How This Central Asian Capital Became an Art and Fashion Hotspot | Vogue

"Built around a 17th-century pool and famously shaded by centuries-old mulberry trees whose leaves feed the silkworms behind the region’s textile wealth, the city’s social square is framed by the Kukeldash Madrasa to the north, the Nadir Divan-Begi Khanaka to the west, and opposite it the Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasa with a façade alive with mythical birds; sip tea, people-watch, then buy the stork-shaped scissors." - Ann Binlot

Restaurant review: food was good. We were happy to have lots of fresh, yummy vegetables after a long, hot day touring! But the highlight was the piano player - she’s really incredible and added great life to the beautiful room. 5 ⭐️ for her!

Nice hotel - well located; good food (both the breakfast and an evening meal in the restaurant - probably one of the best meals we’ve had on our trip to Uzbekistan). Only drawback was that the bed a bit uncomfortable for my liking.

If you’re looking for a freshly renovated building with a long tradition, close to everything and just plain beautiful, look no further! We stayed 3 days between April 8th and 11th, 2025 and we loved everything about the hotel. Personnel extremely attentive to our needs, clean rooms, safe and lovely location at the centre of the main city square, and a building rich in history that adds character to the hotel. Inside the main courtyard you’ll also find a lovely restaurant and a bar with a good selection of dishes and drinks. Thank you Lyabi House for making our stay in Bukhara an unforgettable treat!

Lovely hotel set in a refurbished old building. The bedrooms we're comfortable, staff accommodating and helpful and the restaurant excellent.

Beautiful hotel and restaurant located in a historic building in the centre of old town. Very kind and helpful people. Great breakfast. Best place to stay in Bukhara if you want a more authentic experience.

This is simply an exquisitely beautiful, comfortable, well located hotel. Built around a 19th century merchant’s house, it has all the amenities you need, plus plus plus… Breakfast is served in the old diwan, which actually looks like a museum. The restaurant has varied and tasty food. Cocktails in the evening on the ayvan are magical. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Tops all the hotels we stayed in.

Although I didn’t stay at this charming hotel, I had the pleasure of dining at its restaurant, which left a lasting impression. The menu focuses primarily on seafood and fish, which is quite unexpected given the desert setting. However, the meat and vegetarian options are equally exquisite, offering high-end cuisine paired with top-notch service. The ambiance adds to the overall experience, making it truly memorable. In short, I highly recommend the restaurant and look forward to hopefully exploring the hotel itself on a future visit to Bukhara.

Great location right in the middle of historic quarter. The building itself is also of course historic and interesting. Add a very nice room, friendly staff and a good breakfast. What more could you want? This was easily my best hotel experience on my trip through Tashkent, Boysun and Bukhara.
