Luz en Yucatán is a fantastic place to stay while visiting Merida and surroundings. The personal attention of its owner, the dedication of all the staff, and the lovely rooms/suites, which are a retreat right in the heart of the city. Parking is around the corner, but you are allowed to stop momentarily in front of the entrance to check-in and get a parking pass, as the lot is independent from the hotel.||We went in the low season and they nicely upgraded us to La Perla suite. Since we both were having health issues, we did much more hotel time than expected, and enjoyed the comfortable beds, the pool, and the silence.||Prices include breakfast, which is delicious! There are about 8 dishes to choose from, made at the moment with natural ingredients and in large portions. Even the bread is very good!||Thank you, Tom and team!

We have stayed in many hotels all over the world, though we always prefer a small locally owned hotel or B&B and Luz fit our specifications to a T! Smack dab in the center of Merida, with a delightful greeting, a beautiful pool area, amazing freshly cooked breakfasts every morning ( I still miss the salsa picante on my huevos rancheros!), Luz is truly a home and we felt one of the family. |The owners and staff could not do enough for us, lots of suggestions for walks, tours markets, local events, etc. And after a long day in sensory overdrive, the pool bar is a haven for a cool drink! And because the hotel is small, as is the pool area, we were able to meet other guests and enjoy making new friends and hearing about their travels. |I almost hesitate to give Luz such a glowing review as it will soon be swamped, but it really is one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed! |We can't wait to return!

Luz is by far our favorite hotel, anywhere. We probably have stayed there ten times by now. The location is excellent, it s very quiet, the feeling is cozy, but of course you have to like the historical building features: High ceilings, lots of tile. The staff is very accommodating. The pool is near perfect, clear water of just the right temperature; does not feel cold when you get in, but very refreshing once you are in. They recently added free breakfast with table service and several nice menu choices.

I stayed here for two weeks while studying Spanish at a school a few blocks away. The entire staff is wonderful and became like a family to me. From the friendly and helpful reception staff to the lovely kitchen staff and pool bartender, everyone was kind and warm. I made friends here. All of the rooms are unique and some have private balconies or terraces. Ours did not, but there were plenty of places to relax around the pool or in the lobby. Fresh hot coffee appeared early each morning. The full breakfast was very generous and better than you could find in the immediate area. The location is perfect; a few steps from Parque Santa Lucia, which has traditional live music every Thursday evening. I wish we could have stayed longer, and I will definitely be back.

Very clean, comfortable and an excellent "made to order" breakfast. The staff is friendly and responsive. The owners interact with guests, as well as share directions from activities, day trips, restaurants...|Very nice pool and multiple relaxing common areas.|Simply a fantastic location and stay. ||* A little history, the building was originally the convent for the church next door.

Loved this little hotel, it was just what I was looking for in Merida. Centrally located, with a real Mexican vibe, amazing breakfasts and the sweetest staff. Thank you so much for providing exactly what I was after for my week long stay. I traveled as a solo female and felt so safe and welcomed.

Google
Excellent stay! Very cute hotel. Most of the staff speak some English and all are very friendly. The owner is from the US but has lived in Merida for a long time and was very knowledgeable about what to see, do, and eat. The pool is very clean and was nice to relax in after a hot day of sightseeing. Breakfast was included in the price. Im not usually a fan of hotel breakfast, but this was excellent. Several egg dishes cooked to order. And free coffee in the morning was very nice, as well. Hotel is in a great location, a few blocks from the main square. Safe hotel and safe location.

Yelp
It was nice. Great location-very close to the main plaza. We got the room that had three beds and a full kitchenette. It was called La Perla. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool is nice and the facilities are great. The included breakfast was exceptional, but it did take a long time. There was also secure parking, which was nice.

Yelp
We loved this hotel. Hard to locate, the sign is very small and it's hidden behind a courtyard wall, but once inside very nice and cozy. Very affordable. The room was great. We had a kitchenette and an outdoor terrace with hammocks. A perfect location for exploring the city. It's not a 5 star resort, but perfectly nice, clean and inviting. We recommend!

Yelp
Excelente servicio. Excellent service. The hotel was originally a convent for the Santa Lucía chapel which married its first couple (Mayans) in 1577. This is an area that has amazing ad interesting history. The people of Merida are very kind and helpful. The hotel is located perfectly. The walking distance for restaurants is perfect within 1/2 block you have the Santa Lucía parque. This park has live music in the evenings the weekends. They have a multitude of local eateries. This hotel is located around at least 25 different places to eat or drink. All walking distance of about 1/2 block to 5 blocks. Six blocks (15 minutes) you can walk to the local Mercado. This is the location of the Taquería La Lupita from the Netflix foodie series. The hotel rooms were cleaned daily. Refreshed with towels and sheets. The room we stayed in La Floro Mayo room 9 has 2 queen beds and a hammock. The amount of space was unlike any other hotel we have stayed in with a "standard" room. Normally this size room would be a Jr suite at least. The staff are extremely helpful. They have given suggestions and directions several times. They also speak English if you prefer. The hotel has the finish on the bathrooms "Cho-kun" , this finish is unique to this area. The walls appear to be cracked but it is the normal wear of this type of wall finish. The beds were comfortable in our room. They were medium soft. The array of pillows were soft to medium firm. The room has light sheet coverings (tropical climate). The room has the option to leave the doors and windows open with a locked screen for both. The room also has 3 ceiling fans and AC. The room has a 2 shelf mini-fridge with 2 free local beers. They have a large 5 gallon bottle of water for use in your room. Coffee maker as well with the appropriate accoutrements. They have an antique boudoir but it is for decoration. Each of the rooms have a private WIFI connection. Then there is a public one in the pool area. They have a television has Google play channels and a few locals. We really enjoyed the staff and the area. The hotel is not "perfect" but it is very clean and comfortable. We will return.

Yelp
Luz en Yucatan is a gem! The hotel is a beautifully remodeled colonial building in a great location close to the cathedral, shopping, and some of Merida's best restaurants. Our room on the second floor was simple and clean. There was bottled water, coffee, as well as a refrigerator and microwave. The hotel has wi-if but we could only get a signal on the shared terrace outside our room. Nice touches are the free beers when you arrive and the free shot cart in the lobby that is stocked with tequila and other various liquors.

Yelp
Luz en Yucatán is amazing! I stayed there for 7 nights on my last trip to Merida and couldn't have asked for more! The entire staff was so welcoming and friendly! It didn't matter who was in the office everyone was so helpful. The location is excellent and walkable to so many bars, restaurants and shops around the city. I will be staying there again!
