Wow, what a gem! Im instantly in love with this place, for numerous reasons. If you're a desserts enthusiast like myself, it might be difficult to choose just one thing! Upon my first visit, I of course had to get the lokma Greek donoughts, & I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were made right in front of me! You don't get any fresher than that. Went with the pistachio topping and each little ball was the perfect 2 bite treat. (I think a large order of these would be great for a party). For a beverage, tried the house lemonade, which was made with mint. Im not a huge mint fan but however it was proportioned was perfect because it tasted like traditional lemonade, but with just a hint of something different. Refreshing!
I wish I hadn't just eaten lunch because EVERYTHING looked so good.. Ive heard good things about the paninis, because the owner makes his own bread.
Im semi-familiar with Greek food and the menu had a nice combination of dishes Im familiar & a fan of.. But also a good many dishes that I have not before tasted. I have spent time in Lebanon (a neighbor of Greece), and I can't put my finger on what it was, but just being inside this cafe reminded me of ones Ive visited abroad.
The very friendly owner happened to be taking our order, and besides being welcoming, he seemed to truly take pleasure in the preparation of his menu. His passion for serving the food he does, was obvious. It always makes me happy when I know Im supporting a local, small business.
Later this week, Ive already decided that Ill be ordering something savory from here for dinner, and having it delivered. White Plains is sadly lacking in establishments that serve Mediterranean cuisine. Im excited to journey through this cafes robust menu!!
