Everything was wonderful! 1. Great staff - always helpful, spoke English and tolerated our Spanish ||2. Free, big breakfast with quite a varied selection ;more than enough to keep us going until supper||3. Loved the pool and the cheap but tasty drinks at the pool bar||4. Arranged our tour for us and made sure it went well||5. Always an ample supply of bottled water in our room||6. Quiet, spacious rooms (and a spectacular shower!)||7. Ideal location to sites in Merida including Plaza Grande||||Staff felt like friends by the time we left. If we come back to Merida we won't bother to look to stay anywhere but the Luz!||

I absolutely loved our stay at Luz En! Honestly you can stop reading reviews of other places, this is the place to stay! We were in a large room with a full kitchen nice patio and an upper rooftop area with a hammock. |The staff are so helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make the stay perfect, even meeting us at 4:30 am to unlock the parking gate. The morning breakfast was delicious, made to order, and perfect. Coffee was delicious and plentiful. We brought in fruit from a market and the staff cut it up for us to eatThe location is ideal and in a great central part of town where the streets are closed for walking in the evenings. Right by the Sunday bike route, lots of musicians and performers . It is quiet inside despite the activity in the area. The rooms were clean , linens so soft, big filtered water jug. The pool a refreshing delight , pool bar perfect! Highly recommend !!

Stayed here for 4 nights in March 2025. We had a ground floor room with a small garden and hammock beside the pool. ||The staff are friendly and room was a good size. Location is excellent. Lots of restaurants nearby and all major sights are walkable. ||Breakfast is made to order and is very “American” styled. It was fine but probably only part of stay that we didn’t love. ||The pool area is nice and there is a small pool side bar for drinks. ||If you book directly through hotel you get a 20% discount.

Beautiful little hotel with very comfortable rooms. Gracious staff and excellent service. The included breakfast was fabulous. Plenty of choices. I recommend the avocado toast but all of the choices were delicious. I’d definitely stay here again when I visit Merida. I’d also recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable hotel.

Amazing location right in the heart of the city. The most helpful and kind staff, especially the managers: Augustin, Esteban and Jose. They had great suggestions for activities and would be so kind in arranging taxis, giving us pointers and options. The breakfast was a new delight every day (enough options to get something different daily). The pool was refreshing and the poolside bar served a variety of drinks. Highly recommend!

Google
Fantastic hotel in the heart of Merida, and well situated for both the historic district and the upmarket Montejo area. The hotel is in a former convent and the decor reflects this with open beamed ceilings and tiled floors. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and maintained to a high standard. Ours had twin queen beds and a separate seating/ work area. There was a fridge and a plentiful supply of drinking water. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are amazing. Overall, highly recommended!

Great central location, very comfortable and private rooms and balconies, excellent advise from proprietor for local sightseeing, delicious varied breakfast! Room AC and in room bottled water dispenser. I would definitely return next time in Merida.

Google
Tom, Donald, and the whole staff made this place a very comfortable and easy place to stay while we got around Merida and into the interior of the Yucatan. Located just by the Plaza Santa Lucia and within easy walking distance of the main plaza, shopping streets, and the Mercado Municipal with all of its local vendors, Luz en Yucatan is convenient to everything the Centro area has to offer. Morning coffee and tea, afternoon pool bar and pool, ample rooms (all of ours with hammocks and wall hooks ready!) made it a real pleasure to be at.

Yelp
It was nice. Great location-very close to the main plaza. We got the room that had three beds and a full kitchenette. It was called La Perla. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool is nice and the facilities are great. The included breakfast was exceptional, but it did take a long time. There was also secure parking, which was nice.

Yelp
We loved this hotel. Hard to locate, the sign is very small and it's hidden behind a courtyard wall, but once inside very nice and cozy. Very affordable. The room was great. We had a kitchenette and an outdoor terrace with hammocks. A perfect location for exploring the city. It's not a 5 star resort, but perfectly nice, clean and inviting. We recommend!

Yelp
Excelente servicio. Excellent service. The hotel was originally a convent for the Santa Lucía chapel which married its first couple (Mayans) in 1577. This is an area that has amazing ad interesting history. The people of Merida are very kind and helpful. The hotel is located perfectly. The walking distance for restaurants is perfect within 1/2 block you have the Santa Lucía parque. This park has live music in the evenings the weekends. They have a multitude of local eateries. This hotel is located around at least 25 different places to eat or drink. All walking distance of about 1/2 block to 5 blocks. Six blocks (15 minutes) you can walk to the local Mercado. This is the location of the Taquería La Lupita from the Netflix foodie series. The hotel rooms were cleaned daily. Refreshed with towels and sheets. The room we stayed in La Floro Mayo room 9 has 2 queen beds and a hammock. The amount of space was unlike any other hotel we have stayed in with a "standard" room. Normally this size room would be a Jr suite at least. The staff are extremely helpful. They have given suggestions and directions several times. They also speak English if you prefer. The hotel has the finish on the bathrooms "Cho-kun" , this finish is unique to this area. The walls appear to be cracked but it is the normal wear of this type of wall finish. The beds were comfortable in our room. They were medium soft. The array of pillows were soft to medium firm. The room has light sheet coverings (tropical climate). The room has the option to leave the doors and windows open with a locked screen for both. The room also has 3 ceiling fans and AC. The room has a 2 shelf mini-fridge with 2 free local beers. They have a large 5 gallon bottle of water for use in your room. Coffee maker as well with the appropriate accoutrements. They have an antique boudoir but it is for decoration. Each of the rooms have a private WIFI connection. Then there is a public one in the pool area. They have a television has Google play channels and a few locals. We really enjoyed the staff and the area. The hotel is not "perfect" but it is very clean and comfortable. We will return.

Yelp
Luz en Yucatan is a gem! The hotel is a beautifully remodeled colonial building in a great location close to the cathedral, shopping, and some of Merida's best restaurants. Our room on the second floor was simple and clean. There was bottled water, coffee, as well as a refrigerator and microwave. The hotel has wi-if but we could only get a signal on the shared terrace outside our room. Nice touches are the free beers when you arrive and the free shot cart in the lobby that is stocked with tequila and other various liquors.

Yelp
Luz en Yucatán is amazing! I stayed there for 7 nights on my last trip to Merida and couldn't have asked for more! The entire staff was so welcoming and friendly! It didn't matter who was in the office everyone was so helpful. The location is excellent and walkable to so many bars, restaurants and shops around the city. I will be staying there again!
