It is a great experience to have had our dinner. Very fine and great tastes. Croquettes are amazing, their pumpkin dish is also amazing. We got the sea board and each one of the pieces we tasted were amazing too. Highly recommended. If one day your path crosses Holbox, this is a must-come place for a great dinner experience.

Google
This place is nice, but it seems to aim too much at Tulum’s upscale crowd, which doesn’t really match the island’s vibe, in my opinion. The food is good and the dishes are refined, but it’s a bit pricey and feels more like a sit-down dinner spot that doesn’t quite fit here — at least not yet. I won’t give it a bad rating, because you can see the effort, but it just wasn’t really my vibe.

Google
Had an amazing dinner here! Our server Nino (don't hold me to the spelling) was very attentive. And they asked up front if we had allergies (which was good since my lady has an onion allergy). We started off with the octopus, and coconut shrimp appetizers, along with fish throat and chichiron appetizer. All were fantastic! Main course we did the whole fish, with the homemade corn tortillas (I am used to crappy US corn tortillas, and normally avoid. But they got me liking these!). Dessert was a chocolate ganache with rosemary bread chips, and a passion fruit ice cream and shortbread. Both of those were mind-blowing! I've continued to be super impressed with the culinary skills here on Holbox!

We actually stumbled across Luuma and wandered in, pre dinner... we just intended to sit a the bar and enjoy a drink and the ambiance. GREAT ambiance. Service was very attentive. Note a bit expensive for Holbox. The dining area appeared fairly full and looked good, we did not eat. Just drinks. Bar was full, which we enjoyed as you don't see that set up often in MX and the bar actually had peeps too actually sitting there at the bar 😅

Google
I think the concept here is really amazing and fun. Lots of time went into curating the menu, both for food and drinks and there is quite a lot of funky stuff going on that many US restaurants may not dare try, so appreciate that. The garden was also so well designed and played out the overall experience here is amazingly chill and cool. With that, for the prices you pay to eat here one would expect all food to hit the mark but will admit the pumpkin dish did not. Sadly it was not fully cooked through so was basically eating raw pumpkin. The land was good, but also the lobster dumplings tasted kind of funky but they had this nice lobster bisque flavored sauce beneath to make it taste worthwhile. Would visit for a cocktail and to hang out but I think AMA is a much better choice in terms of food. Service was great!

Google
The food we ordered was great and the smoothies were delicious. I wish there was a little bit more in terms of options for food (we ate there for breakfast) but the atmosphere was 10/10. And I would definitely go back. Our waiter was also very friendly.

Google
The food was good, but nothing special for the price. I believe it is overhyped. The ambiance and setting of the restaurant is what makes it worth it. Staff was nice and helpful too. The passion fruit soda is one of the best I’ve had!

Google
The food was delicious although we did feel as though the waitress was trying to upswell us on everything. Three dishes was plenty food for one person while we were recommended 4-5 per person. Highly recommend the panko shrimp and the Vietnamese spring rolls! The waitress didn’t really come check on us much, sadly. However, the food was delicious and the ambiance was quite lovely. Not many drink options and cocktails were specialty drinks with not many non-alcoholic options, such as sodas or mixers, available.

Yelp
After reading all the reviews we just had to try Luuma. We showed up around 6:30 and were the only table. It started filling up quickly around 7. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about all menu items including craft cocktails. We went with her recommendations on cocktails and they were amazing. We had to get the Earth Board. It was enough for 2 people. The flavors of the duck, Argentinian sausages, and steaks made us both mmmmm after each bite. It also came with fried potatoes and a delicious salad. We finished the experience with tequila shot! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Lumma is a MUST while in Holbox. Though it's not beachside dining, you will take comfort in dining on beach sand surrounded by beautiful foliage, great tunes, and lighting. As soon as you take your seat, don't waste time - order a margarita (both Mezcal- and tequila-based). The next abosulte must are the shrimp tacos... our gals were gushing about them for days. Days, y'all. The soft shell crab tacos are good too, but something about those shrimp tacos. Presentation is a major part of the experience there, and while the guacamole plate dressed with black charcoal is IG-worthy, it wasn't the best in flavor. Skip if you can, but again, get the shrimp tacos!

Yelp
Wow, this place is a must go on Holbox! The ambiance, the service, the food is all outstanding! We had a bunch of tapas to share and they were all delicious. Specific reviews below 1. Fish croquettes - definitely worth getting and we really enjoyed them 2. Shrimp empanada - really delicious and would get again 3. Octopus empanada - not as good as the shrimp one, and I love octopus, but will definitely eat again 4. Shrimp kebab - really good. It's not a kebab, but as the menu states, it's shrimp in a pita. It's got great flavor and would definitely order again 5. Basil and garlic chicharron - really good flavors if you like chicharron 6. Lamb taco - good but wouldn't necessarily order again personally All in all a terrific restaurant they my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to try on Holbox and would definitely go back again!

Yelp
This is the best atmosphere in Holbox. The music is fantastic and the food is very good. But, the cocktails are where this place shines. Rebeca is a fantastic bartender and mixologist. We had dinner here one night but made sure to finish our nights here on the others because we loved their bar and drinks that much. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This restaurant is a whole experience. The food was amazing, drinks were amazing and service was truly spectacular. Bathrooms are clean as well. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
SO amazing. We ate here twice during our 5 day visit to Holbox! Probably the best (more upscale) dining on the island. The lamb tacos are unmatched and I loved the fish croquettes but the real highlight are their sharing boards- we had the Earth Board in our second night, which had probably the best duck I've ever had in my life. The drinks are awesome- we had cocktails our first night there and a bottle of great wine on our second night there. This place will be somewhere I go every time I'm in Holbox!

Yelp
First time on island . We read the reviews and gave it a try. We arrived at 6:00 which is early ... we were greeted by a friendly host and promptly seated. The decor the vibe really gets you in the relax mode and this spot doesn't disappoint. Cocktails were on point unique and flavorful . The shrimp Empanadas, egg rolls , pancetta , fish croquettes all full of flavor and tasty. Presentation was so unique . Highly recommend this spot ... will return in the future. It was packed and a line when we left.

Yelp
Cute tapas restaurant that only serves local products. Very unique menu & cocktails. Everything was delicious & the service was good.

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by another couple that was staying at the hotel. We had already been on the island for a couple of days and had not had any great meals until ...we came here. The food was so fresh and tasty. The cauliflower tacos were my favorite! They were crispy and light! And came inside of a freshly made tortilla topped with broccoli sprouts with this delectable aioli on the side. My bf loved the fish burger which was made of sea-bass and had this lovely sauce with grilled onions mixed with mustard seeds smeared on the bottom bun, it was overflowing with avocado and tomatoes and it tasted just divine. Highly recommend a lunch here!

Yelp
Very aesthetically pleasing and just a vibe! Servers are attentive and ready to provide recommendations on food and drinks. The only downside here is the portions, flavor was there but it's not a place you want to go for dinner. Our group and 6 was left hungry even after ordering 2+ "dishes" each. Price doesn't match the portions.

Yelp
This place is highly recommended by us. We had a great time and the service was very nice. The food was great as well. I recommend try Oanh all the smaller sampler foods. Finally the drinks are very unique and very tasty delicious.

Yelp
One of our favorite dinners in Holbox. (Possibly number one for my wife.) We came and got six tapas: the lamb taco, octopus black empanada, spring rolls, pork pancetta, chaya croquettes, and the basil/garlic chicharron. The lamb taco was our favorite, but we really loved every dish. (I was originally skeptical of the spring rolls, but they were amazing too.) Always busy, and for good reason. My wife also loved her mezcal cocktail.

Yelp
fish. croquettes. ahhhh. luuma definitely serves tulum vibes and offers fantastic food in tapas style. hubs and i ordered 5 items to share and we left beyond satisfied. our favorite was definitely the fish croquettes, the shrimp kebob pita came close second. service was great, and price point is absolutely reasonable for the quality of food and service. luuma means "mother earth" in mayan, and they center all food and beverage around natural ingredients, and they delivered. we wished we had tried some of the cocktail offerings but we didn't :( will definitely need to next time :) p.s. be sure to mosquito proof yourself, if not, they have off sprays available for guests.

Yelp
Luuma is a higher-end dinner option with a connection to Hotel Casa las Tortugas. My husband and I had dinner there on the first and final nights of our recent five night vacation in Holbox. On the first night, we were each treated to a complimentary cocktail as part of our hotel welcome. The cocktails were straight from the menu; I had the mayahuel with mezcal while my husband had the midsummer with gin. Both were well balanced and delicious! The ambiance at Luuma is so pretty; it's open air seating with lots of twinkling lights, greenery and natural decor. Our service on both evenings was great. On both nights, we started with some of the small plates and finished with the whole fish. The small plates we tried were: fish croquettes, springrolls, shrimp empanada, and shrimp kebab. All were very nice! The whole fish was excellent on both evenings; well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, easy to de-bone and more than enough food for two people. The fish was served with tortillas and a generous side of fried potatoes, peppers and onions. The hot sauce provided on the side was perfect. Overall, a great place for a nice meal in a beautiful setting!

Yelp
Loved this place, creative food, super cool vibe, excellent service. Very romantic and pretty

Yelp
It is a very trendy looking restaurant adjacent to a fancy boutique. We ordered drinks and fried foods to share like croquettes, shrimp, octopus, some sort of Indian root type food, chocolate cheese dessert and passion fruit coconut pie. The cocktails were tasty but the food was mediocre. The service was friendly and helpful. It took about ten minutes to get a table on a Friday night, and they sent us to their sister beach restaurant for drinks which ended up having better options for food from the other two restaurants in the Hotel Casa de las Tortugas. One of the other restaurants has grilled/roasted food and the other one has Japanese/fusion food.

Yelp
My husband and I are honeymooning on Isla holbox and have had the most wonderful time! We had walked past LUUMA on the first night and decided that we had to give it a try. We walked straight from the beach after sunset to grab a couple chairs at the bar. Knowing that it would be packed within an hour, we were feeling fortunate to have made that choice. The bartenders are so much fun to watch! Sitting at the bar gave us such a cool view of the entire restaurant. I drank wine and my husband had a few coladas. We shared some tapas that were wonderful! The pork was our favorite. Eating sustainably is important to us, so it was so nice that the ingredients were local and fresh. My only complaint and something that the staff should be more aware of is gluten sensitivities. For such a trendy spot, I thought there would be more knowledge about which items were safe for me to eat. TIP: My husband and I started to walk back to our hotel and the rain began. We remembered that over half of the restaurant is uncovered at LUUMA and was definitely getting rained on. Like a big rain! Keep that in mind when you are choosing your table. Rains can come and go on the island without much notice.

Yelp
If your looking for quality fine dining, this is it! I tried duck for the first time here and actually liked it. Everything' I tried here was just a delicious experience. Very unique and delicious food!

Talin C.

Yelp
Read some great reviews so I wanted to try this place for dinner with my family. The service was excellent as they explain everything to you even what Luuma meant (Luuma in mayan means earth). Anyhow, went there for dinner and I was very excited to see the beautiful decor, the music, and best of all they do tapas (so I get to try everything!). However,It was such a terrible experience because first the prices are out of this world for the quality of food you get, second the food was just bland and had zero flavor and third you can't see what you're eating. I did several tapas and one seafood bowl. Honestly, skip this place if you can. The food has zero taste but if you are there for just drinks and hanging out it's a 5 star.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely stunning location! I was only here briefly as this is where my whale shark excursion meeting point was, but we did get to enjoy a complimentary breakfast and the facilities. It's sort of tucked away behind greenery and when you walk in, it's like you're transported to a secret beach lounge area. Very green and feels secluded and special. The bathrooms are very clean and neatly appointed. Very beautiful setting all around. Wish I would have gone back for dinner or drinks. Next time!

Yelp
No need to come here, there are plenty of restaurants on the island that have better service and food. They do not take reservations, but claim to take reservations once you are done paying the check in order for you to leave. Every other restaurant on the island is chill, except this place. They think they are exclusive, and claim everything plus the beers are local but the beers were from New Zealand..hmmm. Be sure to finish your drinks and food before paying and filling out their mandatory review portal otherwise they will kick you out and wait at the table until you leave.
google avatar

Divya C.

Yelp
I wouldn't bother coming here, the service is great until they make you post a positive review, once the review is posted they tell you to leave. There are 100s of restaurants on the island, no need to come here.

Yelp
We asked our receptionist for dinner suggestions. She suggested this place. The settings and ambience is great for a date night. It is a great place for tapas on the island. The drink was good too. However you have to be prepare to fight mosquitos. We got lots of bug bites at the end of the night. **bring bug spray with you**

Yelp
Very glad to have made it here for our first dinner in Holbox. A very vibey outdoor scene. Great small dishes for sharing. Would be great for a small group if you can score a table then try everything on the menu.

Yelp
This was by far the best dining experience we had in all of our trip to Isla Holbox. The concierge at our accommodation recommended Luuma to us and when we reached, the hostess said the wait was almost an hour long. They even recommended us to head another place for drinks and come back for the meal if that's what we preferred. My husband and I put down our names and decided to take a walk and I am so glad we went back. The place has a great ambiance and you could dress up to celebrate or down to have a chill evening. The handcrafted cocktails all had unique concoctions. As an Indian, I generally stay away from the Western adaptations of Chai but I decided to try the Chai based cocktail and it was absolutely exquisite with the chai flavor infused in the froth. The food was tapas style, Mexican cuisine with a spin and I read that all the food is locally sourced which is a huge plus. The masterminds behind Luuma and the chef love their and it shows in each of the dishes that came to the table. Of all the dishes which were all equal parts amazing, the lamb took it up a notch! It's been more than a month since we are back and I still can't stop dreaming about that lamb. Since they were crazy busy, the service was a little slow initially but our server Angayl (I hope I got the spelling right) was attentive, and made some great suggestions including the lamb. We ordered dessert even though we were quite full because we didn't want to miss out on a chance to see what the chef had up his sleeve. The chocolate based dessert we had hit the bulls eye and we left Luuma as two happy souls.

Aayush G.

Yelp
It was a very unpleasant experience and we felt insulted when the waitress took our menu while we were still deciding on what to order for main course. Her reasoning was 'she needed that menu for another customer, and that we could see the online menu!'. The Wi-Fi didn't work and she never came by to check if we were able to make it work. It was unwelcoming and made us feel like we weren't as important to them as some of their 'other' customers. In the end, no apology was issued and we left after having a couple of drinks and a starter we had ordered in the beginning. I would highly encourage the Luuma management to get their staff to be trained better in hospitality and guest services. Apart from the above, I'd rate them well for ambience and food.
google avatar

Lindsay B.

Yelp
From the moment we walked through the front, my friend and I were in heaven! We couldn't stop smiling at the interior designing and set up alone so we knew we were in for a treat when it came to the drinks and food. This place has tapas, which is the best thing ever so that you can get a bunch off of the menu and get a little taste of each thing. First we ordered the drinks and then 4 items from the menu. Everything we ordered left us speechless and we couldn't stop talking about how good it was and I'm still dreaming about the octopus empanda (that was my favorite). With a trendy, rustic style, a staff that was extremely helpful and food that left us wanting more, our experience was amazing! I would put this on the top of my list if I ever make a trip back to Holbox. **FOLLOW MY FOOD INSTAGRAM: @LinnysLunchbox

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and unique food and drinks on holbox! We tried three of the cocktails and each were very unique and delicious. The chai drink (can't remember the name!) was refreshing with an interesting chai foam on top. I tried the luuma colada - which was luuma's version of a lighter, creamy piña colada with Passionfruit flavoring. It was crisp and refreshing but also creamy. It was hard not to drink it all down quickly! We also tried the flaming guava drink - it had a flaming guava on top which was served flaming and full of orange liqueur. We tried a few sips of the liqueur - very strong and then put the rest in the drink. The drink was mostly pineapple flavored but strangely blue? We were told it was another liqueur used for coloring purposes. The food was also amazing. We tried six tapas and a dessert. Our favorite tapas were the lamb tacos - very unique flavor combination with a handmade bean tortilla. We also really enjoyed the pork with elote - it had a sweet sauce and the crunchy elote on top gave it a unique texture. The croquetas de Chaya were also a must order. They were so creamy and rich. We didn't enjoy the spring rolls and wouldn't order them again. There wasn't anything interesting about them. We were split on the pakoras - my friend thought they were the worst of the six item, but I enjoyed them! They were a nice veggie addition to the spread, but the sauce they were served with is a bit bland. We loved the Maracuya (passionfruit) tart for dessert. The middle was a layer of passionfruit ice cream (albeit tasted a bit fluke it had been in the freezer too long) with a maracuya gel on top and a buttery crust on the bottom. Highly recommend for a fresh but rich dessert. The prices are definitely higher here - we paid around $80usd for six tapas, dessert and two cocktails each. It was worth it for the unique dishes and the pleasant garden/bohemian atmosphere of the restaurant. The decor is beautiful and the place is away from the hustle and bustle of the center.

Yelp
The food is overpriced and actually for being fancy and trendy spot I was pretty disappointed with the food. Sometimes you have to do things fundamentally right and not so fancy.

Yelp
My group of 8 friends were very lucky to walk in on a Thursday evening and score a corner table in the main lounge/dining area. Our waiter was prompt & quick and the drinks and food were delicious. We ordered 2 large sharing tapas plates plus additional tapas since we all have hearty appetites. Everything was perfectly cooked & amazingly delicious. The place has a cool, chic, & hip vibe to it & I'd highly recommend coming. There is also a cute boutique shop next to the dining area which had lovely jewelry, perfumes, bags, dresses, & hats.

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant in Holbox, we went there twice during our stay and it was excellent each time. Excellent service, amazing wine list. Our favorite dishes were the shrimp empanada, basil and garlic chicharron, pork pancetta and the spring rolls. We had the whole fish one night and it was also delicious. Place has wonderful ambiance and great music. Check it out.

Angelina C.

Yelp
Best food in Holbox! The place was quite dark but it brought great ambiance in the restaurant

Awesta H.

Yelp
While the ambience is great, Luuma's food is average. None of the food had depth of flavor, or much flavor at all. It's a trendy place so in my experience for Holbox, that's a red flag. All the trendy places have disappointing food, particularly for Mexico. I would disregard the 5 star reviews. I'm assuming they are from all the influencer-type people there who needed a good IG pic.

Yelp
I-Luuma-nated at Luuma! When in Holbox, Luuma is a must! Upscale food, drinks and atmosphere with a down to earth staff! Jorge is a wonderful bartender. He is passionate in his craft. The kitchen staff quickly, efficiently senda out their carefully crafted creations! Luuma is not to be missed!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Classy, laid-back spot for cocktails and tapas. Dimly lit with a sunken dining room and a beautiful concrete bar overlooking the kitchen. A great spot to get away from the noise of the central square and really enjoy the evening in a trendy environment.
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
This place is sooo good! Got the fish croquettes sooo yummy and the pork amazing. The Luuma cocktail is also really good. My friend got the lamb and she loved. Defiantly a must if you like good food

K B.

Yelp
Great service and work class culinary delights. The ambience is unique and upscale, and the wine list and craft drinks are on point. Current faves are the pork pancetta , spring rolls and Jack Mackerel Tostadas. Hibiscus sodas are unique and yum, as are the Boulevardier and honestly, all the drinks and the food. There's no way to go wrong here so stop reading this review and go, now!

Andre K.

Yelp
Great music and vibe, cool tapas, has a fun ladies boutique inside, and is a place to see and be seen...
google avatar

Jeff O.

Yelp
Really good restaurant. Serves a few large platters for sharing and many varied tapas plates. Everything we ordered was delicious. Earth platter is great for sharing. The whole fish was excellent but it is difficult to serve - ask if they can filet the spine out. They have excellent cocktails and wine selection. Prices were competitive with other restaurants. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. Get there early or put your name on the list and walk around town while you wait.
google avatar

Yulia T.

Yelp
Nice design, great tapas and drinks. We really liked spring rolls and whole fish. Had few dinners at Luuma while staying on the island. Definitely a "go to" spot while you are in Holbox. PS. - I liked that they don't sell export drinks aka. Corona or Cola! Everything local.

Lizzy K.

Yelp
We tried over half the tapas on the menu and all of it was fantastic. Our favorites were the jack fish taco, lamb tostada and spring rolls. Drinks were perfect, even asked for something off menu and she created a drink that was exactly what I wanted Friendly, great people!
google avatar

Kristine H.

Yelp
This place has some of the most refreshing and creative cocktails! Everything we ordered was delicious!! Not to mention, they have an assortment of delicious tapas (highly recommend the fish croquettes). Will def be visiting this spot more often. The ambience is amazing and super romantic!
google avatar

Nelli K.

Yelp
Wonderful place on the island. We stayed right next to it at Casa Las Tortugas and walked over here multiple nights. If you've ever been to Tulum this has a very similar vibe. Inside you will find a nice bar and outside seating and a very cute boutique that sells beautiful jewelry and clothing pieces. The food and drinks at Luuma are tasty. I especially liked the empanadas.

Kev J.

Yelp
First time in Isla Holbox and stumbled upon this delicious gem! Everything was delightful!
google avatar

Susie S.

Yelp
Sat at the bar, great cocktails and tapas. Beautiful setting and ambience. One of a kind for the island.
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
The food here was good: I had the chaya croquettes, the coconut curry shrimp soup, and a Pescadores Pale Ale. The ambiance is romantic and a bit upscale. However, I was absolutely devoured by mosquitos while dining here (I came around dusk and sat in the open dining area. I was not wearing repellant at the time). I noticed that some of the other restaurants on the island burned incense to keep mosquitos away, and I think Luuma needs to do the same. Maybe the bugs are not so bad if you sit at the bar?
google avatar

Dvir B.

Yelp
Really good bar with amazing cocktails. We came is the first month they opened and everything was just perfect from service to drinks

Andreas S.

Yelp
Boutique and eatery combined. Very nice decor and cosy atmosphere. Same owners as the hotel next door. Makes me want to buy all their stuff and drink all their wines
google avatar

Marcia N.

Yelp
love tapas but this was exceptional. waiter explained Luuma means 'earth' in Mayan language, and they want all their foods as fresh from the earth. no processed foods or drinks. atmosphere was eclectic and trendy, nestled under trees. food was outstanding and we cleaned every plate.
