The experience was quite good. I loved the vibes and the food was phenomenal. It was my first time there and they took care of a lot of stuff. The servers were very patient and kind. They also catered for our dog, which was really nice. Overall it was an excellent experience were definitely recommended and I will definitely return back for sure.

Google
It was a very good experience. We tried 8 different dishes and they each had a unique taste. The Wok Fried Thai Noodles was our favourite as it was packed with punch of flavours and fresh herbs. The Chicken Satay had a rich cream texture and blended well with the meat. While the Hot Dog Bao and the Burger each had their own appearances, they felt quite typical and definitely pricey. Overall, we do recommend this restaurant and the service was top-notch as the server kept checking on us frequently.

Google
Went here for yycexp and loved it! The service was excellent and we got seated and served our food straight away. The chicken dumplings and pork lettuce wraps were absolutely delicious, prawn salad was good and then we also ordered squid and egg as extra appetisers. Squid was great, egg was tasty but not amazing. The mochi tart looked amazing but was a bit lacking in flavour. I would highly recommend their menu for YYYCEXP and I’ll definitely be going back to try more from the main menu.

Google
I highly recommend booking a table!! Food was ok, I do like the modern Asian twist but i find that the skewers lack a bit of flavour despite the sauce drizzled (beef tongue, sausage, mushroom). The hot dog snack was cute, 2.5 bite per portion, but price was quite expensive compared to the quantity. Drinks were fun and cute, overall scene was fabulous. Service was sloooowwww despite our waitress was trying her best to accommodate ( it was busy so I understand). Overall, give it a shot but expect to wait for a table if you don't have a reservation.

Google
A real gem of a restaurant. The menu has so many interesting choices with Asian inspired dishes. I loved the loco moco. An extensive drink menu too where you're sure to find something that strikes your fancy. The staff are welcoming and the vibes are immaculate.

Google
Definitely one of my go to spots. They make a great Martini. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Great spot to meet friends for a drink and a catch up. Fun food with a flair for the exotic. My favourite the house made spam and the Bao hot dogs. Go you will not be disappointed Great spot for people watching

Google
Stopped by to grab lunch by sharing a bunch of their happy hour items with some friends and the dishes didn’t disappoint! The calamari were some of the most gigantic pieces I have ever seen, seasoned well and cooked just right. The hot dog bao was such a unique take; the char siu being shaped like a mini hot dog - the assembled bao had a burst of flavor with the sauce and pickled mustard greens. The kimchi dip didn’t quite have that kimchi flavor we were looking for, but was quite delicious nonetheless! Great price points for their happy hour!

What's not to love about Lulu? The guava Mai Tai? The scallop crudo? The tuna poke? The lobster dumplings? The crispy potatoes? The hula pie? The Chantilly cake? There is nothing not to love about this neighborhood gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Yelp
Food is good but nothing special that I would crave again. Very expensive and small portions. Our favourite dish was the stir fried thai noodle. The beef tataki and pork belly apps were also good enough that I would reccomend. The popular miso egg was very underwhelming, I expected more flavour. The tuna poke was also disappointing. Tiny 1cm cubes with a bunch of puffed rice chips. The $20 dish is basically an appetizer.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour drinks. The cocktail menu is interesting and delicious. We had the bao, beef tongue, and skewers. I would recommend all of them. There was ample seating and we did not have to wait very long during a busy weekend.

Yelp
Really nice spot for snacks and drinks. I enjoyed their speciality cocktails and light bites. The hot dog bau was intriguing and the pork belly was very flavorful. Dishes on the smaller side. Beef tongue skewer was not bad as well. The sauce was well done.

Yelp
Back again over 2 years apart. Food and drinks remain amazing. Service was pretty good. A great spot to go to share food and try a little bit of everything!

Yelp
Great vibe. Cocktails were amazing, and the staff were all very friendly. They have a killer happy hour as well ... highly recommend sitting at the bar and conversing with all of the fun/friendly bartenders

Yelp
Just wanted to update my review to show the amazing drink I forgot to post! Our great server yelled 'your drink is on fire' when he delivered to our table, ot was hilarious!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was pretty bland. Great drinks, great service, and a really cool place. But all those creative dishes lead to lack of flavour.

Yelp
I'm ashamed that it's taken me this long to try Lulu Bar when I live only a few minutes' walk away and pass it almost every day. Well, better late than never. I found out about their 2:00-5:00 "Honolulu Happy Hour" every day (maybe Mon-Fri, find out before you go) with some very well-priced specials and went with a friend to try it. We arrived around 3:45 and got a fantastic table on the patio, and we had all of two cocktails (a Mai Tai and this...coffee and coconut thing in a tiki mug, very cute), the burger, chips and dip, cucumber salad, a dish of tiny cubed pork belly served with toothpicks, and for dessert their spin on tres leches cake. Everything was delicious!! The cocktails are half-priced during this happy hour and they pack a PUNCH- no cutting corners there and as a very light drinker, this was almost too much. But I perservered. The food was incredible- every item had a little creative spin, like how the "dip" was a yogourt-and-mayo (I think) based dip seasoned with kimchi with "chips" that were deep-fried...something, just mesmerisingly delicious. The burger is topped with spam (see, Hawaiian) and is served on a bao bun, meat is ground in-house so it's pink and luscious, the dessert was fabulous...the entire experience was just amazing, topped off by EXCELLENT service from our server, whose name was Yasmine (I might be misspelling it, but she was tremendous). One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had!

Yelp
The second time at Lulu was even better!! Not only because of the ambiance but the food was sooooo delicious. The steam bun burger was the highlight The pork belly and steak were fantastic and as much as we wanted to try a few more things, the cocktails didn't allow for that to happen ‍. So many amazing cocktails. One of the best places to eat in Calgary. Definitely a must try.

Yelp
My fiancé and I shared the grilled chicken satay, crispy Brussel sprout salad, and mockiko fried chicken. All three were so delicious and there was more than enough food for the two of us. 5 out of 5, highly recommend! We'll be back. The coconut cooler was also amazing, best mixed drink I've ever had!

Yelp
Lulu bar is a great trendy spot on 17th! The ambiance is spacious, slightly dark, and the menu offers traditional Asian dishes and fusion. We ordered the popcorn (spicy!), wood grilled broccolini, and crispy new potatoes. Everything was SO good! To drink I ordered the coconut cooler (highly recommended), and the reverend Nate hard cider (very tart, good though). I was able to make a reservation pretty easy for a Friday night in summer & staff was friendly!
google avatar

Dustin B.

Yelp
Great spot on 17th. The food is simply phenomenal. Asian fusion might be my best description. The diversity of ingredients and flavors sets Lulu apart. See pictures for more. Service and staff is very welcoming and greet with recommendations. Atmosphere is vibrant with multiple seating options: front patio, side patio, inside, or at the bar.

Yelp
Did a bunch of the shareables which is a good way to try a bunch of things. Some were a hit & a few misses! Love the half price happy hour cocktails! The ambiance is okay. The staff are great & helpful! The coconut cake tres leche was the worst I've ever had! It was sooooo dry!

Yelp
Delicious cocktails, bites and company @thelulubar Starting off with the pineapple Negroni and Look Out Below Small tip. If you're a Moscow mule fan, don't get it here. They don't use ginger beer but use ginger syrup instead. Everything is sooo good. I'd say my favourite was the the king oyster mushroom skewer and coal roasted halibut and steak. And the wasabi edamame. Who am I kidding. All of it was so good. Food came fast and furious and service was amazing. For bites- - steamed edamame with wasabi dressing - omg. Best beans. Ever. - steamed lobster dumplings - king oyster mushroom skewers you MUST get this. I literally saved it to eat lay as my dessert. - grilled chicken skewer - fried coconut squid - coal roasted halibut yum!! - warm beet salad - miso roasted cauliflower ( forgot to ) - wood grilled beef strip steak with maitaki mushrooms Okay. Roll me home back to Vancouver now. Thank you

Yelp
It was an amazing experience! The vibe and food were exceptional and our server Jaden was awesome. We shared the cauliflower, zucchini, calamari, Halibut, & potatoes. All were delicious. And the meringue dessert.. wow. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Came on a Thursday evening around 630pm and it was definitely getting pretty busy. Would recommend reservations if you can. They have a covered patio area as well as lots of space inside. Service was pretty good and location is great, right in the heart of the bar/restaurant district in Calgary. The food was pretty unique and for the most part flavourful and enjoyable. Their beer selection wasn't the greatest, but the beers they had were pretty good (I ordered an IPA and wife ordered some cocktail) Prices are pretty reasonable, and it's the type of place where you order many small dishes to share. The stand-out dishes were the lobster Dumplings but surprisingly not for the lobster! You could barely taste any lobster at all actually... But the skin of the dumpling was made from tapioca and was really good flavour-wise and texture! The coconut calamari I enjoyed quite a bit as it was crispy and very coconutty and paired well with the tangy dipping sauce. Beef tongue was pretty good and well cooked, tender and not chewy. Pork belly I enjoyed but wife found dry (as other reviews mentioned). They probably could've cooked it a little less. I liked it crispy. Overall this place tries really hard at the Asian flavours and gets a lot right. In a sea of of pubs and plain jane Western-style restaurants that flood Calgary, this is a really nice fusion restaurant that's worth a try.

Yelp
The vibe in this restaurant was what deserves the great review. Sure the food, drinks, and service was also on point but atmosphere pushed it all the way up there! Definitely a place you want to share some things. I would recommend to others and return myself for sure.

Yelp
We dropped in after walking past and seeing a beautiful bar and patio setting. We enjoyed our cocktails and beers as well as the wasabi edamame. Gin-based cocktails were . Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Loved the food, the vibe, and the service. We stopped by for a quick lunch, sucks we couldn't stay more days. Try the coconut squid!

Healthygirl O.

Yelp
The food was pretty good but not very memorable. Prices are high, menu was limited, and and service was ok. I probably would not come back until menu changes.

Yelp
The exact definition of a trendy, Asian fusion kind of sit down meal! This was my first time in Calgary and based on lots of positive reviews, I pitched this location to friends I was meeting with. We made a reservation which I think was a smart decision seeing how busy it was around dinner time, even on a weekday. The seating on the patio was comfortable, with abundant spacing and dividers for social distancing, as well as direct heaters for each table! The menu could be described as small tapas meant to be shared. Between three of us, we ordered between 4-6 individual dishes including the fried coconut squid, beef tongue skewers, steamed lobster dumplings, and beef tartare. The standout was definitely the beef tongue skewers which were so well seasoned and easy to share. As well, I would highly recommend the lobster dumplings which featured this bright green citrus sauce that didn't overwhelm the dumpling too much. Drinks I just thought were average, but there are definitely some unique Asian inspired choices! Definitely a great place to catch up with friends over beautiful dishes and drinks! A little on the pricier end, but well worth it for the experience of dining on the nicely heated patio, the overall ambiance, and the evident attention to detail for both experience and food!

Yelp
I just moved back to Calgary. We checked into our AirBnB and began to find a place for dinner. I heard about Lulu through different Youtube blogs and already had this on my list to try. Their food was amazing. We ordered about 4 dishes and enjoyed all of them. They are a Asian fusion restaurant and the flavours and ingredients used in their food was top notch. I think this will be one of my favorite places to go to now in the city. :)

Yelp
I made a reso for the wrong date but the hostess was able to accommodate us on a busy night. The service was incredible as was the food. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the root beer daiquiri. Tasted nothing like root beer. The food was small plates..all very delicious. Good atmosphere also. Would return!

Yelp
Our Alberta trip dished out two absolutely amazing foodie experiences (both tapas bars, ironically) and this was one of them! You won't find it written formally but this is a tapas bar with Asian-infusion. We were true tapas soldiers and almost demolished the entire menu, so let's do a walk through (no particular order). 1. Slider - labelled it as a high quality Big Mac (similar tasting, but quality) 2. "Hot Dog" - actually well put together, fatty, deep curing flavour, soft rice bun 3. Dumplings - perfect flavour mix with salts and fresh garnishing 4. Chicken Satay - peanut parade and moist 5. Beef Tongue - a new dish for us, it was okay 6. Duck - did not enjoy this at all, lot of work put into it, however 7. Steak - yum!

Yelp
We had Thanksgiving dinner here and enjoyed it very much. Moco Loco, perfectly prepared duck, squid, roasted beets, tongue skewers and more. Great cocktail menu and wine choices. Friendly servers and an upbeat cheerful vibe. Definitely will return for great food and drinks.

Yelp
This place is going to be popular. Beautiful room, lots of pretty people, and a menu full of playful, colorful food. Lots of themes to choose from: dumplings, grilled skewers, meat, veg, even some pasta. Spam too. Kitchen has a talent for plating, everything comes to the table with lots of color and texture contrasts, on artful plates. We had a nice lunch of fish and dumplings, an artistic riff on a hot dog, and a little pork belly. Tasty. Want to come back for some meat on a stick, and the French omelette. Now that's a pretty looking dish. It barely made it past my table.

Penelope M.

Yelp
Amazing ! An abundance of flavors for your palate. Small plates to share with Attentive service and ambience . Everything was delicious that we tried .

Yelp
I came here for lunch with a girlfriend and had high expectations as it is the sister restaurant of Bridgette Bar. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with a mid-century modern aesthetic, split on two floors. They're also working on a patio for the summer which is very exciting. We shared the fried coconut squid, iceberg lettuce, roasted sweet potatoes and fried miso cured egg. Everything was flavoursome and I didn't expect to love the iceberg lettuce as much as I did. I will definitely be coming back to sample their entrees and larger plates. Our server was very friendly and provided excellent recommendations. I can see this place becoming a hit. Worth a visit and to put on the regular rotation for 17th ave dining. Already a favourite!

Yelp
Had our first dine-in dinner experience since August 2020 and really enjoyed this place! Service and atmosphere were awesome. Although after being cooped up for months at home, it was almost a sensory overload with the sounds of martini shakers, hum of people laughing, music, cars and motorcycles racing along 17 Ave haha!!! The interior was open and we tried pork belly, Thai sausage skewer, and squid which was our fave by far! The boys both had the burger with house made spam and I had a loco moco on ginger rice which was yummy too. I'd like to return to try more items and perhaps sit on their patio. Pray for great weather peeps!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The food and cocktails are superb! I really enjoyed the roasted cauliflower and hot dog bao buns - both really flavourful and unique!
google avatar

Carmen Z.

Yelp
Thank you to Kadie T. for such an amazing time. The beef Tatar was absolutely delicious. We also had the burger with spam - did you know their spam is made in house? Without preservatives! My boyfriend And I just stopped by for some food and drinks and she made us feel very welcome. And very safe, their covid protocols are 10/10. Thanks Kadie! Sorry I ate all the food before taking pictures. I was so hungry.

Texas T.

Yelp
My sister (who has Celiac) and I came here and shared a few dishes. I don't need to eat GF but I thought everything was delicious and didn't feel like we compromised on taste or variety. She was excited to finally be able to enjoy three items she's never had as GF, fried chicken, lightly fried squid and steamed dumplings. See the photo and menu. The staff was extremely helpful in describing the dishes and ingredients. We would greatly recommend this gem in Calgary on 17th Avenue!!

Yelp
Throwback to couple weeks ago when a friend and I decided to check out @thelulubar on a Friday evening. 17th ave SW. . The food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. I would recommend making reservations, because they get really busy and wait times are about two hours when you walk in. We got pretty lucky and got a shared table. Drinks are fun and I can't get over how yummy all the dishes were. The decor is worth mentioning as well, as a plant lover, I can appreciate the plentiful greenery. . Lobster dumplings Coconut (jalapeño) squid Hot dog bao Beef bavette Bobcat and slurpee . #yyc#yycfood#yycfoodie#yycnow#yycliving#iamdowntown#yycbuzz#dishedyyc#curiocitycalgary#grubbedyyc#calgarylife#yyceats#iamdowntownyyc#thelulubar

Yelp
Nice food, atmosphere and great service. Although the drinks/cocktails seem overly expensive for what they are and some were slightly disappointing.

Yelp
Fantastic place to come here with a group of people to try out a variety of stuff. You HONESTLY can't go wrong with anything on the menu.. and that is rare in any restaurant. We were a group of 5 and got a bunch of starter plates to share and 1 main plate. STARTERS Steamed Edamame Thai Sausage (pork) Grilled Chicken Satay Popcorn (unnecessary) MAINS Steamed Lobster Dumplings Curry Coconut Linguini Watermelon Salad Baby Gem Salad DESERT Baked Hula (dark chocolate tasted like PURE chocolate!) Japanese Cotton Cake DRINKS We also had a couple cocktails all of which were pretty good albeit more expensive than cocktails at other restaurants ~RECOMMENDATIONS~ Honestly I would recommend everything that we ate. But the dish that will make me come back is the Coconut Curry Linguini and the steamed Lobster Dumplings. I really can't wait to come back and try the rest of the things on the menu and even more cocktails. This place DESERVES the title of being the best restaurant in Calgary hands down.

Vanessa K.

Yelp
Alanna was an incredible server. Friendly and thoughtful and made sure to give us fantastic recommendations throughout. My first time at Lulu bar was a wonderful experience thanks to her and I hope she is recognized for that. I will be back for Alanna and her exceptional service! Vanessa

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere Open kitchen with a modern/rustic fusion feel Looks like a fusion between Asian and European. Very high quality ingredients, didn't like cauliflower before I tried Lulus dish. Their chicken is amazing, the satay skewers are outstanding, very well made drinks too.

E S.

Yelp
Our third time here and this time was super disappointing. Walked in for our reso and the girl at the front door had so much attitude. What happened to being greeted with a smile, and really if you don't want to greet with a smile then there are a lot of other jobs out there. The food was also not as good as I remember, was there changes after covid??? After 3 times here , we won't be back.

Yelp
One of my fav places for food ! Such a wide ranged menu. I recommend the Boa buns and the deep fried squid. Their cocktail list is also amazing
google avatar

Yelp
Tried this place again and found the drinks definitely improved. They don't taste watered down anymore. The skewers are delicious too--my favourite was the oyster mushroom skewer.
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this spot, the food was so flavorful and it was very cool scene - very NYC/LA like. Highly recommend!

Hong M.

Yelp
Cute little place for small bites and cocktails with friends. The food didn't really stand out to be super amazing to me, but it was still good just not the greatest.
google avatar

Chelsea K.

Yelp
One of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had in Calgary. One bright spot was the unique drink menu, however out of our large group, several had to change their drink order because of how bad their drinks twsted. And unfortunately, the same went for the food. The macadamia nut butter and noodle salad were the only dishes the entire group enjoyed. The duck was deemed "inedible" by several in the group. The atmosphere is fun and the decor was great, but we were really disappointed in the food and drinks (coming from a normally very easy to please group!). We also had to wait twenty minutes for our table which we had reserved weeks in advance.
google avatar

Kitty T.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with great food! Our group of four ordered a bunch of stuff to try and enjoyed everything. The lobster dumplings and coconut squid are a must try! Also really enjoyed the pork belly and beef tonque skewers if those are your thing. It was my first time having a French omelette and it was very delicious! Mochiko chicken is not quite what I remembered from Hawaii but still well made. Save space for the Hula Pie - be sure to share that after overindulging on everything else! Service was great and attentive - we will be back!

Ian E.

Yelp
Perfect. From the front of house staff to the food. Will make this a regular for sure! The duck was perfect and their small slushie drinks are delicious!

Becky W.

Yelp
Sitting in the patio with nice sunny weather. All food are good and worth to try, just the a bit pricey for vegetables. Beef tongue is too salty and thin. Asparagus is really fresh and green.

Cara J.

Yelp
We loved the food, the drinks, the vibe and ambiance! Everything we had was delicious and our server was great. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Yummy cocktails and u inquest snacks. Don't miss this place. Cool vibe. Outdoor patio.

Yelp
I like what they've done with the place. I hope the owners give it some more time and the right marketing. It's always nice to go with another chef from the Concord group and to be given the XO treatment. It gave us the opportunity to try far more than we had originally bargained for. Some of the small plates we tried were very good. The roasted sweet potato, the chicken satay and spam (yes the spam) were very good. The lobster dumplings, on the other hand need to be reconsidered. The drinks menu has lots of promise. I especially liked the nod back to the previous establishment; the 510. As a sage once said, if the wait staff are dressed comfortably, the service will reflect that. This can be said here. Give it a chance and let your own taste buds decide.
