10 Cheap Tropical Places to Travel Around the World, According to Travel Experts

"Cited as the main international gateway with examples of low-cost roundtrip fares into the region (rates as low as about $250 from major U.S. hubs), making it a practical arrival point for accessing smaller, more affordable nearby islands that offer modest hotels and rental homes." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Most people leave a review went it doesn’t go well, they got delayed or missed their flights or experienced waiting times We left The Bahamas during the Christmas holidays back to the US and we were also a bit scared to lose a lot of time at the immigration (as we read several reviews here about the airport, the immigration and so on) as we had to return our rental car and get back to the airport. So when I got back, my girlfriend already checked in her luggage, passed control and immigration, but when I returned from bringing the rental car back (which went super smoothly, refuel the car, get the deposit back and being dropped off at the airport), I arrived and there was quite a big cueing line at the check in, luckily Bahamas Air made a new line for the people who were heading to Fort Lauderdale and the other line to Orlando remained. Bahamas Air anticipated well. Otherwise I would have definitely lose half an hour or more. The security check could take a lot of time. But we took Bahamas Air back to the US (Fort Lauderdale), food places and shops were all open, our plane was there, left a bit later but everything went really well and smoothly in this airport.

Arrival into Bahamas was basically a breeze, filled out the form and then went thru customs within 10 min. The outside is nice and kinda organized. When flying out to the United States the process was incredible and easy. Barely anyone was there so everything went super smooth and fast and the people were friendly and helpful. It also looks great inside and the shops are well maintained. The food was better priced than most places.

Small, quiet, generally pleasant airport. The only irritation is that for so many overseas flights the walk to customs is as long as it is in huge airports like Miami. On some occasions, when multiple flights land at the same time, the line at customs can be Absurdly long for such a small place, and I do mean two hours plus Exiting is more pleasant. If you're going to the US, customs happens in Nassau and that's pretty convenient for US travelers who can then simply transfer into the domestic systemS

Late post The ride to and from The Atlantis was comfortable, and upon arrival at the terminal, it was very quiet, making for a smooth experience. Global Entry was a huge plus—no wait at all, which made the process seamless. The airport itself was clean and well-maintained, and the Junkanoo art added a lively, festive atmosphere. The water fountain where I tried to refill my canteen could use some maintenance, as it wasn’t functioning perfectly. On-site, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from, offering a variety of options. If you’re heading out, don’t forget to stop at duty-free to pick up your White Hennessy its a great price—there’s a great selection of alcohol. They also have a perfume station where you can create your own scent, and souvenirs are quite affordable, making for some good shopping. Overall, it was a smooth and enjoyable experience with some minor areas for improvement.

✨ Bahamasair Flight Experience: Nassau to Long Island ✈️🌴 Flying with Bahamasair from Nassau to Long Island, Bahamas was a smooth and enjoyable island-hopping experience! The check-in process at Lynden Pindling International Airport was efficient and friendly, with the staff offering that signature Bahamian hospitality that instantly sets a relaxing tone for your journey. The aircraft, a comfortable and well-maintained ATR 42-600, gave us stunning views of the turquoise waters and scattered islands below—truly a breathtaking window seat experience! The short flight time flew by (literally), and the ride was smooth and scenic all the way. Upon landing at Long Island’s quaint and peaceful airport, it felt like stepping into a slower, more tranquil rhythm of life. Bahamasair made the whole experience feel personal, safe, and memorable—from the friendly crew to the picturesque descent. If you're traveling between islands, Bahamasair is a dependable and authentically Bahamian way to go. ✈️🇧🇸💙

Very busy airport so plan to get there as early as comfortable for your travel needs. For non-US flights customs will be completed in the returning country, only security line is needed to get passed. Three food options once getting through security, KFC, Dunkin Donuts, and Manuelos the ladder being a local food option and is recommended for aa fresh food feast.

It’s a beautiful and very clean airport, not too big also easy to navigate. The only problem I had was the wait time for check in, the staff were slow too. I would suggest they upgrade to self check in it will be easier for travelers
