I often read reviews and use them as guides when deciding on hotels. I very rarely write reviews. In this case I felt compelled to write and post a review.||We recently stayed at the Lynnfield Inn in Kirkwall, Orkney Island, Scotland.||The hotel was good. We had a spacious, well-appointed room with a large bathroom. It was clean and the property appeared well cared for. The restaurant was good. Breakfast was included in the rate and the food options would meet even pickiest eaters. We ate 3 dinners at their restaurant and the food was fine. The restaurant staff were attentive and, overall, the service was quite good.||The problem was that an employee wore his politics literally front and center. On 2 out of 3 nights, his ties were political statements (IYKYK) that I found offensive and put men ill at ease. Sitting at a restaurant table, his ties were at eye level. I would have written the manager but, since I subsequently learned that he was, in fact, the manager, I’m posting this review.||Especially in the service industry, politics should be kept away from clients and customers.||It’s okay to believe what you believe. But know that your beliefs could be offensive to others. Especially right now, when political sensitivities are particularly divisive, the last place I want to see politics with which I disagree is while I’m on vacation.
