We stayed in Solo 2, a vibrant yellow room with an incredible view of the Bay of Banderas! Humpback whales and their calves entertained us every morning we were there! Mercedes served us the most delicious breakfast of fresh fruit toast and coffee ever morning with a smile and Jesus was available for any need that we might have. This place is classical Mexican decor and hospitality high above the hustle and bustle of the Malecon. A bit of a hike up the hill, but close to everything exciting in old Puerto Vallarta, so quiet and comfortable in the evenings! Loved it and would definitely return!

The hotel itself is gorgeous, clean and peaceful. The staff is extremely friendly. My issue was booking the Estrella room (the one with the advertised patio hot tub) and was not informed before arrival that it does not work, even though it is featured on all the photos and amenities. If that was communicated to me after I booked it, I would have booked a different room and paid far less, or a different hotel altogether that had a private pool/jacuzzi. It was our anniversary trip and much of the vacation was planned around those amenities. The in room wifi does not work either. I had emailed hotels.com during our stay about the issues, and the staff sent up the night security guard to check out the wifi and jacuzzi. He was the second staff member that said the motor did not work. This is the private one, not the public one by the main pool. I would call and verify with someone if the amenities are fixed before booking/or better yet, get in writing first.

Booked this hotel for 6 nights in April. As you first enter the hotel, you're hit with a strong smell of chemicals, which, as we later realized, are used to deal with a severe infestation problem. Our room (Eclipse 2) was absolutely filthy with hair everywhere on the floor, ceiling fans with years of dirt and dust on them, unwashed bed skirts (one of them had an old blood stain - wow!). The bathroom was very smelly and made the entire room smell like a dirty gas station bathroom. The toilet seat was broken, there was rust everywhere and under the sink there was a large old stain and a very musty smell. The tiny (completely useless) balcony was facing someone else's apartment. Mattresses are old, hard and lumpy with no life left in them. But to top it all off, we saw a giant 2.5 inch cockroach in the rooftop pool area that ran next to my husband's head as he was reclining on a couch. Plus another one in our room the next day. Having had enough, we decided to find another hotel and move out for the last 2 nights of our stay. After we talked to the hotel manager (Beatriz Vera) and described the issues, she was very apologetic and said that she would definitely approve the refund for the last 2 nights, as long as we contacted the third party from which we booked the hotel, first. The most disturbing part? The third party contacted the hotel multiple times, with no response, and eventually the manager replied refusing to approve the refund. What kind of a business what do that?

1) Adequate but lacking in many ways given the price: $270 per night. We stayed for 6 nights in the Sirena room in late January 2025.||2) The room is large but poorly utilized. Two small Mexican style leather chairs that are not particularly comfortable for sitting at for any extended period. A small leather-topped table with a large base that makes it awkward to put your legs under it. At least one upholstered chair with a standup lamp next to it would have been a nice feature. The lighting is very poor. Unless one sat awkwardly in bed near the low-lying bedside lamp, one would not be able to read after dark. The bed area has a single ceiling light in one corner that is very dimly lit. Other than the one lamp next to the bed, that was it. The light in front of the bathroom mirror is extremely poor. The shower light was not working. The balcony off of our room was not particularly useable given its size. The wood French doors onto the balcony needed a great deal of work as they closed with large gaps to the outside; during a torrential rain I imagine they would have allowed a decent amount of water into the room. Generally there was a lack of attention to details in the room. Generally there’s an artsy look to the room but it was sorely lacking in many ways.||3) When we arrived in the room there was only one chair in the room and no bar soap or hand soap. No Kleenex tissue. The chair and hand soap were addressed immediately by the charming Beatrice (very sweet).||4) The toilet did not always flush appropriately. The shower was decent (other than the fact that the light was out). Hot water came to the shower quickly but good luck getting hot water from the bathroom sink (I never waited long enough I suppose). The bathroom in particular needed lots of maintenance.||5) The mattress was very firm and comfortable. Some folks might find it too firm (I saw some comments to that effect).||6) The staff were pleasant. But they were not present very often. In a hotel this size (20 rooms?) the front desk should be staffed at all times. The front desk is closed from early evening to morning. I have no idea how we would reach anyone when the front desk was closed, especially if one had an emergency. Many of the folks who manned the front desk (when anyone was there) could not speak any English; that struck me as odd given that the vast majority of their guests were English speaking. There was no “Getting Familiar” literature with the room so one is left entirely lost as to various issues of staying in the hotel. There IS a sign in the room with WIFI connection info.||7) The commons area is very charming to look at but in the end somewhat lacking as well. The so-called upholstered furniture were just pieces of foam covered in fabric with a back that was too far back to be comfortable for sitting. The views are very nice from the dining and pool levels. The pool is more of a soaking pool. We didn’t use it.||8) The continental breakfast I guess met the definition of a continental breakfast but just barely. Coffee, a fruit plate and two pieces of toasted white Wonder bread with butter and jam. I am accustomed to continental breakfasts with a lot more options, including various pastries, especially in a hotel in this price range. We went out to Starbucks several mornings for more options.||9) The steep hill to the hotel was not a problem for us as we saw it as an opportunity to get in our daily constitutional (plus we are reasonably fit in our 70’s). One should be aware that there are approximately 235 steps from the Malecone to the hotel (we counted!). ||10) A serious concern of mine was egress in the event of a fire. The path to many rooms (including our own) is very circuitous (up stairs and then down stairs and then travelling to an adjacent building via a small bridge. The front desk confirmed that the only way of egressing from the building was from the single point of entry. If that path were blocked for any reason, one would be out of luck. I got a chance to look at the room beneath ours (which required yet another stairway down to access it, and because it was closer to the street, the windows were covered with bars. I would have been very nervous staying down there. In fairness, the hotel is nearly all solid masonry structure so a fire would no doubt spread less quickly. Another issue if one needed fast egress is that the main entry requires a key to EXIT; that is a very dangerous situation as in an emergency one might not have their key with them.||The experience of staying here was adequate but seriously lacking in various ways, especially given the price. There was nothing even remotely resembling a concierge service; perhaps that’s asking too much from a Mexican hotel. And the lack of coverage at the front desk was, in my mind, completely unacceptable. You do get old world charm here but that comes with many features that cry out for better maintenance and updating. We would not stay here again. There are many better options in Puerto Vallarta for the price.

I had some communication difficulties with this hotel from the states, but it turned out their Internet was cut. It still would be great if they monitor their email more closely however, upon arrival, it was a wonderful stay for our second time there. The room we stayed in was fantastic for myself, my daughter and my mom with two bedrooms and stunning views of Banderas Bay. We enjoyed the fireworks there for New Year’s Eve and the staff provided special drinks and 12 grapes for us to consume at midnight. Thank you!

We stayed in a room called Corizon 2 with a dedicated kitchen and dining area for one week. The things we liked: 1) Large room with comfortable beds 2) The three common areas were very clean. 3) The views of the ocean were stunning. Things we didn’t like: 1) Had to remind staff at least three times to clean our room and change the towels. 2) Our room was not clean compared to the common areas. We could tell the floors were not washed most of the time. 3) Had a cockroach and ants everywhere in our room. 4) Our dedicated patio was not clean enough to eat off of. 5) The patio was closed in, down a series of concrete steps, gravel walkway, bridge, and finally metal circular stairs into a dirty, musty smelling 'patio'. 6) Bathroom had a broken light, broken hot water knob in sink, and broken bathroom towel rack.

Nice boutique Hotel with a beautiful open rooftop and (small) rooftop pool with great views. The service was excellent and very friendly. Or room was clean, and common areas were cozy and relaxing.

Unfortunately, we will be leaving Expedia! The Owner of the property was willing to give a refund and I truly believe that there was no effort on your part. Not only did we loose money, Expedia didn’t be offer some kind of credit!! This is unacceptable! I’m a disabled veteran. There was no possible way to track up and down never mind the interior of the boutique that was not disabled friendly
