Our stay was extremely disappointing.
During two days of cold and rainy weather in Christchurch (around 7°C), our room was freezing. The heater in the room was not functioning properly, and cold air was clearly coming through gaps, making the room very uncomfortable.
This morning, we spoke to the night staff (one male and one female). They told us that only one small portable heater could be provided per room. However, given the weather and the fact that the room was not properly insulated, one small heater was absolutely not sufficient. I was literally woken up by the cold in the early morning.
The male staff member this morning had a very poor attitude and was dismissive.
To be fair, the male staff member on duty the previous evening was very helpful. He kindly helped us install the first heater and even proactively asked whether we would like a second heater. At that time, we thought one might be enough. However, after realizing the room was still extremely cold, we returned to the front desk to ask for further assistance — but he had already finished his shift.
We waited at the front desk for quite some time, and were simply told to wait. No solution was provided, and the issue remained unresolved until the next morning.
Providing adequate heating in cold weather is a basic expectation for accommodation. The lack of proper response and the poor attitude from certain staff members made this experience very disappointing.
I hope management will take this matter seriously.
