Fantastic theatre, so well designed and crafted providing large and airy but interesting spaces. The auditorium was beautiful and then the play started, The Tunnel which was brilliant, so thought provoking and superbly acted. At the end the spontaneous standing ovation was so well deserved. All the staff I encountered were friendly and super helpful. A great evening, thank you.

Eleven years in I finally made it to a show, I wasn't disappointed that's for sure. Friendly and helpful staff, great facilities and ambience by the bucket load. The production itself was fantastic and of a high calibre. Theatre snacks weren't too over priced either. All in all a great night out for my good friend and I. Access to the building was great as my friend is prone to mobility issues and we had a very smooth experience on account of the layout and street/entrance access. Grest job guys 👍

Very friendly staff, great facilities and atmosphere. Coffee shop in the lobby with a variety of drinks, soup and sandwiches. The play I went to see was amazing, from the start, the stage, the actors, the costumes all fantastic. You were transported visually and yet, some modern effects were used to enhance such a wonderful production.

Lovely setting overlooking the Lagan Relaxed atmosphere. Seating excellent great view of the stage Would recommend 👍

Google
A moderately sized modern theatre in a residential area of Belfast. Spacious public areas with a good bar for pre and post performance drinks. The actual theatre space that we experienced had good acoustics and all seats had a clear view of the stage. The seats were a bit small, but that’s my only moan.

Google
Wonderful theatre but getting a bit sick and tired of seeing the same people in shows time and time again. There is a wealth of talent out there. The Director seems unwilling to give new faces a chance and to take some risks.

ricky price

Google
Great show. We eas visiting Belfast for new year so A Christmas Carol looked a good choice plus wanted to give our 16 yesr old son and his girlfriend a bit of culture. Great show plus they had their picture taken with Mr Scrouge himself. Lovely theatre and great performance deserving a standing ovation at the end

Really enjoyed My Christmas Carol. Lyric staff were friendly and helpful to guide us to the seats. Play was great and wonderful to see cast greeting us when leaving

Yelp
The Lyric Theatre's latest pantomime production is nothing short of enchanting. From the moment the curtains rose, the audience was transported into a world of whimsy and wonder, filled with laughter, song, and spectacle. The cast's energy and enthusiasm were infectious, drawing the audience into the story with every line and dance move. The performers seamlessly blended humor and heart, keeping both children and adults engaged throughout the show. The production design was a feast for the eyes, with vibrant costumes, imaginative sets, and dazzling special effects that added an extra layer of magic to the experience. From the cozy village streets to the mystical forest, each scene was beautifully crafted and brought to life with attention to detail. But perhaps the true highlight of the evening was the audience interaction. The pantomime tradition of encouraging audience participation was alive and well at the Lyric Theatre, with cheers, boos, and plenty of "he's behind you!" moments that had everyone on the edge of their seats. Overall, the Lyric Theatre's pantomime was a delightful celebration of storytelling and spectacle. It's a must-see for families looking to create lasting memories and share in the joy of live theater.

Yelp
I am obsessed with theatre, in a Glen Close crazy kinda way. I'm also a little shocked at the lack of attention being given to the lyric. It is internationally renowned, the starting ground for many careers (such as Liam Neeson) and one of the most wonderful theatres I've been to. Currently being refurbished, the new theatre will have three performance spaces. It's difficult to review this, considering I have no crystal ball, however the plans and drawings on the lyrics website for the new theatre look impressive. This is not a theatre to be intimidated by; the staff are incredibly friendly and the bar is, as far as I can remember, reasonably priced. It's a nice excuse to get dressed up, but if you don't, well that's OK too. Ticket prices are normally around £10, which I think is pretty reasonable. The most recent productions I've seen at the Lyric, have been The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Miser. The former being one of my favourite productions and moreover my long suffering boyfriend liked it; he has never liked anything he has seen at the theatre and normally leaves cursing what we've seen and cursing me! The Lyric remains my favourite theatre in Northern Ireland, for classic and contemporary plays, surprises and a great night.

Yelp
Dana Masters originally from South Carolina, has made Lisburn and Northern Ireland her home. In 2012 herself and Linley Hamilton had a weekly Jazz residence in McHugh's basement bar. Being a huge fan of Jazz Music, I was privileged to be at the very first performance and was blown away by the talent of Dana and the other musicians. There is only a few vocalists that makes the back of my neck tingle when listening to them and that's what makes them special and world class. I looked forward to going every Saturday, close my eyes and enjoy the music. It did not feel like I was in Belfast at all. Sometimes I even had to pinch myself as I listened to the sublime weekly performance. The news soon spread and McHughs Jazz sessions soon had a cult following of faithful fans and at times you couldn't get into the basement for the amount of people. In 2014, I was not surprised that 11,000 at Proms in the Park were all talking about Dana as performance of the night. We've adopted Dana Masters as one of Northern Ireland's top vocalists. "Dana Masters is one of those musicians and not only were we able to relax and enjoy the richness of her undeniably flawless voice, we were also treated to a showcase of some of the finest Jazz instrumentalists in the UK & Ireland." Jude Malone, GiggingNI.com More than 350 music fans gave Dana Masters and her band a standing ovation at the Lyric Theatre Belfast on Monday night. The performance included the old Civil Rights anthem 'A Change is Gonna Come', dedicating it to her mother, a strong supporter of Martin Luther King. Dana was accompanied by Linley Hamilton on trumpet, Johnny Taylor on keyboards, Paul Hamilton on drums, , Dave Howell on saxophone, Paddy Groenland, lead guitar and Charlie Foley, bass guitar. One of my favourite songs was the cover of John Legend's Ordinary People . The band played all five of the tracks on the EP - Motherless Child, My Funny Valentine, Blue Moon, Like a Star by Corinne Bailey Rae, finishing the set with a beautiful version of Charlie Chaplin's Smile. This was an amazing showcase for N.Ireland's jazz scene.

Yelp
The Lyric Theatre is awesome. Even the building itself is an architectural delight and worth a visit to walk around. As a producing theatre they show a vast and diverse range of plays. Lyric Cafe Bar serves good grub and some amazing wines - I've often called in to sit in the beautiful bar overlooking the river just to enjoy a glass of wine even if not going to see a play. There are some beautiful Colin Davidson paintings hanging in the building too - breathtaking portraits. Quite frankly I love this place - it's a real gem.

Yelp
The Lyric Theatre is another one of those places in Belfast that I can get really sentimental about. When I was 15, i was in their production of Little Shop of Horrors and it was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. Later on, I did my work experience there, so it's safe to say I feel attached! I don't get to go enough though. I don't know why exactly that is, because everytime I go see something, I love it. It's such a cosy little theatre that just bursts with talent. As a theatre, it stands out. It's one of the only producing theatres left in Northern Ireland and it produces to a really high quality. Many of the plays that are seen on its stage later go on to bigger audiences at the Opera House, or bigger still on the West End. The new building should be really interesting as they seem to be being very careful to keep the charm and intimacy of the old Lyric, while allowing themselves lots more space to make it a truly modern theatre. Maybe then I'll get to go more. In fact, I'm making a resolution right now that that's exactly what I'm going to do!

Yelp
I love the Lyric Theatre, what a fantastic platform for Northern Irish talent. They do a number of acting master classes and stage techniques, for both adults and children, alongside putting on world class shows throughout the year. I have had the opportunity of seeing a number of productions over the years, and have thoroughly enjoyed every one. Ticket prices generally only cost around a tenner, which is a small price to pay for a fantastic evening of entertainment. The theatre is currently undergoing a multi million pound revamp, after many years of fundraising, and assistance from accross Ireland, the UK, and even as far away as the USA! This revamp will triple the size of the building, to include two auditoriums and a rehearsal room. There will also be an education suite, green room, dressing rooms, new box office snd a new Café and bar! When the Lyric reopens, if you haven't yet been, you must, you will love it!

Yelp
A beautifully designed landmark building looking out over stranmillis embankment. Warm interior with portraits of local artists i.e Seamus Heaney. I have been to the lyric a few times and I really enjoy going. There are drama studios and theatre schools for young people to develop thier talents. I recently went to see Educating Rita and I had previously enjoyed Pride and Prejudice. The theatre has comfortable seating and I always found that my seating position was just the perfect view to the stage, as i had central seats. There is a cafe bar for drinks and snacks, although you can also make a night of it and get a pre theatre meal on Friday and Saturday evenings. Lovely place for a night out

Yelp
i personally love this theater, nice small place, so not much distance between you and the cast, which helps a lot to immerse you in the action, plays i have seen here include : Pinocchio charlottes web potted potter (this one was superb, basically a run through of all the harry potter books in an hour, with every character played by one of only two cast members! absolutely hilarious!)

Yelp
Why does our fantastic Lyric Theatre have so few reviews? I'd like to be able to encourage more folks to visit and enjoy this wonderful venue not only for its productions but for the oustanding new spaces created - the stairway and circulation areas are a spatial delight. Wish I had taken photos I could post. Last but not least the food and drink are pretty good too!

Yelp
it was a nice little place though is currently being rebuilt. Quite tiny and parking was a hassle but i saw a really good Moliere play called the hypochodriact (in acustom with the common belfast addition of t to the word).

Yelp
This theatre is currently being rebuilt and i can't wait to see what it will be like. The best thing about the lyric was that the theatre was so small and intimate, and there really wasn't a bad place to sit. The bar in the lobby bit was really nice of a little pricy, but it was a great place to have a drink before the shows. Parking was a nightmare though.

Yelp
The new Lyric theatre is a joy to visit. We have been several times to see various productions. All have been very good. So far, Arthur Miller's " The Crucible " was the best, with outstanding, powerful performances all round. It was gripping. We were in the 2nd row so very close to the stage and could see the detail of the set, and the faces of the actors all very clearly. Sometimes in a theatre, I can get a bit physically uncomfortable in my seat and shift around, waiting for the interval, or looking forward to the end so I can get out even though I can still be enjoying the production. However, in the Crucible, I wasn't aware off my surroundings at all which is testament to how absorbing it all was. The space outside in the bar is very relaxing, with big windows. Welcome back to Belfast new Lyric, we have booked more plays over the next few months, and really looking forward to a revisit soon.

Yelp
Have experienced this theatre both from an acting point of view and also as a paying customer. Very friendly staff, excellent location, beautiful food and good wine. What more could you ask for? Acting in the Naughton Studio has been a personal highlight! Nothing beats a night at the theatre watching live actors plying their trade! Excellent!
