got a bacon egg & cheese on a roll a few weeks ago at Luscious Market Deli. typically i associate a good bacon egg & cheese sandwich with gritty hole-in-the-wall bodegas and corner stores in nyc…memories are a helluva drug when it comes to food or just about anything. anyway Luscious Market Deli is not gritty or a hole-in-the-wall store…it’s a newish clean brightly lit deli / convenience store with a lot of pre-prepared food options, a variety of salad and hot/cold sandwich options, snacks, drinks and more. the bacon egg & cheese is made to order, of course—warm fluffy toasted roll sandwiching salt-n-peppered eggs, crispy bacon, melty Americano cheese and a touch of ketchup! took my breakfast to one of the many East Village garden-y seating areas and enjoyed the sandwich in the shade. it’s sometimes a thing as simple as a warm sandwich, good weather, and a breeze that foretells that the rest of the day is going to be just as good. anyway, the deli is a solid option for food and it does have a few seats by the window and on the sidewalk if you just want to eat immediately. the staff is friendly and accommodating. price of my sandwich + tax + tip felt a little high but they don’t skimp on the bacon etc on it so it feels like a fair trade for some tasty calories. have had the coffee, here, too and that was decent for deli coffee. all in all a good spot when you don’t want to cook!
