"Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art collects and displays masterpieces of modern and contemporary art. The permanent collection contains pieces by American pop art masters (like Warhol and Oldenburg), while temporary exhibitions focus more on Eastern and Central European Art. Vernissages and finissages are always cool events with lots of art-loving locals." - Budapest Design Week

"Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art Ludwig museums crop up frequently throughout Europe—the Ludwigs were avid German art collectors who were also generous enough to make large donations and establish institutions in places like Cologne since the late 1980s—and Budapest is no exception. The collection of this particular Ludwig Museum, like the others, focuses on art made since the 1960s. Unlike the others, it has a decidedly Hungarian focus. Rotating exhibitions feature much avant-garde and often Eastern European art not easily or often seen elsewhere. The museum itself, which is situated inside the Müpa complex, is an airy, unadorned space to view the works."

I absolutely loved my visit! The museum had such a peaceful atmosphere, and the exhibits were both bold and thought-provoking. I especially appreciated the works by local Hungarian artists. A must visit if you’re into modern and contemporary art ✨

Very beautiful on the outside and very empty on the inside. There are few exhibits in my opinion, the whole first floor is completely closed, all the literature in the shop is in Hungarian, I wish there were books on art and architecture in English as well. In general, it is worth a visit to broaden your horizons, but you should not expect much

Very good exhibition in early 2025 on contemporary women's art, mainly from central and Easter Europe. There are quite a few very strong pieces. There were no nudes and no reference to sex which did make me wonder if the curators were taking care not to offend the conservative cultural sensibilities of the regime in power.

We took about 1h to visit the museum. The exhibitions were interesting. You can get a 50% if you are under 26. The museum has about 3 floors inside.

Muzeum of modern art for those, who are interested in thema. For me the most impressive is the architecture of the building, the interior and modern district around with amazing view of Dunaj

Even it is situated outside the central line of the city, this museum is one of the best contemporary ones we have seen, and we have seen quite few. The building itself is very up to date, with a clean and interesting architecture. The exhibitions were very nice but we recommend to buy the tickets for all of them, otherwise you miss a lot. We really appreciated the Marton Nemes techno Zen exhibit, a very avangardist art in terms of materials, colors, mixing with sound. It is inspiring to see that art can be born from, somehow, ingeneering. We really liked our experience here. The time you need is around 1.5 h.

Terrific collection of Pop Art and impressionist art, and the Cologne gallery specifically has the largest Picasso collection internationally, if I remember correctly, very inspiring collection, and the restaurant in the museum goes well beyond the average museum restaurant
