possible, as it is a very busy place...
