Lutter & Wegner Bad Gastein

Wow, what an experience! We were a group of 3 and discovered this hidden gem only at the end of our vacation. We ordered the wild boar with Austrian dumplings, which was incredible juicy and tasty. The suggestion of Karin, our waitress, for a matching wine was also a hit, so I'm happy to recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for top notch local cuisine off the usual tourist track. Note aside, we went there the next day again!

Very awesome place which is special to me (first business I visited upon leaving the US for the first time ever 6 years ago). Food is creative and delicious. Last night I had one of the best meals I can remember: the beef with the green spinach sauce. Perfection. The service and drinks are also on point. I love the aesthetics of the place, very classic and old school. If you go in the daytime, it has the best balcony view of Bad Gastein in the city (if you are not afraid of heights". Highly recommend.

Sitting outside will grant a great view but the noise coming from the waterfall is annoying and makes conversation a little harder. The food was not the best but as promised from the menu. The food was ridiculously overpriced and the amount you get for your money is disappointing. We came in a group of eleven and saw others come and go before we even got our meals so don't expect a fast service unless you are eating as a couple. Overall we can not recommend this restaurant.

Luckily we discovered this amazing restaurant at our last night of the holiday in Bad Gastein. We definitely whished we had discovered it before. The staf were our stars of the night and really made our holiday complete. Advising us the best wines combining to the delicious looking and tasting food, big compliments to the chef! After finishing dessert we even ordered a second main course, because I was still curious at their risotto. This place had the best looking and tasting dishes we could found in whole Bad Gastein and not forget the amazing view you have from the terrace. We are very happy with your effort and hope to get back some time soon. Thank you G. we will never forget you.

Fantastic dinner by Chef Werner! Everything was perfect, from the Welcome plate of shaved speck with a light horseradish sour cream to the Appel Strudel!

Amazing apple strudel and kaisermarren. Wife and I got one each and shared with latte and hot tea! We were in Bad Gastein in late May.

This place is extraordinary. This villia is one of the best examples of Beaux-Arts architecture in Bad Gastein. Pretty much every one of the nine rooms is a suite of some kind--we ended up in the Prince Rohan Suite on the ground floor, full of dark-wood paneling, mahogany wardrobes and a real, key-driven safe hidden behind the mirror. We loved lounging in the parlour next door, chatting to the nine other guests, with tables set up for letter-writing or a quick rubber of Whist. Your hosts are exceptionally accommodating and will extend you every courtesy. But the real reason you should stay here is the restaurant. The Lutter & Wegner wine merchants from Berlin run it, and the food is exquisite without being pretentious. Needless to say, the wine list is top notch. Dine on the terrace overlooking the rapids if you can. And I must say, the prices for both room and food were surprisingly modest, for the quality of both. Bad Gastein is a fascinating town, too. Many of the grand buildings are being renovated, while others have fallen on hard times. With the ghosts of Schumann, Grillparzer and Otto von Bismarck stalking about, it comes across as a little Victorian-style creepy, in an amusing way. Heartily recommended.

Excellent food. Bad Gastein has many poor restaurants but this one has class. Highly recommended and not very expensive.
