10 Cheap Tropical Places to Travel Around the World, According to Travel Experts

"Cited as the main international gateway with examples of low-cost roundtrip fares into the region (rates as low as about $250 from major U.S. hubs), making it a practical arrival point for accessing smaller, more affordable nearby islands that offer modest hotels and rental homes." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Arrival into Bahamas was basically a breeze, filled out the form and then went thru customs within 10 min. The outside is nice and kinda organized. When flying out to the United States the process was incredible and easy. Barely anyone was there so everything went super smooth and fast and the people were friendly and helpful. It also looks great inside and the shops are well maintained. The food was better priced than most places.

Late post The ride to and from The Atlantis was comfortable, and upon arrival at the terminal, it was very quiet, making for a smooth experience. Global Entry was a huge plus—no wait at all, which made the process seamless. The airport itself was clean and well-maintained, and the Junkanoo art added a lively, festive atmosphere. The water fountain where I tried to refill my canteen could use some maintenance, as it wasn’t functioning perfectly. On-site, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from, offering a variety of options. If you’re heading out, don’t forget to stop at duty-free to pick up your White Hennessy its a great price—there’s a great selection of alcohol. They also have a perfume station where you can create your own scent, and souvenirs are quite affordable, making for some good shopping. Overall, it was a smooth and enjoyable experience with some minor areas for improvement.

It’s a beautiful and very clean airport, not too big also easy to navigate. The only problem I had was the wait time for check in, the staff were slow too. I would suggest they upgrade to self check in it will be easier for travelers

✨ Bahamasair Flight Experience: Nassau to Long Island ✈️🌴 Flying with Bahamasair from Nassau to Long Island, Bahamas was a smooth and enjoyable island-hopping experience! The check-in process at Lynden Pindling International Airport was efficient and friendly, with the staff offering that signature Bahamian hospitality that instantly sets a relaxing tone for your journey. The aircraft, a comfortable and well-maintained ATR 42-600, gave us stunning views of the turquoise waters and scattered islands below—truly a breathtaking window seat experience! The short flight time flew by (literally), and the ride was smooth and scenic all the way. Upon landing at Long Island’s quaint and peaceful airport, it felt like stepping into a slower, more tranquil rhythm of life. Bahamasair made the whole experience feel personal, safe, and memorable—from the friendly crew to the picturesque descent. If you're traveling between islands, Bahamasair is a dependable and authentically Bahamian way to go. ✈️🇧🇸💙

Nice airport with quick check-in, security, and lots of food options. They have only 1 lounge that accepts priority pass only. Lots of good food choices such as KFC and Manuelo’s.

These people were so friendly and professional. As a matter of fact , everyone that I came in contact with was friendly. At the beach, grocery store, restaurants, and yes at the airport. How is it that the Haitians are treated so badly there?

I would like to express my deep dissatisfaction with the treatment I received as a passenger at Nassau International Airport (Bahamas) upon my arrival on a flight from Cuba in July 2023. I am a citizen of the Russian Federation. Upon arrival, all passengers who did not hold American or Bahamian passports (including Russian, Japanese, and other foreign nationals) were not allowed to proceed through the standard passport control. Instead, we were directed to a separate office located past the immigration booths, where we were told to wait for a certain supervisor. Eventually, a woman — presumably an immigration or law enforcement officer — arrived. From the very beginning, she spoke to us in a loud, aggressive, and disrespectful tone — not firm professionalism, but outright shouting. She demanded our passports and return tickets. She insisted that everyone show their hotel reservations and personally called the hotels to verify the bookings. In my specific case, she required me to: • Show my bank account balance!!!! • Present the amount of cash I had on me; • Take out my personal jewelry and subjected it to visual inspection. All of this occurred in front of other passengers, without any explanation or respectful treatment. The most outrageous moment came when she told me to buy a ticket to Russia. I explained that I don’t live in Russia and currently reside in Turkey. She responded, “What is Turkey?” I explained that it is a country located near Greece, to which she replied, “Then buy a ticket to Greece.” The fact that an airport official does not know where Turkey is located is shocking and demonstrates a lack of basic education and professional training. also believe this procedure is not an isolated incident. While waiting, I spoke with other passengers who frequently travel to the Bahamas, and several of them mentioned that they had experienced similar treatment on previous trips. This suggests that such practices are systemic and recurring, rather than a one-time mistake. For this reason, I respectfully urge the airport administration and relevant authorities to pay close attention to what is happening at Nassau International Airport, particularly at the international arrivals section. The current approach to handling foreign visitors — especially those who are not from the U.S. or the Bahamas — raises serious concerns about discrimination, lack of professionalism, and violations of basic human dignity. Travelers from all over the world should feel welcomed and treated fairly upon arrival, not intimidated or humiliated.
