Lukimbi Safari Lodge (Kruger National Park, South Africa) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Nestled in Kruger Park near South Africa’s eastern border, Lukimbi Safari Lodge is a tasteful, comfortable throwback to the days when Ernest Hemingway was tramping around the continent. Guests can expect to see lions, rhinos, leopards, and more on this boutique hotel’s guided safaris, where they might also encounter any of the park’s 420 native bird species. Suites are furnished with classic South African décor, and the premier suites feature a bath big enough for two, a private patio and pool, and the occasional visit from the neighborhood’s elephants. And while the lodge and its location evoke a more rugged past, the in-house restaurant is refined, serving artistic local dishes and an award-winning wine list." - Tablet Hotels

We recently had a wonderful four night stay at this lodge. Will start with the amazing staff. Can't say enough about the excellent level of service provided by everyone. They were all extremely warm and friendly and accommodated to our every need. The setting and lodgings were terrific. Animal sightings were fun to view from our room and dining area. Our safaris were very productive thanks to our ranger and tracker. Our ranger was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot every day. We enjoyed the food and special meals. My wife loved her massages.

Great to be met on arrival with hot/cold towels. Lovely accommodation looking over the river, with elephants feeding close by. The game drives were first class, Marcel and Hector combining well with their knowledge and tracking ability, finding an elusive leopard and also some lion cubs. Bush walk down to the river was a great experience. Food was average, but that is not the primary reason for visiting a game reserve. We were lucky to go at a quiet time and therefore had virtually one-to-one service. We would definitely go again if we had the chance.

We had a fab 3 days in this super place which ad recommended to us by a best friend who has been many times and it didn’t disappoint! |Sean and his team do a fantastic job in keeping the place spotless to ensure you have a great experience. They are all so friendly and helpful. Our lovely spacious room was at the end 107 and our first view out on the balcony was of lots of impalas running round. The food is also delicious and plentiful . ||As for the safari trips themselves there are 2 a day and we saw the big 5 so a big thanks to our super guide Coneth and Michael our spotter . Coneth is so knowledgeable about the animals, nature etc and has a great sense of humour which all helped to make our wonderful safari experience. We would certainly recommend this place !

The accommodations were quite nice, overlooking a river where elephants come in herds to drink. Dinner was exquisite, and the service was great overall. The massages were fantastic as were the guides who accompanied us on game drives.||I did not give this place five stars for two reasons. First, when you go out for an evening game drive and break for sunset cocktails, you are charged even for fruit juice and no alcohol. This place is all-inclusive and not cheap; I didn't like how at meal time and on these game drives, you had to provide your name and room number to be billed an additional amount for juice.||Additionally, my room's floor moldings appeared to not have been cleaned in a long time (lots of dust and grime) around the sleeping quarters.

I have to be honest here, I was being a little selfish about writing a review...but the truth is that we just wanted to keep this gem to ourselves, but of course we knew we had to share our experience. We visited Lukimbi as part of our 2 week African tour. We were guests of Lukimbi for an amazing 3 nights. From the time we arrived at the Main lodge we were warmly greeted by Management with nice refreshing towels and an icy beverage. We felt transported to a different time and place (somewhere from an old movie). This place is beyond amazing and the staff are more attentive than many of the 5 star hotels and resorts we have visited. The food was fresh, included local game and specialties. Every meal was well presented and delicious. The main lodge is very open and comfortable and our private suite/|lodge was so very comfortable and beautiful. The views from our lodge and our very own private pool were simply breathtaking. The wildlife just appears out of the bush and makes you feel so blessed to be that close to nature and all it offers. Our Ranger - Coneth and our Tracker - Sippo were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and attentive and made our daily game drives the best adventures ever. They could find animals in the most amazing ways and places. While safety is Rule #1 at Lukimbi, they incorporate it into all aspects of the daily routine but it just becomes second nature and you have a wonderful time experiencing the beauty and serenity of the vastness of the reserve. We plan to return in the not-so-distant future and this time it will be the focus of our trip and the only destination for us. While our entire trip was amazing (Cape Town, Victori falls, Cairo, Luxor, DoHa - Qatar), Lukimbi was for us the absolute highlight. We cannot say enough about our stay in Lukimbi, but if you ever have the opportunity to visit, I strongly recommend you take it.

Fabulous facilities, friendly staff, great food. So — why 4 stars?||They charge you extra for anything you drink - and there are no prices. You get bill with outrageous charges for every soft drink, bottle water, alcoholic drink, etc. bring your own water or get ready for charge every time you need or want a drink unless you feel your canteen from the big water jug out front. ||Lukimbi is beautiful place with outstanding service - so why nickels and dime thirsty guests? Prices are sufficiently high and should come with a bottle of water.

All aspects of this resort are 5 star! The food is outstanding, staff are so friendly and personable, and the knowledgeable guides with animal spotters make this lodge spectacular . Coneth and Sepu are a dynamic duo working in tandum to find animals. The knowledge between the two is like having an encyclopedia along the way. The accommodations with animals on site makes a perfect memory.
