Luz en Yucatan was an elegant, unexpected oasis in the heart of Merida for our family of 5 (3 boys aged 17, 14 and 10) from the UK. We stayed 2 nights in one large comfortable family room overlooking the pool, which was perfect for a pause from the hot city break. Beautiful tiled floors and decor create a cool, calm atmosphere. |The owner, Tom, and his wife Juillisa were welcoming and great fun, giving recommendations for food and sightseeing.|Breakfast, included, was filling and delicious. Tom’s new online hotel guide offered all we needed to know to enjoy Mérida - particularly the food options! All staff members were helpful and friendly. Designated car parking is just round the corner and you can park on the street to load/unload. |All in all, a highly recommended place to stay. Thank you Luz en Yucatan!

I absolutely loved staying at Luz en Yucatán. The place has a super relaxed and welcoming vibe. The building is gorgeous, full of charm and character, with colorful touches, quiet courtyards, and a refreshing pool that's perfect after a hot day exploring. My room was clean and comfortable. We received a coupon for free drinks! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is also ideal as it’s close to good restaurants, bars, and local shops.

Wow! What a beautiful hotel! I loved everything about it! It was very clean and comfortable. I slept very well each night. There were so many nice touches. There's a hammock and a 5 gallon bottle of drinking water in the room. The A/C worked very well. The included breakfast was delicious. Try the burrito divorciado! Also, the hotel is perfectly located - right in the center of town. It was in walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and the Plaza Grande. The owners, Tom and Julisa, were very hospitable and helpful. José and one other gentleman (I didn't get his name), at the front desk, were super friendly and ready to assist. When in Mérida, I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Luz en Yucatan is the only place I ever want to stay when I visit Merida. The property and the rooms are beautiful, the staff are super nice and attentive, and you can't beat the location right in Santa Lucia, 3 blocks from the Central Square. There is so much to do around there but once you walk through the door at Luz, you get to take a break in your quiet, cool oasis. The complete breakfast that was added over the past year is a delicious bonus. The pool area is an idyllic hideaway for the steamy Merida afternoons, now complete with drinks from the Nido pool bar and cabanas for lounging. The WiFi works great throughout the hotel and the powerful AC in the room was very much appreciated. I can't wait to return to Luz soon and to explore more of Merida!

The hotel is beautiful, decorated with painted tiles and yellow walls, and most of the rooms open to the courtyard. Despite not being a large place it still felt spacious sitting out on our room’s patio. It’s located in a less busy part of the city, but there are fun events in the park across the street and it’s a quick walk to the main center. The hotel provided the best packet of “Luz-ful” information with tons of recommendations for dining, shopping and events, with super detailed descriptions! It really helped orient us in the city. ||||The staff were all friendly, including the waiter at the included breakfast which was sit-down food to order, not a buffet. ||||The rooms were clean and basic and you really don’t need anything more. They also provided a purified water dispenser. The only negative thing to say about the room was the bed and pillows weren’t amazing. ||||Overall, we’d happily stay again! It would also be a great place to come with a group and hang out on the patios above the pool bar.

Excellent stay! Very cute hotel. Most of the staff speak some English and all are very friendly. The owner is from the US but has lived in Merida for a long time and was very knowledgeable about what to see, do, and eat. The pool is very clean and was nice to relax in after a hot day of sightseeing. Breakfast was included in the price. Im not usually a fan of hotel breakfast, but this was excellent. Several egg dishes cooked to order. And free coffee in the morning was very nice, as well. Hotel is in a great location, a few blocks from the main square. Safe hotel and safe location.

Beautiful little hotel with very comfortable rooms. Gracious staff and excellent service. The included breakfast was fabulous. Plenty of choices. I recommend the avocado toast but all of the choices were delicious. I’d definitely stay here again when I visit Merida. I’d also recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable hotel.

Hands down the perfect place to stay in Merida.||From the beautiful traditional architecture which let you immerse into the city's colonial vibe, to the diligent and nice staff who solve every need that we required with ease. Yelp
It was nice. Great location-very close to the main plaza. We got the room that had three beds and a full kitchenette. It was called La Perla. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool is nice and the facilities are great. The included breakfast was exceptional, but it did take a long time. There was also secure parking, which was nice.

Yelp
We loved this hotel. Hard to locate, the sign is very small and it's hidden behind a courtyard wall, but once inside very nice and cozy. Very affordable. The room was great. We had a kitchenette and an outdoor terrace with hammocks. A perfect location for exploring the city. It's not a 5 star resort, but perfectly nice, clean and inviting. We recommend!

Yelp
Excelente servicio. Excellent service. The hotel was originally a convent for the Santa Lucía chapel which married its first couple (Mayans) in 1577. This is an area that has amazing ad interesting history. The people of Merida are very kind and helpful. The hotel is located perfectly. The walking distance for restaurants is perfect within 1/2 block you have the Santa Lucía parque. This park has live music in the evenings the weekends. They have a multitude of local eateries. This hotel is located around at least 25 different places to eat or drink. All walking distance of about 1/2 block to 5 blocks. Six blocks (15 minutes) you can walk to the local Mercado. This is the location of the Taquería La Lupita from the Netflix foodie series. The hotel rooms were cleaned daily. Refreshed with towels and sheets. The room we stayed in La Floro Mayo room 9 has 2 queen beds and a hammock. The amount of space was unlike any other hotel we have stayed in with a "standard" room. Normally this size room would be a Jr suite at least. The staff are extremely helpful. They have given suggestions and directions several times. They also speak English if you prefer. The hotel has the finish on the bathrooms "Cho-kun" , this finish is unique to this area. The walls appear to be cracked but it is the normal wear of this type of wall finish. The beds were comfortable in our room. They were medium soft. The array of pillows were soft to medium firm. The room has light sheet coverings (tropical climate). The room has the option to leave the doors and windows open with a locked screen for both. The room also has 3 ceiling fans and AC. The room has a 2 shelf mini-fridge with 2 free local beers. They have a large 5 gallon bottle of water for use in your room. Coffee maker as well with the appropriate accoutrements. They have an antique boudoir but it is for decoration. Each of the rooms have a private WIFI connection. Then there is a public one in the pool area. They have a television has Google play channels and a few locals. We really enjoyed the staff and the area. The hotel is not "perfect" but it is very clean and comfortable. We will return.

Yelp
Luz en Yucatan is a gem! The hotel is a beautifully remodeled colonial building in a great location close to the cathedral, shopping, and some of Merida's best restaurants. Our room on the second floor was simple and clean. There was bottled water, coffee, as well as a refrigerator and microwave. The hotel has wi-if but we could only get a signal on the shared terrace outside our room. Nice touches are the free beers when you arrive and the free shot cart in the lobby that is stocked with tequila and other various liquors.

Yelp
Luz en Yucatán is amazing! I stayed there for 7 nights on my last trip to Merida and couldn't have asked for more! The entire staff was so welcoming and friendly! It didn't matter who was in the office everyone was so helpful. The location is excellent and walkable to so many bars, restaurants and shops around the city. I will be staying there again!
