LuLu's Bread and Bagels

A Fairbanks hidden gem. Great coffee and great bagels. I got the lox and bagel sandwich. They are generous with their portion of lox. You're not going to be disappointed. I also ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel which was a little low on flavor for my taste buds. The place is super clean and has a very welcoming atmosphere. The morning servers are super nice and go over the top to make your morning start right. They'll be seeing me again soon.

Very busy all the time with all kinds of people. Most of baking stuff tastes great! Depends on who is at the cashier, their service is hit or miss. I recommend their Chocolate croissant, scones(flavor varies), hummus sandwich and honey nut spread. Pecan pie bar is too sweet so do not recommend. Whole wheat sourdough was a little harder than I expected. They sometimes mess up the order so safe to double check with them when you receive it.

My wife & I spent a week in Fairbanks & liked Lulu's so much that we ate breakfast there twice. Lulu's bread is really fantastic. I had a BLT with goat cheese on french bread & a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce & cream cheese on french bread, both equally awesome. My wife ordered an egg bacon & cheese sandwich on multigrain, a blueberry peach smoothie, a decaf cappuccino with hazelnut syrup, and a slice of veggie quiche with sweet potato crust. The atmosphere was casual and the service was friendly. If you're looking for a quick bite for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or packing for a picnic, Lulu's is the place to go.

These might be the best lattes in Alaska, very very good. We also love the fresh bread, bagels, pies and baked goods. Can’t go wrong with anything you order. Just had their sourdough loaf today and man is that delicious!!

We go to Lulu's all the time. It's one of the best places in town to grab an economical breakfast for a large family, particularly if you just get their awesome bagels. Don't skip the coffee though! They serve Kaladi's and have some of the best baristas in town. Never had a bad cup.

One of my favorite cafes in town. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. My favorites include the salmon onion and dill quiche, the salted chocolate cake, and the carrot cake.

I love Lulu's, and have for many years. Went in today for the first time in a bit and saw they've removed prices. I am trying to figure how to let them know this is unacceptable. It's ok to change prices and i know it's hard on their boards. But we need the prices without having to ask the cashier. Laminated price list near the register or QR code, at least? I told her my concern, but she is just a kid working the counter and didn't know what to do with me. Please fix this.

I went for it and splurged on the nova lox bagel that was a pricey $22 but I do feel it was worth it for the amount of salmon that was on the sandwich. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming with a book reading corner and a place to see them make the bagels.

The selection available was broad, granted I showed up a few minutes after they opened. The quiche slices looked huge and delicious. I got a breakfast sandwich on the rosemary salt bagel, a brioche cinnamon roll to go, and drip coffee. Everyone I interacted with was friendly. Service was prompt. I appreciated the coffee mug with free refills if ordered "for here". The bagel was really good however, the sausage on the sandwich was bland. I consider myself a cinnamon roll fanatic. I was unfortunately very disappointed in the cinnamon roll. First of all, it has raisins and nuts amongst the roll and I guess I'm a purist when it comes to cinnamon rolls. There is also essentially no cinnamon sugar mixture throughout the layers therefore very little flavor. There's some at the bottom though. Finally, the frosting tasted like pure cream cheese rather than cream cheese frosting. Overall, I'm excited to go back and try other bagels, breads, and quiches but I will not be getting another cinnamon roll!

Good coffee & good food. Nice seating area if you wanted to sit and eat or chat with your friends! Great service!

First time here and the cashier had no problem with answering all of our questions! Food was yummy. Loved the open kitchen! Very cool to see.

Bright, clean interior with helpful staff that serve with a smile and friendly word. The bagel selection was great and the breakfast sandwich I had was the perfect blend of toasted bagel, melted cheese and scrambled egg. My wife really enjoyed her cheese quiche, too. The hot drink I ordered was served promptly and prepared as I ordered. This is now a must-stop for us on the way south from North Pole/Fairbanks, and probably other times while we're in town.

Really enjoyed my lox and bagel at Lulu's Bread & Bagels. We visited Lulu's three times while staying in Fairbanks. It was one of the best breakfast spots in the town! It's also the only place I could find that served lox and bagel. As someone who loves salmon and was scouring Yelp for lox in Fairbanks, I was more than excited to se it on Lulu's menu. When you walk in, you can't miss the glass windows showing bakers pumping out freshly baked bread and bagels. I was a fan of all the bagels I tried and especially their lox with capers, onions, a tomato and scallion cream cheese. It was a super hearty, delicious sandwich that kept me feeling very full. I also appreciated the generous portion of lox. All in all, it was a win for me. Big fan of this cute, low-key breakfast-lunch spot.

Had the most disappointing hot chocolate in my lifetime. Frothy? Yes, but where was the chocolate flavor? I also refrained from purchasing any pastry. Just looking pretty sad.

Omg. The rosemary and salt bagel is seriously one of the best bagels I have ever had!! Combine that with the salmon cream cheese and it is seriously the best combo. Vibe is really nice here!!

My first visit to LuLus was not a great experience. They had almost no bagels or pastries or bread and there was only 1 worker in the place. In LuLu's defense, it WAS 3pm. But I was still sorely disappointed at the utter lack of baked goods a Bakery had to offer. So I decided to give it another shot at redemption and decided to go for a morning visit. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had ay least 25 bagels in every type and flavor and there were tons a pastries and loaves of bread. I ordered a chai tea latte and a goat cheese veggie on sourdough. Both of my orders were finished quickly and tasted spectacular! The chai tea latte was rich yet lite and had the perfect sweetness. The sourdough bread on my sandwich was great - soft and delicious on the inside with a very crusty outside that gave a satisfying crunch when you bite into it. The goat cheese gave the sandwich such great flavor and the tomatoes and onions and lettuce gave it crunch and body and a freshness that all sandwiches need. I can say with certainty that I will be back here to enjoy some of the other treats they have to offer - but do yourselves a favor and only come before noon!

These people are kind and their food was so good that my husband and I weren't sure which to fight over. We loved their simple baguette breakfast sandwich (just baguette, ham, and cheese) along with the pumpkin white chocolate cheesecake. It made for a wonderful start to our weekend trip. I had to call back just to express how wonderful their bakery is. If you're leaving Fairbanks in the morning this is your stop! I would include a photo but we ate it too quickly..

Of you want a bagel you are better to go to a coffee hut and get a bagel. I was in their to get lunch while I was on my 30 minute break from work. When I went in and there ordered my usual and it took them 20 minutes to make my sandwich they were also serving people that ordered after me other customers. It's 100% unacceptable

Got a mocha frap for myself, a dirty chai latte for our friend and a regular chai latte for my wife. My frap was perfect, and feed back on both chai drinks was "yummy". Got a ginger molasses cookie to share and it was nice crisp edges and nice soft cookie middle. Nice balance of ginger and molasses taste.

Felt like having a pastry so I stopped into this small bakery that offers a variety of bagels, pastries, sandwiches, cakes, and coffee drinks. Got a chocolate croissant & a sandwich. The chocolate croissant was a bit dry & burnt on one end for some reason. I've definitely had better. Saw an employee scratch her head & touch a loaf of bread with bare hands. Ew. Since this was my first visit, that's all I have to go on. Maybe this place is better than it seems but I was not impressed or enticed to return.

Amazing place to eat breakfast/brunch/lunch!! Coffee was great and so was the food. Place was busy but it didn't take long at all.

Lu Lu's is awesome! Perfectly made coffee & I got the salmon onion quiche. The crust on this thing was impeccable. Plus the prices are well worth the quality. / would come back.

The interior of the place looks like and there are a lot of pastries on display, apart from bagels. As a bagel place, it really just completely failed to bring an authentic bagel experience - it felt like bread, not a chewy bagel. The scone I got was meh. And the coffee? Despite having Kaladi brothers, it tasted pretty bad. Not sure what went wrong. I guess it does the job when you don't have many choices?

I do not understand why this place is getting 3 stars. The bagels are fresh and I enjoyed my fresh jalapeno cheddar bagel with egg and sausage. Fluffy not doughy.

Great place to shop. I come in and they know my name. Love their mixed berry bran muffin! Fresh!! And they make fresh baked bread every day!!

Great coffee- great place to meet and chat- service is nice and usually done with a smile! We enjoy friends for coffee here. Carb-heaven!

I am giving this place 5 stars after reading everyone else's comments. Seriously? Taking points off for no wifi? I think more places should be like this one. I visited for the first time today. It is the only bakery in this part of town, and I am very glad it is here! I ordered black coffee, a whole wheat everything bagel with hummus, and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was delicious and served in a large hand crafted mug. The bagel and hummus were phenomenal! The hummus was hand made and even had chucks of beans in it. The bagel was toasted perfectly, and I love when bagels are more solid than chewy. The croissant was too buttery for my taste, but I know most people would love it for just that reason. I feel like I had a whole meal, and only paid $7.75, a super good deal for Fairbanks. The service was friendly and efficient. I will certainly return for more!

It's been many years since I've been to Lu Lu's, but today a friend brought me a rosemary bagel with cream cheese and it was excellent on all accounts.

Everything you'd need for breakfast. Fresh breads, decent variety of quiche, 18 kinds of bagels, and tons of ways to make coffee.

I just dumped my $4 latte as undrinkable. The cup says Kaladi Brothers, but the brew is terribly over-roasted. The second-worst cup of coffee in my life (the worst being a McDonalds Mocha). They cookies we bought were ho-hum too, except for the size. Not worth the price.

We had a great lunch here... 4 different homemade breads to choose from for sandwiches (or bagels too), lots of desserts, and coffees. The sourdough wheat bread was tasty. A sandwich, chips, Italian cream soda and Nutella cheesecake came to $17 I think...about right for Fairbanks

Great selection of breakfast foods. Fresh bagels, coffee, and quiches. Very busy for a week day mid-morning, but food was just what we needed for our long car ride.

i ordered a hot chocolate, bagel, muffin. it was all good but it was a little on the expensive side.

Discovered this little cafe with my mother on our morning bike ride. The bakery is phenomenal. They make artisan breads and pastries. The chocolate croissant is a must have, but do get there before 10 am to get yours, they go fast! The cheese quiche makes you want to go back for more as well. Unfortunately, the coffee was a bit of a disappointment. My cappuccino was so light in weight (all foam, no coffee) when I picked it up, I almost tossed it out of my hand.

This is short and sweet... Very good bagels, fine coffee, interesting staff, everybody there seems to know someone else there. As a visitor to Fairbanks, quite pleased to find this place!

Never fails, always excellent. I get the same thing every time I'm there, and it is a consistent happiness that I cannot find at a lot of other cafes in town. If you are looking for the perfect bagel breakfast look no further.

Great local bagels, bread and salads.

This wasn't the worst place I've been in, the coffee was okay, the chocolate chip cookie was light on chocolate and the carrot cake was just okay. What irked me was that this coffee shop plus bakery had no wifi. Seems to me that coffee shops is where wifi got it impetus. BTW, the breads on display looked really good.

This place is amazing! I tried the maple walnut scone and the bagels are the best I have ever had. It was so soft. Seriously this place is the best! ~from an out of towner in the lower 48

It has a nice environment but the people who work there are not the friendliest some are quite rud. I love the sourdough bread there and their sandwiches are good but they don't have anything special to drink for example no ice coffees or teas which is a big bummer!!!!

Great bagels. We really enjoyed their smoked salmon spread and their garlic and chive spread. Loved getting fresh bagels, all of them were delicious.

Okay, I am not a frou frou kind of person. I don't mind when baked goods look a little messy and i'm usually understanding when an employee has a bad day, but I had the weirdest experience at Lulu's today and I will never come back. I ordered some key lime pie and was patiently standing by the counter, looking at the sandwich making while I was waiting. So the employee was touching meat, cheese and putting condiments in sandwiches with her gloves, served up the order, and then took the key lime pie out of the tin with her hands, and handled it on the plate with the same gloves that she used to touch sandwich meat, condiments and cheese. I couldn't believe that that just happened. I am a vegetarian, but honestly thats not even the problem, that is just not sanitary. I stood there in shock, I mean it makes me sick to think about it. I asked her why she hadn't changed her gloves and she said that would be a waste of gloves. Okay, theres environmentally conscious, but why not use a cake server to put it on the plate or using a different employee to get the baked goods? I mean...That is basic food services. I didn't even really want to eat it afterwords. But I don't waste food, so I did end up eating it. and it was good for a keylime pie, but honestly. They will never have my business again. That is gross. I can't believe that that even happened. Heres a tip, if you order pie or sweets, ask them to change their gloves.

I loved Lulu's when they opened, but recently they changed. Their sandwiches were always full of meat and other goodies, last couple times I got a teaspoon of tuna or one thin layer of turkey. They went from really good to super sucky! YEAH SUCKY! Their coffee is always burnt! Not going there anymore!!!

Lu Lu's offers a nice assortment of fresh bagel sandwiches and quiches. The quiche was perfect! The lox bagel sandwich was also quite good, the capers gave just right kick at lunch. The only downfall is that it can be quite busy at lunch time and seating is limited, so it's not the best place to hang out and read a book or mingle with friends for an extended period of time.

I loved to eat here, but they seem to have lost their experienced staff and taken turn for the worse. My orders are often messed up and the quality of the food preparation has declined. Better to give them a miss. Hopefully they can get back their experienced staff of spend some time with the new staff to return to their former glory.

When I'm in the mood for a good breakfast sandwich bagel and coffee I go to Lu Lu's. Oddly they are closed on Mondays... I was always get good espresso at Lu Lu's, constantly good lattes. My favorite is the Kaladi latte. Some reviewers don't seem to enjoy the coffee, but I get coffee through out the year at Lu Lu's and barely ever get bad coffee. Several of my friends and I believe that this is the best place to get espresso in Fairbanks. The breakfast sandwich bagels are good. They put the sausage or bacon in the center of the egg, and the sandwiches are big. Our friend from New York loved the place. He eat breakfast there almost everyday while he was visiting. The bagels look and taste home-made. I'm not a fan of the bread and the other sandwiches they make though. The sandwiches are plain and expensive. The bread, in my opinion, not good. The customer service is good and usually not to busy in the mornings or at lunch. Lu Lu's location is sort of out of the way for many people which is why I think they are less busy. Though I don't even try going there on Saturday or Sunday mornings, they are always way to busy. They have lots of bottled drinks, there are ice teas, calypso lemonades, and other drinks.

I love lulus for their Kaladi coffee, no where else carries Kaladi and they are by far one of the best coffees! Love lulus and their food is always wonderful.

if you're looking for a delicious cup of coffee look no further. after surviving a countless number of all-nighters in college i came to really appreciate a delicious cup of coffee. They serve Kaladi Brothers, which i love. i sorda miss the old location, but the new one is growing on me. the sea salt bagel with tuna is delish. the employees are hit or miss (like anywhere else really...) but usually their service is pretty on point! Occasionally when i have the time I'll drive out of my way to grab a coffee here rather than closer to home.

I thought the coffee here was really good (I had macchiato). I met a friend for lunch and we both had a lox and bagel sandwich. The perfectly toasted asiago bagel was finished with the right amount of cream cheese and some of the nicest lox ever. I agree with the other reviewer who said they should offer wifi, and they could make the atmosphere a little cozier, but I feel like the food and drink deserves a solid rating. Oh, and the staff is really friendly too!

Fairbanks needs a decent bakery, and lulu's just isn't it. We got a quiche, sticky bun and bagel. The quiche was warmed up in the microwave, making it rubbery and the crust soggy. The bagel seemed more like a roll, not dense and chewy like a bagel should be. The sticky bun was really dry and breadlike, didn't even finish it. The staff were friendly and got our order right. What really killed me was the lack of wifi. What kind of bakery/ coffee shop doesn't have wifi in 2014?

Have been there twice and the bagels are good if the girls working there can get your order correct. When I told them they got my entire order wrong, rather rudely the cashier corrected me and told me...I was wrong. Ok... zero stars for service, but 3 for the bagels. By all means don't pass this place up, just spell out your order as if your speaking to a kindergarten and make them print you a receipt.

Love LuLu's. Excellent bagels and breads. Delicious lox bagel sandwich. Tasty treats. Friendly and efficient staff. A great place to meet for coffee or lunch.

The Bagels and coffee are great. Service is sometimes grumpy. I have to agree with the other poster about stinginess of servings-- but it depends on the person behind the counter.

No service. I buy "homemade" bread regularly at other places so I decided to try Lulu's. Went today and stood at the counter and watched the 2 young women working behind the counter. Neither ever acknowledged us. We waited and one girl came out from behind walking right past us within 2 feet and started cleaning empty tables without acknowledging our presence. She was right behind us as we stood at the counter. I turned around and stood there watching her and she wiped the tables. Both girls pretended to not see us standing there. We finally just left. That is a lot of business in loafs of bread that they missed out on since they are the most convenient location for me to shop. Naturally, I won't be back.
