Awful. From the moment we got there it was an unorthodox experience. We arrived to have dinner. The restaurant has two entrances and nobody knows which one to use due to lack of signage and hostesses. One entrance is closed forcing you to walk back and forth outside. We got seated, waited abnormal amounts of time for both drinks and food. The Service was very slow. Keep in mind, their wasn’t that many people there. (Less than 3 tables). The food itself looked great (creative presentation) the scallops were over done and very rubbery, Not local. Fries are not home cooked. Pre bought and frozen. Which is fine, it’s just less authentic. The worst was yet to come.. Paying to get out of there was like being on another planet. We asked for a machine. They have none. Instead you needed to pay your restaurant bill over at the hotel check in desk which was encumbered with Motel Inn check-inn guests. So there in line we waited for 25minutes as other customers quarrelled with the front desk. All in all, food looked good. But don’t come here in a rush because this place is slow as molasses in January.

Stayed at the Lynwood Inn for 2 nights. Great location if you are planning on drive or spending time on the Cabot trail. Rooms are a little dated, but very clean and spacious. The stay was as expected!

I didn’t stay here but we did come for breakfast. The bacon was too well done for my liking so I asked for new less well done bacon however they brought out more over cooked bacon. They said they had already cooked the bacon for the day so there was nothing they could do. Over 46.00 for breakfast for two and they didn’t even discount the bacon that I couldn’t eat. That will be the last visit to that restaurant

We went with my family to have dinner at this motel. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our meals and didn’t even get a discount. It was cold since it was late, and we couldn’t even eat inside. The restaurant was closing while we were still eating. Very disappointing — we had planned to have dessert and come back for breakfast the next day, but given the experience, you’ve lost a customer.

We had a nice stay here. The restaurant was excellent. Friendly service and the seafood linguine was fantastic.

The hotel has a very stylish and boutique feel. The furniture in the room is old style as well as the drapery. A lot different from the chain hotel vibe but in a very good way. Hotel is close by to coffee and breakfast cafes as well as a few seafood restaurants. The hotel itself also has a very good restaurant and bar which when I visited was full of customers so you know the food must be good. Check-in took longer than usual but did have a nice chat with the desk officer. Highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a different feel than the chain hotel.

I have stayed in a lot of cottages across central and eastern Canada . This is by far the worst . It said that it would house 6 people but the cottage is so tiny that it won’t !! The beds are like trampoline and very uncomfortable to sleep !!! The service is poor . The receptionist is rude . The furniture is so dated and tiny that it feels it will break if a normal sized person sat . In the name of “vintage “ , they are selling a cheap and shoddy experience . If I had an option I would have give negative stars . Don’t stay here if you come to Baddeck !!

Yelp
We had a terrible meal at this restaurant. All of the food was horribly overcooked and rubbery, service was slow, and prices were comparable to other nearby yet far superior restaurants. I ordered the lobster and mussels - it was the first time in my life I didn't finish a lobster because it was so bad. (I'm not really even sure how it is possible to overcook a lobster like this, it's one of the easiest things to cook...) All in all it was a very disappointing experience, and I wish we had gone back to Freight Shed (or anywhere else) instead.

Yelp
Just had an amazing meal here sitting on the patio! Pan fried haddock, escargot, mussels, specialty coffee....all incredible! Live entertainment and friendly staff. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Great location. Very young service staff who are a bit inexperienced in service. However, they were very friendly..! Good variety of bottled craft beers. Food was ok.

Yelp
We stopped in for breakfast. The service was great, very friendly and quick. They had no problem doing a veggie eggs benny option for us (not a menu item) and it was delicious. Everything was good.

Yelp
Historic building in beautiful Baddeck. Nice outdoor patio although we chose to sit inside due to possible inclement weather. Live music was enjoyable and relaxing. Restaurant was a bit dark, but spacious and clean. Good with allergies. I wish they had refilled our empty water glasses. The house bread was yummy. We also had: Spinach salad with very delicious maple dressing. Chowder was good Garlic bread was good, small portion but just the size my kid wanted Halibut was very good but rice was over cooked Lasagna was watery with an obscene amount of cheese on top that was rubbery (not melted enough perhaps? The dish wasn't very hot) Passed on dessert although there were many delicious sounding homemade offerings.

Yelp
This review is based on the restaurant at the Lynwood Inn. After driving the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, my friend and I stopped in Baddeck to find a place for dinner. We took a stroll around the village area and finally decided on dining at the historic Lynwood Inn after checking out the dinner menu posted in front of the inn along the sidewalk. The restaurant offers casual dining inside the classic dining room and outside on the covered open air wooden porch. There's also nightly live entertainment on the porch. The dinner menu offerings include soups, salads, chicken, steaks, poultry, pasta dishes, stir frys, and desserts. Most entrees are priced $9.99 to $22.99. A Lobster Platter with Mussels is $19.95 (in Aug 2012). We decided to have dinner outside on the porch since it was such a nice evening. There was also live entertainment with a gentleman crooning some tunes and playing his guitar. To start , we were served a complementary basket of bread & butter and saltine crackers, decent. DINNERS: Fish & Chips ($9.99): The batter on the fish was very light and very crispy and the haddock was hot and fresh. The battered golden fries were very crispy and not too greasy. The small side of minced cole slaw was standard. Bras d' Or Camp Fire Trout ($16.99): The Campfire trout (whole fish) was very good, coated with corn meal which was very crisp on the outside and the trout was juicy inside with a few bones in the trout, deboned up the center already. The side of roasted corn salsa was a good topping for the trout. The 2 scoops of soft mashed potatoes were decent, as were the vegetables (steamed broccoli & carrots), and the minced cole slaw was standard. We passed on the offer for dessert. The service was acceptable and the food was served to us in good time (under 20 minutes) on a steady night. The check came out to around $31 with tax and before tip. Pay inside at the front desk. Overall, we enjoyed a solid good dinner at a reasonable price on a warm summer evening outside with live music.

Yelp
Ate at the restaurant and had a wonderful meal. The service was fast and professional. The food was excellent. The tables are small and the whole place feels a bit cramped, but the atmosphere is generally pleasant. The menu is a bit odd, the place seemingly unable to decide if it's a family restaurant (chicken fingers and club sandwiches) or a venue for fine dining (lobster and escargot). That means that if you do want something extravagant, as we did, your options are rather limited, especially if seafood is not your thing. Perhaps this diversity is a reflection of the need to serve their hotel guests as well as their other customers. Overall, a great experience.

Yelp
5 stars for fish and chips, $13.95...a good deal around here, I think (but we skipped the chips!) A deck hand on our sailing trip recommended this restaurant for fish and chips as this is his favorite kind of food. It was one of the best we've tried, with a light, crispy coating and flakey fish. We skipped the chips and substituted for a spinach salad, which had sliced apples, dried cranberries, etc. We finished with a large piece of yummy carrot cake. The setting was comfortable on the patio, with either a covered area or uncovered. There was live music, a guitarist who was the first musician to also give us the weather report! Inside was more formal with lovely dining rooms, complete with tablecloths. Prices were reasonable and the service good.

Yelp
Great location! Located in walking distance to both beaches and the lighthouse. Our junior suite was big enough for our family of 4 with plenty of room. Staff was friendly and room was fairly clean. On the third floor front facing balcony we could see the ocean! Negatives, carpet was clean but not vacuumed well. Pull out mattress was not very comfy (bring your own air mattress to go on top). TV was hard to watch from bed due to position of the bed. Overall we had a nice stay and i would stay here again.

Yelp
Best steak we had in Nova Scotia and the restaurant is wonderful. We didn't stay at this hotel, and I was sorry not to. The staff was very pleasant and immediately seated us for lunch and brought refills and any sides we needed. When we ordered the steaks, they said, well done is going to take some time. My husband eats his rare but both steaks were delivered in the perfect amount of cooking, mine tender and juicy but well done, my husbands red and done on the outside. The meal came with french fries and vegetables (which is almost unheard of in this neck of the woods). The prices were extremely reasonable. Dessert was a lovely apple pie. Restrooms were clean and fresh.

Yelp
This review is for the restaurant part of the inn. I did not stay at the hotel (I stayed at the Telegraph Motel down the street). We were told that we wouldn't need reservations, however, when we got there, it was at least a 15 minute wait until we got a table. Not that bad. When we got our seats, we got our waters and waited until our server got there to take our drink order. It came within a couple minutes. Not that bad. The waiter took the food order and I was happy to have a lobster supper for my last night in Baddeck. I realize now that we should've gone to the actual lobster supper. It was a 25 minute wait for the food. The waiter never came back to refill drinks. We ordered more drinks and dig into our food, excited for the last meal in Baddeck. Gross. Everything we had was overcooked. Pasta was soggy, the well done steak was like leather, and the mussels were dry, and the colour of the (ha, also overdone) carrots on the plate. And can I just say, that the worst thing is overdone lobster. It was probably one pound, and it tasted like it had been cooked for 20 minutes. The roe was disgusting; I usually enjoy that part very much, but this was hard and flaky. Server came back and we told him of the disappointing meal. Gave them a low tip, only the change of what we payed because we didn't want it back. Don't waste your time eating here. I'm not too sure why this place has such a high rating, maybe those people just didn't have the lobster. Overall, the experience was something that I hope to forget so my memories of this trip stay enjoyable.

Yelp
We came here for a nice little meal in their cosy dining room in the beginning of October this year. There was live music, in preparation for the Celtic Colours festival. The service was homely style (as it's also an inn) but we were very impressed with the food. We decided to go for the seafood options - sweet chilli salmon and the corn campfire trout. Both were cooked to perfection and served with generous portions of sides. Best food in Baddeck.

Yelp
After reading other reviews I cannot understand the high star level. We did not stay there, chose to eat there on our last night in Baddeck. Phoned for reservations, told they did not take them, but the wait wouldn't be long. ok. Showed up 6:30 pm and we're seated by 6:45. Ok. ( on second thought, a restaurant not needing reservations in downtown Baddeck should have been a warning sign). Anyway, we got our waters and waited a few minutes for our drink order. It came within a few minutes. All good. Then they took our food order and we were set. 25 minutes later the food came. Unfortunately they never bothered to come back to check on drinks. Which were empty. Ordered more drinks. Started eating food. So. Overcooked all around. Pasta should not be soggy. Well done steak does not mean shoe leather. And mussels should not be the same colour as carrots. There is nothing worse than overcooked lobster. It is rubbery and tasteless. Roe should not be cemented, it should be creamy. One pound lobster ( at best) should not be cooked more than 8-10 minutes. EVER. Our server was told of our disappointment. Seemed shocked, but not surprised. Was given a 4 dollar tip on a $180 meal, only because it was the change I didn't want. Don't waste your time eating here. We stayed at the Telegraph Inn down the street, and their 4 star rating just went up to 5 because of Lynwoood's crappy food. Try the convenience store next door for a better meal

Yelp
We stayed at Lynwood Inn New Years Eve if there was ten stars I would give. We highly recommend lynwood

Yelp
Despite my American roots, we had our Canadian Thanksgiving here in October 2014, and it felt so natural having 2 Thanksgivings in 2 separate months. The service was average, but the food was top notch. Especially dessert! A bread pudding that would put any bread or putting to shame. If you are ever in Baddeck for this holiday week, come to the Inn! It's a neat place for tourism as well. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the rooms, as well didn't stay here. Bring your camera, and your appetite!

Yelp
What a treat! The servers know so much history about the Lynwood and are willing to chat to you while you are waiting for your food. The food is great and there's a huge selections - both simple and decadent! Everything from soup to a maple glazed salmon (which was phenomenal!) and their drinks are strong (a double piña colada anyone?). The 1900s themed dining room is stunning. the inn itself was clean and the view was phenomenal!! An easy walk around the whole town!

Yelp
I have been back from my Canada trip for over one week now, still decided to write this review. We did not stay at this hotel, but had dinner at its restaurant. Let me tell you, they are not American-friendly, or should I say, they are not English-friendly. After we sit down, took them a while for the waitress to come over, we told her that we just want water as drink, and we were ready to order. She was cold. After we put in the order, next was the long wait, for the next 30 minutes, no one checked on us, we just sit there like a fool. Our waitress, who is apparently from French Canada, is loudly chatting at the table next to us, with the couple who are from Quebec. So as long as you don't speak French or have French accent, you don't deserve her time or attention. Did I mention that their Wi-Fi doesn't work? Since the waitress thinks we are not important, all we want is just use our cell phone to kill some time. But the Wi-Fi does not work, and we brought it up to them, their response is "Oh...it should work." And that's it. Anyways, the food was not impressive either. We were traveling far from home, mostly we won't be back to visit again. But I want to post this review to let everyone else to know that this is not a English-friendly restaurant. Don't waste your money here. You deserve better, we deserve better.

Yelp
While in Baddeck recently, I stopped with my fiance and his cousin for a bite to eat at the Lynwood Inn's restaurant. We sat outside on a big, beautiful porch. Lynwood Inn is a classic Victorian home, and the outdoor landscaping is really lovely. I could easily sit out there all afternoon sipping wine and admiring the surroundings. The service was truly fantastic, and I enjoyed the live music. I only wish the food had been a bit better. I was disappointed in the menu as I'd really been hoping for a nice seafood pasta, but none was offered. I settled on the lasagna and was pretty disappointed, my fiancee didn't care much for his lobster and mussels dinner, and while his cousin enjoyed the side dish of beans he found his fish cakes too salty. While I didn't particularly enjoy my meal, I loved the ambiance and would try something else here if I return to the area.

Yelp
We had lunch here today and had the lobster roll. I've had 4 since I've been here in Nova Scotia and this was the worst by far. There was not enough lobster and was drenched in mayonnaise. We didn't want the potato/ veg and asked for a salad instead and was charged an extra $2.

Yelp
We came to this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews. We had a great time on the patio which was helped by some nice evening weather. We had a selection of the dishes and they were all good but did not hit any extraordinary levels. There was a guitar soloist playing a great selection of folk and classic rock. The service was very quick, very courteous and very informative and is the reason I give it a 4 rather than a 3. It's a very nice patio with a nice expansive view but nothing spectacular. In all, a very pleasant restaurant that could be something if the kitchen upped their game a bit.

Yelp
It was extremely hard to decide on a location for dinner during our trip to Baddeck. Once we finally agreed on The Lynnwood we went in being prepared to be turned away as it states that typically reservations are req'd(and we did not have any). The Lynnwood is situated in an old Victorian style home. Small rooms that each house a few dining tables. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. I started with a Maple Spinach Salad. This was fantastic! I shared with my hubby & had wished I didn't by the time we were done!! My main I decided to go for was the Salmon...Maple Glazed I think it was? It was quite a large portion. Flavors were good, however...I think it was a bit over cooked. Not to often I complain about fish being over cooked(its usually quite the opposite), but it was a little bit tough?? Something I have never encountered with Salmon before. My husband got the steak and was very pleased with it. Pricing was typical for a place like this. Portion sizes were good If in the area again..I'd gladly revisit! The entire menu looked divine!

Yelp
Basic menu at slightly elevated prices. Inexperienced service but pleasant. Cold vegetables. Unremarkable but not terrible but there are clearly better choices in Baddeck. Go to Telegraph Hotel if you want something more memorable.

Yelp
Great meal tonight at the Lynwood Inn. James was our server and did a stellar job. Service was prompt and the covered deck was lovely. Dessert was also worth it...grandmas warm apple crisp and brownies with both sauces! Highly recommend!

Martin S.

Yelp
We found the prices very acceptable but the food was just so so. If you go try the mussels. Good local music from a guitarist and fantastic decor.
