I have stayed at this hotel 4 years in a row and it has become worse every year. It's dirty, there were cockroaches in my bathroom, the hot water is brown, most of the amenities are broken, when the basic items break, they do not repair them (like the door handle to the room, the light in the bathroom, the non flushing toilet, or the faucet handle that comes off), they never have the items listed on their menu, the power is inconsistent, many of the lights don't work, and the staff have become very difficult to work with. I'm not sure if it's laziness, incompetence, or a combination of the two.
I don't mind that they required us to pay up front but they would not take the time to create our receipt. Despite the promise to have it ready by dinner time, it wasn't even ready before we went to sleep. And then in the morning the staff had apparently lost the receipt. Instead of creating a new one, they made us wait several hours as they "searched" for it. 30 minutes before it was even time to check out, one of the staff tried to make us leave our room so a new guest could check in. We refused since we were not ready to leave yet and had paid for the room.
I am honestly surprised that this hotel is still open. I'm guessing that the proximity to the airport and the airport shuttle are what's keeping the doors open. This will be the last time we stay at this place.
If any business people want to make an easy buck, just open up a small, high quality hotel near the Lungi airport with a free shuttle and you will have EVERY Westerner that comes to this country fighting over each other to give you their money. Someone please make this happen.
