How to Explore Ludington, Michigan

"Ludington Bay Brewing is another excellent brewery with a pleasant outdoor patio; I even enjoyed local beers from here while staying lakeside at my rental." - Matthew Kepnes

Google
Very good food! Their fries were amazing and their beer selection did not disappoint. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming! Their cheese for their Mac and cheese is house made and some of their menu items are locally sourced. The plates are large portions and run about $14-$20 a meal. They have a patio that is dog friendly and our service was prompt.

Google
Stopped in for food and beer. Everything thing was amazing. Michigan Cherry Salad add chicken with the house made honey vinaigrette - so delicious! Husband had the Philly Cheesesteak- excellent - generous amount of shaved ribeye. He was very happy. Beer cheese with the pretzels is also made in house - very good. We did 2 - 5 pour flights. Very impressed with the beer. Our server was very attentive and offered good recommendations. We sat on the patio with our dog. Excellent environment - tables are well spaced which I think is great so the dogs don’t get too crowded.

We enjoyed the rich body and caramel notes of the Paddy's Red Ale and the chocolate tones of the James Street Brown. with a creamy head and nice depth of flavor. Last year, we were lucky to catch them when they were brewing Coconut Brown Ale, our very favorite, which we hope to find on their menu again in the future! We'd recommend the crispy, chewy, salty pretzels with beer cheese. They do a good Michigan Cherry Salad with cherry vinaigrette, and my husband always goes for the standard burger and fries. The fries I stole from his plate were crispy and well-seasoned. Nice wait staff, and the outdoor seating is quieter than indoors if you're looking for that!

Google
Excellent beer and food. Be sure to sample the Coconut Brown ale - wow! It’s the best sipping beer around. Start with the awesome pretzels. Salads are fresh with a variety of greens. Burgers are top level. The servers are friendly and helpful in selecting beers, and the service is great, even when it’s busy. The outside patio and covered dining area is clean and quieter than the inside tables. Enjoy a walk through town afterwards. And get some fresh brews to take home.

Google
The space is nice for indoor and outdoor seating. There is a large menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the spinach & artichoke dip and the brussel sprouts, however we were very disappointed with the loaded fries - it had no taste. The meat in pork tacos was extremely dry. The pizza was very average. They seemed short staffed. It was hard to get a server’s attention. We tried for several hours to call for a reservation and no one answered the phone. It was our first visit to this restaurant and overall we would not come here again.

Google
We experienced a significant delay in receiving our meal. Upon its arrival, the quality of the food was not up to par. Specifically, the wagyu steak, which I requested to be cooked medium, was served rare. Due to my hunger and the server's infrequent presence, I chose to consume it as is. Had the service been more efficient and the food prepared as requested, I would have gladly offered a four-star review.

Martin W.

Google
Crab Rangoon pizza is a must get here. The brussel sprouts with bacon and Michigan cherries are also a tangy and sweet treat. Highly recommended?

Google
Amazing BBQ chicken pizza 😋 great service and incredible atmosphere! It's VERY dog friendly on the patio. Great value for the portion size.

Yelp
I believe this is a fairly new place. We grabbed a spot at the bar. We had a few cocktails. We aren't really beer fans. To start, we had the spinach and artichoke dip which might be the best one I have ever had. It was creamy and delicious with seasoned tortilla chips to dip. We shared the jalapeño burger which wasn't too spicy but had just the right amount of heat. The fried were good too. The service was really good. The bartenders were very attentive. We'll be back next time we are in town.

Yelp
Great place for lunch! Cute patio, excellent service from beginning to end. Made to feel welcome, greeted and seated quickly, had a great server as well that didn't miss a single beat. Burger and side salad were great. Nachos were ok. Decent size portion, priced well, chicken was bland and would be better if cooked longer. Chips were cheap/flavorless, but again, price accordingly.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while exploring the town. The place is very cute and clean. They have a good selection of beer if that's your vibe (not mine, I got a whisky sour and it was good). Our hostess was nice, we were sat quickly (not during a rush). Our waitress did accidentally bring my mom the wrong order, but it was easily corrected! Parking is easy, we did street Definitely on my list to come back when I come to visit the town again

Yelp
Just moved to Michigan from Texas. We drove to this beautiful town with friends. The restaurant had a warm rustic feel .The waitress was very polite abd helpful. She recommended the pizza. Delicious! We asked for jalepenos ...she said they had sweet hot pickled jalepenos .They were very tasty. Nice selection of IPA beers. Will come again!

Yelp
Have been here multiple times now: - make a reservation online! They still might take a while to find you a table when you show up, but they always seem to have people waiting during the summer so a reservation is ideal. - sitting outside is much less loud/noisy. Dogs are allowed there if that's something you're looking for - drinks: wide array of beers and cocktails - food: love the spinach/artichoke dip, Brussels sprouts. Burgers and pizzas are solid options, skip the salads. Service and food is quite slow so don't come here if you're in a rush or be prepared if you have kids. Our appetizer also came out with the food which was unfortunate. Families: They do have high chairs, I didn't see an obvious changing table when I was in the restroom (but only was able to see some of the stalls). Overall a good place to get a burger / have lots of drink options and we will continue to come back.

Yelp
We were so excited to try this restaurant when coming through Luddington off the SS Badger from Wisconsin. We showed up at 8:00 pm (9:00 closing) asked to be seated outside since it was very loud inside. The hostess said she would have to check with the kitchen to see if it was too late to order, what???? Came back and said they could seat us outside. Our waitress was really good. But the other waitress outside gave us dirty looks the whole time. So weird. We were seated at a dirty table, had to ask the waitress to wipe it down. We ordered a BLT, nachos, a Michigan salad, mac and cheese & a side salad for four people. Everything was good. My hubby ordered the Michigan salad and felt it was pretty small. Said it was ok. My nachos were good. I ordered pulled pork instead of chicken and they obliged!! I added guacamole to them. They were yummy! My brother ordered the BLT and loved it, the fries that came with it were a big hit for everyone. My SIL ate every bite of her salad and Mac & cheese. The patio was set up nicely and we liked the beautiful flowers they had planted. The patio is dog friendly!

Yelp
This was genuinely the worst dinner I've ever had, and almost every aspect of the meal was mishandled. From the server assuming I did not want to order beer in a brewery to the food. The crab Rangoon nachos were burnt, missing cream cheese entirely, the green onions were lazily cut into 1-inch chunks, and the crab itself was ice cold, fishy, and tasted like smoked lake trout. Absolutely unacceptable. The pizza was shockingly bad. It was so underbaked the crust was still white, with no browning or rise, as if the dough contained no yeast or was never proofed. I ordered a pizza with arugula and balsamic reduction, yet the kitchen baked the arugula? Until it was burnt on the tips rather than sprinkle it on top when it came out of the oven, then added cold onions on top. There was no balsamic reduction at all. The meal felt careless from start to finish. This is without a doubt the worst meal I have had in a decade. This place needs a serious overhaul in the kitchen, because what I was served should never be served to anyone, ever. The kitchen, server, and management team should be embarrassed.

Yelp
Everything about this place was amazing. Went for the beer. Of course. And had awesome food. We bought a bunch of to go. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Good, Kicking Chicken was amazing!! Added a side of Mac and cheese which was a great compliment. Had a flight to sample 5 beers and then settled on the FirstCurve IPA. 6.8abv.
google avatar

Cameron C.

Yelp
The good was tasty and reasonably priced. The waitress was helpful and friendly. She gave me a tasting (small sample) of the cider i was curious about. I opted for a tasting flight of 5 beers. The atmosphere is that of an active microbrew pub. the fermentation tanks are in a room off to right as you enter. To the left is a very large dining area (big enough for large groups) and the bar.

Yelp
We stopped in to Ludington Bay Brewing for lunch while camping at Buttersville Campground recently. We were seated out on their patio, which is dog-friendly. I got a flight of beer to share with Nate - most were just okay for me. I think the coconut brown was my favorite. For lunch I ordered the turkey wrap, which comes with bagged chips. We also shared the crab rangoon pizza and the kind of a big dill pizza. I'd say it's pretty kid friendly, we had two littles in our party and they offered high chairs, booster seats, and they have a kids menu. Our food didn't take too long to come out. I really liked the wrap with fresh veggies and thickly sliced turkey. The crab rangoon pizza was pretty good but there was quite a bit of oregano on the pizza which is not my favorite. Our server was very sweet and kind! I'd stop in again in the future if in the area.

Yelp
First time in Ludington for work purposes and was looking for a dinner spot/brewery. Glad I came across this place! I ordered a grilled cheese and a Caesar salad paired with a hard cider. I sat at the bar and enjoyed my food and drink in peace. I came on a Monday so it was pretty quiet but I enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a neat little brewery. I'll probably come back tomorrow too since there's not many other places similar to this in the area (at least that I'm aware of or are open). Good food, good prices, good service, good vibe. Nice place and recommend giving it a shot!

Yelp
Great beer. Good food. Friendly service and vibe. We arrived at 6pm on a Friday night and the place was pretty busy. We were able to find seats at the bar while we waited for our table. Enjoyed a couple of delicious IPAs and tasted the Blueberry Cream Ale that was delicious. We shared a garden salad and buffalo chicken burger called the Kicken Chicken that was really good. I liked the local names of all the beers. Very cool spot that supports local causes with their profits.

Yelp
My friends from college and I stopped in for some craft beer and a bite to eat. We got a couple of flights and really enjoyed our selections. The bartender was very helpful and answered all of our questions. It has a very pleasant atmosphere and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. I had the loaded fries and they were delicious. It is definitely a place I will return to.
google avatar

Stanislav S.

Yelp
Not a bad place! Gets pretty busy, but we get our food and drinks pretty fast. Nice dog-friendly outdoor dining. This place knows their spice! Every dish is packed with heat. Wide selection of drinks. Only downside was a 30 minute wait. Would recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Really kind server, delicious runny ranch, and amazing pizza choices! We had a group of 10 and were accommodated really well. Brewery vibes with a cute patio as well. Beer, wine, cocktail, and mocktail options too

Valerie C.

Yelp
Good food and good service . The pizza was delicious. The only thing that we didn't like is it's very loud inside ....
google avatar

The D.

Yelp
Beer was ON POINT!! I could say that is it, but it is not, the food was great, mushroom Swiss burger MEDIUM, A+++++, the best part was the actual appetizer , Spinach Artichoke dip, F*9KING awesome, fresh, again IK Lame, but ON POINT again. Bartender was chill/cool, when I am back, I will be coming back.

Yelp
Food , service , all were fresh and served with a smile . What a great little town this is.

Tim B.

Yelp
Ate here twice in 3 days. Enjoyed both the shrimp po'boy and then the shrimp tacos. Sunday around 5pm was very busy, while Tuesday around 4pm was nice and quiet. Service and beer selection for both days was very good.

Merrith B.

Yelp
Nice beer selection with a variety of beer styles. Good was good with generous portions. Would come again when we are in Ludington.
google avatar

Nathan T.

Yelp
Very nice place with friendly service. Food was good and came out relatively fast. I would definitely come back here again. Kid friendly, and clean. Cost about $80 for a family of 4.

Yelp
We recently found ourselves needing a place with WiFi to work remotely when our campground nearby didn't have good service as expected. We made our way into downtown Ludington and saw this brewery open and decided to give it a try. First of all, the atmosphere is fantastic. It's extremely clean with nice bathrooms, there's great music that's not too too loud, and a nice outdoor space if that's your thing. We were accommodated with a table near an outlet for our laptops, and the waitress was extremely pleasant and quick. (Please make sure if you're occupying a table for work like this that you order continually and tip appropriately for the time you took the table, to support both the business and your waitstaff.) We enjoyed the mead, beers, and maple spice boneless chicken wings with a side a house made ranch, and the amount of wings you get for the price is massive. Overall, we are now planning a return camping trip, just to come back to this brewery, and we recommend you check it out too.

Brittany A.

Yelp
I had the jalapeño cheddar burger which was amazing! The Mac n cheese which was a 3/10, very bland and dry. They have a really good rum margarita, but no tequila which I thought was strange. &The staff were friendly but slow service.
google avatar

Kk B.

Yelp
Service was not great, a bit uncomfortable (and not a super busy afternoon when we visited). The Michigan Cherry Salad was a surprise - larger, fresher than expected and quite good! And, the turkey wrap was packed full and tasty. Overall, a good casual way to wind down the day. Just had to overcome the disappointing service experience...
google avatar

Brad H.

Yelp
Atmosphere is good. Food was really good and I enjoyed the variety of mostly different ales. Definitely worth a stop. The burger comes with chips or a French fry upgrade. I tried both and it is definitely worth it to go with the fries over the kettle chips which were a little ordinary but not bad.

Gil C.

Yelp
Excellent food and beer. Difficult combination to achieve at a brew pub. Service was exceptional and everything was beautifully kept clean

Jacob P.

Yelp
The pizzas are fantastic and creative! Love the atmosphere and the drinks! Service was a little slow but still 5 stars

Yelp
Really nice place to eat at when in town. Friendly staff and waiters. There was no wait and asked for table outside since we wanted to bring our dog with. They are pet friendly so it worked out and they gave her a bowl as well. Started off with some fries and 10/10, super crispy, good amount of the sprinkled cheese, good amount of salt and the parsley added some nice other taste to it. Main Courses: Shrimp Tacos 5/10, the shrimp were pretty bland, there was supposed to be a kick and some flavoring to them but honestly I only got it with the first two shrimp. Corn tortillas were okay and the guacamole and salsa were also just okay. Salmon Entree 8/10, good flavoring just a typical salmon fish, broccoli was okay, rice was good. Expecting a bigger piece for the price but it's okay. Mahi Mahi Entree 9/10, good flavoring on the fish, no complaints. Broccoli was just okay as well and the rice was good Shrimp Po Boy 7/10, needed more flavoring on the actual shrimp. Wasn't expecting a ciabatta bread but it was good. Everything else was fine. Drinks- lemonade 8/10, tangelo beer 10/10 Overall just priced highly for the food.

Yelp
This place seems nice and it has a lot of patronage, but it didn't turn out to be very good. The beer was good and I had a flight to try a good variety. We ordered at 7:50 and our food didn't come out until 8:45. Long wait for sure! We had ordered a kids burger, kids pizza, a salad, pork chop dinner and a pizza for my wife and I to share. The kids burger was burnt, both pizzas were on a dry presumably frozen crust, and the pork chop was dry as well. The salad with dried Michigan cherries and got cheese was good though. Our server wasn't the best and the kitchen was painfully slow. I wouldn't recommend.

Ketan S.

Yelp
Arriving for the 4th of July weekend here in Ludington, we made reservations for here on our way using Open table. When we walked in the place was busy and huge! They also had outdoor seating with live music. We ordered all the stuff in the pics shown in my review. I liked the Salmon and the asparagus that came with it. Service was very good! On the flight - I liked all their brews and I would recommend Orange Cream Ale and Summer Fling the most.

Larry G.

Yelp
Great night out and amazing jalapeño popper pizza. Never a disappointment. Love the team here!
google avatar

Kellie M.

Yelp
Great service and cool place. Lots of seating inside and out. Liked the Cajun shrimp tacos a lot!!
google avatar

Jeff G.

Yelp
Nice place with very friendly people. Clean and inviting. Local beer brewed on site. A diverse but not oversized menu. Pizza, burgers, interesting starters. The Loaded Fries were a hit with the wife and teenager. Both said they were the best they'd had. The brussel sprout app is great. BUT.........The Fried Honey Chicken is a show stopper. I mean it is SPECIAL. I usually stay away from half chickens at a restaurant. More so because it is a messy endeavor in public. I took a chance for this and could not be happier that I did. Sure I needed a couple more napkins and I had to wash my hands when I was done, but so worth it. Everyone had order envy at my table. The service was terrific, BRONWYN did a fabulous job. The beer is also terrific. I had a Tangelo to start and a James Street Brown with my dinner. I suggest both. I highly recommend a meal here.
google avatar

Edward R.

Yelp
Good service, reasonable prices. Had the pepperoni pizza (because they don't serve sausage). Way too much garlic in the sauce. Had to scrape it off. Tasted it all the next day. Yuk. Food on other tables looked ok. Just ordered wrong item I guess.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Amazing place!!! We definitely will eat there again. Cute town to! We Loved it. The beer and wine were yummy too. Thank you Ludington Bay Brewing.
google avatar

Jenn G.

Yelp
Loved my flight of ! Appreciated that we got a table faster than the hostess estimated. Perfect to be able to grab a beverage associated with the Ludington Social District, even though we didn't walk far... went around the corner to check out their music & cornhole tournament. Grateful to our server for warning us that pizza was taking a while. So we made different selections. We started with the pretzel sticks - yum! Especially dipped in beer cheese. Although I think one of my kiddos wasn't a big fan of the dusting of pepper on his pretzel. Nothing a finger couldn't wipe off. My Michigan salad with chicken & dried cherries was tasty. Youngest enjoyed the Mac n cheese. He liked it even better after dousing it in beer cheese. Oldest ate every last morsel of his Pulled Pork Platter and hubby enjoyed his shrimp P.O.' boy.

Mary Beth G.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Friday night and had the best perch basket we've ever had. That's saying a lot in perch country. It's lightly breaded and perfectly fried. Fries are great, too. We each had a couple of beers. We're partial to wheat beer, and the American Wheat and Peach something wheat were both very good. Jacki Daniels was the entertainment and added to the great vibe. Service was very knowledgeable and attentive. Our bill was very reasonable at under $60. We'll be back.

Yelp
Ludington Bay Brewing is one of two brewpubs on the same street in Ludington, Michigan. We stopped here because the food looked great and we were very pleased with our food. When we arrived we were seated immediately at a table outside on the patio. We did not see our waitress for a very long time, and unfortunately, none of the other staff offered to get us a beer while we waited. It happened that our waitress was trying to check out a group that had about 10 different checks that each needed to be run. A little teamwork would have gone a long way. When it came to ordering food, we suffered from our eyes being hungrier than we could possibly eat. We started with the pretzels which were amazing. The sprinkle that they season these with is phenomenal and the beer cheese was great. For our meal with got a crab rangoon pizza which is a great creation. The cream cheese and the sweet chili sauce really set this pizza apart with the imitation crab and crispy wontons bringing in the rest of the flavor profile. We also ordered some boneless chicken wings, thinking that there would be 10 -12 in an order. Ooops, there had to be at least 20 wings in this order. We got a mix of two flavors and both were excellent. We ended up sharing with the table next to us because we hate wasting food. Unfortunately, the patio has a fly problem and there did not seem to be any effort to control it. I know this is tough, but it really was an issue that made an impact on how much we enjoyed our visit.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Saturday in September with our babies and our two pups and requested seating on the back patio. The hostess brought us to a shaded/covered area which was absolutely perfect. She also had fresh water for our dogs and set out high chairs for the babes. Then our waitress came and helped by offering menu options that the babies could eat. She was very knowledgeable and knew what was in everything so we could decide if they could have it or not. I ordered the Turkey LBBC wrap and my husband got a Cheesy Bay burger. I loved my wrap, it was the perfect option for me. I was feeling something light and fresh, and this was it! His burger was also delicious! Simple, but the quality hits it on point. Would definitely recommend this place for a great atmosphere, friendly service, and tasty food!
google avatar

Greg W.

Yelp
Beer is great - awesome selection. The menu is creative - nothing blew me away but I would eat again. My gripe is their policy on military discounts. I did not serve, but someone in my party did. He kindly asked if there was a military discount after we had finished our meal. The waitress said yes, and adjusted his meal only (not his 1 beer) by 10%, which came out to about $1.20. I'm not asking for freebies or 30%+ off, but either have a policy or don't - it was more of a slap in the face what they did give vs. giving anything at all.

Yelp
Ludington Bay Brewing has a great selection of craft beers and unique food options. When we arrived at dinner time on a weeknight all the tables were taken but we found two open seats at the bar. I decided to try the Carb Rangoon pizza and my husband tried a pizza with pickles and ranch dressing on it. The bartender offered some suggestions as to beers that would pair well with both options she also let us sample them. I ended up selecting a cream ale. Both the pizza and beer were good. We recommend giving Ludington Bay Brewing a try.

Ann L.

Yelp
Excellent service by Carly. Food was very good. We had the Michigan cherry salad and kickin chicken. The beers were really good and I typically am not a big fan of some brewery beers.
google avatar

Jayson D.

Yelp
Great craft brews and great outdoor patio where you can even bring your parched pooch. Adored their pizzas--particularly the crab rangoon version. It really tasted like crab rangoons atop the pie right down to the creamy cream cheese and sweet rangoon sauce. I could have gone for more bits of crab in the cream cheese, but this pizza totally bangs. We also tried their pork chops entree, but this wasn't anything I couldn't make myself. The chops were dry and, aside from being topped with stewed apples, were pretty much without seasoning. Veg of the day was asparagus and that too had no seasoning. I'd skip this next time. Service was top notch. Pooches welcome on their relaxed outdoor patio--our server even brought a water dish and cookies for our beagle, Miles Davis. Brews were hearty and stood up well with the pizza. Ludington Bay is easy to recommend!

Yelp
Best restaurant in Ludington that I've ever been too. We ordered the Mac n cheese and jalapeño pepper pizza. Bother were amazing!

DebS D.

Yelp
The food was amazing! The lobster roll was delicious and so was the mac and cheese and the pickle pizza and the cherry salad. And the beer selection was out of this world! The vanilla jitterbean, the peanut butter stout and the ipas were all awesome! We will be going back everyday this week while we are visiting Ludington. One of the best breweries we've been to and we've been to many! Service was great and the ambiance was nice.

Kari F.

Yelp
We had a great experience here the other day with a large party of 9. We were seated right away and our waitress was attentive. The food was outstanding. Our group had the pretzel appetizer with beer cheese, and for meals: the cod basket, Michigan salad (soooo good!!), burgers, and kids Mac and cheese. The fries are the best I've ever had, and dipped in the leftover beer cheese from our app: AMAZING!! We usually go to the other brewpub down the street, but I would love to return here.

Mark V.

Yelp
What a great stop! The food was excellent and the service was amazing; the young lady (Hope) that took care of us was genuinely friendly, accommodating, and responsive. The salmon I had was one of the best I ever had and hard believe the price included veggies, rice, and a salad. If I didn't live on the other side of the lake I would frequent this place!

Hanna M.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was busy, and only got busier as the night went on.. which we saw as a good thing! The atmosphere was great! They had the college football games on the TV. We started with the boneless wings, in which we picked Asian zing and the homemade bbq. The homemade bbq was both of our favorites, as it had a great flavor!! Also, amazing homemade ranch on the side. We both also decided to get pizzas, which we definitely should have split one. I asked the waiter what the most popular pizzas are and he mentioned the Bbq chicken and the Jalepeño popper. My husband decided to get the jalapeño popper, and I got the "kind of a big Dill". The "kind of a big dill" came with chicken on it, and I didn't quite understand why. I was contemplating asking them to remove it, but ended up adding bacon instead. Holy cow. These were both amazing. The bacon was an amazing addition! Next time I would get no chicken, add bacon. However, we both agreed that the jalepeño popper was hands down the best. The dough was thick, the cream cheese spread was amazing and creamy, and there was an abundance of jalepeños but was not over the top spicy. We both loved it. I would 100% recommend coming here on your next visit to Ludington!
