After taking a tour of the gardens and the home, it was clear to anyone why Luther Burbank was fascinated with plants. There were many flowers blossoming as well trees and bushes to be admired. The most lovely part of the area was the rose garden located in the front. I recommend taking the time to dress up because it is worth taking pictures here. Entry to the gardens & the museum is free to the public. There are guided tours ($12, $10.00 students/seniors, under 12 free.) Although there is no parking lot, it was not difficult to find street parking.

The Luther Burbank Home & Gardens in Santa Rosa is a peaceful and charming historic site that showcases the life and work of famed horticulturist Luther Burbank. Designed in a modified Greek Revival style, the home, greenhouse, and gardens reflect Burbank’s legacy of innovation, where he developed over 800 plant varieties, including the Shasta daisy and Russet Burbank potato. Visitors can explore lush gardens filled with labeled plants, walk through his original greenhouse, and view the cottage where he lived. The space is thoughtfully maintained, with free entry, guided tours available seasonally, and occasional events like plant sales and family days. While the atmosphere is tranquil and inspiring, there are a few practical notes to consider. The site does not have a dedicated parking lot, only free street parking, and there are no refreshments available onsite—so visitors should plan accordingly. Some parts of the property, like the museum, require a guided tour to access. Still, this hidden gem offers a unique opportunity to connect with local history, science, and nature. Supporting places like this helps preserve public heritage—just like getting a library card supports public libraries, visiting here helps keep local culture alive.

Google
Gardens were nice, but nothing worth making a special trip for. The house was unimpressive. Maybe if we'd gone inside and taken a tour, we'd feel different. We have something similar in our own town, that's maybe even nicer, so it was pretty underwealming.

Google
Beautiful historic gardens. And it’s free. Donations welcome.

Google
Definitely take a tour. Only way to go inside the house. The gardens can be seen without a tour (but included). Marti was an amazing guide. She knew so much! Tour was over an hour, she had so many stories and interesting information to share. By and far best docent I’ve had at any place, ever. Street parking. There is a small gift shop too.

Google
The Luther Burbank historical site was an awesome visit! Lots of cool information about the work Luther Burbank did throughout his life and the plants that he cared so much about! Really cool viewing all the different plants and hearing about all the history behind them! Definitely worth the visit if you're in the Santa Rosa area and are interested in history or plants or both. Luther's, burbanks, homes, gardens, you name it!🤟🏽😎👍🏽

Luther Burbank it's the Tesla of modern botany - you need to custom in person to appreciate the magic

Google
Once in your life you should visit and take the time to learn about the important work once done here. Horticulture has a lot of great minds and the Burbanks rank at the top. Take the house tour when it opens back up. Ask about Frida and Diego. I drop by most times that I'm in Santa Rosa. It's a beautiful garden with a beautiful park across the street. A lot of people come here to take wedding and quinceañera photos.

Yelp
I had never heard of Luther Burbank but as an avid flower photographer, it was meant to be this museum and garden was next to my hotel. Burbank was a horticulturist renowned for developing flower varieties and other botanical feats. His family lived in the area and this modest home has been turned into a garden; it's free to visit and walk around and certainly worth your time. The gardens are arrayed around the house, with pond (and turtle), plus benches and areas to sit and relax. There were people taking photos, others painting. There is a gift shop at the side, the attendants very welcoming. They have exhibits inside to learn more about the family. Of course they also have plants for sale. This is a must visit location in Santa Rosa.

Yelp
We were looking for a spot to hang out for a few hours and noticed this place. Initially, I did not know a lot about Luther Burbank, but after visiting, I learned so much and have a new found appreciation for all the work that goes into planting and farming and all the contributions Luther Burbank made in the agricultural sciences! I enjoyed my walk through the gardens, and learning about plants. If you read the signs and descriptive timeline displays, it could easily take you one to two hours to get through. I do wish some of the gardens were more well kept as it was at times harder to tell which plant was which. But do recommend taking children here because here is a beautiful fun educational spot, a historic site, and also a relaxing park and garden to visit..

Yelp
I've heard about these gardens for years and finally made it over on a mid April day. Luther Burbank home & gardens is a small, urban oasis of unique plants and history. I found street parking and to visit is free, at least for a self guided tour. Lots of flowers in bloom and there are plenty of places to sit and relax, soaking it in. The gift shop was open on my visit and it had some cute items. Small, but interesting little garden. I imagine it changes with the seasons and visitors may not always see it in bloom. Definitely plan a spring visit to check out all the colorful flowers. Nice way to stretch my legs and learn a bit about Luther Burbank and his contributions to the plant world.

Yelp
Great place to spend an hour! We wandered the grounds and read about Luther's life and dedication to his botany. We were here in early April so the roses have not bloomed yet. There's an option to take a tour, although we didn't go on it. We parked close by in the neighborhood, although this is close to the mall so you could park there if you can't find street parking.

Yelp
I have been driving by this place for years and finally went inside to take a tour this Saturday. I love gardens and science, so this place has been on my list for a while. I paid $10 for a docent led tour and enjoyed a lovely private tour with Tracey since there were no other takes at that moment. The docent led me around the ground, pointing out important, beautiful, and interesting plants. We got to go inside the original Burbank home where Luther Burbank, his mom Olive, sister Emma, and wife Elizabeth lived at one time or another. It was great to see the old photos, relics, and furniture in the home. The wood features inside have been lovingly preserved. I loved hearing about how he is buried on the property with no headstone except a now deceased cedar. I wish more people believed in this type of burial. This man lived a beautiful and interesting life.

Yelp
I just loved his version of "Superstar". Oh wait, this wasn't Luther Vandross' house? Never mind. Perhaps Luther Burbank could carry a tune, but I do know he was a world-class botanist since he spent half a century nurturing the flora here. After all, he was responsible for developing the plumcot and the freestone peach among other unique fruit and plants, several of which are on display here. Unfortunately his home has been closed due to pandemic restrictions which leaves the relatively small garden area left to peruse. I'm sure horticulturists could go on and on about the plants on display here. The good news is that it's free to enjoy any afternoon. RELATED - Exploring north of San Francisco? Yelp
Awesome place to learn about Luther Burbank and his history and accomplishments. The garden was just starting to bid out for spring but had some flowers already. The house opening is seasonal and so that wasn't open but you can walk through the park and enjoy the grounds. Nice way to take a little break and check out some plants and walk the park. I learned some history from the displays. You only need about 30 min if your parking at the meters, which looked like the only option unless you try and park in a neighborhood and walk in from there. But there are parking spots with meters around the outside.

Yelp
This is a lovely garden to stroll around and enjoy all the colorful plants and flowers. It's quite diverse with cactus, fuchsia, dahlias, rose garden, wildflowers, fruits, trees, and a small pond with fountain. I'd been here a few times before I took a tour, which was really helpful to learn about Luther Burbank and his work. He was quite impressive and served as a botanist, horticulturist, and a pioneer in agricultural science developing many different strains and varieties of plants. One of his developments was white blackberries which were present in the garden. Someone into botany would LOVE this place and be able to spend a long time looking at all the plants and reading every label. It's close off the freeway so easy to stop by on detour if driving through on the 101 or only a half mile walk from the mall for a break from shopping.

Yelp
Are you a major potato nerd? Maybe you really like plants? Then this place is the home and garden you need to visit! The garden is open from 8am to dusk everyday, and they have tours Tues-Sun (1-3:30pm). I recommend the $10 tour as you'll get to see the inside of the first floor and the green house (second floor is not open). If not, you can walk around the garden for free and do the phone tour to learn about the different plants. I really enjoyed learning about the different plants Burbank worked on and learned some interesting history about the man who created the Russet Burbank potato.

Yelp
I was looking up things to do in Santa Rosa and decided to take my mom here because she loves flowers. I really didn't know what to expect, but this gorgeous garden and historical home really impressed me. I was amazed by all of the breathtaking flowers, especially considering the warmer July weather. I saw many plants that I've never seen before, such as the enigmatic Puya. Parking on a Saturday afternoon was super easy right on Santa Rosa Ave. We saw signs about the cellphone tour you can take, but I couldn't find the number--turns out you need to go to the house first where there is a giftshop and signs with the phone number for the self guided tour. No matter, we enjoyed meandering around the garden using Google lens to look up plants. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! A must for anyone visiting Santa Rosa.

Yelp
Our first visit was a couple months ago while waiting for our daughter who lives here to get off work so we could take a short road trip together. She told us about it so we brought our lunch and ate half way through our garden walk in a bench in front of a water feature. So much beauty. And so peaceful considering it's near a busy street. So many flowers throughout as well as rich history. The gift shop wasn't open (bummer) then or today but each visit we've bought some seedlings/plants they have sitting out for sale. There is a way to pay via PayPal and the plants are in great shape as well as labeled. And very inexpensive. We didn't do the cell phone tour but that would be interesting maybe next time. It's raining today so we just stopped by to see the plants and left with so many for only $12. Sadly our daughter is moving away but we will be back whenever we are nearby. It's a free must see place to visit if you're into plants, flowers or history. Or a peaceful spot to chill for a bit.

Yelp
There are right places, for the right people. This is a very prime example of that. Unless you are passionate about plants and horticulture, this may not be the best place to visit. Yet, if you are one of those people that gets excited by a white blackberry plant or a thornless cactus, there will be plenty of magic in this small garden. Perhaps an even bigger attraction than the plants themselves here, is the remarkable story of Luther Burbank and the hybrids he created. At times to ward off disease, at times to make something more beautiful, productive or tasty, the creations of this legendary figure are truly spectacular. It was probably hard for him to know the level of misuse and implications that his brilliant work would have after his death by mega corporations, controls of seeds and eradication of native species. But, that is the culprit of innovation. An invention that is substantial enough, even with the best intention, will have both positive and negative history altering affects for centuries after the inventor's death. The garden here is tiny, but has very cool specimens and the true attraction is the combination of the ground where this man worked, the interesting plants that are still here and the story. Although house is closed during the pandemic, the garden is certainly worth a visit for the right minded persona.

Yelp
Amazing! Exceeded my expectations. Love all the details in the house and now I am very interested in reading books about Luther Burbank and his work. Excellent informative docents.

Yelp
Living in Marin, I don't often have the chance to come up this way on a whim, but when we had a lunch engagement nearby my wife and I decided to pull over on a side street and stroll through this lovely park. If you don't know about Luther Burbank look him up, an amazing botanist who brought us an amazing array of new hybrids and varieties of veggies, roses, herbs, perennials, and more. The gardens encompass his old home and farm, and include a number of benches where you can literally just stop and smell the flowers. Ahh. You can also enjoy a curated 'cell phone' tour - call the number listed and walk from station to station to learn about the park, the house, his work, and the man himself. In SR? Got ten minutes to kill? C'mon over and de-stress a while.

Yelp
Luther Burbank may have been the nation's greatest horticulturist. He created more than 800 varieties of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Ponder that for a moment. He was also responsible for developing the Russett Burbank, the state potato of Idaho served up as bakers and as McDonald's French fries. It has been around since 1902. Some of his other breakthroughs include the Shasta daisy, a scented calla lily, a spineless cactus and a plum without a stone. His home and gardens are a gem and it's easy to imagine Burbank working here. He also entertained fellow luminaries such as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Roy Firestone. There is no charge to wander the grounds. From early spring through October, there are docent-led tours of the house and grounds. There is no parking available at the house but there is street parking in the neighborhood.

Yelp
The gardens and museum in the carriage house are free to the public during hours of operation. For $10 adult pricing, you can go on a docent lead tour of the house, green house, and garden. I passed on that because we were pressed for time. But chat up the docents, Jean was lovely to talk to. She was a talker, so enthusiastic. Awesome, considering she probably tells the same stories and facts all day long. You would never realized. But this nifty place is the site of Luther Burbank's last home complete with his garden and greenhouse. The full grandeur of his estate is dwindled down to a compact area containing a carriage house, house, greenhouse, respectable size garden and green area complete with benches and a few picnic tables. Checkout the massive sprawling spineless cacti. It grew in a way that there is a little cave like enclave in the center, great selfie opp. Rose garden was not in bloom when I visited bit I can imagine it being spectacular when it is. Beautiful green lawn with a water fountain pond feature. Luther Burbank was a world renown horticulturalist that invented over 800 strains/variants of fruit, vegetable, flower, grass, and grain seed types such as the Burbank russet potato (which is more blight resistant than the other potatoes of its time...he created it in response to the Irish Europe potato famine). The current Russet is a variant from his strain. His other credits include Shasta daisy and plumcot. He was also a businessman ( operating a seed catalog) & farmer. I learned about his work and life from the illustrated mini history boards in the garden. Pretty nifty. They have no parking lot, street parking only. So worth a visit if you are in the area.

Yelp
Had fun doing the scavenger hunt here while the gardens are open to the public during COVID. We found 23+ sites! Learned lots about Burbank and what he's accomplished in horticulture. Fun way to engage the toddler. We spent a good hour here, did parts of audio tour too.

Pat W.

Yelp
Wonderful gardens to stroll. It's small but very informative. Burbank was a horticulturalist and developed many plants that I cherish in my own garden. I never knew anything about Burbank before our visit today.

Yelp
The Luther Burbank Home & Gardens was one of the highlights of my trip. I would definitely recommend visiting the Gardens, & the Home is very interesting as well. I can not believe I had never heard of this man, until I came to see his gardens. Everyone (especially if you live in the Santa Rosa area), should know about this man. He has contributed so much to the current produce & flowers we enjoy today. It is amazing the variety of plants & diverse gardens they are able to squeeze into the 1.6 acres they have there. And you can take an audio tour of the gardens on your cell phone for free! There is no reason not to do it. We also took the guided tour of his Home, which is totally worth it. Our guide (Marcie, I believe?), was such a fount of knowledge about him & his family . . I was very impressed. My other favorite part of the Home tour is that they have the actual belongings of Mr. Burbank! Most museums just use period reproductions; we were able to see his actual personal photos, books, furniture & even kitchenware! It is a gem right in the middle of town.

Raylee M.

Yelp
After calling several times to get info on times open I drove to see this garden that was historic And beautiful. The voicemail clearly did not say when they would be open. They gave info on tours only. I have to say the grounds were lovely but not cared for as I would expect. I believe this home and garden is owned by the city. There were several homeless people in garden area which was disappointing and very sketchy. I will not go back. They never return phone calls..,

Yelp
If you go on a tour to Luther Burbank Home and Garden it's $4pp. If you pay the $4 you can see the inside of the home with a docent, check out the greenhouse, walk around the garden; otherwise save your money and check out the garden for FREE. Nice rose garden. We went 9/10/05 and the roses are still nice. Go for the garden.

Yelp
Luther Burbank Home&Gardens is a gem in downtown Santa Rosa. It's an urban oasis. In contrast to the barren concrete of the "new" Courthouse Square, the Home&Gardens are living, growing things. In late summer, the fruits, vegetables, flowers were flourishing. Tomatoes ripening on the vines, roses in full bloom, Shasta daisies in their brilliance (tho they smell terrible) Burbank was a horticultural innovator- crossing plums&apricots, developing hardier potatoes. The self-guided tour is excellent. One can easily spend hours in contemplation. There's a pleasant little gift shop, as well as a mini-museum with a mystery of its own (and friendly docents). A mural prominently displays Luther Burbank's historic meeting with Firestone (inventor of tires)&Thomas Edison. Everyone in the photo is identified- except for a woman simply labeled "#6". Not the typically morbid Jane Doe mystery- in the photo, she is very much alive, but she is nameless. It's like finding family photos with unidentified people. The parking at the Home&Gardens can be tricky, since it lacks its own lot. There's parking along the main drag, Santa Rosa/Mendocino Avenue. However, there are side streets, and the Burbank Gardens neighborhood only has 2 hour limits on weekdays. On weekends, not so much of a hassle. Plus the $10 tour price (along with gift shop) prices are reasonable. A haven in the midst of downtown Santa Rosa. Interesting trivia- Frida Kahlo&Diego Rivera stopped by the Home&Gardens in the 30s, meeting with Burbank's widow, Elizabeth Waters- https://www.pressdemocrat.com/news/8660240-181/never-before-seen-photos-of-luther-burbank?sba=AAS Kahlo would later make a portrait of Burbank, depicting him as rooted in the Earth.

Yelp
Beautiful small estate to enjoy the outdoors and gardens and learn some things along the way. Everything was not in bloom yet however so best to wait until a little later in slek

Yelp
We had the park to ourselves on a chilly but sunny February morning. The house was closed for the season (darn!) but we spent a lovely hour walking through the grounds and learning about Mr. Burbank. The gigantic cactus is simply awesome, and the wide variety of plants and trees on this plot are amazing. What an amazing career and legacy Lurther had; we are so glad that the city of Santa Rosa has preserved this spot for the education and enjoyment of future generations.

Yelp
Quiet, peaceful, diverse and well maintained garden near downtown Santa Rosa. The site includes a Welcome/Information/Tour Center and walking guides. The attention to details here is amazing. Laid out in depth and layers, as you walk around here your eyes will dance around finding something new and interesting. Complimented by the sounds from a large fountain, you will soon be in a more peaceful spot internally. Everything here that a garden should be. Very highly recommended.

Yelp
Pro - If you visiting Santa Rosa and want to check out something quick and beautiful, this is the place to do it at. I even saw a mother peacock with babies walking by. :) It's free to go in and they even have a phone number you can call to get a guided tour. If you want to check out more including going inside the house with a tour guide that cost extra. Con - The only compliant is since this place is not staffed with an exception of one staff working upstairs, this place also attract some homeless people there. I noticed they just there to use the restroom, look around, or rest. Overall - I was expecting it to have more and bigger but it's only one acre. There's no parking lot so you have to park on the street. It's only 2 hours parking but that's enough to check out the entire place. :) I recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Just decided to come in as I was walking to downtown Santa Rosa. A cute little garden with a mini waterfall and plants all around. It was a pretty garden with beautiful landscape. Great place for taking photos. I would come back again just to relax and take in the nature.
google avatar

Yelp
Disappointing , as it was too early for the bloom, but this place seems disheveled in its current form. Hope when the covid bs subsides it makes a turnaround.
google avatar

Mandy L.

Yelp
This little gem in downtown showed me the wonderous beauty of the "tower of jewels" ecchium. The garden is not too big, but it is a fun little get away just at the end of down town and before you hit the super seedy part of Santa Rosa Avenue. It would be interesting to know what the street was like way back when. Hmmm..... Anyway, I think this is a good place to soak up some local culture, see some beautiful plants and literally stop and smell the roses-there is an amazing rose garden when in season.
google avatar

Nicholas T.

Yelp
A must stop for a taste of Santa Rosa history. Drop in tours are from Tuesday-Sunday 10am-3:30pm. Adults $7, kids are free. There is a free audio tour of the grounds as well. We really enjoyed strolling around the grounds and looking at plants and flowers from the obvious genius of Luther Burbank. The man was a master of horticulture & really was a pioneer of creating new plant species. He created all kinds of new fruits by grafting. Great for an after lunch walk. Not the best surrounding neighborhood, some questionable people can wander in. For any kind of plant enthusiast or local history buff the place will not disappoint.
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience here yesterday. The staff was so nice and very informative, I left there feeling like I really learned a lot about some of our American history and plant species. I took the $10 tour along with my son (who was free) walked through the gardens, the house and in the greenhouse. There is also a cute little gift shop in the carriage house. I definitely would recommend somebody coming to do this, especially with children for a fun but educational day outside. Even if you don't take the tour the grounds are free and gorgeous. I would go early in the day as parking isn't the best situation be sure to have some extra change for the meters.

Matt M.

Yelp
Nice "park" to visit and we certainly enjoined it even in the middle of winter. Awesome that they had loads of kiwis set out for the taking. Will definitely be back when all's in bloom and highly recommend. Certainly worth the hour-long drive to get there. Lots to learn about too and they have very informative signage - even a phone number to call that provides a recorded walking tour.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful gardens and home that show you just how many different innovations Burbank made in the field of horticulture. I like that many of his hybrids are on display, showing the man's work in action. The garden is well taken care of, so even if you don't feel like learning about the immense amount of history in the garden, you can still just enjoy a quiet stroll through. I feel like every time I come here, I learn that he created yet another plant item that we take for granted these days.
google avatar

Yelp
No dogs allowed! Sorry Snoopy! It wouldn't be that bad except the woman wasn't nice at all about telling us and afterward she watched us until we were off the property. Not good guest experience.
google avatar

Patti T.

Yelp
If you are in Santa Rosa, stop here to tour the gardens. The signage in the gardens and information in the brochure will introduce you to Luther Burbank, his life, and his contributions to horticulture and agriculture. The gardens were off-peak during our visit, but we had a positive, worthwhile experience. Guided tours are led by volunteers. Our tour lasted 1 hour 20 minutes. The first 45 minutes were through the gardens, and largely repeated information in the signage.

Yelp
This is a great spot to check out near downtown Santa Rosa. It's free to take a walk around the garden and check out the little museum. The gardens are gorgeous, especially the rose garden in the front. The gardens have a self-guided audio tour available and there's also plenty of information about the plants on sign posts all around. This is a very peaceful spot if you just want to hang out in beautiful place. If you also want to have a tour, the docents in the museum are very knowledgeable and give tours basically whenever there are people who want one. It's $10 and it's cheaper for students and seniors and free for kids. I liked the tour because I was able to learn more about Luther Burbank's life, his accomplishments, and his legacy. During the tour, you also visit the inside of his house, which his wife lived in for many years after his death. The furnishings inside are really interesting and unique. Mrs. Burbank collected a lot of interesting tiles which are scattered around the house. You also get to see Burbank's greenhouse and hear stories about the Burbank family. He was a really innovative and interesting person. Before visiting this museum, I had no idea he was considered one of the great "wizards" of the late 19th century, an inventor on par with Edison and Ford, whom he met. His creations were horticultural, and in the garden you can see a lot of the interesting varieties of plants that he cultivated including the Shasta daisy and the nearly spineless cactus. This is a great place for history buffs, people interested in gardening or science, and people who appreciate the beauty of plants.

Yelp
I love to walk through these gardens throughout the different seasons. It is usually peaceful and they are maintained well. Every season there is something new to look at. The rose gardens have never impressed me much but their dahlias and succulents are really nice. These gardens are even nicer that it is open year round so it is great for a quick stroll.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
We learned a lot visiting this place. The history of Burbank is very interesting if you like horticulture and plants. We also took a docent led tour of the house which was $10 per adult. The docent did a good job and was very knowledgeable.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice gardens, and a nice house. The greenhouse is worth looking at; it survived the 1906 earthquake without losing a single pane of glass. Luther Burbank is buried on the grounds. We enjoyed what remains of the Luther Burbank estate. What was a legend, even part of the English language, now seems long ago and far away. The gardeners are doing all they can to collect and display his creations, but they are not sure they have the right specimens in many cases. Apparently, Luther Burbank did not keep many notes, and what he created is elusive today. He was a nurseryman and a breeder first, and a scientist a distant second. The rose garden was very pretty in July, and the "touching garden" was a real delight of texture and scent. I picked up a plant list from the edible landscape garden for my own notes. The guided tour, while not exactly a Disney production, was well worth the $5 ticket.

Yelp
Santa Rosa is a great place to walk around! I came across Luther Burbank Home & Gardens on Yelp and decided to stop by. I knew ahead of time that not much was in bloom but decided to go anyway. Because it wasn't peak season, I had the place to myself. The poppies and a few other flowers were blooming. I found it to be a peaceful place. There was a waterfall as shown in the pictures and that was running. There were a few benches and picnic tables scattered around. I'd love to stop by again when everything is in full bloom but it was a nice stop while walking around the city to have a bit of quiet time.

Yelp
What a lovely hidden gem. It's right in the middle of the ghetto in Santa Rosa but once you walk through the white picket fence you completely forget that fact. They have a huge cactus, blooming rosé bushes and of course hundreds of photo opportunities. And even better.... It's free! I like to stop by before a movie and appreciate the beauty that Sonoma county has to offer.

Yelp
I really liked this place so much, that I used to come here weekly and bring my lunch, when I used to work downtown at the paper. It's best when it's not overrun by tourists, as all places are. Seasonally, there's a gorgeous rose garden on one part of the property. There are also guided tours on the weekends. They even have plant sales during the summer as well. In different parts of the park, they cultivate a variety of colorful flowers and plants. There's also a greenhouse you can take a look at too. And don't miss the museum!

Yelp
Enjoyed a wonderful day at the gardens with my family! Today was the Chosen Spot Plant Expo, with various flowers and vegitation for sale, plenty of space on the lawn for a BYO picnic, tour of the garden, rose smelling competition, dancing, bug hunt and display, and clay pot painting! We even got to plant our own sunflowers! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable, and even though it was an overcast day it was perfect for taking pictures! There are such a variety of life in the gardens to admire, and plenty with the days activities to keep the kids entertained.

Yelp
I work and used to live near this place, but I never get sick of browsing the gardens. It's a great place to get photos. The home, the greenhouse, the flowers, the roses on the arches, cacti, etc.

Yelp
Enjoyed my visit to this historic landmark. Learned about the history and the amazing horticulture. Took several photos to share. The gardens are amazing. http://www.flickr.com/photos/wdunby/sets/72157635243902154/

Yelp
There is a house with surrounding garden in this small park memorial. We spent 45 minutes walking around the grounds reading the signs, observing the plants, and petting a cat. The grounds have great informational signs and tributes to Luther, amazing fellow and although he passed away in the roaring 20s, his legacy remains because his contributions to agriculture were so amazing and prolific. A great place for a short visit.

Yelp
Been here a bunch of time for photo ops but finally took some time to look around and be a tourist. When I discovered that you couldn't get into the house without being part of the tour, I said "the heck with that!" I marched right into the carriage house and paid the tour. $7 pp= deal! Not only did we get a personalized tour (they ask you how much time you have available), but if you ask the right questions, you might learn some stuff about the hometown hero that you might not find in any memoirs.

Yelp
This is an interesting and little known place in Santa Rosa. I am only giving 3 stars because no matter how interesting of a place it is, it is about plants, and I don't find that as interesting as other people seem to. The place offers a free cellphone audio tour, and you can learn all about Luther Burbank's life. He was a very influential pioneer in the creation of hybrid plants, and there are some specimens there that I had never seen or heard of. It is just nice to get outside and walk around a bit, plus the place is free, and only donation based. It is well maintained, and a good place to check out, and I learned a lot about an impressive and inspiration man I had known nothing about before.
