The 25 Best Things to Do in Budapest (Updated 2025)

"I found Lukács to be another worthwhile thermal option in the city; it was mentioned as one of the other baths that are worth a visit alongside Széchenyi and Gellért." - Matthew Kepnes

6 of the hottest thermal baths in Budapest, Hungary that locals can’t get enough of - SilverKris

"A more modest and less photogenic complex than the grander baths, this spot is nevertheless known for its lively Magic Bath parties in the colder months, where DJs spin electronic beats and laser projections dance over partygoers in the geothermal outdoor pool. The emphasis here is on energetic, seasonal nightlife combined with traditional thermal bathing." - SilverKris

One of the best things I did on my vacation. I spent 5 hours at this bath. They have many great pools of varying temperatures. Indoor and outdoor. I especially loved the whirlpool where you spin around the centre hot tub. It’s so fun. The inside mineral baths are amazing. It’s not as quiet and relaxing as you’d probably like but it was a great experience. They have lockers and if you bring a passport or cell phone make sure you rent a locker at the front desk. I got my tickets on GetYourGuide and was able to get a great package deal. Check them out.

I got a private cabin and was able to use my student ID for a discount. I also tried the 20-minute massage, but I wouldn’t say it’s worth it if you’re on a budget. There’s a swimsuit dryer available (photo attached), which was convenient. The entrance fee itself was worth it. You can bring your phone into the pool area, but it’s at your own risk.

This was my very first spa experience, and visiting Budapest had been on my list for the past two years—ever since my trip to Prague, when I unfortunately missed Budapest. So finally being here felt special. I visited the Lukács (Lutex) Bath on the recommendation of my tour guide from a free walking tour, and I’m glad I followed the suggestion. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a thermal bath, but overall it turned out to be a really nice experience. Visiting solo felt a little unusual at times, but that didn’t take away from the experience. Being there just to relax and try something new was enjoyable, and I’m happy I got to experience one of Budapest’s famous thermal baths.

A great more local alternative to all the big bathhouses, though the thermal baths themselves were a bit crowded when I came. Has a great roof which is a great place to chill and sunbath

Wonderful experience here! I like the local vibes and the circular pool. Plenty of locker rooms available. Highly recommended. Worth HUF 6000 entry fee. Bring flip-flops.

A nice old natural thermalbath .There are three indoor pools, which are a bit small and cramped, but there is an outdoor pool and an outdoor whirlpool. The sauna is good. The other outdoor pool requires a hair cap to swim, or else a guard will whistle and tell you to get out. The price is average, but we went on a Friday a lot of people .There is inside restaurant for food and drinks, but they don't accept cash; you have to buy a card to pay for food and drinks.

We enjoyed the baths. It’s very cheap compared to a lot of the more ‘touristy’ places. We payed 3,800 each for the afternoon session which is 2 hours before closing. It was quite busy as lots of people came for this time but you could always find a space in the pools. They also have a student price if you show a student ID card. There’s 1 main poor for relaxing outside with a whirl pool and jets. 2 swimming cold pools which you need a swimming cap to enter, saunas, steam rooms and 3 thermal baths which are different temperatures. It felt pretty clean but could be better. There’s also lots of sun loungers where you can relax and a roof terrace. There’s a cafe there as well.

This is the thermal bath to attend if you want a local experience. We were a little confused on where to go, the timing of our massage etc. so just relax and bumble through it if you go. 😄 Staff are helpful but not friendly, so don't get offended. Had a wonderful massage and we enjoy the Hops Beer Bath while drinking Chezch beer. I didn't want to leave it was such a relaxing experience.
