What a great place. Was walk in for dinner. Busy but accommodating. Great service and food was amazing. Flavoursome and good portions etc Compact menu but good variety, definitely go back and check out rest of menu and rooftop bar. Bao bun selection wa amazing.

Lucky Chan's is another hidden restaurant / bar in Perth. Funky entrance and really vibrant, busy decor. The food is delicious and came out quickly. Opens late and offers the smaller menu after 8pm which is rare in Perth! Service was good, we didn't get the check out the rooftop. The dumplings were divine and the range of fun bao buns are good too. Finished it all off with awesome fried ice-cream 🍦

We loved the exotic food and the entire atmosphere. Really beautiful place and excellent service. Highly recommended!

Went to Lucky Chans for the first time recently and it was an incredible experience for sure. The food and dessert were delicious and came out quick. The croquettes were our highlight— can eat about 50 of those 🤤 The alcoholic bubble teas were not that good. The staff were professional and looked after us well. The atmosphere was noisy as it was quite busy, but the ambience and vibe made it worth while. Will definitely be visiting again!

Cute Asian fusion restaurant with such cool vibes, enjoyed the laundromat decor. Service was pretty good too. Impressed by the various veg options, I really liked the pulled jackfruit dumplings :)

Guys, the new restaurant menu is amazing, I tried 03 dishes and I loved them all, well presented, tasty food, everything was perfect! The only point that needs improvement is: I spent many minutes (about 20 minutes) at the door waiting for the staff to meet us at the door. I believe you need an exclusive person just for this service, to reduce the waiting time at the restaurant door.

I was told that this place had amazing food and vibe. I'm questioning why there's so much hype about this restaurant/rooftop bar. The decor is fun and quirky, however the food is overpriced and tasted mediocre. The get in my belly noodle bowl lacked flavour. The wok fried rice cakes were bland. The toilets are on the bottom level, so if you're on the rooftop bar, you have to walk down a couple flights of stairs. Overall it wasn't an unpleasant experience, just a disappointing and expensive one for what was served.

Google
This place has so much potential, with all the different themed rooms & areas it could become a great multi purpose venue . The staff were really cool & you see the effort they have put into the interior design. I personally think if the menu had more fresh options instead of the deep fried stuff, then it would take this place the next level. Overall it was a good place to go for something a little different to the norm✌️

Yelp
Went along to Lucky Chan's this week for lunch and managed to score a table on the rooftop - this is certainly one of the great attractions of Northbridge - good views, plenty of shade from the extendable sails - and attentive waiters to take the orders and hand out the food and drink. A dish of dumplings was the chosen starter - a moist and luscious mince of scallop and fish, with a little chopped corn, served as a gyoza style dumpling - for me the usual pan browning had taken a tad too long and the dumpling skin was somewhat tough - but you could not fault the filling - or the spicy dipping sauce that came with it. Onto the mains and since ramen is their thing Chan's Koi Pond caught the eye - a big bowl of slippery egg noodles, crisp bean shoots, tender squid rings, soft boiled eggs, firm and juicy prawns chopped red chilli, seaweed and spring onions in an earthy vegetable broth - attractively presented, full of fine complementary flavours - the chilli fairly mild, but luckily we had called for additional when we ordered so a little more zing was available. My only issue was the listed ingredient laksa tare - with tare being a dipping sauce an expectation that there would be some laksa flavours around was raised - but sadly no. Notwithstanding that the bowl was enjoyable, the noodles well cooked and the flavours and textures coming together pretty well. With the food we had a bottle of 2016 Dominique Portet Yarra Valley Fontaine rosè - a crisp and elegant Provence style wine - pale pink, with lifted strawberry aromas leading into a savoury and juicy palate - a good food wine, but we thought they were stretching the friendship a little at $62.50 a bottle. Lucky Chan's is an interesting spot - the fit out is unusual, the rooftop bar outstanding - the food pretty good and well-priced - the wine list perhaps not quite so price friendly - but well worth a visit, especially if you get up on the roof.

Yelp
This was our second time to Lucky Chans. I had a craving for noodles and decided to check out their Ramen bowl. When you enter into the reception area of the restaurant it feels like your in a laundry with clothes hanging from the ceiling! when the doors open inside is a vibrant industrial style restaurant with a very casual laid back feel where you can sit at the bar and eat with a cocktail or sit at tables on the ground floor. We were seated a few tables up from the door and it was so cold, every time the door opened a cold breeze blew in. We kept our jackets on throughout our meal. To start we ordered the lotus crisps and the Chermoula spring rolls. These consisted of spiced eggplant and chickpea purée wrapped in wonton wrappers and deep fried. They were really crisp and the filling was nicely spiced, the lotus crisps were a delight, crispy and salty, nice start to the meal. I ordered Chans chilli chipotle Ramen. I like it hot so ordered some extra chilli on top. When the bowl came out I felt it could have been warmer the meat stock was very tasty but lukewarm. Personally I didn't like the pork belly as it was quite fatty but the vegetables were all well cooked at tasty. I couldn't finish my bowl as the noodles are very filling. Overall this restaurant is good value for money. I love the casual approach that it is striving for, just arrive at the door no pre booking and wait for a table we waited for 20 minutes which flew by as you can look at the menu whilst you wait. The staff were very efficient and your food comes out pretty quick. I also love how you don't need to get dressed up!! If your looking for tasty speedy food at a good price Lucky Chans is the place to go. If your going in winter bring your winter woollies!!

Yelp
I love the funky decor and hip atmoshpere. The theme is a Chinatown drycleaners. There are some drycleaners at the front entrance. On the walls are some huge pictures of drycleaner robits then a wall of ironing boards! There are three floors. The building is long and narrow. The top floor has an open air section, which I think would be great to go with a group of friends. The music selection was fantastic. The menu was clear about what options were gluten free and or vegetarian. There is a gluten free option for the ramen noodles! The food was asian fusian style. I liked the quirky ideas. I had the cheeky ramen which was a little spicy with chunks of beef, noodles, seaweed, bok choy and a slice of tomato. The presentation was amazing and looked like ramen served in my favourite ramen shop in Tokyo. They had great attention to detail. The wait staff were very attentive and I was impressed by how fast they cleared the table. I think they have high standards of service.

Yelp
Went to Lucky Chans last night. We were highly disappointed. We both ordered the pork broth ramen. The Pork Ramen broth had no flavour at all and lacked basic seasoning like salt. It tasted like water that noodles had been boiled in. The noodles were overcooked for a ramen and had no taste due to the lack of soup flavour. The pork piece was soft but in a huge slab so very hard to eat when everything else is in mouth size. My wife could not finish it. I forced my way through as I was hungry after work. We spoke to the lady when paying and was told they would let the chef know. Who knows if anything will come of it or if he tastes the food he serves. We both agree that in our 13 years together this was the worst meal out we have ever had.

Yelp
So I had heard about this place from a few vegan friends that raved about it and decided I needed to see what all the fuss was about. Now I get it. Lucky Chan's does not disappoint! They have tons of amazing vegan options, and I was going, "mmmm!" at every bite. From the wasabi peas to the spicy cauliflower bao to the roast pumpkin curry dumplings (my fav!) to the ramen and then dessert - omg, everything was so good! I will definitely be back again and again and have recommended already to heaps of people. Thank you for providing animal-free food, we vegans and veggies sincerely appreciate it! :) The place looks really cool and the restaurant is crowd-funded (awesome!) so apparently you can ay to put your name on chairs and things in the restaurant. Very cool vibe in there, nice little bar, awesome old school early 2000s and 90s music playing. Love the feel of the place - especiallythe laundry hanging in the front! The only reason I am not giving five stars is because the women's bathroom smelled really bad. :( I was able to overlook that because of how amazing the food was, but I really hope that was just a bad night or something. It wasn't enough to stop me from going back, but still not a good look. However, I will go a second time and if the bathrooms are clean I will be tevising my rating to 5 stars! :)

Yelp
This place is so great! Located in the trendy suburb of Northbridge, Lucky Chan's exterior is of a dingy looking laundrette, but head inside and you'll discover a dive bar-esque Japanese restaurant. I love love love everything about the interior - it's dark, moody but cosy and fun. You can sit at the bar but we opted for a side table close to the kitchen, where you can easily watch the chefs whip up your lunch. On the roof you will find endless polaroids of previous customers proudly showing off their empty bowls - the reward for finishing the Godzilla Bowl of ramen. We started with some prawn crackers covered in curry salt - they were sooooo salty but so delicious and at only $2 for a big bowl, was an absolute bargain. You simply must get some. For mains I went with the Cheeky Ramen (pork with spicy red miso, broccolini and sweet tomato) while my friend went for the Karaage Kid (karaage chicken, shiitake, 62 degree egg and nori.) Mine was VERY spicy but absolutely delicious and was the perfect size! I often end up drowning in ramen and am left in the foetal position on the floor a half hour after I've finished eating - but not this time. Bravo Lucky Chan! Beers are a mix of local Australian and Japanese but cocktails and sake are also available. But the coolest thing about Lucky Chan's? It is a one of few crowd-funded restaurants - check their website to make your own contribution!

Yelp
Lucky Chan stands out. From the bright red colours and huge pop art, you'd find it hard not to be attracted or at least a little bit curious about it. Upon entering the premise, I was greeted with the playful quirkiness of washing machines packed with laundry before being greeted by an energetic and friendly waiter. The main eating area isn't particularly large however there are 3 floors in case times get busy. One gripe that I have however is that the tables have been positioned in a way that it's rather difficult to enter/exit the seats that are against the wall. I ordered the cheeky ramen with a side of spiced tamarind chicken wings. I was given a choice of spiciness for the ramen from levels 1-10...was feeling kind of adventurous so opted for 10. The chicken wings were only satisfactory in all honesty as the meat itself was rather lacking in taste. The seasoning itself was ok but it certainly looked tastier than what it actually was. The entree comes with 4 Big pieces of chicken. The ramen noodles was a decent serving however I was left rather underwhelmed by the lack of flavour. Even though I ordered the spiciness level of 10, it was quite mild compared to what I was expecting. With an impressive bar, unique decor and darkened lighting, Lucky Chan felt like it's suited more for its casual social atmosphere than for its culinary offerings.

Yelp
Headed here on a busy Saturday night before a gig to grab a quick bite to eat. We were very lucky to snag a table with about 15 people waiting out on the sidewalk. The waitress was super friendly and did a great job at making recommendations. We started with the Duck Dumplings with coconut curry sauce and Lucky Chan's famous bubble tea cocktail, which did not disappoint. Followed by the Karaage Kid Ramen and the Pulled chicken and prawn noodles, we could of shared one as the portion sizes were very large. All in all I would recommend checking this place out, it's very trendy, great food and they were pumping an excellent variety of 90s tunes

Yelp
Yum. This huge venue feels like a tiny intimate place with all the petitioning (upstairs at least) and a speak easy with its entry through a laundry (the door literally has a washing machine front). The cocktail list is to die for with Asian influenced twists on classics, alcoholic bubble tea and a cool sake menu. The good is AWESOME. We had the pumpkin dumplings (yum), curry ramen (double yum) and the cheese wontons (holy crap I just died and went to heaven) with a concubines Cosmo, which tasted like an apple starburst. Service was attentive and friendly- the food did meander out, but we were told that's the deal from the word go, so the hot, fresh tasty food was worth the expected wait. I'll definitely be coming back for more cocktails and nibbles!

Yelp
My first visit to lucky chans was great but the second visit was average, we were off to a fringe show and came in an hour and a half earlier to have dinner. We ordered straight away and it took over 50minutes for any food to be served to us while we sat next to a table that ordered after us and were constantly eating and reordering food. When the food finally came out we only had 10 minutes to eat before we had to leave for the show and we were starving, the street prawns, popcorn chicken and pad thai were great but the gluggy bunch of noodles in the cheeky ramen was a let down.

Yelp
Went here a few weeks ago for dinner with some friends. Have always wanted to go here and I wasn't disappointed. After saying I haven't had a good bao bun yet my friend said I'd love the ones from here and he was correct. I only had 2 chicken bao buns (could've easily have eaten 3) which were pretty decent in size and the bao itself was light and fluffy and the crunch of the chicken and the sauce was just on point. I now know where to go in Perth for a decent bao bun - I know that there are a few out there now but this still remains my choice for now ;) Also had a little try of the "cheeky ramen" which had a good spicy flavour too.

Yelp
I finally got around to checking Lucky Chan's out on the weekend. It's a great use of space, with the tiny old laundry being turned into a three-story bar and restaurant. It's a bar more than anything else, a bar that sells great food, but you have to order food to order a drink here. We headed there for lunch and it wasn't too busy, which was great. We snagged a table on the top balcony level, though our table was undercover. The drinks list was pretty impressive, but I was feeling under the weather and I was driving, so I just had a juice. My friend who was pregnant got a lychee bubble-tea, which I instantly regretted not getting after seeing hers. We started with some prawn crackers, dusted in hot spices and served with aioli. These are great, so you need 1 bowl per two people. I had the chicken ramen which was only ok. The real star of the show was the chicken bao - deep-fried battered chicken in a light cloud-like bun with lots of spicy social sauce. A great place to head for drinks with friends and get some food while you're at it.

Yelp
After months of waiting I finally had a chance to go to Lucky Chans and use my Get Lucky voucher that I purchased while they were crowd funding. We waited in the freezing cold for 50 mins as you can't book tables.... that's the reason for only giving 4 stars. Once in we were taken to the roof top, I love the way they have the noodlebar set up. The service was great and luckily the food doesn't take long to come out as were starving after the wait. We could only order Ramen dishes with the voucher, I'm not a fan of Ramen and am still not but it tasted ok. The dessert though was amazing! There's only 2 desserts and we tried both....... so good! Over all we enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to heading back to try the Pork Belly as it sounds delish! And the music was spot on too, made for an enjoyable night.

Yelp
Came again after a night out and again very pleased that the place is open so late. The food was on point again, the beef ribs were frikken fantastic. And a larger portion size than my previous visit. However the only thing I didn't like was the fact they won't let you take your leftovers. We had over ordered and unfortunately had to leave it. Kind of ridiculous.

Yelp
One of the most hyped up restaurant leading to its opening. Being Asians ourselves we always love to go around trying new Asian fusion restaurants but this was a total disappointment. Don't get me wrong the fit out was excellent, the front entrance and the 3 floors has different styles. The one thing I didn't like was the roof top, the tables were in weird spots, the flow is really weird as you don't know whether to sit or stand. If you have 4 or more people it's just awkward to sit in. Now the food! Some of the bow was good like the satay chicken but the rest of pretty average. Chicken wing has no taste, and the pandan sticky rice it's not even sticky ! The ramen was pretty average as well, although the noodles was made fresh in house. So 4 of us spend 165 dollars , with one beverage each. Just a overhyped place won't come back again.
google avatar

Iain W.

Yelp
The fit out is great! Real cool ambience how they have it setup with the "false front" and the "back room". You don't feel like you are in a restaurant in Perth. It's very urban and low light. It's tight tables so good opportunity to make some friends, we did! I like the two upstairs levels and I'm excited to try them out sometime. I also like the windows into the kitchen where you can see what looks to be full 140 liter stock pots on massive burners (30cm hole for the flame) and the chefs working. Four of us were there from 12:30-2:00 am after comedy night at the Brisbane. Our vegetarian friend had the umami ramen (vegetarian) which we all loved especially her! My gf and I had the tonkatso ramen Godzilla size with 2 extra eggs and extra noodles and another friend has the Danny special. I thought the Danny special was especially tasty! The tonkatso ramen was rich and creamy. They have heat from a scale of 1-20 and I ordered the 12 for mine. Either I'm desensitized to chili or it wasn't that hot but I didn't taste any heat in it. If you like chilli I recommend you go much harder. A chilli head friend says that he finds the 20 mild and so they add special hot sauce for him. After I let the waiter know that it wasn't that hot he very kindly added a few drops of daves 2am. That turned it up!! I'd like to see some surimi in the ramen because it's fun ( the white and pink spiral things) We had the whitebait and lotus seeds with the wasabi mayo and we tore through that in no time. It was a rush between friends to get as much goodness of that as we could! We didn't try the cocktails as we were trying to wind down (menu looked delicious though) so we had sake, came out nice and warm with little cups. It was a nice addition. The hostess/server recommended well. The things they can work on is communication between staff. One server seemed to be doing fine but another server would undermine her and almost verify what she did while apologizing. She did catch her up on one thing which was availability of sunflower seeds which was corrected pro gratis. (First server said they had none, second said they might and checked). They didn't write down the order and items had to be reordered a couple times to get them. My gf was a server/hostess before grad school and was a bit irritated at having to follow up and repeat orders. So suggestion is they either digitally or paper take down orders. Another is availability of items on the menu. Even with the reduced night menu, they were out of bao again (like the noodle markets). I think the bao one is one of their more solid options and was disappointing not to have that. I didn't see the homemade Kim chi bao on the menu that they had at the Chinese New Year festival and I'm hoping that makes a comeback. There was something else on the menu they didn't have that we ordered as well. Oh well. Overall I was very happy with the experience and I'll be back especially for late night feeds. It may supplant our usual spots since decent healthy dining in perth shuts down at 8-9 pm and after late night touch rugby or yoga I need something of substance!

Yelp
Yum yum yum! This is how I can explain this cool place. You walk in and think you are in a laundry with the washing machines and clothes lines. The restaurant is split over many different floors, each boasting its own funky interior design. We sat on the roof top and lapped up the cool breeze at 10pm. I tried the fried pigs ears with lime mayonnaise and the karate kid noodles. The noodles were a hue portion and very tasty, with many different ingredients and flavours. The wait staff were attentive and fast.

Ed S.

Yelp
Edited to add: our server and the manager on duty figured out we weren't happy and did a stellar job of making things better, so I revised my rating upwards accordingly. -------- I really wanted to like this place. It's got a clever concept, looks stylish inside, the menu sounds tasty, presentation of the food was good and service was friendly and efficient. The rooftop dining area was colorful and nice, too. Great atmosphere. But ... our food was average at best, and that's being generous. If you're coming from a city that takes ramen seriously like San Francisco or NYC like we do, the flat, relatively tasteless (but large) bowl of chili ramen disappointed with thin, bland broth with similarly bland accoutrements. This was not a one off error as my girlfriends' ramen had the same characteristics. It's not cheap, either.

Yelp
The food is flavourful and fresh. I ate the chicken bow which was devine, strongly recommend you get this one.

Yelp
It's not a laundromat. Lucky Chan's is a well-hidden, tri-level, late night restaurant that has taken Asian dining in Perth to another level, (or three). You'll find it on William Street, Northbridge, if you don't look hard, you'll easily miss it. Washing machines fill the windows, so thinking of a Chinese laundry instead of a Chinese restaurant will help you navigate your way to the entrance. Apparently, people were trying to drop laundry off before it opened; it's all part of its quirky, offbeat charm. The first level is simple. Almost canteen style dining, with a long bar with seats. For me, this is my 'go to' space. The second level is booths and allows a bit more intimacy. The third rooftop space is a fantastic small bar with separate tables and booths dotted around the terrace. Every area within the venue gives you a level of privacy, but also makes you feel like you're part of a bigger picture. It's a great vibe, whether you're there for lunch or eating at 3am. Perth needs lots more late night options and Lucky Chan's is doing it, and doing it well. Each evening the place is filled with foodies, boozers and hospitality folk, it caters to everyone. I try to order something different every time, but I do have my favourites. Any of the Boa Wow will always hit the spot, and the Pig's Ears are delicious. Lucky Chan's is praised for its dumplings, Fernet Branca shots, ramen, and chilli sauces. Order all the dumplings and add spicy Sriracha sauce on the side. When you order your ramen, you're asked which level of spiciness you'd like. Get it spicy, somewhere in the range of 10 to 13 on their spiciness scale. Unless you're a massive chilli buff don't dial it up to 20. I've seen many people struggle through, but it's a big effort and not for the faint hearted. The ramen servings are a good size. 'The Danny', which is pork based, is great. Red broth with beautiful pork mince and buttered corn. The noodles, which are made on the premises, are soft and lengthy and bring the dishes together. The veggie option 'Unami Monster' is just as good as 'The Danny'. On top of the food, it's the staff's love for what they're doing that keeps bringing me back. Their service, knowledge, and desire to create a great venue really comes through everything they do.

Yelp
My man and I had been showing interstate friends a few venues across Perth for a couple hours. By 7pm, it was time to halt the booze and have some something substantial (i.e. solid!). Miraculously, there was no line outside Lucky Chan's on this Monday night and only one other couple waiting inside. We quickly got a table downstairs, decided our drinks (how could I resist Lychee Mojito Bubble Tea $19?!), and ordered lemon salt prawn crackers as we poured over the menu. The hungriest folk ordered ramen bowls, while I chose to sample multiple items, grabbing the maple cauliflower bao and pumpkin & cashew dumplings with Penang coconut sauce. Our table also ordered beef liquorice buns and popcorn chicken out of curiosity and insurance against hunger. The vibe at Lucky Chan's is great - multiple floors, a quirky, eccentric fit out with photos on the ceiling and restrooms with giant, industrial style basins. You also get a good view of the kitchen, and I've always appreciated the accountability that offers! Our food arrived in stages but was well paced. Our waiter was great, checking in for drink top ups often without being overbearing. I was a bit nervous when my $19 drink arrived in plastic with a plastic lid (the straw stabbing kind), but the mint was fresh and the lychees were lovely! My maple cauliflower bao was a little disappointing - I tasted tart, fermented vegetables rather than the rich maple filling I'd imagined. On the other extreme, my dumplings were pumpkin packed and when dunked in thick coconut sauce, didn't have the contrast in texture or flavour I was craving. I would've asked for lime or chilli sauce but was too darn hungry! Both dishes were good - they just didn't have the punch I'd hoped for. Full credit for quality ingredients though. As a vegetarian, I didn't sample any of the other food our table had but everyone was happy. The bill was exactly $199 for the four of us - great value given the boys had two beers each and the girls had a cocktail each. Our visitors commented what a cool vibe Lucky Chan's has and I agree. I'll definitely head back with my partner or a small group - it'll be spicy items for me next time and the vegan ramen has my name all over it!

Yelp
Settings in this restaurant is amazing ! Very original and cozy. The food is okay but not the best ramen I had. But the "Waitress" was clearly the worst. It is okay not to be passionate about your job but this one was clearly living her worst life !!

Yelp
Lucky Chan's is awesome! The food and atmosphere is delicious and fun. Their Karaage Chicken Bao Taco's (?) and alcoholic bubble teas are sooo good. The only problem is that they are always so crazy busy so the restuarant is usually packed. It can be a little cramped for more than two people per party, but entirely worth it. The food trucks they do at some festivals are always worth a visit too!

Yelp
I was a donator in the Lucky Chan's crowd-funding campaign (I have a stair!), and am a big fan of the work that the Classroom Bar and Cocktail Gastronomy do, so I was super keen to hit Lucky Chan's when it opened. The fit-out is grungey-Asian-cool, with tables spread across three floors. We got the middle floor, which is definitely the poor cousin of both the bottom floor with views of the bar, and top floor with it's rooftop cool, wall of fame and bar. I had two free ramen as part of my crowd-funding pledge, but needed a few entrees in my life. The miso-lamb bao had the perfect fluffy white mantou bun, the filling meaty and flavoursome with the umami miso perfectly balanced with it's pickled extras. It's worth noting, they're also a fairly large bao - given I'm not the hugest eater in the world, you'd probably only need 4 or so to have a full meal. They have 3 varieties on the menu. The seafood dumplings were tiny morsels of deliciousness - the seafood flavour strong, so maybe avoid if you're not the biggest fan of fishy things, the black pastry from the squid ink a fun little visual addition. They were well formed and easy to eat - unlike some dumplings that fall apart when the pastry sticks to your chop-stick and the filling falls out on the table on the way to your plate. The entrees are definitely the stand-outs For ramen, we tried the signature "Danny Ramen" with pork mince and buttered corn and the Shoyu with chicken and a 62 degree egg. The Shoyu was better - the broth was somehow tastier, the combination of textures and flavours more harmonious. We chose to not ramp the heat level up, for our first time (and we will be back), we wanted to just enjoy the base taste, but I love a chilli kick and can see this will definitely improve the ramen. Dessert wise, the options are small but fun. Jackfruit wontons with red rice pudding and coconut ice cream was the stand-out for me. But needs to be eaten quickly for the wontons to stay crispy. The coconut ice cream tasted more coconut flavoured ice cream, rather than ice cream made with coconut cream, but this didn't detract from the dish at all. Just an observation. The chocolate cake was dense and too much for the end of what turned out to be a filling meal - but that was our fault. The mousse and sorbet were very welcome additions to freshen up the denseness. Drinks-wise, there's a few off-centre beers and wine and some fun and different cocktails - the soy caramel old fashioned was too sweet for an old fashioned drinker, but quite a quirky standalone cocktail. But overall, great atmosphere, great fit-out, decent food. Will definitely be heading back, hopefully walking over my stair to the upstairs bar next time!

Yelp
Pretty good. Opens from 5pm - late. Got the Godzilla bowl (Lady Chan) & man it was huge. Says that it double the regular size but it feeds three. I got the Coca-Cola bao & it was delicious.

Yelp
The food was SUPER delish! Service from staff was great. However - our dish took so long to come out and we received so many plates of prawn crackers and popcorn while waiting that we weren't hungry by the time it finally arrived. And then we couldn't even doggy bag it - so I wasted a huge delicious meal! Very disappointing wait time considering the bottom floor was barely full. Apart from that, was really great :)

Yelp
If you are not Asian and want to eat "westernised" Asian food then this place is just ok A bit pricey for the ambience... A restaurant can get away with basic rustic decor if the food is absolutely fantastic but I think this place misses the mark Go to a real Chinese restaurant and Pay half the price for a truly delicious truly Asian food experience Not going back there again ... Funky decor doesn't make the food taste better

Yelp
All style - No substance! (Vegetarians and Vegan's be very cautious.) I have to preface this review with a note that I hate negative reviews. I always want to think the best and give people a second shot but my experience here was simply awful. The fitout is very cool and we loved the view on the rooftop but that was where the good things ended. There was confusion and tension between the seating manger and the wait staff. We were seated in a corner on the rooftop then 15 mins passed without our waiter or menus returning. The tables are so close together it was difficult to get out and hail someone but one of our party of 4 did so and we were given 2 menus to share. Again we were left alone, eventually another table was seated near us, when their waiter returned to place their drinks order we hailed that waiter so we could order, we made sure to order our drinks and food immediately incase they didn't return. One of our group is vegan, we checked before choosing the restaurant - the website stated 'vegan friendly'. He made it very clear to the waiter and asked for his advice on what could be ordered. The waiter did not now and stated that this was his first Vegan customer. He went to check with the kitchen amd came back with the vegetarian ramen with gluten free noodles. My friend wad happy with this and placed the order. One wine arrived but our other drinks failed to arrive until we hailed another waiter again. The beef shin gyoza was nice as were the vegetarian bao, mushrooms and pork belly. The ramen arrived together, we had ordered a pork one as well as the vegan one. They pork one was not really to my tastes but we were hungry after waiting an hour. My vegan friend one looked ok with the gluten free noodles and tofu on top. However, my friend was horrified when he started to find what looked like pork mince half way through the dish which had settled in the bottom of the bowl. He immediately stopped eating and looked ill and I hailed our waiter again to question what it was that my friend had been served. He took the dish to check in better light and returned looking very embarrassed and nervous. He appolgised - we had been served the wrong dish. He had spoken to his manager and the dish would be removed from the bill he asked how he could make it better, he also checked if there was a food allergy related to this (there wasnt but its not really the point). I asked to cancel our fogotten order of beer and food which had yet to appear and have the bill. We paid the ammended bill and left promptly. This debacle ruined our dinner and traumatized my friend. I believe that the kitchen didn't take my friends order seriously - what if it had been an allergy? The manager should have come and addressed us directly - I might then believe that changes and training may be instituted. I write this having run a restaurant myself, my chef husband was also in attendance. We always try to give the benefit of the doubt and I know that the restaurant only opened this month but the focus seems to have been on the look and not the food or service. They have major faults that need to be addressed! We will not be returning.

Yelp
I'm struggling to decide between 2 stars & 3 stars for this review, but I'm going to err on the side of less, to compensate for the number of rave reviews this venue is gonna get from the more hip reviewers... Great gimmicks, & a marketing mastermind clearly, from the same crew that brought you The Classroom in North Perth. When you can successfully crowdfund a food venue before people have even tasted the flavours coming out from your kitchen, you know that you're doing something right that is definitely not cooking. The decor of the venue is quite genius, with a facade of an old Chinese laundromat, & the feeling of a hidden gambling den kinda vibe when you walk past the fake washing machines & enter the dining area. Makes you feel like you're in on a little secret, which is perfect for the current generation of hip foodies, a fast growing target market that unfortunately seems to be driving fancier restaurants with fancier prices, where the actual quality of food seems to take second priority. Inside, the furnishings, as well as the attention to detail along the wall & ceilings definitely add to that authentic Asian food vibe, but that's probably about as far as the authenticity goes. Sure, they've got deep fried pigs ear on their starter menu, but along prawn crackers with chilli powder & mayonnaise, you get a sense that they're definitely not catering to an authentic audience. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though it can almost come across like black face for chinks. We had the famous Bow Chicka Wow as well as the chef's choice ramen, & yeah the food is pretty alright, nothing that I would crave though. If I really wanted ramen, there are easily half a dozen other places I can think off that are cheaper & tastier. You pay for the ambience here. You pay bar food prices for what is essentially one of the fanciest bar foods around at the moment, because really, Lucky Chan's is just a bar more than it is actually a noodlebar. Lucky Chan's is probably a bit more of a noodlebar than it is a laundry, but it is definitely first & foremost a bar that also serves food. As a bar, this review would've probably got 4 or even perhaps 5 stars, but for a place that calls itself a Laundry + Noodlebar, to me that's false advertising. The drinks look fancy, & served in a bubble tea cup? Again, marketing at it's finest. Come for the drinks, but dine somewhere else. The music playlist was spot on though. 4 stars for the music.

Yelp
I've been here a few times for different things - from Sunday rooftop cocktails and a few fried pigs ears to a Friday night ramen dinner. The space is super cool - you have to pass a false launderette entrance to get through to their insane three floor fit-out. It's definitely a funky space with lots going on. Most of the stars here go to the cocktails - which are pretty dope. I especially liked their Raisin' the Monk and their supa-fine Japanese whiskey collection. But you would expect that from the sibling bar to The Classroom. The ramen, however, was massively disappointing. It was super oily and the flavour wasn't great. My date ordered a different ramen - and it was the same. I still recommend this place for a drink or ten, with some ok snacks, but there are plenty more value-for-money places in Northbridge, and nearby Chinatown, for dinner.

Yelp
Don't listen to the bad reviews on this place. If you get a chance to eat here, DO IT! The food is amazing and the staff are wonderful.

Yelp
Really impressed with Lucky Chan's. Didn't even realise they had a rooftop but it's really cool. Cocktails were original and tasty with nice presentation. The beef dumplings were incredible! And the chicken bao chicka wow (great name) was so yummy a few of us ordered seconds. My friends got the prawn dumplings, lamb bao chicka wow and pork salad and everyone was happy. The ramen looked and smelled tasty and also seemed to please. Service was good, though one of the wait staff seemed to know little about the dishes. Will be back.

Yelp
I love the vibe you get when you first walk into lucky chans, the front reception part is cool and bit retro with dry tumblers and clothes hanging everywhere, which behind the door is this bright but dimmed lights industrial look seating area with the bar. Upstairs was closed due to the weather conditions so the wait at the door was a little while longer than what i had been told from a friend who previously has been. It didnt seem like ages but the wait was worth it. The food came quickly and the service was very prompt. We went with another couple who also was their first time. For starters we ordered, lotus chips, spring rolls & the pop corn chicken. All was very tasty, the lotus chips were very crisp and had a nice seasoning of salt to them, they kinda taste like the packets of french fries. My partner had the spring rolls, they came out in 3's. He said they were really good nice and crispy with a good flavour of spice but very filling he only ate 2. We didnt try any of the pop corn chicken however it looked exactly how it sounds. Was a big enough bowl of it as well. For mains we had the bao buns, mexi chan, beef rendang and the boom boom chicken ones, they all were very nice and full of flavour, i probably preferred the mexi chan one the best. My friends had a ramen bowl and it was HUGE, they shared it together. Said it could have been a bit warmer, only because outside was freezing and raining, the broth was lukewarm which sometimes isnt the nicest. However said they would still order it again. I wouls certainly come back again and try a ramen bowl next time myself, however i think they is some room for improvement, it was very busy last night and i felt we were kinda rushed which i dont like when im going out for dinner. I understand it was so busy and the table turn around times etc.. but with food coming straight away drinks coming straight away and then the clean up was even quicker it was just a bit rushed for my liking. Overall it was a good night and lovely food. We will be back (hopefully wont be as busy)

Yelp
I had been wanting to visit Lucky Chan's ever since I had heard it was on the scene. My first visit was about a month ago for a friends birthday. The food, service, music and atmosphere were all blended together incredibly well. We went on a week night, but it was still quite busy and we were seated on the second level. However, i didn't mind this as it became a small private dining area. My friend and I shared most of the food which was all amazing - i honestly can't wait to go back to try some more. the sweet potato dumplings were a definite hit!

Yelp
I love the roof top at Lucky Chan's! I love the food and I love the drinks! What a fabulous place! Because of the 3 story situation, service can be a little slow but the staff are friendly and I've never had a bad experience! The boa are my favourite!

Yelp
Tonight we were in Northbridge and were looking for something tasty to eat. Our usual haunt Darlings was closed so we headed on over to Lucky Chan's to check it out. Woah were we surprise. We were met by rows of washing machines then lead into a cosy bar area further out the back. We stayed on the first level but I'm told there are three levels, a mezzanine then an outdoor area upstairs that looks over the city. The whole place had a very backstreets-Hong Kong type feel which suited the place really well. The dumplings were great, we had both the prawn and snapper dumplings and the sticky pork dumplings. Keen for more food we ordered the 'Godzilla' ramen which, whilst tasty, didn't hit the spot quite like the dumplings did. They had some nice beer on tap and the sake was very agreeable! All in all it was a great first experience and I'll definitely be back in the near future.

Yelp
It a very trendy, very cool spot. The food is decently priced and the serving is plenty! I came here late on a Friday night and the place was far from closing it's doors. There was music, laughing and plenty of slurping of noodles. The menu has something for everyone. The bao are delicious and the ramen is great too. Love the wooden spoon that comes with it more than anything. Who is Lucky Chan? Who know's but he's picked a very good spot to serve some great dishes. Desserts were a little of a let down. Nothing special and very simple. Flavours seemed all a little too creamy and lacked a lot of structure and texture. The upper floor looks like a great function space, and then you walk up another level and WOW! Gorgeous for a summer night and so well utilised it's a winner in my books!

Yelp
Best meal in a Laundry Ever! So we headed on down here a while back but I never got around to writing about the experience so here goes. I actually pledged for this on Pozible late last year and totally forgot about my pre paid meal. Actually getting this turned out to be an adventure (not the good kind) but that is a different story. We were told no bookings here, even if you already paid for your meal months in advance so there we were, waiting in line outside a laundry, or so it looked to all the amused onlookers walking by shaking their heads wondering why there was people all dressed up to go wash their clothes. My pledge entitled us to 2 ramen dishes, 2 cocktails and a shared desert. Our friend had to pay for his own on the night but had no complaints. We went with the crispy pig ears and chicken wings to start between us. These dishes are both definite winners and come highly recommended. Amongst us for mains we ordered the Shoyu Ramen (chicken), Danny Ramen (minced pork), Charsui Pork with king prawns with a side of mushrooms (these were also delicious) and we finished this off with a dessert selection of chocolate cake with raspberry sorbet. All of the dishes were pretty much spot on with the entrees and mains being standouts. The ramen was okay but we have had better at other establishments around Perth. For drinks we tried the Lychee Mojito Bubble Tea (very refreshing), Espresso martini (always a favourite) and the Soy Caramel Old Fashioned (strong as expected). Overall it was a decent experience but there was a few issues with claiming the pledge, made to waiting outside whilst other people were brought in past us and being initially put on a table for 2 even though there was three of us (considering we had already paid for our meal). Food and drinks were on point in general and with three levels on offer with even roof top drinks and dining this place shows a lot of promise but it looks like they were still ironing out a few kinks. Could be back in future once the hype has settled a little to avoid lining up so long outside a laundry.

Yelp
Arigato Lucky Chan!. Pledged during it's crowdfunding phase and Lucky's awesomely honoured the lapsed voucher.Be aware this is a fusion resto and westernized. That said, it's fun, food better than I expected and good tunes. Good for late night eats or a fun night out. Does not fulfill the Dian Asian Index and for more authentic broths I do recommend Ramen warrior. A surprise 3.5 Get ready to queue as no reservations. However, doesn't take long at all. We had hungry eyes. For starters; had the boom boom chicken, pimento and cream cheese wontons and popcorn chicken . All tasty and satisfying. Vegan starters definitely available as well. For mains, had the Chan's Chow Down: chicken broth, oyster shoyu with decent nori speckled egg noodles. The broth was clear and tasted good. My dinner partner had the Chan's Chilli Chipotle which sadly only comes in a pork broth. Spicy!. Service was efficient. Recommendations: maybe smaller portion options, a selection of kombucha or even sakura or yuzu tea. Return factor : possible, music was good, fun and convivial. Check it out if you are not fussed with ramen authenticity and just want a fun night out.

Yelp
Fantastic venue, great attention to detail. Cocktails are delicious, the food is fantastic, good portions and very well priced! Everything we ordered from share plates to the ramen noodles was delicious, I can't wait to go back to try more of what is on the menu! Special shout out to the bao buns which were the highlight of our dining experience and the super hot chicken wings!

Yelp
LOVED this place! Friendly staff, funky atmosphere and what a fab well priced menu! Knackered by the time I reached the top of the 3 flights of stairs (thanks to the waiter who lapped me twice!) but well worth it when you see the view and the décor up there. Very thankful for the GF options also.

Yelp
Finally got to try lucky chans and was so happy I did! We had the pork baos, the beef dumplings and the satay pork stir fry. While the food wasn't perfect everything was still really tasty. The decor or the restaurant is really funky but it's pretty small so definitely get down early on busy nights!

Yelp
Okay it's not bad but the ramen is not traditional and not enough of a next lev twist to be next lev good

Yelp
I probably won't be able to write a particularly lengthy review of this place, even though I really liked it. I'll probably just cover the main points The ramen is very good, the guys know how to cook a noodle and there was considerable "bitey-ness" of the noodle itself, no noticeable sogginess. The soup used an excellent broth, one that can be slurped even without condiments, which is always a testament to a good soup. There was no MSG head-rush, and no after effects, this always a mighty big positive for me! Pretty good drinks menu, it was nice to see a couple of beers you don't find too often. Atmosphere was great when it was packed out, though may be considered by some to be hipster-ish, which could put some people off. However, I would disagree with that verdict, for these reasons: -The staff were attentive, happy and welcoming, not hipster-ish at all. -There is no sense of hipster-ish exploitation in prices. There is plenty of substance over style in this place, as the food is most definitely good enough for the price you pay, which is really not that expensive. All in all, a good spot, and considering that this ramen shop would be the easiest to find parking for in the city, I would consider this my first stop for ramen-style noodles.

Yelp
I've only been here once in the past for dinner and I remember only the good things about this place and their food. There's almost always a queue on Friday and weekend nights which goes to show that they are doing the right things. This goes for their friendly service, decent food, great bar, and an inviting, casual and very trendy setting they have put together. During this visit, we had an early dinner and were shown to the rooftop sitting which I thought was in a fantastic location- with an almost panoramic view of the city! The service we received was on point - regularly checked upon by the wait staff who had great knowledge about the food they serve. We ordered the Sesame soy chicken dumplings, and Pork Shao Mai dumplings which each came with 4 serves, the Boom Boom chicken bao and the Char-sui pork bao, as well as the Granny Chan's Chicken Ramen. The baos arrived first, then quite awhile later the dumplings and the ramen arrived. It was a shame that the wait in between the food was quite delayed therefore, we felt that the whole flow that could have continued on with the course was broken. The baos were great as always, but I do feel that $10 and over for a single bao is quite expensive. Another thing was we felt that since our last visit, the portions have considerably reduced, however it has been awhile since our last visit so I am not 100% sure. On the plus side, the food was not salty - especially the ramen unlike our last visit where the ramen was on the salty side, which was great! Overall, Lucky Chan's a great casual dining place with a character and great drinks! There's a bar on the ground floor, another one on the roof-top, staff are friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is very relaxed for a night out with mates for drinks or/and bites- as they are open until very late!

Yelp
If youre looking for whitewashed asian food that cost a bit more for its stylish decor, then this is the spot for you. Good for the ambiance and interior but not so much for its average food and high price. I prefer many other authentic asian choices in northbridge that cost cheaper

Yelp
Lychee Mojito Bubble Tea! You had me at hello!!! That is the reason I keep going back to Lucky Chan's. We started our girls from work night out at Lucky Chan's with the chicken bao, prawn dumplings and chicken wings. We could have joyfully kept going at Lucky Chan's and not moves another inch all night. But that was not the point of the evening. Never have I had a bad food experience here. The service has always been fine. And for people to be willing to line up out the door you know you are onto a winner. After visiting a few times I have now decided that there are only 2 of the 3 levels I like to be seated in, the lower or the roof. Last night we had the misfortune of having to sit on level 2. It has been a run of hot days, so we were really disappointed with the stuffiness and insufficient air conditioning on level 2. I love the quirky entrance that gives no impression of what lays inside and the comment from a couple of the girls was that they would have walked straight past if they had been looking for a restaurant. I'm pretty sure they'd be happy to head back to for another go at the rest of the menu! Thanks LC for an awesome start to a lovely night out!

Yelp
Wow what a cool little place! The line outside just proves how good the food is (and their mojito bubble tea!). We had chicken bao, chicken wings and seafood gyoza. My favourite had to be the bao! I'll definitely be going back but hopefully get to sit up on the roof next time as it's too warm indoors on a summer night!

Yelp
Gave it a second Chan-ce but didn't feel especially lucky when all the waitresses avoided eye contact with our group and wait times became ridiculous. Some of the food was tasty though. Better luck next time!
